TracyBrooksFan Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 - Mike Johnson is reporting that Batista has suffered a torn hamstring and will be out of action until June of 2009 at the earliest. Gerweck
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 It's about time.. I was only 3 months off of guessing when he was gonna be hurt next.. Is it just me but does he get injured at least once a year? C'mon Batista.. it's starting to get old!
Comradebot Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 How long until Ransik comes by to celebrate? Oh well, just means the need for a big menacing guy at the top is doubled! God speed Vladimir Kozlov!
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I hope it's someone other than Kozlov.. I watched his 2 minute squash match with Matt Bentley .. and he didn't look impressive at all.. he hardly knew what he was doing in the ring. The only reason why he has gotten a decent push is because he's got a brutal (yet, sloppy) offense. He never should've been given the chance to wrestle Jeff Hardy or Triple H for the World Title. Too bad they got rid of Snitsky. Then again he was pretty much pushed because of his size.. WWE needs to push someone not for their size.

Too bad they got rid of Snitsky. Then again he was pretty much pushed because of his size.. WWE needs to push someone not for their size. I'd really like to know who you think is soooo much more competant and skillfull then Kozlov? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of "I love W. W. E.!" either, but his credentials are pretty good. He's trained in feestyle wrestling, sambo, Kickboxing, judo, and MMA. He was the USA 2005 Open Hvyweight Sambo Champion and the USKBA International Heavyweight Grappling Champion. Not the best ever, but hardly the untrained lackey you make him out to be. I don't like Kozlov that much either, but his character is unique, and right now he's has some good momentum going. The fact that he can look menacing is a huge bonus for someone with this much skill. Size has always mattered in wrestling, as it's not that believable for someone small to be able to compete with "Heavyweights", not in any contact sport. Although wrestling is technically NOT a sport, it still pretends to be one... Big Strong guys are always going to be pushed harder then little guys, unless it's an exception, or just what they have to work with. It's far easier to suspend disbelief. Sure... Little guys can kick big guys butts, in real life, and in other sports, but.... These are "EXCEPTIONAL" little guys or "EXCEPTIONALLY" bad big guys. You can't have it be the mainstream, or you will lose credibility. Everyone should have their Jeff's, Rey's, and AJ's, but the norm is still going to be the bigger guys. I probably shouldn't have quoted the post, as it's not just intended for Tyler, and I don't mean to single him out in the way this probably makes it look. Don't take it personal at all, because that's not how I meant it. I just get tired of hearing "This guys sucks" and talk as if someone else on the roster is more talented/professional or whatever, without even looking at the guys credentials. He is big, Menacing, and sloppy... ONLY because that's how he is booked to be. IF he was booked to be as tough as he really is, he would already be champ.
Grudge Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 IF he was booked to be as tough as he really is, he would already be champ. That's the same arguement that lead goldberg to a 173 match winning streak. I have nothing against kozlov either but I would much rather see punk, kingston, or shelton in the spotlight long before the russian snitsky. Of course I prefer the smaller types so maybe I'm bias. edit: sry Ukrainian not russian

I have nothing against kozlov either but I would much rather see punk, kingston, or shelton in the spotlight long before the russian snitsky. Of course I prefer the smaller types so maybe I'm bias. edit: sry Ukrainian not russian Bill Goldberg was a Football player... Pretty big difference... although Kozlov is skilled in both football and rugby. Goldberg didn't have half the training Kozlov has had.... but even so... Are you saying Goldberg was some sort of huge flop or something?!??? Punk has already had Raw's and ECW's main event title's (although ECW's is more of a midlevel, but I still say it's better then Int or US). Kingston I like quite a bit, but I'd rather see MVP. Kingston I think still is a bit green (for WWE) to be thought of as the champ. Definately has the charisma to make it happen though..... Something I find a bit odd is that although I say that about Kingston, R. Truth comes out as a Veteran that would be more believable to me, then Kingston oddly enough. ALthough I suppose his experience PRE-WWE is why. I'm just saying, it's not like ONLY big guys are winning lately. I mean.. You have Matt and Jeff right now holding the best of their respective promotions. There are several people I really like in WWE. I always find Santino classic, can't wait to here or watch him. Lately I've been more into Haas then Benjamin, and..... Something about Shelton. Is it just me, or does he look like he throw's everyone he wrestle's off balance, off game, or whatever. He always looks great, but I can never get into him... I think back when his "Momma" was around, was the time I liked him the best. In ring he is great, but it's something about him that makes him really bland to me. I think he should always be in between the mid and main event level on the card, but I couldn't get into him being any higher then a mid level title holder... perhaps Tag Team would be best in my opinion. That is where I think he would shine the most. Kendricks I can't stand. He is totally unbelievable anymore, and he always looks awkward. However, I've changed my opinion of Morrison. That promo he cut with Miz when they won the Slammy was absolutely the best I've ever heard him speak. That actually made me believe that one day they could be on "DX" level. Also gave me more respect for Morrison. Anyways.. I'm always going to "hope" for my favorites to get over, just like I did back in the 80's. Right now my favorite wrestler in WWE is Chris Jericho, which is strange because I hated him the first time around. I think he could make any Face a Main Eventer just by feuding/talking about them. Golden, and he deserved the Slammy he won.
UkWrestleFan Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I've heard that Tomko's injury isn't as serious as first thought. With Batista being on the shelf for a while now maybe the 'E will keep Tomko and put him on RAW.
Shmoe Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Why are we talking about Kozlov as the need for a big, menacing main event heel when it's finally about time Kane took a step back to the World title?
Comradebot Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Why are we talking about Kozlov as the need for a big, menacing main event heel when it's finally about time Kane took a step back to the World title? Because Kane sucks?
Mr T Jobs To Me Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Wow... I think this opens things up for a nice Cena-Orton-Jericho Triple Threat at Wrestlemania. Take your time, Batista... Make damn sure you're healthy before you even think of coming back!
UkWrestleFan Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Harsh. Kane doesn't suck (IMO) but the way he's booked does.
Comradebot Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Harsh. Kane doesn't suck (IMO) but the way he's booked does. Actually, I'll agree with that. Back when I was little, during the Attitude years, I was a major Kane mark. He rocked back then. Now they book him in the most ridiculous fashion possible. And whoever decided for him to take off his mask... idiot. Kane went from being mysterious and possibly demonic to being a tall, flabby, bald guy. Terrible move.

I think Kane is coming to the end of his career with the WWE so they should do something big with him while they still can. Take him off screen for a few months, maybe have him suffer some kind of kayfabe facial disfigurement at the hands of whoever is capable then bring him back with his mask and give him one final run as the monster we all knew and loved.
Guest Ransik Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 The roids caught up to Dave again huh? Not surprising at all. Get over it guys. Kozlov is horrid. Every time he comes out for a match the crowds boo. They do not boo because he's an awesome heel.... they boo because they'd rather see "Hardwork" Bobby Walker win the IC Title than see the WWE try to push Kozlov as anything but the night-time custodian.
G-Prime Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 they boo because they'd rather see "Hardwork" Bobby Walker win the IC Title ... Who?

Lies! He's awesome. I think he's crossed that barrier now, around the time of survivor series yeah but last coupla weeks...no. He can work a good match, and he could do something good at mania with the right buildup.

Grudge Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Bill Goldberg was a Football player... Pretty big difference... What I meant by that was to say that Goldberg only won that many matches because he refused to lose to guys that he said, "I could beat if this was a REAL sport". Are you saying Goldberg was some sort of huge flop or something?!??? Well he was when he didn't have that streak to ride anymore. Goldberg had a great look and connected to the fans well, but he was very limited in the ring. I loved Goldberg back in the day when I was young, but now, knowing what I know about the WCW and Ol' Bill he was just another Hogan or Nash imo. Matter of fact maybe even a peg lower, at least those guys stuck it out when Vinny Mac was using them in an ill favored manor. "I'm not sayin'. I'm just sayin'!" Punk has already had Raw's and ECW's main event title's (although ECW's is more of a midlevel, but I still say it's better then Int or US). Yea but am I the only one who feels like that was a Mysterio or Benoit reign. Like he was just an interim champ till they could build a better fued. I will never understand exactly why they took him out of the race for the title and put him in for everything else. The IC belt, tag team champs with kofi, seems to me they are trying to place him in the ranks of mediocrity. I could be wrong, because he does still get alot of tv time so we'll see. I feel really bad about leaving Mr K. Kwik out here. I LUV Ron always have! And before this past monday nights match I would argue that Kingston is pretty solid in the ring, but he looked sloppy as hell. When he is on though his matches are very exciting and I don't recall too many botches from him other than last monday. Now you want to talk about green, botchtista is still screwing up slams. I'm just saying, it's not like ONLY big guys are winning lately. I mean.. You have Matt and Jeff right now holding the best of their respective promotions. No but only big guys are "normally" built as champions by the WWE now you do have some exceptions and I hope that at least Jeff will be one of them, but I just know he's going to lose the belt at the Rumble I only hope they keep him in contension for the main title and not a mid or tag team one. There are several people I really like in WWE. I always find Santino classic, can't wait to here or watch him. Lately I've been more into Haas then Benjamin, and..... Something about Shelton. Yea Santino is awesome, and who knows maybe the E will go somewhere with him a little more serious than comedic relief. And I agree Haas's new gimmick is awesome and he is amazing doing it, but I'll never give up on shelton man. Every since he got that quick three count on HHH I've loved him, because that was a helluva match. And I'd like to see what he could do on the big stage given the time and oppertunity. Is it just me, or does he look like he throw's everyone he wrestle's off balance, off game, or whatever. He always looks great, but I can never get into him... I think back when his "Momma" was around, was the time I liked him the best. In ring he is great, but it's something about him that makes him really bland to me. That is where I think he would shine the most. The only person I can think of that it looked like that with was Helms and he just has a **** pile of ring rust right now. I hope he's still got it because as of now he looks like crap, imo. Other than his last few matches with Gregory I'm not really sure who your referring to, Shelton's a great wrestler but he has had off nights. Kendricks I can't stand. He is totally unbelievable anymore, and he always looks awkward. Yea there is something about the way he dances and looks but I think that just plays into his character a little bit imo. But I won't defend him, I'm not that high on him. However, I've changed my opinion of Morrison. That promo he cut with Miz when they won the Slammy was absolutely the best I've ever heard him speak. That actually made me believe that one day they could be on "DX" level. Also gave me more respect for Morrison. Yea I've been waiting on Johnny Blaze to come around for a while now. He's pretty good in the ring and he is really good on the mic, when that team breaks up he should be headed for big things. I fell in love with Jericho in WCW and I've followed him every since. The man of 1004 holds!
The Shape Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Shelton I much prefer as a face, he can be more explosive, someone else can control the match and he can generally come across looking better.
ShadowedFlames Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I fell in love with Jericho in WCW and I've followed him every since. The man of 1004 holds! Armbar! Armbar! Armbar!
Eisen-verse Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 In regards to Shelton Benjamin... I've always been a fan of Shelton. He is a great worker in the ring and can actually put on a very flashy match when need be (I remember awhile back where he and HBK put on a classic RAW match). Yes, his personality is very bland... and yea... He pretty much sucks on the mic (then again.. who is really all that good these days in the WWE? Well, outside of Santino and Jericho)..... They should put a manager on him. Have him grow tired of the "flashy" persona that everyone feels he should be.... Have him go back to his roots and become a silent technition who is sick of "entertainment Wrestling"... and rather just wants to break people down with his technical abilities.... Then throw a manger on him to do all of his talking for him. Someone who looks more like a "trainer" than a manager... Is in his corner like a trainer would be for a boxer. Could be a cool legit persona. In a sense, make him a little more "Tazz" like minus the talking.
The Masked Orange Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 God, this could not be a better present, an injured Batista, and a WWE argument I didn't create! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! P.S: Kozlov shouldn't be in WWE, bring back Chris Masters and make him wear high heels if you need a new big man.
Grudge Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 yea the masterpiece would be good if you could keep him off the roids, that's why he's not there now. They need to call up scotty goldman! Or maybe they could have kept paul burchill!
Self Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I love Koslov. For his character, brutal yet sloppy offense is all he needs. Kane is a good wrestler, but the character is stale at this point. He's been around too long, and has rarely been able to hold up a storyline without Undertaker involved. It's like 'Friends'. Sure the show was still technically good, but how many times can Ross & Rachel break up before you think "I've seen this before. I wonder what else is on?". As for Batista... It's never good to be hurt at Christmas, but time away from the TV screens isn't necessarily a bad thing. He can come back fresh and interesting. People will miss him when he's gone. Big guys are a staple of the wrestling business. I don't personally connect with them (I'm a small, small man) but there's a certain magic to seeing a huge dude, live and in person, beating the crap out of some other dude. There's a spectacle to it.
