The 2009 Cornellverse Draft (SIGN UP THREAD)

Recommended Posts

Posted
I will provide a link to the beta draft data here once I have finished creating it, in order for people to see who is now available. I will also be updating the data as the picks are made, so there should always be an up to date data available. I will also soon set up some google documents for people to be track what is going on at all times.

Told you I was planning to do a draft. Here it is. :)

I'm not planning to start this draft until after the new year so there is no rush to get this started. It will take me some time to set up the database to the standard I want it to be and to then set up the spreadsheets too. But I'm starting sign ups now for anyone who is interested. I'll be away for a few days, so here's hoping that someone will sign up while I'm gone. ;)

Most Recent Draft TEW Data (BETA) - http:// http://www.sendspace.com/file/ricbeh

TEW Draft Sheets - http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pp783pHKITw_yQygTyEQhZg&hl=en

Sheet 1 - Draft organised by round and promotion

Sheet 2 - Available Boxes and Contents of boxes once revealed

Sheet 3 - Easy to copy/paste list of draft picks (to be completed)

THE RULES

24 promotions, all starting at 70 popularity in home region, 50 popularity in the rest of the promotion's home country. Promotions will also start with 50 prestige and $1,000,000 in the bank.

35 Rounds, serpentine draft. Meaning the last person to pick in the first round will pick first in the second round.

The draft will take place in the Default Cornellverse data, with the start date set to January 2009.

1. Use http://www.random.org/sform.html to assign a random order for promotions picking.

2. Once a pick is made, the next person has 2 hours to make his selection. We will use time stamps on the posts.

3. Once the two hour time period elapses, and the next in line does not draft, then whoever is next in line can jump in and select. When you make your selection you are going to be required to copy and paste the draft board in your thread while making your post bold to stand out.

4. If someone is skipped for missing a selection, they can make their selection at anytime.

5. If you have been skipped three times then you will be automatically skipped for any future picks. Furthermore, I will begin looking for a replacement for you if this happens in order to ensure that the game keeps moving forward and the replacement does not lose out on potential picks.

6. If you submit a list to me, ranking wrestlers, and you are not online to make your pick, I will take the first person from that list who has not been selected for your pick (Granted that I am online to do so). Others may be able to fill this role as needed.

7. The first 10 rounds of workers selected will be on a set to written contracts. The remaining picks will be available on non-exclusive PPA contracts, to other promotions to draft. Any promotion choosing to draft a worker to 2 PPA contracts will get that worker on an exclusive PPA deal, assuming that no-one else has drafted them yet. Drafting a worker to 3 PPA contracts with the same promotion will turn the contract into a written contract. If three different promotions select a worker then the worker can no longer be picked by any other promotions.

8. Staff will count as part of your 35 draft picks. You can choose to sign in your first ten and have them exclusively or wait to share them. It is not required to draft staff (ie Referee's, Anoucners, Managers, Road Agents, Colour Commentators, Personalities) but is encouraged to at least get the minimum so the game is playable right away.

9. Mystery Boxes.

There will be a total of 250 mystery boxes available to be drafted at any time, each one with a potential prize inside. When you pick these boxes you will immediately find out what is inside and be able to take whatever the appropriate action is in that situation. Examples of the contents of the boxes include.

- TV Deal

- PPV Deal

- Development territory

- Extra written contracts

- Extra PPA contracts

- Popularity Boost (For promotions OR Workers)

- Popularity Drop (For promotions)

- Skill Increase (for workers)

- Gain/Lose Money

- Gain/Lose Prestige

- Empty Boxes

The majority of the boxes contain prizes that will improve your promotion or workers, with some being more common than others. Development territories for example, are very rare while extra PPA contracts are more common.

The mystery boxes are a way to make each promotion unique in this draft via a risk/reward strategy. You do not NEED to select any mystery boxes but by not selecting any boxes you may miss out on a wide range of benefits. Similarly, though less likely, not picking boxes may actually result in you being better off as other promotions could get largely negative results.

10. Trades are allowed and actively encouraged. All workers, staff and boxes are available to be traded in any way you see fit. Trades will not be completed unless all players involved have confirmed the trade to me, and if there is any doubt then my word is final.

The best method would be via PM although the forum would be fine too. Once a trade is confirmed by both sides then it is final and cannot be undone.

11. In this draft you can pick workers from any area to join your promotion. Worker restrictions will be turned OFF.

12. Default Owners and Head Bookers from each promotion will be assigned by you from the roster of workers you have drafted.

13. Changing a worker's active roles. As we are advancing the game by 1 year with whatever ideas we have, I will be allowing each player the chance to change 1 retired wrestler OR 1 on hiatus wrestler OR 1 left the business wrestler each, back into an active worker. Their stats will not be changed however, only their preferred role and wrestling style. EDIT: This ability can be traded if you wish to do so.

Additional Information and Clarification

14. All the contract information is being set to the following guidelines:

- Random Expiry date

- Alignment set to default, whatever the worker is better at.

- Gimmick set to databse default to match alignment.

- Gimmick rating of B

- Momentum set to random

This is pretty much what the default Cornellverse has for all it's workers too, so I can't imagine there will be any problems with that. If anyone wants (for whatever reason) to add Creative Control into any of their contracts, then you can. Though I can't imagine why you'd want to. :p

15. You can select anyone you have drafted to be your owner/booker when the time comes, but a person can only own one promotion in the game and book one promotion in the game (1 of each). So if you haven't drafted your owner/booker to a written deal then when you draft them to a PPA deal you should probably announce that you are making them your owner/booker in order to avoid them being stolen from under you. First come, first served is the policy here.

16. All title will begin with a default prestige level appropriate to their level. Main event titles will be set to 80 prestige, all midcard titles will be set to 50 prestige and all low level titles will be set to 20 prestige.

17. All events will be set to have a default event importance of "normal". All promotions are entitled to elevate the prestige of any 1 events by two levels (up to Highly Regarded) or any 2 events up by one level (up to Above Average). This can't be traded to other promotions.

No worries about the product settings and stuff, all I really care about at this early stage is a promotion name and a home location. The rest can all be added in this thread at a later date when you know more. Like title belts, product settings, event names and all that kinda stuff.

Right now, all I really want is a name and a location, something FIN has completely failed to give to he's totally not in yet. :p

Hey do you know what would make this draft different than the last draft? You should allow us to make owners/user characters (you can figure out some sort of fair caps). That would also make this mod have a bit more character. :)

Awwww hell.... you're going to make me want to participate in this one too, huh?

Well FINE.

I will.

I'll take the European company while I'm at! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Lord knows I'll just end up creating EWA 2.0.

I'll have real info later, but Europe is MINE!

After much deliberation, I reckon i'll go for a Japanese based promotion, Brutal Arts Promotions (the rather hilarious BAP's...). See this as a placeholder post, it's 2am :p

I try and imagine this as a bizzare mix of a few things... a sort of Japanese ECW which has ultra-sporting yet high intensity matches, with a weekly round up show in the ilk of Match of the Day. So it's treated as a sport, but with competitors who like to run their mouth off. Steve Flash need not apply :p

I would very much like to take a spot in the draft as a US promotion first, Canadian promotion second. However, I won't have access to TEW until a couple of days before the new year. If the draft doesn't start until then, peachy. If it means coming in a little bit late, that's also fine. But I'll understand if this time delay would discourage you from having me involved.

Dark Cadence and Z Man both wanted U.S Promotions but those slots are full.

Looks like U.S and Canada are full.

There is 1 slot open in Mexico. 2 UK slots and 1 Japan slot.

It says 5 slots minimum? Meaning there can be more than 5

I'm sure he meant maximum, just screwed up. Maximum's in drafts are far more important than minimums.

Which would make no sense, as he lists a possibility of 20-25 promotions, but that math equals 15 promotions.

Posted

No, I mean minimum. If lots of people want to set up promotions in the same area, they can. It just means that they will be entering a heavily diluted pool of workers and will suffer the consequences.

So far a lot of people have set up promotions in the US, which is fine by me, it's a big area with a big talent pool. But other areas aren't so big, so by putting in minimums rather than maximums, I'm not restricting what you guys can do quite so much...

... except that there is a maximum of 25 promotions entering this. So in order to meet some of the minimums there has to be a theoretical maximum too. The US is probably already getting rather close to that, so if possible, I'd like people to sign up for some other regions. :)

EDIT: Also, I'm not taking part in this draft. With the addition of the mystery boxes it would be unfair of me to do so since I will know what is in each box. I considered getting people to choose my box #'s for me if I decided to choose one, but there would still be the same basic problem of trust (I don't trust me enough! :p). Though if I was drafting, I'd totally be heading to Mexico this time round.

Posted
Just saw this...tempted to go for one in the UK but I'm much more familiar with workers in the US, so I think I'll head over there (will fill this in with info etc later)

I'd suggest you go with the UK promotion, there are at least 7 people already slated for the US (Finisher, Imarevenant, Mary_E_Winstead_Fan, Kobe, Dark Cadence, Z Man and shamelessposer)
