dormammu Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I recently started a new game with Alpha-1. I brought in a couple heavyweights from other organizations. I know Fezzik is getting old and eventually starts losing, so I figure dI should build up a Heavyweight and have that guy beat him. Unfortunately, this isn't TEW and I don't have that sort of guaranteed control. I decided to book Fezzik vs. Alois (from BCF) for the title, figuring Alois would beat Fezzik. (This is at the start of 98, by the way, so Fezzik is about due for a loss.) Alois has a run of about 5 victories with me, so the interest in this match was Massive. Alois was taking longer than normal to recover from his match, so I booked a throwaway match of Fezzik vs. Russell McPhee while waiting for Alois to be ready, figuring Fezzik would stomp McPhee. Sadly, McPhee won in two rounds and completely and totally screwed up my plans. Man, I knew Fezzik was gonna lose, but I didn't think he'd lose that way. He (Fezzik) has won two matches since then, so I'm thinking Alois will beat McPhee for the title then I can still have Alois vs. Fezzik for the title. Interest is only Extremely High now... gone is the Massive status. And if McPhee beats Alois (who is now at 6 straight wins, though opponent #6 was an regen with a record of 0-1), I'm gonna scream. Anyone have any good stories like this?
samuricex Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Russell Mcphee is not a can, the guy is always a top contender in my games. And 1998 is TOO early to start trying to make Fezzik lose... he can easily get to the mid 00's.
PyroFalkon Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Anyone have any good stories like this? If by "good" you mean "depressing and completely in the face of your plans," yes. I have developed what I call the JJ Reid Treatment to some of my fighters. This is where I pick some fighter for a purely arbitrary reason, overpay him, try to build up his record to astronomical heights, and keep him fighting cans if he gets a title to ensure his legacy. (In case you're curious: I gave JJ Reid the initial treatment simply because I was taken by his name. Seriously, say it out loud: "JJ Reid." It rolls off the tongue and really is fitting for a star of a sport.) So far, I've given the JJ Reid treatment to JJ Reid (obviously), Kimie Igarashi (because her character art is hot), Julio Regueiro (who I gave the JJ Reid treatment after his record was 14-0-1 after I WASN'T trying), and Leon Banks (because looks just plain awesome). Of those, Reid is ironically completely messing me up, because he's lost the last four matches in a row against progressively worse opponents. He also seems to have trouble getting to match weight, which I'd normally assume is because I'm booking him too fast, although I've not had this problem as bad with ANY of my other fighters. Everyone else is doing well. Kimie lost her first match, but won six in a row before dropping one, and she's currently 6-2. Julio is kicking all manners of butt and is holding strong at 17-0-1 with a title, and Leon Banks sits at 14-4 with a title shot soon. Those three are making me happy, and I'm trying to build my PPVs around them... It's easy with Julio because the crowd is loving his streak and record, so all his matches tend to be "Above Average" at worse and frequently are "Massive." Banks is gaining popularity and should be a huge draw soon. Kimie is still essentially a rookie and this last loss doesn't help her cause, but she's skilled enough that I'll feed her a few cans to get her record a bit padded. As for JJ Reid, I have no idea what the heck I'm going to do with him. I can't seem to book him against anyone he can beat, but I really don't want him to retire in obscurity. He's young, it's not like it's going to happen tomorrow, but if I don't figure out something soon, it may not be much longer. (I once had a guy retire after only 11 matches because he lost the last 10 of them straight.) Here's hoping we find a decent opponent for him!
Wade Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I needed to get Coutoure a win after Sylvia beat him for my heavyweight title so he could get some momentum going again. So I booked him against a guy I thought he would destroy, and the guy knocked out Couture in the first round. Who was the "scab"? Seth Petruzelli. No joke.
Blaze Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Seth P. Beat Kimbo.. again, Brett Rogers and Antonio Silva in my ol' Elite XC game. Lost to The belt to Tito tho.
UFC-KING Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Seriously I don't believe you, who beat Kimbo, Rogers and Silva, please tell me. Seth Petruzelli is such a scrub he could make a living cleaning dishes. ZING ! lol
Capelli King Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 98 and you expect Fezzik to start loosing matches, lol. He can easilly go for 3-4 more years and be the main contender. I noticed he mainly looses matches if they are shorter than usual
Afroduck Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 If you want to talk about ruined plans. This just happened to me.I started a UFC game and booked the events that are booked in real life.So Machida beat T.Silva then went on and won the title.Thiago then worked his way up and beat Machida for the belt.So now I got Machida and Silva both with one loss on their records and it's too each other.I mean it's pefect set up,for the third and final match.Well it turns out about two weeks before I was going to book the title fight and their third bout,Machida joins the same team as Thiago and they don't want to fight each other right now.Man did that piss me off lol.Luckily I got a back up plan but still.
UFC-KING Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Russell Mcphee is not a can, the guy is always a top contender in my games. And 1998 is TOO early to start trying to make Fezzik lose... he can easily get to the mid 00's. I actually got Fezzik to drop a fight in 96 to Nilsson in his first match up
ZzFDKzZ Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 In my game McPhee always ruins my plans haha. In matches he's suppose to win he losses. In matches he's suppose to lose he wins. His record is something like 17-12.
Dublin Sky Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 2001 I'm in feb 2001 and he is 10-3 so far
