I'm somewhat excited for this movie. I was a fan of original X-Men films, even the third which gets tons of hate. I've kinda been hooked on X-Men since I saw the first movie. Can't say I was a fan of the comics or early cartoons though. But after seeing the movies, I was interested in the 'X-Men Universe'. So yeah, I'm hoping Wolverine does good and I'd like to see it whether or not it gets good reviews. I'll probably won't go out of my way to see it in theaters though. I'll just wait for it to be released on DVD.

As far as I've read the plan is for three X-Men Origins movies, Wolverine, Magneto and I'm not sure about the other one. I'd love to see one like Nightcrawler but somehow I doubt that'll happen. Yeah the trailer does look pretty sweet and I'm hoping that it's a good movie because I'm a comics fan and hope every comic book movie does well.

The first three films are nothing if not Wolverine movies. It makes me sick that he's seen as the only X-Man worth a damn.

Still, I have enjoyed everything so far despite the horrible amount of unnecessary changes to characters (which will only continue with Deadpool, Maverick/Agent Zero, Beak, Emma Frost and Gambit now). It is good to see them using material from the ACTUAL "Origin" series which finally revealed the truth of his childhood. My only real complaint so far is that Weapon X seems to have been made a composite - taking recruits from totally different times and lumping them together.

This should be another enjoyable movie over all.

Im actually thinking of skipping the Wolverine movie entirely considering he's pretty much had 2 movies of his own anyway.

I finally lost faith in the X-Men films when they 'killed' off Cyclops and made the ending all about Wolverine.

In the original 'Jean Grey' kills herself in front of Cyclops to stop the Phoenix entity from killing others, but they change it to Wolverine killing her to save everyone more than likely due to Jackman being the bigger name.

Bring back Bryan Singer is what i say

I gotta agree with Clarity, as all of his points are valid. By the same token, it has Deadpool and Gambit (who didn't speak in the trailer, and if he's not Cajun, I will lose my flippin' mind!), so I'll probably end up hitting the theatre for this one.

Marvel studios is gonna be busy too. Besides the origin movies, Venom gets his own film, Iron Man has a sequel, the Thor movie with Trips, possibly, Spiderman 4, Captain America ... busy, busy, busy. lol

Hey Prophet you forgot about the Avengers movie which is going to be the next big production after Captain America who's movie as of now is titled

Sorry to rain on everybodies parade but, in my opinoin,

however crappy, inprecise and bias it is,

around 50% of comic book movies are bad,

around 20% make no money,

and they manage to survive off people like youses who are into the genre.

The problem I have with that is, I have never met anyone who is into the genre.

But maybe that's because I'm British and got my sources from an English website.

But my point, which I forgot to mention, is this:

I read Eragon, it's my favourite ever book.

I saw the movie(pirate, off a friend) and got bought the game.

The movie was bad, and on the game the unlockables were clips from behind the scenes of making the game. And all I got out of it is that Saphira's wings can be duplicated with linen sheets and a leather jacket.

The book was everything I wanted it to be, so why let some doped up Hollywood director dress up what's meant to happen into some sentimentless dribble that you have no love for?

Same with Marvel and that other Comic book company I can never remember the name of.

Why ruin a perfectly good story by making it into a movie.

Think about it;

Eragon,

Twilight,

Harry Potters 3-7(when they get round to making it),

X-Men 3.

All void of any emotions.

If Comic movies fail so much, how come The Hulk(Edward Norton), The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Punisher(Tom Jane), Spider-Man 1&2 more, X-Men 1&2 and Daredevil all got great reviews and obviously had to have made money. There are many other's I just can't recall all the comic movies that came out.

I never got into Harry Potter, not even the books.

Twilight, as much as I'm into Vamps and stuff.. I don't want to see this movie.

Eragon, never read the book, never seen the movie, never thought about renting the game. (Any movie-turned game is bound to be bad.)

X3 wasn't that bad and it gets alot of hate.. I don't understand why.. yes it isn't up to the same standard as the first two. But it's still a decent movie that introduces you to a number of "new" heroes & villians.

I don't want this to be an arguement thread but I had to give my rebutle about this.

Especially since Dark Knight and Iron Man were HUGE summer movies that sold alot of f'n tickets. Dark Knight did almost beat Titanic.

Posted

yeah, some comic movies are Huge, but it's more selling a brand then it is selling a movie.

Have I read a Batman comic no, did I watch Dark Knight yes, mainly cos' of Heath Ledger but still it was an epic movie.

But with the genre its so easy to screw up everything.

Catwoman.

That alone proves that even Halle Berry in a skintight suit can't sell movies.

But will I see any of the Marvel movies in production, yes, about two.

Watch as at least one of those movies draws a deficit.

O.K. my arguing is over there is nothing more to be said.

Back to Captain Hulk and The Amazing Batman to you

What was the last Marvel failure? The only one I can think of that hasn't been a Box Office success since before X-Men is Elektra.

Of course Halle Berry (or Jennifer Garner) in sexy outfits can't sell a movie alone. Both films had horrible story, character and direction. Both were spinoffs of more successful franchises trying to cash in on nothing but looks.

When done right, comic book stories become amazing movies. Dark Knight and Iron Man are perfect examples. They stick to the best parts of the characters, what makes them compelling in the first place, craft a great story, and don't hold back or compromise.

By the way, how could it be that all these Comic movies suck and don't make money and no one's a fan of them... when the Top 10 highest grossing openings of all time look like this:

The Dark Knight (comic)

Spider-man 3 (comic)

Pirates of the Caribbean 3

Star Wars Episode 3

X-Men 3 (comic)

Harry Potter 5 (book)

Pirates of the Caribbean 2

Spider-man 2 (comic)

Harry Potter 4 (book)

Spider-man (comic)

Seems to me SOMEONE out there must be watching them!

O.K, if you leave out the multi-million budget movies that were always going to be succsesful, most comic movies are ****e.

Yess, they make incredible movies, but watch as this Wolverine movie doesn't match expectations.

Until then, noones argument is right.

I think the Wolverine movie will be a huge success.. it seems like every 7 out of 10 people there favorite XMen character is .. you guessed it, Wolverine.

As for Moe's comment.. I believe the last Marvel failure was The Punisher: War Zone. I haven't seen it but it seems like no one has, or really wants to. I wanna watch, one, I'm a huge Punisher fan, two, I'm a big supporter of Angel/Buffy actors/actresses(Julie Benz). I'm sure I'll end up watching War Zone but it's definately not going to top the first one.

Oh yeah, if you ignore all the amazing critical and Box Office successes, they're all failures!

You can say that about anything. What a pitiful argument.

And *who*'s expectations will Wolverine not meet? The Studio? Marvel? Particular, individual fans and critics? Because from your posts already I can tell it will met *your* expectations. It will meet mine, too.

Maybe it's just 'coz I'm in Wanganui, New Zealand and we get **** all of the movies I want to see (Zack & Miri Make a Porno was the most recent to not come here that I was looking out for).... But I didn't know Punisher WZ even came out yet! I wasn't impressed by the trailer, I was confused about the change of lead, all that jazz. I haven't been looking out for it.

That sucks that you guys don't get certain movies.. Punisher came out around early December(I think) here. Zack & Miri is a funny movie.. it's definately worth watching..

I think alot of people will like the Wolverine movie more than they'll like the Magneto follow-up.

O.K, my posts have been hard, but you guys highlight Marvel like it's the only company around.

Sci-Fi doesn't just have low-budget shows.

It has low-budget movies.

And in those movies? second rate superheroes who couldn't shift enough comics to get the multi-million budget that Batman, Superman, Spiderman etc. get.

Comic Book movies will either be massive, or a big letdown.

Don't call my points of view that, it causes arguments, and I've just logged on to find a thread of mines been closed cos' some people hiijacked it.

yes, excluding the big movies is like saying the T.V was a crap invention except for the massive viewership, and the engineering accomplishments etc.

But in all fairness, if 9/10 people who watched X-men liked Wolverine.

Than the maximum viewership will be 90% of what X-Men had.

But it won't. To stop this becoming pointless I think I shall leave this discussion now, otherwise it will be people disagreeing on things we will never agree on.
