WeeMan Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Hello all, and best wishes for the upcoming New Year I have a question about stables... How do they get the momentum? Do all of the guys need to be included in the same match/angle ? I'd think so, but I just had a show where stable members were NOT in the same matches or angles, but they got some improvments in momentum... I never used stables, so actually every little thing that You guys know about them can be helpful. I just read that they are a good way of helping workers get over so... discuss stables, help me and other TEW maniacs out there :] Thanks in advance.
pepper2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 I think in angles and matches you need at least two of them. Well one can be just a manager, interefering or distracting

Remianen Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008
What I know (or think I know) about stables:

Stables get momentum from every segment that includes a 'major' member. There might be a boost (there's definitely a drag) from minor members, but I haven't yet gotten to the point where I use minor members much.

Stable momentum can be "fluffed" (google if you're not familiar with the "fluffer" term) by using over people with good entertainment skills as major members. Basically, if you have a manager (like say, Emma Chase) who can rock the mic and that people know and care about, they can carry the stable's momentum on their backs (within reason, of course).

Stable members get momentum boosts corresponding to their role in the stable, depending on how the stable's momentum is.

As an example, I have one game where Gabriela Ortega and Magdalena are major members of a stable (Mexicana Extreme or MEX). Gabriela has B+ entertainment skills and B/B- overness. Magdalena has B- entertainment skills and C+/B- overness. The two of them together can keep MEX's momentum in the C+ to B range based on the strength of their entertainment segments. It helps to have J.Ro as leader of the stable but most of her contribution is in the ring. Miss Mexico & Velvet Suarez (as the MEX Express) sometimes have stinker matches (gee, I wonder why?) and I often use Gabi or Maggie to offset that (usually in post-match angles).

Stables are awesome for developing lower tier talent or talent with great in-ring skills but little to no overness. Six months in an active and highly rated stable can create your Randy Ortons of the wrestling world.

WeeMan Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008
Wow, that sounds great... But does it really work this way? There can be a stable consisting of 1 supermegastar and 5 nobodies that I want to make future stars from, and just by having high stable momentum they'll get popularity? They don't need to be featured in shows, or something?

Thanks for responding, I'm still open to any tips and hints concerning stables ;]

They will get some overness, but it pales in comparison to what they'd get from matches and angles. Basically, a balance must be struck. You see in my example, the two non-wrestlers have their own strengths and overness. The two weakest members of the stable (Mexi and Velvet) need someone to balance their weakness. So yes, eventually Velvet is going to be over enough to stand on her own (which is the plan) and Gabi and Maggie (and J.Ro) help to make that happen. So in your question, to be as efficient as possible, in a stable with 5 nobodies, you need the super megastar and a few regular stars to produce the ratings needed to maintain the stable's momentum (and to offset the typically stinky ratings the nobodies will produce).

Start the nobodies off as minor members and as they get overness and progress, then you can add them as major members.

Start the nobodies off as minor members and as they get overness and progress, then you can add them as major members. Once again Remi you helped me in a TEW game. Las tyear was the epic product settings, and this year now with the stable thing. The previous TEW stables were just basically useless. So I really haven't ventured into the whole stable thing in 08 yet. In my SWF game I have been running a Big Money Inc stable with Brandon James, Remo, Rich Money, Emma Chase and a newcomer named Devon James. Well after 3 months of them being a stable in my head I read your post and finally actually entered them into the stable listing. Practically overnight Brandon James has shot up to A over, Rich Money is at A*, Emma chase is A over, Remo is A*, and Devon James is C+ (from D-). Over this span none of these guys have had a big win. Rich has alot of entertainment based promos with Jack Bruce. Remo has had a few squash matches, Brandon has actually been jobbed a few times to Sean McFly and Christian Faith. Then all of them have got in on some attack angles on Bruce. I was quite amazed Money went from B to A* in like 6 weeks with no real big win what so ever.
WeeMan Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Also, one more important question: Why sometimes stables momentum is F- when the angle or a match they were in was rated B+ or A or A'? Sometimes it's normal, stables momentum is similar to the ratings of segments they were in, but sometimes it's F- for no understandable reason... Can someone explain me why? Out of 10 or so stables I have 2 have F- momentum - Main Event Mafia and The Syndicate. It is very weird because with MEM they had 2 matches rated C+ and B+ and a couple of A' angles... With The Syndicate it's pretty much the same, but the match ratings were even higher... Thanks in advance for Your answers guys.
WeeMan Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Sorry for the double post, but it's really important, does anyone know why does it happen and how to fight it? After another show I have yet another F- momentum stable, even though the segments members were involved in were A, A, A, B+ and A' respectively... Doesn't make sense, is it a bug or something?
Hyde Hill Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 If they start with an F- just disband and restart it with same ppl hapens with debuts with angles too sometimes when the debut is on overness or something. Stables work same way as momentum so cauz starting momentum was f- whoels table started as that. Ya can work it up pretty quick tough but best to reform. BTW this is a bug imho the f- debut momentum via angle or is it supposed to be like that so ya cant debut via an overness angle?
WeeMan Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 If it's true [and it probably is, as I recall that Tommy Cornell's appearances were mostly in Overness rated angles] then it sucks It must be a bug, because it doesn't really make sense to me that even a debuting guy but very popular would get the lowest rating ever... Plus, it's not a single person thing, it's a stable :/ Thanks for Your response, Hyde, if anyone else has some valuable information about this situation or stables in general - feel free to post it here
Thomnipotent Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Stable momentum, from what I can tell, doesn't work in the same way that worker momentum does. It's something you have to build up. So yeah, a stable will start off with F- momentum, but as you roll in the killer segments and the such, it'll start rising to that esteemed A*. From what I can tell, at least. I always put disclaimers like that in my posts... but damn it, it's my birthday. So it's okay this time.
WeeMan Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Happy birthday, brother! But it doesn't seem right, as other stables got A and A' momentum just right off the start, just some didn't and started with those F-...
