Grimm
OK, I just bought TEW2005, and have never played any of the series prior. I'm jumping into a diary to hopefully help me get started (you know the whole thing how writing stuff down helps you remember it better?). I want to start from ground zero, so MAW it is. This could crash and burn quick, so fair warning. I'm also hoping this will help me through readers feedback (if I don't bore you all to death). So here we go................... Grimm
“Come on Rip, do this for me, your favorite uncle!” “Vinny, I don’t know man, I don’t even know this kid.” “I know, but I told his old man that I would look out for him, and help out. He’s a great kid, and smart. I’m sure he would help out a lot.” “Vin, there’s just too much going on right now. I can’t babysit this kid.” “You won’t have to, he can handle himself. Listen, you don’t even have to pay him. I’ll take care of everything, help him out with the money if I need to.” After a long silence…….. “Alight Vin, I’ll help you out. I owe you at least that. But let me tell you, I’m keeping a short leash on this kid.” The next day, a young man shows up at the office of MAW, which is actually Rip Chord’s basement. After retiring from a great career of wrestling, Rip Chord has started a new promotion, one that will cater to new young wrestlers and give them a leg up in the industry. The young man walks in, and greets Rip with a hug. “Whoa! What’s that about kid?!” “I just really appreciate what you’re doing sir. I’ve been a big fan for a long time. I’ve always wanted to get into wrestling behind the scenes. I won’t let you down.” “Alright, alright, settle down. Vinny tells me you’re a smart kid, that you are very creative.” “Well, I’d like to think so. Mom always said I had a very vivid imagination.” “This obviously isn’t TCW here, so don’t expect too much. We’re just here to help some young guys out, to get started. Which is why I agreed to this. I’m not just about helping the wrestlers. And hopefully, I can make some money along the way.” “Sounds awesome Mr. Chord!! I can’t wait!” “Easy, call me Rip. Well, let’s get down to business. We’re a traditional promotion here, so stick to the old school basics. You can throw in some angles here and there, but nothing fancy or risqué. And try to minimize the cruisers, they don’t tell to go over well with our kind of audience. The only other rules I’m going to give you is to watch the checkbook like a hawk. We don’t have a lot of scratch to start out with.” With that, the two shook hands, and a new era in wrestling was born. Opening Roster Main Eventers-DC Rayne, Mean Machine, Eddie Howard, Mainstream Hernandez, Oscar Golden, Stan “The Man” Manna, and Ricky Douglas Upper Midcarders-Titan, Flash Savage, Antonio, Steven Parker. Midcarders-Erik Strong, Atlas Lower Midcarders-Rockin’ Ryan Turner, Al Coleman Managers-Nicole Kiss, Persephone, Karen Miller Referee-Jay Fair Week 1, December 2005 Tuesday-Needing to keep spending to a minimum, I let go Karen Miller and announcer Marv Earnest. Rip Chord will be on hand every night, so he agreed to take over the announcing duties. I get the feeling he’s a tight wad, so anything to save a buck. Thursday-Our first show is here! This has all happened so fast that I really haven't had much time to prepare. I'm kind of flying by the seat of my pants here. I really only have one storyline I'm going off of so far, but since we're starting small, it should be a good start. I have vacated the Mid Atlantic title and the tag titles. To keep exenditures to a minimum, we won't have any tag matches for a little while. To start, we'll build up to a heavyweight title match with a little six man tournament. After the initial qualifying matches, the winners will face off in a triangle match. Crash Course -Rip Chord kicked off the night with a pre-show announcement of the upcoming match between DC Rayne and Steven Parker for the first Mid Atlantic title qualifier. This, after bragging about his new $500 suit. C- -Atlas defeated Flash Savage by countout-F -Oscar Golden came out to hype his main event match with Mean Machine saying he wasn't mean, just a wuss-E -DC Rayne won a hard fought battle with Steven Parker-D -A video is shown hyping the match between Machine and Golden-E -Rip Chord is shown in back talking to Mean Machine. He tells him he’d better win tonight, or he’ll never see a shot at gold. C- -Mean Machine gets a cheap win against Golden as he uses the ropes for leverage. C- -Rip Chord announces that next week Ricky Douglas will be facing Mainstream Hernandez in the last qualifying match for the Mid Atlantic Title. Grimm
Week 2, December 2005 Thursday Crash Course -The Pre Show opens up with a backstage interview. Mainstream Hernandez and Flash Savage were goofing off as Savage gave a mock interview with Hernandez, though unbeknownst to them, they were being watched by the audience. Hernandez said he was going to crush Ricky Douglas. C- -Eddie Howard beat Titan in a Last Man Standing match at 6:06. E -Rip Chord comes out to the ring, of course to talk about himself. He is barely into his talk about how he started MAW when Atlas strolls down to the ring. Rip expected Atlas to thank him for the opportunity in MAW, but Atlas just said he was sick of hearing the old man babble about being a legend. He spit in his face, and proceeded to beat him down. The crowd was really giving Atlas some heat. C -Mean Machine defeated Antonio in 6:31. It was a good tough fight, and MM knew it. He got bailed out when Titan ran down and gave Antonio a big boot as the ref was distracted. C- -The camera heads backstage into Rip Chord’s office. He has Atlas brought in by security, and after slapping him, tells him he’ll be in a handicap match against Eddie Howard and Flash Savage next week. D -Ricky Douglas defeated Mainstream Hernandez in 6:54. It wasn’t a great main event match as Hernandez was off his game. He ended up getting counted out for the loss. D Attendance-77 Rating D I think the main event killed the night. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt next week’s attendance. Next week we’ll see Atlas vs. Eddie Howard and Flash Savage. The main event will be a triangle match for the Mid Atlantic heavyweight title featuring DC Rayne, Mean Machine, and Ricky Douglas. Friday I had a feeling last night's show was a bust. We had risen to a "small" promotion after our first show, but fell back to "local" after last night. We'll be much better next week....
Grimm
Week 1, January 2006 Monday Due to rapidly depleting funds, I decided to scale back the shows for a bit. I haven’t decided, but we’ll either do a bi-weekly show, or once a month. I’ve got things to sort through, including looking into hiring at least one more worker, so I put off the next show until this week. Not a huge loss, we wish her well. Thursday Crash Course -The pre-show opens up with Rip Chord and Atlas backstage. Rip Chord informs Atlas that if he doesn’t win his handicap match against Eddie Howard and Flash Savage, that he is fired! C -The backstage pre-show concludes with an interview with Eddie Howard and Flash Savage. They are very confident that they will beat Atlas and send him packing. E -The show begins with a cage match between Erik Strong and Rockin’ Ryan Turner. Strong escaped the cage at 5:29 for the win. This was a terrible match as the workers just didn’t click at all. F -Mean Machine caught up with Ricky Douglas backstage. He asked him to join up with him as an ally. MM saw the camera and took Douglas into another room, not allowing the camera in, so what transpired from there is anyone’s guess. C- -Savage and Howard defeated Atlas in 5:06 as Howard laid Atlas out with a Roaring Elbow. Decent match, but the crowd wasn’t really into it. E -In the main event, Mean Machine pinned DC Rayne to win the Mid Atlantic title in 5:57. He used a foreign object that Douglas took out of his tights to gain the advantage. C- -Mean Machine then pummeled Rayne into the mat after the win. D Rip Chord came down to the ring, and announced that he did not like the ending of the match, so the next show would feature a rematch between the three. Attendance-72 Rating-D Friday We have once again risen back to a “Small” size promotion. Week 2, January 2006 This week we signed a couple of young workers, one of which will debut at next weeks show. Week 3, January 2006 Thursday Crash Course -Rip Chord opened up the show by bragging about his new Lexus, and how plush the interior is. Then he remembered why he was out in the ring, to hype the main event, a rematch between DC Rayne, Ricky Douglas, and Mean Machine for the Mid Atlantic championship. This time it’s for real. C- -Antonio defeated newcomer Julian Watson in 5:35 by pinfall. E -Steven Parker comes down to the ring and grabs the mic. He challenges that pretty boy Mainstream Hernandez to face him in the ring (D), to which Hernandez comes out from the back to accept. D -Hernandez beat Parker in 5:42 with Apparition #14. D -In yet another senseless self indulging spot by owner Rip Chord, he is shown out on the golf course with Ryan Turner. He tells him he should never bet against the best in the business as he drops a hole in one on a par 3. He then takes a wad of cash from Turner’s hands and laughs. B (The crowd is getting restless) -Mean Machine wins yet again in the main event. This time he had help from none other than Rip Chord! He distracted the ref while Douglas held Rayne, and MM beat him senseless. Mean Machine is officially the new Mid Atlantic Champion!. Afterward, Rip Chord grabbed the microphone, and said “that is how you win a match!”. C- Attendance-63 Rating C- Week 1, February 2006 In an effort to corral our expenditures a bit, we are moving to a monthly show for a while since we have some sponsorship. That should cover most of our expenses each month. We’ll have a show the first Thursday of the month. Month End Analysis: We’re down to $12,992 in cash after losing just under $4700 in January. But we’ve put on some decent shows so far, and it has brought us along. A local gym and the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL are new sponsors totaling over $7,000 a month in revenue which will help a ton with our expenses. We’ve also been selling quite a few Mean Machine and Rip Chord t-shirts this month to boost our merchandising sales to over $2,000 in January. Grimm
Thursday Crash Course -To start off the show, we see Mainstream Hernandez in Rip Chord’s office. He tells Rip that he deserves a shot at Mean Machine for the Mid Atlantic title. Rip seems to be agreeing, and tells Hernandez he can have his title shot….. IF he can beat the big man, Titan tonight… D -Cameras in the parking garage show a strange car arrive. Out steps an unfamiliar face, a man known as Shooter Sean Deeley. F -In a matchup of musicians, Oscar Golden defeated Rockin’ Ryan Turner in 5:33. E -Newcomer Julian Watson makes his way to the ring, and begins to tell everyone how great he is. No one can beat him, and he’ll prove it. He lays out an open challenge for anyone in the back to face him (F). Shooter Sean Deeley peers out from the back with a microphone. He accepts Watson’s challenge. His stipulation is that this will be a two out of three falls match. F -Deeley clearly dominates the match pinning Watson twice in a row to quickly end the bout at 8:53. It was noted that he used the ropes in the second pinfall. F -Somehow Mainstream Hernandez manages to come out with a win at 5:10 by countout. Titan was just about manhandling Hernandez outside the ring, when Hernandez caught a break. He got back in the ring, and ran over and just cracked Titan’s head with a hard baseball slide. He hit the concrete like a sack of potatoes, and couldn’t make it up before the ten count. D -As Mainstream is celebrating in the ring, Mean Machine comes out from the crowd. He sneaks in the ring with a chair, and just blasts Hernandez in the back. E Attendance-68 Rating E Thursday, Week 4 In an effort to boost attendance and get some quick exposure for the promotion, I took a chance, and signed veteran JD Morgan to a contract. If it doesn’t work out, he’ll be the first to go as he wasn’t cheap. Month Analysis Having one show we only lost $1237 in February, not too bad. Merchandise sales did drop a tad. Salaries were way up, but that was because we signed Morgan at the end of the month. That probably wasn’t a smart move on my part since we automatically had to pay his $1,000 downside. So we could have been only $237 short. Grimm
Goofiest show name of February: 5SSW-“Hey You, What’s That Sound?” Thursday, Week 1-March 2006 Crash Course -A pre show press conference is held to introduce new MAW worker, JD Morgan. After introducing himself and answering a few questions, he issues a challenge to DC Rayne. C- -In a pre show dark match, Eric Strong defeated Al Coleman in 5:50. E -Stan “The Man” Manna makes his way to the ring. He goes on about how he is sick of all the “boy bands” these days and their trash music. He begins trashing on Flash Savage. He says he probably can’t even sing, that he has to lip sink his songs. He then issues a challenge to the little boy toy (D). Flash comes out and accepts his challenge (E). -After an ugly match, Flash Savage defeated Manna after Rockin’ Ryan Turner interfered. The two really put on a stiff effort. F -A Camera is backstage in Rip Chord’s office. He tells his secretary he is feeling good about the direction of MAW, and how he’s going to be raking in the money soon. He then lights up a cigar with what appears to be a $100 bill. B -After a tough fight, DC Rayne came out on top of JD Morgan in 5:26 with the Storm Damage (C+). Afterwards, Morgan gets up, visibly pissed at the ending of the match, and proceeds to beat down on DC Rayne. He tells him he was lucky, and storms off. D -Mean Machine retains the Mid Atlantic title in the main event ladder match. Interference by Ricky Douglas allowed MM to get up the ladder to the belt. C- Attendance-61 Rating C- Month Analysis: Things are status quo right now. We’ll see if hiring JD Morgan was a bad idea. Grimm
Thursday Week 1, April 2006 Crash Course -Backstage, Titan and an unkown worker, who looks familiar, enter the office of Rip Chord. Titan tells him that with the tag titles being vacant, they want to wrestle DC Rayne and Eddie Howard for the belts. After a moments though, Rip Chord agrees. But he says it will be a ladder match, to which Titan smiles. C- -Ricky Douglas defeated Antonio in 6:56 after putting him through a table. Earlier in the match, Mean Machine came down and interfered hitting Antonio with a chair to give Douglas the advantage. E -JD Morgan comes out to the ring for an interview. After a few moments, he challenges Mainstream Hernandez to a match. He pulls out a wad of cash, and says he guarantees a win, and will put $200 on the line. Hernandez comes out, and accepts. C- -Morgan scored the victory at 6:55 when DC Rayne interfered getting revenge for last month’s beatdown, disqualifying Hernandez. C- -A segment is shown with Rip Chord at a pool hall with Julian Watson. After he sinks several shots, it is clear that he has beaten Watson. He tells Watson that his payment for losing will be to help set up the ring for the next show. B -Mainstream Hernandez took the microphone backstage and interviewed Flash Savage for his upcoming match against Mean Machine. Flash was very confident of his chances, assuming there is no interference. D -Natural Storm defeated The Gods of Thunder at 9:48 after DC Rayne retrieved the tag belts. The new partner of Titan was introduced as being Dominion (E). While Rayne and Howard are celebrating, Mean Machine and Ricky Douglas surprise them from behind, and begin beating them down with the title belts. E -In the Main Event, Mean Machine made his first title defense as he beat Savage at 8:42. Though Savage made it a good fight, MM used just about every dirty trick in the book, including a low blow at the end to set up the finish (C-). As Savage is being helped backstage, Mean Machine grabs a mic, and proceeds to rip on Savage saying he’s a lightweight loser, and he will never hold the gold. Savage tries to come back at him, but he is held back by several security men. D Attendance-65 Rating D Sunday, Week 1 We signed Flash Savage to a new contract for 9 months PPA. trypio
Your promotion size has rissen right? If you want more attendance I advice you to have medium events in stead of small one. you'll get about 120-130 people then.

That Crazy Guy
He means in schedule, when you modify an event you can go "Small, Medium, Large or PPV"(Or whatever else). He thinks you should do Medium events. Good diary, Grimm. Hope you can live this up to your two amazing WreSpi diaries. You're doing great at the moment. Grimm
That's what I thought. Yeah, I went with small to start to keep the payroll down. Now that I have sponsors I'm gonna go with an hour show. I hired Morgan based on his C+ overness that I thought might help, but he's not getting good enough match ratings so far to justify it I don't think. He may have to go if I don't start making a bit more money. BTW, thanks for the support. I can see I'm getting some readers, but didn't know how I was doing. It makes it more fun when you know someone is enjoying it. I think this will be more fun than the WreSpi diary. I really got burned out on match after match of the same stuff. And the randomness of who you face makes it hard to make any real storylines out of it.
trypio
I think lots of people read your diary, but most people don't post anything, it's very rare if someone posts actually, except if you have a really original thing. Grimm
Monday Week 1, May 2006 NYC Wrestling has become the first casualty of the year having to close due to lack of funds. We may have to see if we can get any workers on the cheap. Thursday Crash Course -We start off this week’s show with Rip Chord hyping up the opening match between Antonio and Steven Parker, two fine up and coming stars in professional wrestling. F -Before the match gets underway, Antonio goes over to the announcing booth and asks Rip Chord for his autograph, which he wants to give to a young friend who is dying of cancer. Rip obliged to the delight of the fans. C+ -Antonio defeated Steven Parker at 7:48. After some hard hits by Antonio, Parker seemed to motion that he had enough, and wasn’t going to go on any longer and walked off. He was counted out, giving Antonio the win. D -Backstage, JD Morgan is shown playing a game of chess with Ryan Turner. He is having a hard time figuring out his next move as he has been put in “check”. Flash Savage walks by, and in two seconds makes the move for him. Morgan is visibly embarrassed and upset by this. D -Upset over the embarrassment, Morgan comes to the ring and immediately challenges Savage to a match, and wagers $300 that he will beat him in a submission match (C-). Savage comes out and accepts his challenge (C-). -JD Morgan defeats Savage in 7:53 by submission. After an open match, Morgan catches a break when the ref gets knocked down. He capitalizes by putting Savage’s leg in a steel chair and jumping on it, severely hurting his ankle. He then brings Savage into the ring, and gets the submission using an ankle lock on that hurt ankle. C- -DC Rayne and Eddie Howard are shown in the back hyping up their match with Mean Machine and Ricky Douglas. D -Rip Chord makes his obligatory self-hype in the ring, and announces that the fans will see a great matchup of Mainstream Hernandez and Stan “The Man” Manna as boyband meets rock star. D -Manna defeats Hernandez at 6:53. Another tight matchup, though the crowd wasn’t much into it. Manna ended it with the Rockin’ Roller for the win. D -Backstage, Antonio comes by the Natural Storm. He wished them luck in their match, and tells them he is a big fan of them asking them for an autograph for his sister. E -In the main event between Natural Storm and Mean Machine/Ricky Douglas, we had another great match. It was back and forth the entire way until Rip Chord made his appearance. He attacked Eddie Howard, but the ref caught him and ended the match via disqualification at 8:01. C- -At the end of the show, Rip Chord thanks the fans for coming as his limo pulls up to the front entrance. He gets in and leaves the show. B Attendance-65 Rating C- Month Analysis: Doesn’t look too good, we’re down to barely over $1000 cash. I hope this next show will get us over the hump somehow. Grimm
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, SMACK!!!!! “What the….!!!???” I stumbled to the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and splashed some water on my face. After drying off, I went into the kitchen. I stopped in front of the fridge, and just stared. Uncle Vinny (not really my uncle, but I think of him as my uncle) walks by. “Watcha starin’ at kid? Excited about your first day?” I didn’t reply, I was still in shock. There it was, the calendar. It was on December, 2005. I went over to my computer, and clicked on the date, it’s Monday, December 1st, 2005. I can’t believe this. It was all a dream. It was like plain as day, like it was real. I had just gone through my first six months as the head booker for MAW, but it was all a dream. Well, rather a nightmare really. Things just sort of spiraled out of control. By July we were in the red. I didn’t see any way out of the hole. But it was all a dream….. I walked back to the bathroom, and as I brushed my teeth, I noticed it. I actually developed a few gray hairs during the night. Craaaazzzy…… I got to Rip’s house for my first day of work later that morning, still dazed, but ready to go. “So Doug, what’s the first thing on your list to bring this promotion out of obscurity?” asked a chipper Rip Chord. “I’m firing all the woman you hired.” “What??!!” Are you crazy? The fans these days go nuts over good looking babes. “So what? They are costing a fortune. Look at Karen Miller. She’s got a written contract almost three times that of your top star wrestler! Nicole Kiss and Persephone are also at the top of the list per appearance. We need to be lean and mean starting out.” “Wow kid, you definitely have it planned out already. You seem sure this is a good move eh?” “Let’s just say I’ve been through the first six months in my head already.” Week 1, December 2005 My first moves this week were to let go Karen Miller, Nicole Kiss, Persephone, and also Marv Earnest. Marv wasn’t that great of an announcer I’ve heard, and in my dream, having Rip Chord announce seemed to work. I pitched him the idea, also playing up the fame card telling him he would have his face out in front of the fans more that way. It worked, as he agreed. Next I hired a couple of new faces after checking into several young prospects. I settled on two guys, Warren Technique, and Young Leo. Both came at a good price, cheap, and have a lot of talent. Technique is a solid all around talent, with good stamina. Leo is a star in the making with great charisma and ring presence. He also is very sound with the basics. Over the next few days I took a long look at the roster to see where I wanted to go. I decided it was best to not start off too quick. I want to let things build slow, and see where they go. The first couple of shows will just be about getting to know my workers, and how they work in and out of the ring together. I made a few changes of gimmicks, and decided the initial pushes I wanted to go with. Roster: Main Event: -Oscar Golden-face-Currently riding great momentum as a boy band character. -Mainstream Hernandez-face-Also on a great run of momentum as a fun babyface. -The Mean Machine-heel-Current MAW title holder. Currently he is a machine, and good at it. -Ricky Douglas-heel-Douglas has a week straight edge gimmick, with no momentum at all. So he will be held out of shows for a couple months and changing over to a thief gimmick. -Titan-heel-The big man is of course using a monster gimmick, but has no momentum going. -Stan “The Man” Manna-heel-Manna is a rock star character, and part of the tag team Rock City Stars with Ryan Turner. -Eddie Howard-face-Howard plays a legitimate athlete. -DC Rayne-face-Currently a bad ass character, it doesn’t seem to fit too well. I went with a man on a mission gimmick, which I think fits his personality well. Upper Midcarders: -Steven Parker-heel-Straight Edge. -Antonio-face-Currently straight edge, but changing to fan’s own. He’s a great guy, and I like him. I see him as the autograph seeking kid, and I think he can pull it off. -Atlas-heel-Another monster. -Erik Strong-face-Fun babyface. -Flash Savage-face-Another boy band character. He has terrible momentum right now, but I really like him. Midcarders: -Al Coleman-heel-Another Machine. Good momentum right now, which is good since I want to run some cheap shows. -Warren Technique-heel-Another machine, but since he was unemployed, zilch momentum. -Rockin’ Ryan Turner-heel-another rock star, and with good momentum. Lower Midcarder Young Leo-face-currently a prima donna, we’ll see how it works. Besides being the mic man, Rip will play the role of the authority figure since he is the owner. I figure his fame in the ring should bring in a few more fans to the shows. Week 2, December 2005 I booked two matches in hopes of generating some buzz. Antonio will be facing Mean Machine for the MAW title, and Mainstream Hernandez will square off against Erik Strong. Our first show will be this Thursday. I loved the title from my dream, so I’m going to go with it, Crash Course. Hopefully it isn’t an omen of things to come… Thursday Crash Course -Rip Chord comes out to the ring, and thanks the fans for coming to the first show of the new era. After he talks about himself, and how great he is, he hypes up the main event featuring the champ, Mean Machine, versus Antonio. C -As Rip Chord is still in the ring, Al Coleman comes down. He wants to show how good he is in the ring, and wants a match. He doesn’t care who, but he will win. Rip agrees, and says he’ll take on Flash Savage right now. C -The high flying skills of Savage were too much, as he defeated Coleman at 5:56. E -Another worker, Mainstream Hernandez, is also ready to show his stuff. He calls out Erik Strong for a match. C- -Erik Strong came out, accepting the challenge. In a good, close match, Hernandez defeats Strong with the Apparition #14 for the win at 6:47 (D). After the match is over, Strong shakes hands with Hernandez in a show of respect (F). -In the Main Event, Mean Machine defeated Antonio at 5:43. MM took the early advantage after Antonio first asked for an autograph for his nephew. MM took the pen, and jabbed Antonio in the chest. From there is was a very good matchup. But it took the interference of Rip Chord to secure the win (C-). Rip Chord grabs a microphone, and says “this is my show! Doug Holy may be my new booker. But I still make the rules around here. Mean Machine is the MAW champ, and I’ll see to it, he stays that way! (B+). Attendance-64 Final Rating C- Not a bad first show. Not too much drama, but like I said, a good slow start. I was very happy with the fan reaction to this one. The only negative I got from Rip was that we really need some veteran leadership. Mean Machine is the only guy over 22, so we could use some help in that area. We’ll have to sit tight for now though. I was really happy to find out we’d gained some popularity and rose to a “Small” promotion. We only lost $469 thanks to the decent sum of $7328 in sponsorship money. We also made a surprising chunk of over $2200 on merchandise. Including Rip’s $3000, we paid out $5400. Not too bad. Grimm
Week 2, January 2006 Crash Course -Prior to the show, Antonio is shown backstage as he sees Steven Parker. He asks Parker for an autograph, but Parker just shoves him. They start to argue, and Antonio challenges Parker to a match later that night, to which Parker agrees. D -Antonio defeated Steven Parker at 5:37 by DQ. Parker was getting beaten, when he decided to end the match with a bodyslam of Antonio through a table. D -New worker, Young Leo comes out to the ring. He decides to flaunt his greatness telling the crowd he is the best thing since the jock strap. D -Rip Chord has heard enough. He comes down, and tells Young Leo, that since he is so great he will be facing Atlas this evening. D -Atlas totally destroyed Young Leo, pinning him after a vicious Kronus Bomb at 4:46. F -A video was shown hyping the main event between Mean Machine and Oscar Golden. E -Backstage, we see Antonio yet again. He walks by Mean Machine, and again asks for an autograph. He obviously didn’t learn from last month. But surprisingly, Mean Machine obliges and grabs the paper from Antonio (D). As Mean Machine turns his back to write on the piece of paper on a table, Antonio grabs a chair and just nails Mean Machine in the back. He hits him one more time while he’s down, leaving a battered Mean Machine laying out cold. E -Mean Machine slowly comes out to the ring, visibly hurt from the attack. Oscar Golden takes advantage, and defeats him at 5:42 to become the new MAW Heavyweight champion!! (C-) “Not so fast!!!” says Rip Chord. “Mean Machine was attacked prior to the match by Antonio. So this was by no means a fair fight. I’m sorry Oscar my boy, but I just can’t let the title change hands like this. Mean Machine will retain the title. But to make it up to you, I’ll give you another shot next month. As for Antonio, as punishment for that stunt earlier, you will get to face Atlas and your new friend Steven Parker in a handicap match!” (D) -Rip Chord concludes the evening leaving the ring, and coaxing a beautiful young lady out of the crowd with a hand full of $100 bills. B Attendance-68 Final Rating C- I guess the main event saved the overall rating on that show. We lost a bit less money ($278) this month thanks to a lower payroll. I had negotiations with Stan “The Man” Manna over the last couple of days. He asked for $350 a month, which I was up to $400 the first day. But every time I offered more, he said it wasn’t enough. Genadi
Just thought I'd drop you a line Grimm as I read your comment on your diary. I read every diary on these boards, especially the Cornellverse ones(I find it helps me become more used to the characters). Trypio i right about people only posting if they see something they really feel the need to point out. I did after reading your diary. Great job so far! I like the fact that you're using a small promotion with very little overness. It'll keep me interested for sure :) Don't let a low response level bother you, there are definitely people who enjoy it!
Grimm
Thanks Carlito. I'm not worried about the responses, but it helps keep the motivation going when you know people are reading. So far it's not a problem though, as I'm thoroughly enjoying this game (never played the series before). I'm sure everyone has figured out, I restarted the game. I got going a little too fast on show size with the original, and was in the red. I think I have a better strategy this time, and I'll try to resist making the shows bigger too soon. So hopefully we'll get to see MAW rise from an unknown local promotion to a national, or even global size. I think the challege will be very satisfying, not to mention it will make it easier to get to know the roster intimately since I'm not familiar with the Cornellverse. Grimm
Week 2, February 2006 Thursday Crash Course -A video hyping the handicap match between Antonio, Atlas and Steven Parker is shown. F -Rip Chord comes out, glorifying himself as usual, and then mentions the great Main Event rematch between Oscar Golden and Mean Machine. F -DC Rayne came out for his match against Stan “The Man” Manna, and declared that he is a new man, a man on a mission. He will stop at nothing to get to the top of MAW and become the heavyweight champion. Manna will be his first stepping stone. He backed it up demolishing Manna in 5:13, busting him open in a First Blood match. F -Backstage, we see Mean Machine, obviously furious. He says that someone has stolen the heavyweight belt. “Whoever did this is going to pay!”. D -Antonio defeated Atlas and Parker in 5:22. He had some help from Flash Savage who came down and provided a distraction going after Atlas. F -Oscar Golden beat Mean Machine at 6:02, thanks to a DQ when Rip Chord once again interfered. F -Rip got on the microphone, and told everyone about the title belt being stolen, and how he couldn’t let his champ lose something that he didn’t even have to lose. But he’ll really make it up to Oscar giving him a third and final shot next month. This time he’ll guarantee it’s fair, by making it a cage match!!” E Attendance-18 Final Rating-F (I don’t know how I managed this, but somehow we ended up having the show at Breman hall in Europe. Grimm
Week 2, March 2006 Thursday Crash Course -The show opens up with Mean Machine backstage. He walks by Mainstream Hernandez’ locker, and sees his belt in his bag. He grabs it, and shows an angry look on his face. E -Rip Chord strolls to the ring, and begins hyping up the show, and reminds the crowd that they will see a great main event tonight between Oscar Golden and Mean Machine in a cage match. C- -In the first match of the evening, Rockin’ Ryan Turner defeated Young Leo in a two falls match. He pinned Leo twice in a row for the win. F -Mean Machine finds Mainstream Hernandez in back, and attacks him. “You stole my belt punk!!” Oscar Golden comes in to make the save. Hernandez gets up and fires back “I didn’t touch your belt man!!” “Yeah right, Douglas told me you took it, and I found it in your bag!” Mean Machine storms off, while Hernandez says he will make Douglas pay. E -Hernandez comes out to the ring, and challenges Douglas to a match. C- -Douglas comes out and accepts. E -Hernandez was on a mission to defeat Douglas, and was successful as he took him out with the Apparition #14. D -Next, Rip Chord talks up the upcoming main event match at the announcers table. E -In a good tough fight, both men went after each other hard. Golden finally scored the win at 5:56. Once again however, Rip Chord comes down and says that he must interject again. “I cannot in good conscience let you take the belt Golden boy. I think you had something to do with the disappearance of the belt last month. So, pending a further review, the belt will stay with it’s rightful owner, Mean Machine. He asks for a match against Warren Technique. Rip OK’s the match. C+ -An ugly first match was next between Atlas and Erik Strong. Atlas seemed to be hung over, and performed badly. F -Rip Chord followed up the match talking about some car he just bought. Before leaving, he mentions that we will once again see Oscar Golden take on Mean Machine for the title. And this will be his last chance. C -Dynomite defeated Warren Technique with the Atom Bomb at 6:26. E -In the main event, we once again saw a tough matchup. As Oscar Golden looked to be gaining the upper hand, Rip Chord once again came out to trip him up. But this time, Oscar had help, as the new guy, Dynomite, came out to help. Golden managed to finally get the pinfall at 7:19. Do we finally have a new champion??? C- -Rip Chord gets on the microphone, “OK Golden boy, you put on another impressive showing tonight. I was just testing you. You are the new MAW heavyweight champion.” Mean Machine grabbed the mic and followed up “But don’t get too used that belt around your waist. I’ll be taking it back, soon. He is carrying on, making Hernandez look really bad in front of the audience. Mainstream has had enough, and finally just lays into Rip Chord, bashing him in the face with the microphone before walking off. C- -Atlas comes to the ring, and tells everyone that he is bored. The MAW has no wrestlers that can match his power. He lays out an open challenge to anyone in the back man enough to face him. E -DC Rayne comes out, and accepts Atlas’ challenge. juggaloninjalee
You are too worried about using your main eventers on every show. Use your cheapest guys and sometimes use them more than once. Then in the main event use the 2 guys you really wanna use. That will help you save money. Also if you change to a 1 hour show that will make you lose money based on the fact that more people will be used. So just try to cut back on the expensive guys. If you use them then use them multiple times a show. Get your moneys worth! Maybe add a couple shows a month too, if you can and keep this strategy up. You will be making money in no time.
