Guest Ransik Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 http://www.gerweck.net/news/1230531917.shtml What the heck is Aries' problem? Friggin' idiot may have ruined his career and cost RoH everything.
sebsy Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 tbf, if I was out and someone came up to me and told me they wanted to date my gf, I wouldn't be happy. Then again I wouldn't beat the crap out of them as I've never thrown a punch in my life, I just wouldn't be happy
Guest Ransik Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 tbf, if I was out and someone came up to me and told me they wanted to date my gf, I wouldn't be happy. Then again I wouldn't beat the crap out of them as I've never thrown a punch in my life, I just wouldn't be happy Doesn't matter what the kid said to him, I've been told worse than that by kids half that guy's age. Unless it settles out of court, Aries and RoH are gonna be hurting for a long time over this, I'm amazed Aries wasn't fired on the spot.
UFC-KING Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Damn I haven't seen a black eye like that ever..
panix04 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Kid? That dude is atleast early 20's - I doubt very much that he used the exact phrase "I would like to date your girlfriend" either, 'cos lets be honest who speaks like that? More likely he was kind of derogataroy about her. Hell im a lover, not a fighter, but i'd find it hard not to "snap" if somebody was giving me grief about my wife.
sebsy Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>Exactly, he has more than likely said something far more than what he says he said.</p><p> </p><p> 'Oh Mr Aries, I do find your girlfriend to be rather spiffing and it would be my pleasure to escort her out for a meal'</p>
Liamo Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I met Aries and a few other guys at a show in Newcastle, England a few years ago. We had a few jokes with Jonny Storm and he was really cool to talk to, so I find it hard to believe that he was ****y towards them. I doubt that the guy is telling us everything that's happened and he's glossed over a lot of what happened before hand. It sounds - to me - like he's been on at Aries all night and finally pushed him over the edge.
Guest Ransik Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>And no court is going to say; "Well guy, you should've stopped heckling Mr. Aries and this wouldn't have happened."</p><p> </p><p> Aries can lose everything over this... you want to go back to the territory days when wrestlers would fight for their lives by fans trying to stab them.... throwing piss at them?</p><p> </p><p> Sorry but no court is going to find this in Aries' favor regardless.</p>
GatorBait19 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Yeah I am with Liamo, I met Aires about a year ago, and he had no problem talking to people and giving autographs if people asked, I think this kid said something and it pissed him off, and why is this the first time I am hearing about it, i mean it's not on lordsofpain or prowrestling, but maybe i missed it
Derek B Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 It's still al hear say at this point. We've got a guy saying "Austin Aries die this" and that's about it. But the actual facts are so minimal that we really are speculating on little more than that. For all we know the guy grabbed Aries by the nuts and twisted hard, causing Aries to snap at him. Or hell, maybe he ran into a loose fixture and caught himself around the eye. Either way, until more facts come out then I'm treating this as nothing more important than Wrestlemania speculation.
CQI13 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Ransik, that goes both ways though. The kid is free to say what he wishes. He is not free from consequences. Nor is Aries free from the consequences of his actions. I for one think the kid crossed the line, but then again I do believe in common decency. You can heckle the individual all you want, but when you go after family I think it's a bit much.
GatorBait19 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>gerweck.net is saying this</p><p> </p><p> that there was an incident between a fan and Aries and the fan shoved Aries and Aries punched him</p>
ACCBiggz Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>It's to early to say how this will effect Aries or ROH. It's one side of the story and as stated above no one I have known ever spoke like that guy said he did, it would sound ridiculous.</p><p> </p><p> And like someone else said, this is the first time hearing about this.</p>
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 That guy deserved it... If you know that the chick has a boyfriend you should not ask if you can go out with her.. I've seen and talked with Austin Aries a few years back when he was working for NWA Wisconsin and he was very friendly not all that ****y in person.. of course his wrestling gimmick is going to be but he is a very cool dude.
CQI13 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 And if as stated earlier, the guy shoved him, Aries would in fact simply be defending himself. There's no telling what the fan could have/would have done. Obviously that's a small stretch, but still.
Mr T Jobs To Me Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I bet he said he would take Ares' girlfriend out to a nice seafood dinner and then NEVER call her again!
ACCBiggz Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>Yeah, so here it is from a person who was there:</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="20902" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>"~After all this ends Austin Aries punches a fan right in the face. Paul Turner gets involved and looks to have the guy in a choke hold. Security and who looks to be Adam Pearce helps escort the guy out. No clue what started it. Turner gets a standing O and a "Next World Champ" chant."</div></blockquote><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="20902" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>As Aries is walking up the ramp, heeling it up, the fan gave him a chop.</strong> Aries got right in the fan's face and yelled at him, <strong>at which point the fan shoved Aries.</strong> Aries responded with a few punches. The fan's friend began to freak out, and was also grabbed by security. The rest is basically what it says in the main post.</div></blockquote>
Sarcasm Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I have yet to hear Aries side of the story so I'm not sure what to think. The black is something serious though.
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>This is from Wrestlinginc.com</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="20902" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Regarding the incident between Austin Aries and some fans last night, as Aries was leaving the ring, a fan grabbed his shoulder and spun him around. Aries felt as if the fan was going to hit him, so he laid the fan out with one punch. From there, a friend of the fan tried to jump the railing, and Referee Paul Turner got involved at that point to stop any further altercation.</div></blockquote>
Guest Ransik Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>After reading all these updates... I'm still not seeing where Aries had the right to beat the crap out of the guy. The guy chopped him/shoved him/spun him around? Big friggin' whoop.... been there and taken worse from fans. Most every wrestler on the planet has taken far worse from fans than that. Doesn't matter what the fan did to Aries. If this ever goes to court, they're going to see that Aries walked away unscathed from the "assault" and then he beat a fan up instead of having security deal with it.</p><p> </p><p> Remember when that fan came in and shoved Guerrero off a ladder? Eddie tackled the guy and forced him out of the ring so security could grab him... he didn't beat the crap out of the guy mercilessly.</p><p> </p><p> Sorry but coming from both sides of the fence, I would not support Aries in this. You NEVER assault a fan unless there is an immediate and clear danger to your personal well-being. "Fearing" he might attack you doesn't cut it. Every single person sitting in any crowd of anything in the world... be it sports, concerts... any one of them could pose a threat, doesn't mean you just beat the hell out of them.</p><p> </p><p> I'm reading through Bret Hart's book right now... I'm on page 60 and I've already read about a dozen different ways where fans have tried stabbing and killing the wrestlers. Guess what? They didn't try to knock any of them out. Sorry... but Aries is in the wrong, there's no grey area to it. If the guy didn't try to stab or shoot him or even throw a punch... then tough. Aries should've dealt with it like an adult and had the guy thrown out instead of assaulting him.</p>
ACCBiggz Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 <p>Legal things aside... I laughed hard about this. I'd have cheered Aries on and gave him a cookie.</p><p> </p><p> However, it's unknown how this will/would play out in court because of the actual unknowing of facts. I'm not going to speculate one way or the other because there are so many different defenses, counter-suits, appeals, etc. If anything I'd expect this to be settled out of court before anything really comes of it and never heard of again.</p>
Derek B Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 So if someone were to attack you while you were at work, just walk up to you and strike you across the chest, would you not have a problem with that? Would you not consider it your right to strike back if provoked? You can say that it happens, but Ransik, you were the one saying you would sue JBL and the WWE for things that goes on in the locker room. I can't help but feel you have a double standard for what you allow and disallow, and that it all goes towards benefitting yourself. Which is fine, as long as you expect it to be universal, which you don't seem to do. If someone who wasn't part of the wrestling show attacked a wrestler in any way, I say they have the right to defend themself. If Aries did hit the guy, it may not be professional to do so, but it isn't wrong.

If the guy wasn't drunk... then he was on something, cause only... and pardon the wording... a mental retard would just walk up to a wrestler and mess with him sober. So no... if a guy under the influence of something was messing with me, I wouldn't attack them. I haven't worked 5% of the matches Aries has in the last 7 years but I know I've had matches so rough and stiff that some kid messing with me wouldn't cause me to launch an assault on them. </p><p> </p><p> I've had a drunk guy mess with me... I knocked him out after he decked me in the face, thinking he could take me on because I wrestled. Was nowhere near a show and no where near a ring.</p><p> </p><p> And there's a difference between employee harassment and a heckling fan... don't try and mesh the two cause it doesn't work.</p>
Adam Ryland Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 It is absolutely ridiculous to be arguing over an incident which so far is 99% speculation and conflicting, unreliable reports. People are making snap judgments and making dramatic proclamations over what is right and wrong about an incident they know virtually nothing about. This can be re-opened when there are some actual facts to talk about, or at the very least some word from Aries' side of things.
