Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The Introductions... Hello my name is Trevor Dontae. I was a huge fan of wrestling and even tried my hand at pro wrestling when I was 18 years old. Now I'm 28 and have had back problems since the day I first stepped into a pro ring. My body forced me to retire after a short stint in the sport after I could no longer get out of bed to play with my dog or kid. That was 4 years ago. My kids are now 7 and are more active than ever, but that passion still burns within me. I thought to myself, "Should I risk not ever being able to play with my precious kid again or should I be selfish and do what I truly love doing?" Then it hit me. OOC.. I finally have more freetime! lol.. I should be updating this pretty often .. if not twice a week at least.
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Then it hit me... "I can go to the bank and see what I got for money and go from there.. maybe I can own my own promotion." So I got to the bank and checked the ATM for my savings account balance.. for having a kid, a wife, a beautiful house, and two very reliable cars. I've been getting money from my job for the past 7 years, my wife also has her own income, and a father who has always been there for me even when he would bring me out to his job. He worked as a Scouter for the NFL. He wasn't a millionaire but he was sitting good. I slowly raised that bank slip to my face and read the print...
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 As I read the print on the paper my eyes grew wide... I only had $7,000 saved up. How was this gonna help me start a promotion and afford a ring, workers, venues, and still afford to keep my family afloat in this game known as life. I thought to myself.. "If I leave $2,000 in the bank, that should be enough to support my family. With the other 5 G's I can hit up a casino and try my luck at some Texas Hold'em or some Blackjack.. hell even Roulette." So I headed up to the casino looking to win big. I decided I'd play about $1,000 on BlackJack so then I'd still have enough to play some Hold'em later(my specialty if you will.) I did not see this coming...
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 It's time he found out... I hit a slew of good luck. I was quickly up to 5 Grand in winnings.. I now had a bankroll of $11,000. I thought, "If I'm having this great of luck I should be up to what I need in no time." I played another 4 hands won on 3 of them and boosted my bankroll another 3 grand. I finally thought with my good luck I thought I'd tell my dad about what is going on, and what I was gonna end up doing with my life. "Dad, I have some fantastic news for you!" "What is this news? Are you having another child?" "Ha. Not quite dad. You remember when I was doing pro-wrestling? Well I decided that I was gonna get back into it.. but not as a wrestler. I was gonna buy and open up my own promotion!" "Well son that is great. Why are you calling me? You're not asking for money are you?" "No dad. I'm actually at the Casino right now, and I've won almost $10,000!" "Alright! Well don't be a fool and blow it all." "I won't dad.. anyway I was just wondering if when I get this promotion started I was wondering if you'd like to be a Scout/Road Agent for my promotion, given your background and all." "You know what son, you raise the money and show me your true dedication to this and I will become your Road Agent." "Alright Well I love you dad I will talk to you later." "Ok, have a good night Trevor. Remember don't out stay your welcome at the casino." After the phone call it was back to the sound of chips clanking together and the cards being dealt across the felt. With my bigger bankroll going I thought I'd up the ante.. I started betting $2,000 a hand. I won more than I lost. After an hour I was up $20,000 just from Blackjack. Time I hit up the Hold'em table...
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 How does this happen?... I sat down at the first table I found and I put on down half my stack and played on that. I must've been up and down for an hour or two getting very, very bad beats on me. After about two and a half hours.. I was out that entire stack.. I was back down to $10,000. Apparently Hold'em wasn't a good idea. I went back to the Blackjack table and couldn't find the same luck that I had earlier. I lost quite a bit again. I was down to what I started with, $5,000. I figured.. why not try with what I've got left so I went back to the Hold'em table and put down my final amount.
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 What just happened? After a good 5 hours at the casino.. I had lost it all.. I lost the $5,000 that I took from the bank that could've been used for my child's college education. I can't believe I thought this was a good idea. I guess I should call my dad and tell him that there won't be any new promotion coming up. "Uhh... hello dad?" "Yeah, son.. how did you end up? You got enough for that sweet new promotion." "That's what I was calling you for. I lost it all dad.. I can't believe I lost it all.. my hopes were dangled in front of me just to be ripped away in an instance." "Well, you know I..." "Dad, I didn't mean to do this.. I've still got enough to support my family so that's all good. But I really thought I'd be good at this. Maybe I'll just have to wait another 10 years to build up the money for this business adventure." "Son, since it's christmas time. I hope you don't mind a gift of $250,000 to start your promotion.. All I ask is that I get to be along for the ride.. and if this company starts to take a dive that we cut our losses and try to get some money back from it." "A... ar.... are you serious?" I was stunned that he just offered to give me a quarter of a million dollars.. It was probably all he had left from his tenure as an NFL Scout. "I'm serious son. I know how much you love pro-wrestling and I always like those calls I get shortly after RAW about how bad of a show it was and how you could do better. Well.. here is your chance son.. don't let me down." It was like I was twelve again just opening the "big" gift for christmas... I was speechless. "Thank you so much dad.. I will not let you down sir." "Just so you know.. this constatutes as your christmas gift." "It's better than anything I could've gotten anyway dad.. again thank you soo much.. I love you dad."
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Oh, right .. a name! So now I had to come up with a promotion name and a product to get our names out there, yet have it star some of the better up and comers in the business. We need something catchy, something simple that people will remember.. something that will be Elite in the wrestling business.. That's it! "We are Elite Pro-Wrestling. We will stand above the rest and hire some of the new names in the wrestling business that WWE won't give the light of day to." Now I just have to come up with a sweet logo that is eye popping yet readable...
mistaken Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 should not have gambled it all back away 20 grand could have been a nice back yard fed
Tyler Gadzinski Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 I know.. but I thought I'd give it a change of things cuz alot of Diaries start out with the person gambling and winning alot or winning the lottery.. So I figured lets turn it around and have him win alot but not know when to stop. So he tanked.. I should post up the next part later tonight .. or maybe tomorrow since it's New Year's Eve.
supershot Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 So far I'm loving it. I can honestly say I read it all, which is a first. Love how u had him lose it all after winning 10 grand. Really caught me by surprise. Can't wait to read more!
Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 So it took me a few days but I think I came up with a kick-ass logo and a poster for us to put out on the street. I thought I'd ask some friends to help me hit the city and post these up on every telephone pole, doorstep, and some bigger businesses. http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n250/Tylergadzinski/EliteProiscoming.jpg So myself along with some friends went out on the town for an hour or so just posting the posters up everywhere we could think of .. and anywhere that wasn't illegal to post these. As we were passing some out we did get some questions on what it was about. "When do you guys plan on opening up?" "We are actually planning on getting stuff together around January and hopefully hold our first show in mid-January." "Oh yeah, well what kind of talent do you guys have?" "Well, right now.. we don't have any.. we're just trying to hype up the company and then blow everyones mind with our first show." "Maybe I'll come check it out when you guys open up." "Alright man, sounds good .. have a good one!" It's great that people are already looking forward to this opening up. Now I need to get on the phone and find us some talent.. My dad should be able to help us on that part. He is a pretty big wrestling fan and has been to a couple shows around here. I'm sure he remembers peoples names that he liked and didn't like. I should give him a call... OOC.. I enjoy all the comments you guys are giving me.. I know I'm not the best at keeping up a diary .. but as a personal New Year's Resolution I plan on running at least 1 year in my fed.
Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 It's taking off... slowly... "Hey Dad.. it's Trevor, so I came up with a name and logo for our promotion. Also, me and a couple buddies went out and plastered the town with posters." "Oh yeah is that so? What's the name of our promotion 'cause I should have some say in this." "We came up with Elite Pro-Wrestling.. we got great reactions on our posters too. A few people asked us about it." "So have you contacted any talent yet?" "Uhh.. Not yet.. that's why I was calling you dad to see if you had any choices for people you wanted to see in EPW." "Well I'd like to see Chris Hero, Bryan Danielson, Ruckus, Keenan James Sterling & Claudio Castagnoli but those are obvious choices as they are all bigger indy guys.. If you can get them without paying for travel expenses for sure try to get them." "Are there any local talent that you can give me some advice on?" "I tell you what, give me a few days, I'll browse the internet and see who I can find." "Alright dad.. good talking with ya." I've heard of all those people he was talking about, and of course they'd help the promotion.. but I'm afraid some of them will want travel expense money.. and that at the moment we can't afford. I'll look up some people and see who my dad says. I'll give these guys a ring though and see what they'd like...
Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Alright just so people know.. Today I was gonna update this dynasty.. I woke up late at 1030ish hopped in the shower and hung out with my girlfriend for all of an hour then got picked up to go to a wrestling show. And now I'm very sore, it's 3am, and the roads are sheer Ice.. it's awesome.. I will be updating tomorrow, hopefully when I'm not working. Everyone have a great rest of the weekend and enjoy some football(American, not Soccer).
Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Is he ok?... So I never did recieve a phone call from my dad the next day.. or the day after for that matter. I did however get an email from him listing people he wanted me to contact.. "Hey kid, I know I haven't called you like I said I'd do but my phone doesn't get reception out here in Illinois. Anyway, I was at a couple shows around the Chicago area and heard alot of good things about a number of people. Here is a list of people that I think you should contact about your new promotion... Austin Aries - I know he hasn't been the greatest worker lately with the whole punching out a fan, but, he is a fantastic worker and he lives in the Milwaukee area. I think you should contact him and see what he would like. Arik Cannon - He is an amazing worker and is very well known in the area. He works alot of shows which might be bad as he might miss a show here and there, but, his presence is just un-avoidable. Send him an email. Elijah Burke - I know he doesn't quite live in the area, but, he was just released from WWE and he definately has alot of potential and we need to contact him before TNA gives him an offer. We need a bigger star to help the image of the promotion. Danny Daniels - I talked with this guy for quite awhile he is a very nice person and a decent worker. Good news is he lives around here so he shouldn't ask to much for travel costs. He's 31 year's old and is seems to almost be hitting his peak. We should get him in before he hits the peak and we miss it. Zach Gowen - You should know Gowen. He worked for WWE a few years back. A phemoninal worker, especially for a one-legged human being. He hasn't done much in the area lately but he does live in Michigan. Adam Pearce - To say he's a great worker is an understatement. He is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and would be a great person to help train the younger guys as well as be a main guy for EPW. He does still work for ROH last I checked but it shouldn't be written so we can bring him in as well. Madman Pondo - He is a great Hardcore worker.. I wouldn't contact him right away unless we really need another worker. We should try to stay away from Hardcore as most people now days find it as Garbage wrestling. We don't want to be known as the next CZW.. we want our own thing going. Chance Prophet - This is one guy I didn't really see much of but heard numerous good comments about the man. He works for JCW quite often I was told so he must live in the Great Lakes area. I've also been told that he's been getting better with every match he has. He's got a unique gimmick too that sounded interesting and I hope we sign him so I can see this gimmick at work. Mike & Todd Shane - Good 'Ol Gymini.. remember these guys from WWE awhile back. They weren't real impressive in WWE but on the indy circuit these guys are amazing together. That and we need at least one established tag team while we start up. Salvatore Thomaselli - Thomaselli is another great tag team worker but I think he can pull out a good single's run with us. He's probably one of the least known/most talked about workers. I'd try contacting him as soon as possible if I were you. Anyway, those are people I think you should look into signing. Did you send out emails to people yet?"

Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 He did it to me... So after reading his E-Mail I waited a few days so I could hear back from a few people before I sent him an E-Mail.. "Hey dad, it's alright that it took you a bit, I appreciate all the work you're doing.. but you couldn't bring me to Illinois! I'm just kidding dad. I hope you and mom had fun down there. Anyway, I did contact a numerous amount of people and got responses from most of them and alot of them were busy persuing other wrestling promotions. Out of your list I contacted them all. I heard back from all of them and will be sending you another E-Mail letting you know which members I have signed and which I didn't. We do have a roster of 20 people including a ref. Now all we gotta do is wait for our first show to happen. I'm so excited about it! Well it's time I go back to setting up stuff for the first show.. I still gotta contact a few places that are interested in bringing us in." What he doesn't know is that the first show is bound to happen probably on the day of the new year...
Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 "Hey dad, I thought I'd send you an E-Mail letting you know who I've currently signed and who I couldn't get to come in. Starting with who I couldn't get in.. Jack Evans - He was very friendly about everything but he was just already stretched on contracts. Chris Hero - He wanted to keep his focus mainly on IWA: MS and that's understandable. Bryan Danielson - Was busy on tour with NOAH but maybe someday we can bring him in. Ruckus - He was stretched on contracts. Claudio Castagnoli - He too was stretched on contracts. Nick & Matt Jackson - This was the first tag team I contacted and talked with them for about a half an hour and they kept saying they wanted Merchandise revenue, higher pay, and a title run. We don't have time for big headed pricks. Austin Aries - I couldn't bring him in, not 'cause of the image he has lately but because he wants to stay loyal to ROH. So those are the people I was not able to sign. Here is a glimpse at who I was able to sign. This man has been floating around the Great Lakes indy scene for quite some time now. He is a tremendous athlete that needs a home. He is an Anarchist but by no means does it mean he will bring this company down. With his skills and abilities he can only help us rise.
