wilts Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 So we have had 2 new superstars/gimmicks debut recently, 1 in TNA and 1 in WWE. Both generated quite a bit of interest from their promos, but both seem to have fallen flat on their face and leave a lot to be desired. I would say with the debut of Suicide and Kizarny, both TNA and WWE have seriously dropped the ball. I assume most agree with this? What do you think? Also, what other wrestlers have there been the generated a world of interest with promo vids pre-debut, but then lost all interest as soon as the made their ring entrance?
Self Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I heard that WWE lost confidence in Kizarny a while back, which sort of bums me out because I thought he was a potentially interesting character with a good look. I should get around to watching Smackdown to check him out in the ring. It's a shame WWE have had cold feet with him. They need some fresh meat bouncing around.

He is one of the first new characters in a long time that has interested me at all.....bummer
FINisher Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Kazarian got injured, that's why. I heard that they were considering the option of someone other behind the mask.
Self Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Any idea why? He is one of the first new characters in a long time that has interested me at all.....bummer I'm guessing it's something to do with his general in-ring skill... or maybe it was one of those 2am ideas that seem REALLY awesome at first, but a few days later you get bored of it. All of those accusations of 'wrestlecrap' can't have helped. I just saw his match with MVP on Smackdown, and... Yeah. This is one of the problems WWE has with new characters. Everyone wrestles the same. Kizarny has a few eccentricities, he's no Braden Walker, but other than a bit of slithering he doesn't have anything unique. If he'd come to the ring on an elephant, or did a bit of fire-eating, and freaked out MVP before destroying him, or stealing a cheap win, maybe people would take notice. Something sudden and entertaining, without letting people realise "Oh wait, he's another guy who does headlocks... I wonder what's on the other channel"
Hyde Hill Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Kazarian got injured, that's why. I heard that they were considering the option of someone other behind the mask. He got injured twice actually first idea was to have him debut at bound for glory then injury made em delay that and now he is injured again. Mainly the first injury cost a lot of heat as premairing at the premier event plus the fact that the impact game was then still recently released cost a lot of heat. Now with the second injury they are seriously considering putting someone else in the suit. Running joke in TNA is to do Christopher Daniels and have him get fired at the next feast or fired again! lol. Personally I like Kaz a lot better then this whole suicide stuff. Glad they got rid of curry/super eric etc now for petey to become petey again and lethal to become lethal and leave the comic releaf/sympathy jobber to Shark Boy and the x - division can get serious again especially now that the fallen angel can return as himself.
djthefunkchris Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I don't know about the guy in TNA, but that Kazarny character didn't interest me at all. I would go get my drink, go to the restroom, or whatever whenever his promo come on. The only thing I did like was the carny connection, but that talk he did I hated. Pluss my son for some reason understood him completely and told me it was stupid what he was saying... My name is Kizarny Rides, Fun, Kids, Cotton Candy What's not to like My name is Kizarny I really think his promo's sucked, and no one really liked watching them.

Self Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 They dropped the ball on Curry Man. When he first turned up it was awesome. He was hot. He was spicy. He tasted great. His entrance was an event, his outfit was different, and Daniels was able to perform to an exciting enough level to keep the crowd interested. That's how you bring in a new character. People instantly noticed he was different, without the announcers needing to explain why you should care. He should have been X-Division Champion.

Masked Superstar Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Ok... maybe I am alone here but I love both these new characters. I say characters as I think both gimmicks rule. I watched the debut of both and I agree Kizarny is... just not skilled. Can't put it any other way. The only thing that they could do to get this guy over (maybe probably not even though) is have him breath fire surrounded by carnival freaks. Good thing he has friends in the company, but that probably won't even save him. Kaz is very skilled and could do wonders for the Suicide gimmick if he would quit getting injuried. The gimmick itself has been so oversaturated that they can't just nix it now. They gotta find someone else to fill the void. I hope whomever retains to hood has the skill level to pull it off. I have mentioned this in other threads numerous people could do it.
GDE71 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I'd just say that Kizarny and MVP don't click at all. The bout dragged in the middle. I did like his finisher. Going to give him another couple of matches.
Tyler Gadzinski Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The Kizarny talk was a way for wrestlers to communicate during a match without the fans knowing what they were saying.. a little fun fact for ya. I haven't seen Kizarny's debut, but then again I always liked him better as Sinn.

Also, what other wrestlers have there been the generated a world of interest with promo vids pre-debut, but then lost all interest as soon as the made their ring entrance? I can't say this about either guy yet. The way my schedule has fallen, I've only gotten to see Suicide ONCE since he debuted. And that was in a brief "save Shane Sewell from himself" appearance. As such I don't feel I have enough frame of reference to cast judgment on his character. I was glad enough to see him because of the storyline. But the "OH MY GOD!! IT'S SUICIDE!!" moment had already occured a few weeks earlier. So having heard I'd missed his debut kinda dulled the experience of seeing him for the first time. As for Kizarney, he's is to me as far from Bigger Disappointment as you could get. Up until his debut against MVP, I only wanted one thing from Kizarney. For him and his screwball vignettes to just go away and leave me alone. I wasn't absorbing the full point of his gimmick so I had no use for him. Then he debuts and OH MY GOD!! Give me my Kizarney. Not only does his ring style spark happy memories of Devon Storm in WCW as Crowbar. But then JR talks about his carnival background being a throwback to the beginnings of pro wrestling. A point that had been previously lost on me trying to wrap my head around his introduction videos. In Cappy Land, Kizarney is a breakout surprise. I can't wait to see him next week. If WWE treats him like a disappointment, THAT will be the real disappointment as far as I'm concerned.

I also read that there's a running gag going around TNA lockerroom that Christopher Daniels should be replacing Kazarian as Suicide so that they can fire him for the third time in next years Feast or Fired Forgot ya reading glasses finisher?
FINisher Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 .. Or I just didn't read what others said Maybe I'm getting too old.. Turned 22 a month ago
Masked Superstar Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 for those who haven't seen Kizarny debut or Suicide's even they are both up on youtube which is where I saw them. .. Suicide's is alot better than Kizarny. BUT if ya bored and have time go check em out.
The Masked Orange Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I love Kizarny. In his match they didn't really show what he could do, but he INVENTS loads of moves, does a lot of old-school styling and has a gimmick, which in itslef makes me like him. His Double-Arm DDT Body scissor combination is incredible. Say that ten times fast. He innovated the Hel-Bow. He, is going places. He is what I want from a wrestler. He's got new moves, but still is a classic, old-school wrestler, and has a lot of uniqueness at the same time. When I first saw him, I thought Paul Burchill looks different. Now, I'm trying to buy Kizarny merchendise. Do they have any yet?
Thomnipotent Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I'd just say that Kizarny and MVP don't click at all. The bout dragged in the middle. I lol'd.

I haven't seen Kizarny's debut, but then again I always liked him better as Sinn. You absolutely sure of that? I know they talked carney talk all the way up to around the 80's or so, and still some of the old timer's still use it on occasion, but I don't think it was so simple. I'm no expert, but I thought it was a bit more complex then Pig Latin (or the rip off Kazarny thing).
