sabataged Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Okay we are on the cusp on Royal Rumble which starts the yellow brick road to Mania. I'd like to get a good predictions thread going here, and then 3 months from now we can look back on it and say if anyone was close. The rules for the simple game are book a minimum of 5 matches for Mania and pick a Royal Rumble winner.
sabataged Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Cena vs Orton - World Title HHH vs Edge - WWE Title Christian vs Jeff Hardy - Revenge Match JBL vs HBK - Career Match Undertaker vs Umaga - Some sort of gimmick Jericho vs Kennedy - Raw vs SD match MITB - MVP, Benjamin, Matt Hardy, CM Punk, Morrison, Kingston, Mysterio, Swagger Royal Rumble Winner- Orton I really wanted the Rumble winner to be Batista even though I despise Batista. I wanted a Cena vs Batista main event with Orton in Money in the Bank match. Then at the end when Cena had won the match Orton cashes in his title shot and defeats Cena to end the show. That would be epic. I guess if they wanted to they could still pull off the same angle with Jericho winning rumble to go on to face Cena, lose then Orton cashes in but it sounds way better with Batista.
Woodsmeister Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Cena vs Undertaker Triple H vs Edge Jeff Hardy vs Christian - TLC JBL vs Shawn Michaels CM Punk vs Randy Orton vs Kennedy vs Mysterio vs Kingston vs Bourne vs Benjamin vs MVP Rumble: Undertaker
CQI13 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Cena vs Orton Triple H vs Edge J. Hardy vs Christian - Grudge match Michaels vs Undertaker - what has been a tradition on the SD vs Raw MVP wins MiTB Regal vs Punk (IC title -- wishful thinking I know) Orton wins the Rumble, going after Cena's belt.
The Shape Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Hmm, need pretty much four main matches, usually there'd be Taker, two title matches, and a celebrity match, but I'm thinking that if they do do HBK/Taker it could actually end up being for the World Title. Along with something involving Jeff/Matt/Christian for the WWE title (triple threat would be good) and Edge/Triple H as the big grudge match. Along with some random celebrity match maybe featuring Miz/Morrison or Orton or whatever. Hell edge/trips could even be the one they try to get media attention with, would certainly explain the bizarre storyline move, so maybe they'll bring someone in on that. I think a lot more will be made clear after Vince shows up in a couple of weeks, surely that'll begin building to something with the angle between him/steph/shane.
GatorBait19 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Cena vs Orton for World Title Taker vs HBK Christian vs Jeff Hady for WWE Title Morrison wins MITB Matt Hardy vs Jack Swagger for ECW title Edge vs Big Show for Vicky Guerrero (I don't know why I just have a feeling that one could maybe turn face soon) Triple H vs Vlad Orton wins rumble
The Masked Orange Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 STOP THE PRESSES. If, at the royal rumble, CHristian inteferes AGAINST Edge, that means that would be a grudge mstch, leaving Jeff to face someone at Wrestlemania for the title. And, this is were I lose sight of common reality, he could be the one to retire Taker. Jeff lost all momentum after losing five PPV's in a row, then winning from a very short Edge reign. As part of the "new Jeff Hardy", he could snap after being beaten by Taker at No Way Out, and end the streak, and Taker at Wrestlemania. But, it's probably gonna be HBK...

To be fair there would be riots at Mania if Jeff Hardy beat 'Taker. I would like to see Jeff snap and beat a high profile name at Mania though like you said. I reckon 'Taker will retire with the streak intact, but if it must end then WWE are missing out on a massive opportunity in not having Kane involved in it ending.
GatorBait19 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 i don't see taker losing to HBK at Mania, the talk with the streak was it would either be a guy they thought would be the next big thing or no one at all, someone like Cody Rhodes, Ted Jr., or even Orton, but not HBK, HHH, or anyone already a main eventer
Trell Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I see Ted Jr. getting the win, I think they are gonna try to push him hard when he comes back
GatorBait19 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I see Ted as maybe being the one to beat Taker and Mania, just not this year more than likely next year
Derek B Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 If someone has to retire Undertaker and/or take the Wrestlemania streak from him, I would like to see Orton do it. They're last WM match together was excellent and with Legacy behind him, I think it would be a nice thing to do... ... but I have to admit, it would be an epicly sweet character twist if the son of the man who brough Taker to the company was the one who retired him. But I can't see Ted Jr being anywhere near the position to do so for at least a couple of years... sadly.
GatorBait19 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Ted would be great and yeah you are right in a way, not this year but by next year I could see it, he has a famous father that could help his pop. a little, but he is good in the ring and I think he does well on the mic, Orton and Batista both rose to fame with Ev. in a short time period I don't see why they can't, I even see one (Rhodes or DiBiase) winning the King of the Ring this year if they bring it back also an idea, I know there are still Raw talent but if Legacy stays together for awhile maybe Reid Flair and Joe Hennig?
CQI13 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Why not Batista? Because he's too old for anyone to really benefit.
James Casey Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Ted Dibiase is certainly the name that keeps cropping up, and there's more than a year to prep him for WM26 - even if 'Taker is ready to go by then.
CQI13 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 what do you mean? Batista turns 40 this year. Has already been champ multiple times. He's far too injury prone. Him beating Taker next year would prove nothing. And benefit no one.
Tripps04 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Here is my take on it from TEW game. Has gotten great ratings already October Wk4 2009 Oct Wk 4 JBL interfer's in the Undertaker's World Title Match Nov Wk 1 Next week on Smack Down JBL explains why (That the Undertaker is washed up and should just quit) Nov Wk 2 JBL wins a match (Arena turns purple after match) Nov Wk 3 JBl wants a answer to what happened (Undertaker asks for a match at the PPV) Nov Wk 4 JBL is found in the back layed out next to a coffin Nov Wk 4 (PPV) Undertaker defeats JBL Dec Wk 1 JBL tells the crowd that he wants the Undertaker at Dec's PPV in a Casket Match Dec Wk 2 JBL taunts the Undertaker showing him that he has someone making a Casket just for him Dec Wk 3 JBL wins a match this time the Undertaker brings out JBL's casket Dec Wk 4 Just a hype video from both Dec Wk 4 (PPV) JBL beats the Undertaker with help from Hell's Bouncer (gonna use the Cornelvesrse Pic not sure who is gonna play him though I was thinking Matt Morgan who I just signed) January 2010 Throughout the whole month no word from the Undertaker, JBL and his Bouncer have been destroying everyone. At the Royal Rumble right after JBL enters the arena turns dark and the Titan tron flashes the Number 17-0. JBL freaks out thus eliminated from the Rumble. Feb 2010 Much of the same week after week, JBL wins a match then the 17-0 starts flashing. More Hype if and when the Undertaker will return. Flash forward to Wrestle Mania 26 JBL vs The Undertaker (18-0 on the line) The Undertaker wins thus continuing his streak, but after the match a dark figure comes down to the ring (Picture James Mitchell) he tells the Undertaker that he has satisfied his contract and he can now "Rest in Peace", he looks into the ring at Hell's Bouncer and tells him that his time is now and he will be his Soultaker.... (kinda playing of the comic book, Ghost Rider)
GatorBait19 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 James Mitchell? why not Paul B. or Ted Dibiase but the idea works, but I would say against someone besides JBL, maybe just because I hate JBL, but anyways the Hell's Bouncer idea works but I'm not sure about Morgan, I think someone dark and mysterious, even new like Kevin Thorne, if they actually didn't build him and then forget about him, but someone dark and powerful, even some dumb angle where they bring in a new red monster and new Deadman, and have them battle Kane and Taker at Mania (Only because there have been reports of Kane wanting to retire) it could be huge even having Paul B. come back at the end and tell them their times have come, ring goes up in fire and they get sucked into the pits on hell (or just dragged under the ring) and then Paul B. manages the two new brothers of destruction until they end him to
Tripps04 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I like the idea of Paul B. but he left the business in my game, plus I needed something to do with Morgan, and he had good menace stats.
GatorBait19 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Naw go for it, I was saying in like real life, problem with Morgan is he doesn't have the look like that, see Taker was an Indy name and not many knew about him but when he came in he had that look, I say find someone and give him the look before on TV and then hopefully he can cut a promo and wrestle, Morgan was killed to me by WWE because of the whole stutter thing, I mean TNA is using him better but still
GatorBait19 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 and also I say if there is an HBK vs Taker at Mania, why have it in a Hell in a Cell! i mean they started it, and it's in their home state
The Shape Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 No HIACs at Mania...please. HIAC this year should be reserved for Jeff's involvement xD
GatorBait19 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 lol no I said that because this could be a so called last match, and if I remember correctly they are the 1st two men to perform in one and it never had a true finish cause Kane attack, but a Hell in a Cell would be awesome with Hardy, but I would love to see Taker vs HBK Hell in a Cell II
