mike b Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 From latest reports it looks like Micro Soft might be Dumping Windows Vista soon.It looks like they are coming out with a whole new software and insiders say Vista might be going bye bye. Here is a look at the new program which is in the beta stage. http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/09/windows-7-beta-goes-public/
Blasphemywebleed Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 It will be a good while before I consider an upgrade. Windows XP 64-bit for me.
ACCBiggz Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 This has been out for quite some time. From all indications that I've read of Windows... Seven? Is that whats it called? Anyway, from all reports it has been said that it is very good and will be the replacement of XP. Obviously I can not confirm this, but from what I've read. I think Spring 2010 was the hopeful release date or something.
Midnightnick Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Oy, and to think. My new computer is Vista.
darthsiddus2 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 ya mine is too..... well.... off to buy windows 7 then

fatallylost Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 But.. but, those Windows mojave commercials. Vista is obviously the best thing since porn, well, for a computer anyway. Oh wait, that's right, I shot vista, and replaced it with XP on my machine. Funny how in over a year, I've had less issues that I did in the 3 months of vista.

I think thats why they did the mojave commercials. The feed back from the buyers in general was not that great.Plus another thing im wondring ... how long was windows 7 in the planning stages for??? makes you go hmmmmmmmm.

Capelli King Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Vista was\is terrible, i know allot of people which moved back to the XP, which shows how bad it is. I still have XP on my machine:p
wilts Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Vista was\is terrible, i know allot of people which moved back to the XP, which shows how bad it is. I still have XP on my machine:p Sorry, I hate Micro$oft as much as the next bloke, but Vista isn't terrible. It is like anything tech related, if you know what you are doing then it is ok and have a good machine then it is pretty decent. If you are thick as 2 planks of wood and have a good machine, it is bloody amazing. But, if you are thick as 2 planks of wood, or know what you are doing and have a **** machine, then it is ****! Sorry, but as in every aspect of life, people love to just jump on the bandwagon without really knowing what they are talking about.
D. Boons Ghost Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 ... Sorry, but as in every aspect of life, people love to just jump on the bandwagon without really knowing what they are talking about. And if Vista wasn't so problematic for so many people, there would be no bandwagon to jump on. Gotta love the 'if your computer stinks and/or you have no clue what you're doing, you'll think Vista stinks' nonsense. It's pretty much the same spiel Windows users have always pulled out their hats. In this case, they are way off base. Sorry, but you do know that knowledgeable people with brand new computers are switching back to XP, right? Tough to explain all of them away with a 'Well, they all must be a dopes. I've had no problems Ever!' slants. Obviously Windows agrees, or they wouldn't be throwing out yet another OS so quickly after having put so much money into Vista marketing.
joose2001 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I bought a Vista machine and Im now dual-booting XP and dont even bother with Vista now... for the simple reason that it sucks with the nVidia drivers (so many problems with games crashing etc etc) So untill either nVidia or Microsoft deal with the issue, Im sticking with XP where I know things work
darthsiddus2 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 that's the problem I have with the nVidia drivers but VistaSP1 I think took care of that. I'm playing on saints row 2 and haven't had a crash but I have an uber gaming rig lol
Capelli King Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Sorry, but as in every aspect of life, people love to just jump on the bandwagon without really knowing what they are talking about. I think you do not know what you are talking about, i had both XP and Vista and i sure know what i am talking about;) What i hate most about it is that it is irritating, asks too many questions, uses up far too much ram and they have increased the click count needed to do exactly the same tasks. Besides that, if Vista was such a huge success, then why is it getting so much criticism? Wait, do not bother answering that, i guess you will just be rude again;)
panix04 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Is Vista problematic? Unless it was responsible for killing my hard drive (which I dont think it was!) then I would say no! Perhaps im a lucky minority!

Sorry, but as in every aspect of life, people love to just jump on the bandwagon without really knowing what they are talking about. I bought a computer with vista on it, one that could more than handle it. It sucked, it blew, it constantly crashed. Yeah, It's me. I've probably been using computers longer than you've been done watching Power Rangers... so, please don't use blanket statements.
Moe Hunter Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I honestly don't think Vista is bad. Again all I have to go by is personal experience - I haven't had an problems with Vista since it came out of Beta. I installed W7 on my flatmate's new computer, and it runs really well. It's certainly designed to have a whole ton of different programs running at once, at least the way the new taskbar works. I like the intuitive Maximizing and docking/splitscreening. I like the button at the bottom right for going to Desktop - I always use Win+D, but for dragging a file from a maximized explorer window on to the Desltop is now possible and practical with it - nice. Changing the topic ever so slightly - IE8. I'm using it here and I've found that it's treating the "Quick Reply" button (not just on this forum) as a "Quote and Reply" button. Going in to Compatibility mode works fine, as it should, but just wondering if anyone else had noticed this?
Vladamire Dracos Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 It reminds me of Windows ME (Windows, the "Mistake Edition" as dubbed by PC World Magazine). It had about as long a push too. I feel sorry for the poor suckers who recently bought into Vista or bought into it expecting a Windows 98 or XP product life.
