Ring of Honor Newswire

February Week 1, 2009

Monday – Ring of Honor management are said to be very happy with the turnout for “Born Champion” weekend and are looking forward to the upcoming “Proving Ground 2009” weekend, our first of many big weekends in Ring of Honor for 2009, the name of the weekend is very fitting as ROH will be looking at many talent over the weekend to see what they bring to the table for Ring of Honor, among those already signed to take place in Proving Ground 09 Weekend are :

Franky Tha Mobster

Apollo Kahn

Alex Payne

Brent Albright

Go Shiozaki

Naomichi Marufuji

The Briscoe Brothers

Claudio Castagnoli

Steen & Generico

And many others

Tuesday – Ring of Honor front office received an anonymous e-mail stating that the “Hottest Free Agent” will be revealed at Proving Ground 09 weekend, the email, received from hottest.free.agent@gmail.com claimed that nobody in Ring of Honor could compete with him and is coming only as a favor to Ring of Honor management, to help boost their show attendance.

Tuesday – “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson, who received much punishment to his sternum has been seen by doctors and has been advised to take a small break, however, being the “Best in the World”, Danielson does not want to disappoint the Ring of Honor fans and has vowed to compete during Proving Ground 09 weekend.

Wednesday – After word of the email that Ring of Honor officials received regarding the “Hottest Free Agent”, Ring of Honor’ own Super Agent, “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney finally came forward to admit that he and Sweet & Sour, Inc were behind the messages, paying off the production crew to display the logo of the “Hottest Free Agent” and that he will be the one to introduce Ring of Honor to the Hottest Free Agent at Proving Ground 09 weekend, going as far to issue an open challenge for both nights of Proving Ground 2009, claiming that anyone who accepts this challenge will fall at the hands of the Hottest Free Agent

Wednesday – ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness has been discussing Proving Ground 09 weekend with Cary Silkin, claiming that with his defeat of Bryan Danielson at Born Champion, he believes that he has earned a weekend off from defending the ROH World Title, Cary Silkin is in the process of trying to find an opponent for Nigel McGuinness, however, seems to be running into a wall, we’ll keep you updated.

Thursday – Three matches have been announced for Proving Ground 09 weekend, on the first night we’ll be seeing a 6-man tag team match involving The Briscoe Brothers teaming up with Claudio Castagnoli going up against ROH World Tag Team Champions Kevin Steen & El Generico and a partner of their choice, Kevin Steen has assured us that they will make a decision and let ROH officials know as soon as they have their partner, The Briscoe Brothers nor Claudio Castagnoli have been able to be reached for comment since the night of Caged Collision, also signed for Proving Ground weekend have been a re-match from Death Before Dishonor VI, FIP Champion, Go Shiozaki will go one on one with Naomichi Marufuji… We’ll also see MsChif defend the SHIMMER title against the supposed #1 contender, LuFisto.

Thursday – As soon as the Newswire was updated yesterday, Ring of Honor officials received the first of what would be many calls throughout the day and Cary Silkin, feeling that “Fair is Fair” has given the open challenge for the first night to the first person to get through, which was Roderick Strong, the second night has not been decided yet, as soon as it is announced, we will make the ROH fans aware of it.

Friday – Ring of Honor officials received a disturbing note on the front door as they were showing up this morning, the note was stuck to a wood post right before the front door, stuck in with a switchblade knife, with the branding of the Age of the Fall, the note simply said “One Last Time”

had meant to do this from the start, so rather than going back and doing all of December, I’ll just post the major happenings.

At WWE Armageddon the WWE Tag Team Titles changed hands when Chavo Guerrero & John Morrison defeated Carlito & Primo for the titles.

And that’s the end of the major changes… Here are the WWE shows by week in January 2009, finishing out with The Royal Rumble

Presents

Proving Ground 2009

Night 1

[Fade in from the ROH logo, the chanting and we’re treated to seeing “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney standing before the camera, pan back and we’ve got Sweet & Sour Incorporated behind him, Tank Toland, Bobby Dempsey, Adam Pearce, Sara Del Rey, Eddie Edwards, Franky Tha Mobster, Apollo Kahn, Go Shiozaki, Davey Richards and Chris Hero, Sweeney cackles they all move out of the way to show a mannequin wearing a mask, Sweeney puts his arm around the mannequin]

Sweeney : Ring of Honor, take a good look, I made a promise and I intend to keep my promise, “The Hottest Free Agent” in professional wrestling is here and tonight, Larry Sweeney will reveal him to the world, it’s going to be a shock to the world, but what’s not going to be shocking? What’s not going to be shocking is when the ROH fans sit back and watch as Sweet & Sour, Incorporated go undefeated this weekend! Franky & Apollo are going to smash that ingrate Erick Stevens and “Sugarfoot” Alex Payne, not to mention Go Shiozaki when he once again shows Marufuji who is the dominate Japanese wrestler in Ring of Honor then goes on tomorrow night and defends the FIP Title against Roderick Strong, then of course, we’ll have “That Young Knock Out Kid” Chris Hero cementing himself a shot at the ROH World Ti-

[Davey Richards interrupts]

Davey : Wait a second Larry, I didn’t get involved with Four Corner Survival so that your golden boy over there can wrestle for the World title, I got involved because I want to wrestle for the World title

[Now Hero steps up, with Sweeney standing in between them]

Hero : You got a problem Davey? You heard what Larry said when we all agreed to this, the objective is for ME to go on and punk out Nigel McGuinness, ME… NOT YOU

Davey : The only thing that I heard Chris is that there was a chance for a World title match

[sweeney starts waving his arms around as they start stepping closer to each other]

Sweeney : Boys! Boys! Boys! Why do we have to argue about this?

Davey : I’m sick of pretty boy over there thinking that he’s the top dog in this group, if it wasn’t for me, Sara and the boys, he wouldn’t amount to S**T!

Chris : You got a problem with it boy, why don’t you step up and get [slaps his elbow hard] KNOCKED OUT, just like Juvy and Delirious are gonna tomorrow night?!

[Davey glares at Hero, then sneers and walks off, Sweeney sighing and we cut to ringside]

DP : It’s Proving Ground weekend Lenny Leonard and tonight we will finally have an answer to the cryptic messages, the “interference” if you will from Larry Sweeney’ “Hottest Free Agent”

LL : And of course, it’s one of the thorns in Larry Sweeney’ side, Roderick Strong, stepping up to take the challenge of the Hottest Free Agent

DP : Don’t forget tomorrow night when the Hottest Free Agent faces off with ROH’ very own measuring stick, “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson

[“Addicted to Love” cues up and Rhett Titus does his gyrating entrance along with a “new” Top of the Class trophy (in actuality, it is the same trophy that Delirious destroyed in Chicago during the Rising Above taping all glued, taped and screwed back together, and covered up with band-aids]

DP : I’m thinking that the Top of the Class trophy has seen better days Lenny

LL : Indeed it has, however, what we are seeing is the result of the match that Rhett Titus and Delirious had in Chicago during the Rising Above taping, after the match Delirious flipped out and began to smash the Top of the Class Trophy, which everyone assumed would be the end of the trophy

[Rhett is giving the trophy to Paul Turner and showing him over and over where he has to hold the Trophy to show it off]

Rhett Titus vs Grizzly Redwood

ROH Top of the Class Trophy

• As Paul Turner was showing the trophy to Grizzly, one of the pieces of the bottom fell off, Grizzly, already looking at it with contempt simply shook his head and yelled “I don’t want that damn thing”

• Very short opening match, saw Grizzly using all of his lumberjack offense to try to chop down Rhett

• In the end, Rhett Titus was attempting a neckbreaker, but Grizzly turned it into a backslide, picking up the win and was awarded the Top of the Class Trophy

Winner and NEW Top of the Class Trophy holder : Grizzly Redwood

Match Rating : D-

[After the match, Grizzly manhandled the Trophy until all of the pieces were flying around the ringside area, giving the fans something to take home with them]

DP : Grizzly Redwood, apparently not a big fan of the Top of the Class Trophy, sending the fans home with a nice souvenir!

LL : Grizzly better be careful, Rhett Titus will be coming back after that trophy and now he doesn’t have a trophy to give, should he lose it back to Rhett Titus.

[logo across the screen and the lights are out with the screams going off, Tyler Black and Allison Wonderland making their way out]

DP : And here comes the ****y, young, Tyler Black who is trying to make a name for himself in Ring of Honor tonight at the expense of Jerry Lynn, going as far as to say that he only needed ten minutes to pin Jerry Lynn

LL : Tyler Black is coming off as a little ****y, but rightfully so Dave, we all remember the encounters in 2008, such as Escalation when Tyler Black, Austin Aries and Nigel McGuinness put on a tremendous match, plus his series of contests with “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black is the future of Ring of Honor Dave and no one could argue that

DP : Well, one person who will try to silence him is coming to the ring now, Jerry Lynn!

Tyler Black vs Jerry Lynn

Special Challenge : Ten Minute Time Limit

• From the opening bell, things did not go right, Tyler Black and Jerry Lynn did not work well together

• Tyler Black nailed God’s Last Gift three minutes into the match, but Lynn was able to escape

• At the seven minute mark, Lynn took advantage of Tyler Black dropping down for a back drop, hitting the Cradle Piledriver and picking up the win

Winner : Jerry Lynn

Match Rating : D+

DP : Jerry Lynn silencing the verbal onslaught of Tyler Black, putting him down in under ten minutes

LL : Jerry Lynn got lucky, Tyler Black nearly defeated him with God’s Last Gift very early in the match, Jerry Lynn hasn’t heard the last of Tyler Black, that’s for sure.

[Logo across the screen again and Erick Stevens & Alex Payne are in the ring, “Sugarfoot” chants, “More, More, More” hits and out comes Larry Sweeney with Franky and Apollo]

Franky & Apollo vs Erick Stevens & “Sugarfoot” Alex Payne

• Yet another exhibit of Franky & Apollo’ massive strength, Erick Stevens spent most of his time with his attention on Larry Sweeney, meanwhile Alex Payne was tossed around

• Finish came in only four minutes with Apollo coming off the top rope with a flying lariat flipping Alex Payne around, picking up the win

Winners : Franky & Apollo

Match Rating : D-

[Cut backstage to Becky Bayless standing by with Roderick Strong]

Becky : Roderick, tonight you’ve taken the open challenge to Larry Sweeney’ “Hottest Free Agent”, why did you do that?

Roderick : Well Becky, you just said it yourself, Larry Sweeney, anytime Larry Sweeney tries to get one up on Ring of Honor, I’m going to be there

Becky : Do you have any ideas who it might be that you’re facing tonight?

Roderick : I don’t have the slightest clue Becky, I was talking with it earlier tonight with Bryan Danielson, who’s going to be facing the same person tomorrow night, but we can’t seem to come up with anything, I guess we’ll just find out tonight.

[back to ringside and Rocky Romero is making his way out]

DP : Rocky Romero, making a rare appearance in Ring of Honor, he’s been spending a majority of his time down in the CMLL in Mexico and tonight he’ll be facing off with the big man, Brent Albright

LL : Rocky Romero, a former member of the Rottweilers with Homicide, Low-Ki and Ricky Reyes

DP : Don’t forget the ORIGINAL Rottweilers, Slugger, Grim Reefer, Bison and Benny Blanco

LL : I wouldn’t have forgotten them, had you not cut me off Dave, they of course were all managed by Julius Smokes, who is now managing the Vulture Squad here in Ring of Honor

Rocky Romero vs Brent Albright

• Pretty good match with these two, started off with a nice sequence of arm drags, trips, quick pin attempts, ending with Brent trying to get the crowbar early, but Romero rolled his way out of it, trying to drop a leg on the back of Albright’ head, but he rolled out of the way as well

• The match itself lasted nearly twenty minutes, both men showing respect for each other, no punches being thrown at all during this match, only a few slaps and some chops

• Finish came with Romero trying to go for a Double Underhook DDT, Albright slipped out, grabbing Romero in a wrist clutch and hitting the Exploder, flipping over right away into the Crowbar, forcing Rocky to tap out

Winner : Brent Albright

Match Rating : C

DP : Brent Albright, ready for the tag team match tomorrow night, in hopes that BJ Whitmer will actually show up at the arena

LL : I’ve known BJ Whitmer for quite some time and if there’s one thing about him that I know, when he’s called out, he’ll be there, he never backs down from a fight

[Logo across the screen and we’re treated to “Ole!” with the Tag Champions coming out, followed by Bryan Danielson]

DP : The Tag Team Champions are on their way to the ring, ready for this six man tag team match as their partner, Bryan Danielson makes his way to the ring!

[Danielson entrance takes place, then a re-mix version of “Gimme Back my Bullets” plays, Jay & Mark Briscoe and Claudio Castagnoli make their way out, as they get midway through the entrance area, El Generico comes flying off the top rope with a body press taking out all three, as they begin to get up, Kevin Steen has perched himself up top and cannonballs off taking out the Briscoes, Claudio, thinking he was too slick moved out of the way, tapping his head, Danielson nails a slide dropkick through the bottom and middle ropes, holding on to the top rope pulls himself back in, then comes leaping over onto Claudio as he turns around, the crowd pops with the action to start off the match, “ROH” chants all around]

Kevin Steen, El Generico & Bryan Danielson vs The Briscoe Brothers & Claudio Castagnoli

• Decent match, though something was missing

• Steen, Generico and Danielson were on top through a good portion of the match, leaving The Briscoes on the outside, keeping Claudio in the ring alone with the three of them most of the match

• Turning point of the match saw Danielson dominating Claudio, nailed a beautiful butterfly suplex as it nails, Jay hit a blind tag to the foot of Claudio, as Danielson gets to his feet, Jay does a springboard kick directly to the already tender sternum of Danielson

• Briscoes and Claudio take their turn working over Danielson, Danielson finally gets a hot tag to Steen who comes in and clears the ring leaving him alone with Jay Briscoe, Package Piledriver attempt, but Jay gets out of it, whips Steen around hooking the arms and takes him down in a backslide, but only gets a two count

• Finish comes a few minutes later, Danielson still on the outside being stomped repeatedly in the chest and sternum area by Claudio, in the ring Generico attempts to come to the rescue of Steen, however, Mark and Jay stop him short, Claudio slides in, double irish whip, Briscoes toss Generico up in a flapjack and Claudio nails him with a big uppercut, they grab Steen, Mark sets him up in a front facing position, Claudio comes with the Bicycle Kick to the face at the same time that Jay springboards off with a dropkick to the back of the head and Mark hits a sitout spinebuster, picking up the three count

Winners : The Briscoe Brothers & Claudio Castagnoli

Match Rating : D+

DP : An impressive debut of the Briscoes and Claudio as a team, nice triple team maneuvers being seen, definitely on page more than the Champions and American Dragon

LL : Well Dave, we’ve still yet to hear about the formation of this alliance, the reasons behind it and the severity of it, however, I, being the reporter that I am, will attempt to personally get a word with these three men

DP : And I’m sure that they’ll gladly oblige you Lenny, I mean, because you’re so respected and all

[Cut to a promo hyping the video wire and http://www.rohwrestling.com , also promoting Escalation/Rising Above DVDs that are available for sale – cut back to ringside]

[back to ringside and “AIN’T NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! HA HA HA HA HA HA!” out comes Larry Sweeney with the FIP Champion, Go Shiozaki]

LL : Larry Sweeney accompanying Go Shiozaki to the ring tonight, ready for the rematch from Death Before Dishonor VI, when Naomichi Marufuji and Go Shiozaki nearly stole the show, had it not been for the Four Way Elimination World title Match

DP : They certainly pushed each other to the limit that night Lenny and tonight we’d expect no different as we hear the music bringing Naomichi Marufuji out to the ring, look at the amount of respect shown by these fans

Naomichi Marufuji vs Go Shiozaki

• Good match, nowhere near the classic they put on at Death Before Dishonor VI, but it was really good

• Trading chops and kicks back and forth, each one getting harder than the next

• Spot of the match saw Marufuji attempt Shiranui on the ring apron, but Go knocked his foot out from underneath him and turned it into a back suplex slam to the ringside area

• Shiozaki kept the upperhand for quite awhile, hits the Go Flasher at the fifteen minute mark, picking up a VERY long three, to the point that everyone at ringside (timekeeper Giuseppe di Lorento and ROH President Cary Silkin) if they saw if it was a three count or not

• The delay and questioning allowed Marufuji to regain his composure

• Marufuji takes advantage, getting a near fall with a roll-up on Shiozaki, Marufuji takes over nailing hard chops and kicks to the chest and back of Go, irish whip to the buckles reversed and Go follows in hard, catches a boot to the face, Marufuji sets him up in the tree of woe and goes to the other side, getting himself ready for the coast to coast dropkick, as he gets ready to springboard, Larry Sweeney grabs his foot, Marufuji kicks him back and springboards off the middle rope and comes with an asai moonsault, Sweeney however scurries, Marufuji lands on his feet, pops back up on the apron and springboards across the ring hitting the dropkick

• Marufuji follows up nailing Shiozaki with Shiranui, picking up the win a second time

Winner : Naomichi Marufuji

Match Rating : C-

DP : And Naomichi Marufuji pulls off the win again, it looked for a little while there as though Go Shiozaki might have pulled off the win

LL : And going in to tomorrow night with the FIP title on the line against Roderick Strong, Go Shiozaki has a little bit more to prove

[More hype, this time for All Star Extravaganza IV & Final Battle 2008, both of which are now available on http://www.rohwrestling.com - a video begins to air highlighting the battle between Austin Aries & The Age of the Fall, with the final shots being shown from the “I Quit” Match at Rising Above in Chicago, Illinois, back to ringside where the screams are being heard, we’re treated to Joey Matthews coming to the ring with Allison Wonderland and Brodie Lee]

DP : And we’re about to see what could be a preview of tomorrow night as Austin Aries will battle Jimmy Jacobs “One Last Time”

LL : Jimmy Jacobs, who EVERYONE in Ring of Honor is tired of hearing his whines and complains has requested this final match with Austin Aries in an effort to finally silence the most outspoken critic of The Ring of the Fall

DP : I think you meant the Age of the Fall, Lenny

LL : Indeed I did, but we all know that Ring of Honor footage won’t make it into those Botchamania videos, so it really doesn’t matter what we mess up on

[“Personal Jesus” begins playing and Aries comes flying out, sliding into the ring and immediately going after Joey Matthews, ducking under a big boot from Brodie Lee and disposing of him from the ring with a big clothesline over the top rope]

Austin Aries vs Joey Matthews

• Excellent match to set up the main event for tonight

• Aries battered Matthews around the ring, Matthews got his own bit of offense in

• An interesting spot of the match found Joey Matthews channeling Jimmy Jacobs and jumping up on Aries out of nowhere with the End Time, quickly spinning himself around into a floatover DDT, picking up a two and a half count

• Aries regained control of the match after slipping out of the Virginia Necktie and working it into a falling neckbreaker

• Austin Aries spot follows with the Pendulum Elbowdrop, nips up from that and hits a Heat seeking Missile to the outside taking out Brodie Lee again, Aries back into the ring, picking Matthews up, Matthews gets a rake to the eyes in, irish whip to the corner is reversed and Aries follows in with the dropkick, follows up with the brainbuster, holding on and starts jamming the knees into the top of the head before flipping over into the Last Chancery, which forces Joey Matthews to tap out

Winner : Austin Aries

Match Rating : C+

DP : Austin Aries proving to be unstoppable tonight, but will he be this lucky tomorrow night when he faces Jimmy Jacobs?

LL : He certainly seems to be intent on ending the career of Jimmy Jacobs and finally putting an end to the Age of the Fall, however, I’m not sure his momentum tonight will carry over, Jimmy Jacobs has been gone for awhile, aside from his brief interference during Final Battle weekend, I’m sure he’s got something in store for Austin Aries

[ROH logo across the ring and we’re treated to “For a few seconds, this place was Armageddon… AND THERE WAS A FIRE FIGHT!!!!” and Roderick Strong enters to a huge ovation from the ROH crowd]

DP : This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for Lenny Leonard, Larry Sweeney has promised to bring the “Hottest Free Agent” to Ring of Honor and in issuing an open challenge, will be across the ring from someone whom Larry Sweeney is very familiar with, Roderick Strong

LL : And Roderick Strong, by a fluke was able to get Larry Sweeney alone in the ring and deliver one of those chops that he throws and is out for blood when it comes to Larry Sweeney, though he should be careful, wherever Larry Sweeney goes, Sweet and Sour Incorporated is not very far behind

[“AIN’T NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! HA HA HA HA HA HA!” and out comes Larry Sweeney beaming from ear to ear, laughing into his cell phone, struts down the aisle to the chorus of boos, he gets to the ringside area and tells Todd Sinclair to remove Roderick Strong from the ring so that he can have the spotlight, Sinclair and Strong argue until Strong finally agrees to leave the ring, Sweeney gets into the ring, taking the mic from the ring announcer]

Sweeney : The moment of truth is here! “Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney made a promise to you Ring of Honor fans and he plans to stay true to his promise, I promised that I would bring the “Hottest Free Agent” to Ring of Honor and right about now, it’s time for you all to see him, [points to the back] BRING ‘EM OUT BOYS!

[“More More More” hits again and out come Chris Hero, Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Tank Toland, Bobby Dempsey, Sara Del Rey, Franky Tha Mobster, Apollo Kahn, Go Shiozaki, they all seem to be carrying something, there is a huge sheet covering whoever they are carrying, they get to the ringside area where they put whatever it was that they were carrying down, all acting as though they are out of breath and exhausted, Larry Sweeney cackles again]

Sweeney : Larry Sweeney always delivers, Sara! Sara! Grab that sheet and show these Ring of Honor fans who the HOTTEST FREE AGENT is!

[sara Del Rey looks a bit concerned, then slowly starts to lift the sheet, then quickly removes it and the fans burst into a chorus of boos as they see a life-size cardboard cut out of Manny Ramirez, his Dodgers uniform has been painted over to look like the Larry Sweeney T-shirt, with the back saying “HOTTEST FREE AGENT” instead of Ramirez – All of Sweet & Sour, Inc are laughing hysterically, Larry Sweeney cackling into the mic like a hyena]

DP : What?! Manny Ramirez?!

LL : He is the hottest free agent in sports today, with a price tag so high that only one of three teams could afford him, but has a bat that everybody would want in their line-up!

Sweeney : The Hottest Free Agent in all of sports, MANNY RAMIREZ! HA HA HA HA HA! HA HA HA HA! Hey Roderick! You really wanna have a fight with a cardboard cut out?! HA HA HA HA!

[Roderick slides into the ring and starts toward Sweeney, until all of Sweet & Sour, Inc hit the ring and make a wall between Roderick & Sweeney, just as Bobby Dempsey gets shoved at Roderick Strong, the arena goes pitch black and some ominous type music begins to play, breaking into “Whiskey in the Jar” by Metallica, then a figure comes flying down the ramp and slides into the ring, the lights come back up]

DP : CHRISTIAN CAGE! CHRISTIAN CAGE IS BACK IN RING OF HONOR!

[The ROH crowd erupts as Christian and Roderick start laying out all of Sweet & Sour, Inc one after another, Dempsey over the top rope, Toland over the top rope, Shiozaki backdropped over on top of them, Sara Del Rey thrown through the ropes, Eddie Edwards, Franky The Mobster & Apollo Kahn attempt to take out Roderick while Davey & Hero go after Christian, Roderick ducks under a double clothesline attempt taking out Edwards with a leg lariat, jumping right back up and hitting a jumping double kick to the face of Franky & Apollo, Christian blocks a big shot from Davey, hits a fast headbutt just as Chris Hero is coming at him with a Roaring Elbow, Christian pulls Davey in the way and he takes the shot, Christian with a boot to Hero’ midsection, goes for the Unprettier but Hero shoves him into the ropes and quickly retreats from the ring with the rest of Sweet & Sour, Inc.. Sweeney is trying to hold everyone back, trading shouts with Roderick & Christian, the ROH crowd continue to cheer, then start in with a “Welcome Back” chant for Christian Cage]

LL : He has no right being here tonight! Christian Cage was New York bound!

DP : And it looks as though he took a little vacation to Florida, Lenny! Christian Cage made a small stop in Ring of Honor after he left the WWE his first time through, Ring of Honor going as far as to name an event for him, he made quite an impression on the Ring of Honor fans, who wanted to see him again and tonight, they’re getting just that!

[Christian takes in the chants for a moment, then takes the mic from the ring announcer]

Christian : Larry Sweeney, you made a promise under false pretenses, you see, I wasn’t going to make a stop in Ring of Honor until the Seventh Year Celebration, but when I saw someone else taking credit for something that I was behind, I knew that I just couldn’t let my peeps down! [cheers from the crowd] I made a small stop in Ring of Honor before and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t one of the best weekends of my career and one that I keep very dear to my heart, but I didn’t just come here tonight to burst your little bubble Larry Sweeney, I did come here to wrestle a match in front of the greatest wrestling fans in the world, so Roderick Strong, if you’re not too busy going one on one with a cardboard cut out, maybe you and I can give the fans something special to remember

[Fans start cheering, chanting “ROH!” Roderick nods his head, Referee Todd Sinclair is back in the ring]

DP : We’re still going to have it! Larry Sweeney attempted to spoil the events of tonight and Christian Cage said “No Chance in Hell”, if I may be so bold

LL : [silence] You’re becoming a hack Dave

[Roderick and Christian get the pat down from Sinclair as the crowd is splitting in their chants, half chanting “LET’S GO ROD’RICK” the other half “CHRIS-TIAN CAGE”, Christian and Roderick both acknowledge the chants, Code of Honor is followed and Todd Sinclair calls for the bell and we’re under way]

Roderick Strong vs “The Hottest Free Agent” Christian Cage

• MATCH OF THE NIGHT, Ring of Honor comes through again with a tremendous Main Event

• Christian and Roderick locked up in the center of the ring, Christian quickly rolls Roderick with an arm drag, Roderick pops right back up, sandbags on another arm drag attempt, back waist lock on Christian, Christian tries to work his way out of it, but Roderick keeps returning to the rear waist lock, Christian tries an elbow, but Roderick moves his head out of the way, roll through from Christian, Roderick holds on, gets into position and Christian tries to sit out on the hold, finally breaking the lock on Roderick, crowd claps

• Another tie up attempt, but Roderick fakes and slips behind Christian, as soon as he does a quick elbow shot to the temple, Christian takes off for the ropes, ducks down as Roderick leap frogs, off the other side, Roderick for a hip toss, but Christian stops it, shot to the gut, hip toss attempt of his own, but Roderick stops it as well, shot to the gut from Roderick, but as he tries to turn it into another hip toss, Christian quickly wraps his arm around and almost hits the Unprettier, but Roderick slides out of it, applause again, Christian lets Roderick know that he almost had him

• Match went on, both men trading the momentum back and forth, about seventeen minutes in, Roderick caught Christian with a Gibson Driver, unable to get the three count, quickly turns it over into a single leg crab

• Christian eventually regained the advantage, stopping nearly all of Roderick’ attempts at a backbreaker of any kind, Christian shot Roderick into the ropes, duck down and Roderick kicks him in the chest, Christian runs against the ropes and Roderick catches Christian with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, picking up another near fall

• These two went a total of forty-three minutes, keeping the crowd in the entire time

• Finish sequence saw Roderick catches Christian off guard with four massive chops, quickly flips him up on his shoulders, big Gut Buster, Roderick pops up, hits the ropes, running kick to the face, Roderick back up and thumb across the throat signifying the end, Roderick picks Christian up off of the mat, Christian with a quick rake of the face, hits the ropes, on the rebound Roderick catches Christian with a side slam into a backbreaker! Roderick back up, calls for the finish again, grabs Christian off of the mat again, positions him and lifts him up for the powerbomb backbreaker, Christian begins to fall though, Roderick puts him down, then picks him up again with enough force that Christian slips out from the back, Christian grabs his arms, turns him around Unprettier! Todd Sinclair in position, one…two…. Three!!!

Winner : “The Hottest Free Agent” Christian Cage

Match Rating : B-

[The crowd explodes chants of “ROH” deafening]

DP : Christian Cage has done it! He and Roderick just had a fantastic match!

LL : And we can only hope that this weekend is the only time that we’ll see Christian Cage before he heads up north and ruins his career yet again

DP : You’re the only one that hopes that, I for one hope that we’ll be seeing Christian Cage for a very long time

[Roderick is back to his feet, he and Christian stare across the ring at each other, they meet center ring and shake hands, Roderick raises Christian’ hand and vice versa, the ROH crowd is eating it up chanting “ROH! ROH! ROH! ROH!” as we fade out]

Overall Show Rating : C+

Great show! Amazing ending!!!!!

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it... I'll be the first to admit that the main event was a little more Sports Entertainment oriented, but I think it served its purpose well to debut Christian

Proving Ground 2009

Night 2

[Fade in from the ROH logo and chants, we find Jimmy Jacobs standing in a dark room somewhere in the arena, Tyler Black behind him, Allison Wonderland to his right, Joey Matthews and Brodie Lee to his left, a mannequin bust and head in front of him wearing Delirious’ black mask, Jimmy looks around]

Jacobs : Failure, when I look around this room, that’s all that I see, Joey Matthews, Brodie Lee, last night, you failed me in your attempt to slow down Austin Aries, Joey, you allowed your own ego to control you last night, instead of the mission of The Age of the Fall, make no mistakes about it, you will be punished… Delirious, he has failed me and in turn, you Allison, have failed me, when I took my sabbatical, I left you in charge of Delirious and told you under no uncertain terms was he to leave your sight.. What do I come back to? Delirious running around playing with the very people who turned their backs on him, you as well, will be punished [Jimmy turns around and stares directly at the chest of Tyler Black, lowers his head and shakes it] Tyler, you have failed me the most, when I left, I told you that I wanted you to continue to reach out the word of the Age of the Fall, you were to continue on the same path that we were heading down, instead, you listen to these fans, you listen to the dirt sheet writers, the ones who say “Tyler Black is the next big thing” and then, you can’t even get the job done with a broken down old man like Jerry Lynn [Jimmy looks at Tyler who smirks, lifts his fingers as to say “I was that close”, Jimmy looks at his fingers, nods his head and then slaps the taste out of Tyler Black’ mouth] FAILURE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO MAKE A MOCKERY OUT OF THE AGE OF THE FALL… OUT OF THE MESSAGE! [turns back to the camera] AUSTIN ARIES! RING OF HONOR! YOU WILL ALL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR INADEQUCIES! YOU WILL ALL PAY DEARLY!!!

[Jacobs slams his cane against the wall and walks off shouting, cut directly from there to Roderick Strong, Brent Albright and Christian Cage, their conversation seems to be interrupted]

Roderick : That was a great match last night Christian and once again, thank you for helping me with Sweet & Sour, Incorporated, it’s been crazy, but I think that if you were to come help Brent and I, we might finally be able to get them out of Ring of Honor

[brent slaps his hands together and nods his head sayin “Oh yeah, oh yeah”]

Christian : Roderick, while I appreciate the offer that you’ve extended, I regretfully have to decline the offer, I’ll admit, I didn’t come to Ring of Honor just to pop in for a quickie, catch a pay day and then go get myself lost in the shuffle up north, when the Hottest Free Agent bit started and I heard Larry Sweeney run his mouth about being responsible for it and issuing a bogus open challenge, I started to salivate a little bit when I saw that the two names who were going to be accepting the challenge were Roderick Strong and Bryan Danielson, two of the men that I respect the most in Ring of Honor, I knew that I’d get some great competition with the two of you, but my main reason for coming to Ring of Honor is because I want what every man wants, I want the most prestigious honor of being called the Ring of Honor World Champion, you see, any man can be handed a championship by their father in law, or whoever liked their rap the most, but the true definition of a champion is someone who can go out to the ring and stand across from some of the best wrestlers in the world and still walk away with self respect even if he loses [Christian chuckles] and for the past 24 plus months, I’ve heard Nigel McGuinness talk about how there’s no one that can beat him, as soon as I was off of paper not too far from where we’re at now, I knew that I had to grab ahold of this opportunity, Nigel, you should watch what I do tonight, because after I’m done with Bryan Danielson and I shake his hand in the middle of the ring win, lose or draw, I’m coming after you and the Ring of Honor World title!

[Christian shakes hands with Roderick and Albright as they continue their talk, cut to ringside]

DP : Dave Prazak here and we welcome you to the second night of Proving Ground 2009 here in Orlando, Florida by my side as always is Lenny Leonard and Lenny, tonight the stars of Ring of Honor have a lot to prove to this Orlando crowd

LL : Indeed they do Dave and if there’s anyone who has the most to prove, it’s Christian Cage, who last night made a surprise return to Ring of Honor as the “Hottest Free Agent” and tonight, he faces off with “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson

DP : That should be a great match, we’ve also got a few titles on the line, the ROH World Tag Team titles will be on the line when Steen & Generico face off with Salvatore & Vito Thomaselli, The Iron Saints

LL : We could see new tag team champions, Dave, we’ll also see the FIP Title defended when the reigning champion, Go Shiozaki faces off with the former two time champion, Roderick Strong in what promises to be a hard hitting battle

DP : The SHIMMER title will also be up for grabs as MsChif, who is quickly proving herself to be a very fighting champion will go one on one with Lufisto, but now we’re heading to the ring as we have Brent Albright coming out for a special tag team challenge match

[Albright is heading the ring, playing up with the fans, goes around the ring and rolls into the ring, takes the mic from the ring announcer]

Brent : No matter how much I argued and argued with Cary, he still wouldn’t let me have what I wanted, so if the only way I can get BJ Whitmer in this ring right now is with a tag team partner, then so be it, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise, he was my partner with Roderick at Rising Above, “Crazy” Ace Steel, get out here!

[Ace Steel’ music hits and he comes out to a good ovation, getting into the ring and high fiving Albright who is looking past Steel and staring at the entrance area when BJ Whitmer’ music hits, Whitmer comes out, dressed just as he was with the Hangmen Three, gets to the ringside area and walks over to Cary Silkin screaming at him, the camera picks up as he says “F**K A PARTNER! I WANT HIM SOLO!” Silkin motions towards the ring announcer, who informs the crowd that since Brent Albright & BJ Whitmer want a singles match, he will allow them to have a singles match, however, they MUST follow the Code of Honor for the match]

DP : Are you serious?! After what BJ Whitmer did to Brent Albright and Adam Pearce?! The Code of Honor MUST be followed?!

LL : If they want a singles match bad enough, they’ll have to follow the Code of Honor tonight

[Whitmer and Albright glare at each other across the ring, Todd Sinclair brings them center ring, does his pat down and tells the two of them to shake hands, both men get a look of disgust on their faces and barely shake hands, Sinclair calls for the bell]

Brent Albright vs BJ Whitmer

Code of Honor must be followed

• Good match to open the show with, Albright having a slight advantage with his strength, Whitmer however, uses his quickness and his strength to out wit Albright on a few occasions

• There was a moment that Albright had BJ in the corner delivering numerous chops and slaps and punches, Todd Sinclair got in the middle of them to break it up, Albright nearly hit him before stopping himself, only to be caught with a thumb to the eye from BJ Whitmer

• Finish came at the thirteen minute mark, Whitmer attempting to go for a wrist clutch exploder, unable to get Albright up, Albright quickly rolls him up with a small package, getting the win out of nowhere

Winner : Brent Albright

Match Rating : C-

DP : Brent Albright, with a small measure of revenge against BJ Whitmer, taking advantage of Whitmer’ inability to lift him for that exploder and picking up the win here tonight

LL : And as the Code of Honor states, a handshake must be completed before and after the match, Brent Albright is up from the pinfall and grabs the hand of BJ Whitmer, shaking It himself and leaving the ring

DP : They did follow the Code of Honor Lenny, which is all that was expected from Cary Silkin

[ROH logo across the screen and Lufisto is on her way to the ring, MsChif makes her entrance first, still with the music of The Age of the Fall, however, not accompanied by any members of the Age of the Fall]

MsChif vs Lufisto

SHIMMER Championship

• Good match for what it was, didn’t last all that long, however, it served its purpose

• Hard hitting action, Lufisto tried to lock in Lufisto’s Law, a rear naked choke, however, with her amazing flexibility, MsChif worked her way nearly in half to an almost standing position and cartwheeled over getting out of the hold, which got probably the biggest reaction from the crowd for the match

• Finish came about ten minutes in, Lufisto was catching MsChif with a tilt-a-whirl slam, MsChif however used the momentum to whip herself around Lufisto and hit a modified Code Green and picked up the win

Winner and STILL SHIMMER Champion : MsChif

Match Rating : C

DP : MsChif once again retains the SHIMMER title here in Ring of Honor, with an impressive win over Lufisto, who many were claiming to be the number one contender to the SHIMMER title

LL : And we’ll see just how well she can fare when Ring of Honor officials start to bring in some better competitors

[ROH logo across the screen and Go Shiozaki is on his way to the ring carrying the FIP title]

DP : And our second of three championship matches tonight, Go Shiozaki, the current FIP champion is going one on one with Roderick Strong, who is a two time former FIP champion

LL : And Go Shiozaki has been on a bit of a roll lately with that FIP title, holding off such challengers as Tyler Black and Erick Stevens, however, I don’t remember Roderick Strong having a shot for that title yet

[Roderick Strong entrance takes place]

DP : And Roderick Strong and Brent Albright, who we saw earlier tonight defeat BJ Whitmer have been lobbying ROH officials consistently trying to get Steel Cage Warfare against Sweet & Sour, Incorporated

LL : And they can try all they want, Cary Silkin has been a man of his word for as long as I have known him, Roderick Strong & Brent Albright lost their shot at Steel Cage Warfare during Rising Above by losing their match, it looks like Steel Cage Warfare is off the table for another year

Go Shiozaki vs Roderick Strong

FIP Championship

• Good match with these guys, obviously tensions were a bit high during this match, it may have drug down what the match would have been had they not been on opposite sides of a bitter war

• Roderick’ chops were doing nothing to Shiozaki at the start of the match, with Shiozaki firing back with hard kicks and a really stiff kick to the side of the head early on trying to set up for the Go Flasher early, but Roderick was able to slip out, saving a loss in the opening moments of the match

• Ring Apron spot saw Roderick and Go fighting out on the ring apron Go trying a backsuplex off of the ring apron, but Roderick had his arms and legs wrapped around the ropes keeping himself from going anywhere, Shiozaki with a headbutt to the back of the head, Roderick lets go of the ropes, Go tries to position himself, Roderick quickly whips himself around, hooks Shiozaki and lifts him up in a suplex position, hits the ropes with his feet and drops him to the outside with a slingshot suplex into a powerslam on the outside – the crowd to their feet chanting “ROH!”

• Match went on with the two trading advantage back and forth leading up to the finish sequence which saw Go and Roderick hit opposite sides of the ropes, Go with a running big boot, Roderick with the sick kick, they both nail them, both laid out, Roderick up first, leaning up in the corner, Shiozaki slowly to his feet, as he turns around Roderick with a kick to the gut, hooks him up and drops him with the Power-Breaker, holds onto the legs and bridges over, picking up the win

Winner and NEW FIP Champion : Roderick Strong

Match Rating : C

[Roderick rolls off, the crowd comes alive, Roderick slowly up to his feet holding three fingers up]

DP : Roderick Strong has done it! The new three-time FIP Champion and Lenny Leonard, it happened here, in Ring of Honor at Proving Ground 2009

LL : Roderick Strong sets himself atop the Full Impact Pro roster again, I would be surprised if more members of Sweet & Sour Incorporated didn’t show up in FIP to try to unseat Roderick Strong in his third title reign

[Roderick celebrates with the FIP title, cut backstage to Becky Bayless standing by with Jerry Lynn]

Becky : Jerry Lynn, tonight you’ve got a non-title match with Nigel McGuinness, are you upset that the title is not on the line?

Jerry : Becky, I really don’t care either way, Proving Ground is an appropriate name for this weekend, if Nigel McGuinness wants me to prove myself to him, then I have no problem with that, after I beat him tonight, I WILL have a shot at the title on the next Ring of Honor weekend, I promi-

[a figure walks in front of the camera past Becky and Jerry, Becky jumps a little bit and watches in disbelief]

Jerry : Is that who I think it is?

Becky : If it is, he’s lost a ton of weight… And I think that he just grabbed my a$$

[Jerry and Becky shrug and look in the same direction again with confusion on their faces – cut back to ringside and the screams begin]

DP : And here comes Jimmy Jacobs, followed by Allison Wonderland and I’m not sure Lenny, what in the world are they carrying?

LL : Dave, it appears that crawling behind them are Joey Matthews and Brodie Lee, Allison Wonderland is carrying a mannequin’ bust and head with the black mask of Delirious on it, Joey Matthews and Brodie Lee as well are wearing a Delirious mask, I’m honestly not sure what this is about

DP : Well, Delirious was with the Age of the Fall after the heartbreak he suffered at the hands of Daizee Haze, however, after Jimmy Jacobs’ disappearance from Ring of Honor, we’ve been seeing the Delirious of old poking back through and I can only assume that Jimmy Jacobs is none too happy about it

[“REACH OUT AND TOUCH FAITH” – the crowd goes nuts, Austin Aries comes flying out, Brodie Lee again tries to stop him as he comes running down the aisle, but he ducks under the big boot attempt, nailing a clothesline on Joey Matthews in the process, only the be hit from behind by a fan in the front row wearing a Delirious mask, Brodie Lee hits the big boot this time, knocking Aries into the crowd as Jimmy Jacobs is in the ring directing traffic, Brodie dumps Aries back over the steel barricades and rolls him into the ring for this match to get started]

Jimmy Jacobs vs Austin Aries

“ONE LAST TIME”

• Excellent match to come back from intermission with, the fans in attendance expected to see something to get them back into the show after their break and they sure in the hell got it

• No fancy gimmick match, this was just a pure brawl, however, after numerous interference attempts by Brodie Lee and Joey Matthews, referee Paul Turner made the remaining members of the Age of the Fall leave the ringside area

• This was your normal Austin Aries vs Jimmy Jacobs match, they battered each other, Austin hit his signature spots which the crowd ate up

• One of the best spots of the match had Jimmy Jacobs going for the Contra Code, but as he got to the top rope, Aries used his launching to launch him out of the ring, taking out the Mannequin with the Delirious mask on, as soon as Jimmy got up, Austin came flying out with the Heat Seeking Missile, right in front of the fan who hit him earlier, as he gets up, he takes a swing at the fan too, who dodges the shot

• Match lasted nearly twenty minutes, Aries setting up for the Pendulum Elbow Drop, as he starts the arm swinging Jimmy Jacobs moves out of the way, Austin grabs him by the back of the head, Jacobs rakes the eyes and jumps up directly into the End Time, he’s got his legs locked around Aries’ waist, he keeps cinching the hold in, but Aries refuses to go down, just as it looks like he’s about to go down, the fan with the Delirious mask jumps the guardrail and hits the ring grabbing Jimmy Jacobs and nailing an interesting looking combination that hits Jacobs with a DDT, also taking out Aries with a modified Russian Leg Sweep

• Aries starts to get to his feet as the fan is still standing in the ring arguing with Paul Turner, Aries shoves the fan who kicks Aries in the gut, hitting another DDT, he rolls Jacobs over on top of Aries, Paul Turner arguing with him, but as he pulls Jimmy’ spike out of the back of his pants, Turner drops down, gets a two count and Aries kicks out after the long two

• The fan starts to go after Aries with the spike, but Jacobs gets to his feet and whips the fan around, Jacobs takes a spike shot to the head, busting him wide open, the fan shrugs, then nails Jacobs with another DDT and rolls out of the ring as Aries climbs up top and hits the 450 splash and gets the win

Winner : Austin Aries

Match Rating : B-

DP : Austin Aries puts Jimmy Jacobs away again one last time, but what is going on with this fan? He has Jimmy Jacobs’ spike, why don’t we have security out here removing this fan?

[The fan grabs the mic from the ring announcer as he is making the announcement that Austin Aries has won the match]

Fan : The LOSER of the match and a complete failure and complete disgrace to the Age of the Fall, Jimmy Jacobs! [Walking around the ring, watching Austin as he leaves up the entrance way walking backwards] Earlier tonight, sitting in the shadows, I heard you screaming at everyone that FAILURE would not be tolerated by the Age of the Fall, Jimmy Jacobs, you’re the biggest failure of them all, you bring shame to the name of the Age of the Fall, you bring shame to the IDEA of what I spent so much time building [grabs Jacobs by the hair and pulls him to his knees] You’ve failed me for the last time Jimmy, from now on, we do things my way, we play things by MY rules…. [Removes the Delirious mask and the fans pop] We play by RAVEN’S RULES [Pulls Jimmy back to his feet and nails another DDT]

DP : RAVEN! RAVEN IS BACK IN RING OF HONOR!

LL : Wait a second! You mean to tell me that Raven has been the driving force behind the Age of the Fall this entire time?!

DP : Well, it makes sense when you think about it Lenny

[ROH logo across the screen as Raven is staring at the Delirious mask and walking back to the back and we’ve got The Iron Saints in the ring with “Ole!” starts up]

DP : It’s time for the World Tag Team Championship match and the tag team champions are on their way to the ring

LL : Salvatore and Vito Thomaselli, a very accomplished tag team on the independent scene, holding such titles as the IWA Mid South Tag Team titles and have competed in some brutal contests in their time, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the titles change hands tonight Dave

DP : Kevin Steen & El Generico are no slouches when it comes to their in-ring ability, I think we’re in for a good contest tonight

Kevin Steen & El Generico vs The Iron Saints

ROH World Tag Team Titles

• Code of Honor is followed to start the match

• Salvatore and Generico start out, normal opening sequence of feeling each other out

• The match lasted about 13 minutes or so, both teams showing great tag team work and they all worked very well together

• Finish sequence came as kind of a surprise, Steen & Generico double teamed and threw Vito from the ring, as Sal came flying in the ring, he got met with a running Yakuza kick to the side of the face from Generico, Steen waited on him to get up, boot, set him up for the Package Piledriver, on the roll through, Salvatore nailed Generico with a hard lariat knocking him out of the ring, turned around and nailed Steen with a hard superkick to the face knocking him out of the ring, he quickly hooks Generico up by the legs, grabbing his hands and hanging Generico out while Vito climbed to the top and came jumping off with a double stomp to the head, Sal quickly rolls him over and goes for the pin, one…..two… and just as the three is about to come down, two more people interfere in a match, a big white man, a good sized black man, IT’S TEAM 3D! the crowd is going nuts as they pull Sal off of Generico and start laying in the shots, irish whip in, D-Von catches him, Ray is coming and 3D! Vito comes to the rescue, swings at Ray, REVERSE 3D! Kevin Steen in the ring, goes after both of them, double clothesline takes him down, Ray grabs him off the mat, irish whip in, and a 3D for Kevin Steen! They stand in the middle of the destruction, Ray shoves D-Von and tells him to get the table, D-Von does as he’s told, Ray sits up on the top rope D-Von grabs Generico off of the mat and hands him up to Ray and he comes off with the Ray Bomb through the table, having that crazed look in his eyes, the fans are booing now, littering the ring with garbage, Todd Sinclair obviously nowhere to be found

Official Ruling : No Contest due to Team 3D interference

Match Rating : C-

DP : WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON?! Christian Cage last night and tonight we’ve got Raven and Team 3D? This is getting out of hand!

LL : I hate to admit it, but I agree with you….

[Ray & D-Von grab the ROH Tag Team Titles from ringside, looking at them, then drop them in the middle of the destruction and leave the ring to the boos and the trash littering the ring, ROH logo across the screen and Davey Richards and Chris Hero are making their way out to the ring with Larry Sweeney behind them]

DP : It’s time for Four Corner Survival and we found out that the winner of this match will be facing Nigel McGuinness for the ROH Title on our second broadcast when Ring of Honor debuts on Sun Sports at the beginning of March!

LL : And we’re supposed to have a big announcement tonight still regarding Ring of Honor, maybe Daddy Warbucks bought us out with all of this crap that’s been happening last night and tonight!

DP : Easy Lenny

Davey Richards vs Chris Hero vs Juventud Guerrera vs Delirious

Winner receives World Title shot, March Week 2, 2009 on TV

• Pretty good match, Juvy and Delirious had fun with each other to start the match, Delirious “Ba”ing at Juvy’ every move

• Davey and Hero teamed up on Delirious a few times, dominating Juvy as well

• One point of the match found Juventud getting nailed with the Roaring Elbow from Hero, knocking him out of the ring, leaving Davey, Delirious & Hero standing off

• Delirious rolls under Davey Richards as he comes at him, slides through Hero’ legs and quickly to his feet, dropkick to the back of Hero, sending him into Davey Richards, Delirious runs off his jibberish pointing back and forth between Hero & Richards

• Hero and Richards start to face off, but Richards quickly attacks Delirious, Sweet & Sour, Inc team up on Delirious

• Delirious tries to fight them off, however, Richards cuts off every comeback attempt, irish whip into the ropes while Hero loads up his elbow pad and nails a roaring elbow to the side of the head of Delirious, Delirious crumbles to the mat and Richards bends over to pick him up, Hero quickly rolls up Richards with a handful of tights gets a two count and Richards pops up, Hero begging off immediately, scooting to the corner, the crowd “oohs” and starts chanting “DAVEY!” Richards starts screaming at Hero

• Richards goes after Hero, who quickly jumps out of the ring, Richards follows screaming at Hero, Hero takes off running, Hero slides into the ring, Richards starts to slide in, but then quickly slides out causing Hero to hit the mat with his knee drop attempt, Richards slides in and starts unloading chops and slaps to Hero, the crowd getting louder with each slap, Richards drops him in the corner, takes off from mid-ring and nails a hard clothesline in the corner to Hero, Juventud is back on the ring apron, springboards off the top rope and nails Richards with a big dropkick, Delirious is back to his feet and spots Hero in the corner and comes flying in with a Panic Attack, Delirious quickly up top and comes flying off with SHADOWS OVER HE- NO! Juventud meets him in the air with a big dropkick to the chest, knocking Delirious back into the corner, Juventud up and Chris Hero nails him with a hard boot to the face that sends him into the ropes, as he comes back Hero hooks him up and nails the Hero’s Welcome, he stands up being ****y, Davey Richards is waiting and nails a HARD release German Suplex, Richards quickly covers Juventud and picks up the one…two…three

Winner : Davey Richards

Match Rating : C+

DP : Davey Richards! Davey Richards will get a shot at Nigel McGuinness on the second edition of Ring of Honor Television! Davey Richards will face off for the ROH World title!

LL : And one has to wonder just how unhappy Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney will be after what has happened here tonight.

[ROH logo across the screen as Chris Hero is watching Davey Richards leave, ROH President Cary Silkin coming into the ring, takes the mic from the ring announcer]

Cary Silkin : I don’t normally do these kind of things, because, frankly, my last name is not McMahon or Jarrett, you fans get to see me as I watch from ringside right there next to our time keeper and ring announcer, though, a promise was made that a major announcement would be made this weekend and the major announcement is this, Ring of Honor is run by a very superstitious group of people, that’s why this year, “Lucky Number Seven” our Seventh Year Celebration will be a special one, personalities from the past and present of Ring of Honor are gearing up to give you, the Ring of Honor fans an appropriate Anniversary celebration, this year, we promise to give you some of the greatest rivalries re-visited and I guarantee that when we are finished, the world will see just what they’re missing out on.. So, fans, I thank you and hope that you enjoy the rest of the show!

[The crowd cheers, then starts chants of “ROH!” and fading into “THANK YOU CARY!”… cut backstage as Cary leaves the ring, Becky Bayless is standing by]

Becky : I’m Becky Bayless and I’m backstage right now, and

[Ray & Devon burst into the frame, pushing Becky out of the way]

Becky : I’m being joined by… well… what CAN we call you?

[Ray snatches the mic from Becky]

Ray : The only thing that you can call me “rat” is DADDY, and you can call my partner BIG DADDY [glares at her for a second] and before you even open your mouth, I already know what stupid questions are going to come spewing out “Why are you guys here?” “What’s the deal?” Well I’ll tell you what the deal is, not only did we get fired after busting our a**es for as long as we have for that stupid company, but, we just capitalized on a HUGE mistake by one Vincent “STUPID IDEA” Kennedy McMahon, because he let a copyright run out, a product that he once owned the right to now belongs to it’s rightful owners [Ray pulls a piece of paper out and holds it up to the camera] Mark LoMonaco and Devon Hughes now own the rights to the name Buh Buh Ray and D-Von, once again, we CAN be called “The Dudley Boys” and why are we here? I think everyone knows why we’re here, we’re here for the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Titles, but, even after our impressive debut earlier tonight, Ring of Honor management are telling us that we have to “prove” ourselves [glares at D-Von] the most decorated tag team in the history of this business and we have to PROVE ourselves to some two-bit promotion that only got their notoriety when trying to capitalize on the fame that ECW built in the Arena? Fine, we’ll prove ourselves, plain and simply, we want ALL of the tag teams, line ‘em up, because Ring of Honor will soon find out why you don’t F*** with the Dudley Boys…

[Cut back to ringside with “The Final Countdown” playing]

DP : “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson is on his way to the ring and he’s coming out to answer the challenge of the “Hottest Free Agent” Christian Cage

LL : And last night, I hate to admit, he and Roderick Strong put on what some might consider one of the best single matches of Christian Cage’ career.

DP : They definitely pushed each other to the limit last night and Christian Cage came out on top after hitting The Unprettier on Roderick Strong after he was attempting the Power-Breaker

[Danielson gets to the ring after his trip around, bouncing back and forth, listening to the “Best in the World” chants from the crowd, “Whiskey in the Jar” starts up and they cheer again as the lights go down and Christian Cage makes his entrance]

DP : Christian Cage certainly looking determined tonight, watching the ring as he makes his way around, greeting the fans

LL : These fans will be in for a surprise when he’s not around anymore after this weekend, it’s almost time for the “Grand Daddy of them all” for World Wrestling Entertainment, I’m sure that he’ll be making his return there at that time

[Christian Cage in the ring, taking off his ring jacket as is Bryan Danielson, the ring announcer is handling the introductions, to which the fans are on their feet, crowd being hot all the way through, big chants for both men, Danielson and Cage meet in the middle of the ring and the arena is split in chants again “LET’S GO DRAGON” and “CHRIS-TIAN CA-GE” they do a little jawing back and forth, very fast handshake and they start circling]

“American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs “Hottest Free Agent” Christian Cage

• FANTASTIC MATCH! Easily the match of the night, possibly the match of the weekend.

• We’re going to break this one down by time frame

• 0 min – 10 min : Dragon and Cage spend a few minutes feeling each other out, test of strength ends up with Christian putting Danielson down in a bridge, as Christian tries to jump on top with his tender sternum, Danielson brings his legs up causing Christian to pull Danielson to his feet, kick away the hand from Danielson and he uses the knuckle clinch to his advantage drops down and takes Christian over in a fireman’s carry, still holding on he goes for the legdrop to the arm, but Christian brings his arm up, rolling Danielson into a pinning predicament that Danielson quickly locks his arm around and has the armbreaker on Christian, Christian quickly to the ropes to break the submission hold

• 11 – 20 min : Christian takes the upper hand as Danielson tries to nail the elbows to the side of the head by knocking the leg of Danielson out, Danielson rolls it into a crucifix pin attempt, but Christian rolls through and meets Danielson with a chop across the chest as he gets up, Christian brings Danielson to his feet hitting a European Uppercut which rocks Danielson to the corner, Christian climbs up and starts nailing shots to Danielson’ head, but Danielson quickly stops a shot, hooks Christian’ legs and attempts a running powerbomb, which Christian turns into a rana, Bryan Danielson holds onto his foot and quickly locks on an ankle lock submission, going as far as to lock his legs around Christian’ leg much like Kurt Angle, however, Christian is too close to the ropes and quickly gets the ropes to break the hold

• 21 – 30 min : Danielson rocking Christian with European Uppercuts, then quickly turns it into a slap fest and ends with a back spinning slap to the face, Danielson hits the ropes and comes flying off, but Christian catches him with a reverse atomic drop, Christian hits the ropes and hits a leg lariat to Danielson, following up with a pin attempt that Danielson kicks out of at 1 – Christian decides to have a little fun with the crowd, making the hand sign for the “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, picks Danielson up, hooks his arms under and attempts to get him up for the Angel’s Wings, but Danielson sandbags, works his way out of the hold, hits the ropes and he and Christian take each other down with a double clothesline

• 31 – 40 min : Christian answers the 10 count of Paul Turner first, getting to his feet at 7, he waits, Danielson slowly makes his way to his feet, Christian comes at him, Danielson side steps, Christian into the ropes, Danielson tries a clothesline, but Christian backdrops him over the top rope, Danielson lands on the apron, Christian turns, catches a forearm to the face, Danielson quickly hooks him up and tries to suplex him over the top rope, Christian lands behind Danielson on the apron and quickly wraps his arm around his head dropping him on the apron with a reverse falling DDT, the crowd pops, Christian lands on the floor and throws his arms up to the crowd, they’re chanting “ROH” and Christian slides back into the ring, watches Danielson for a moment while he still lays on the apron, Christian grabs him by the back of the head getting him up, while he’s still on the apron, halfway up, Christian reaches over the top rope, but Danielson with a shoulder to the gut, Danielson launches himself over the top and over Christian, comes down in a sunset flip, but Christian drops down on his shoulders, Danielson throws his legs up, catching the arms of Christian, rolls him through, Christian quickly grabs the legs of Danielson and pulls him center ring locking in a Texas Cloverleaf, sitting down on the back of Danielson very hard, cinching the hold in, Danielson keeps trying to get out of the hold, but Christian keeps using his size advantage to keep him in the center of the ring, at one point, Christian decides to try standing straight up with the cloverleaf and leans back, with all of the blood rushing to the head of Danielson and the pressure applied to his left leg in full, Danielson however, in trying to get out of the hold is able to swing himself up as Christian is leaning forward to lean back for more pressure and grabs ahold of the back of Christian’ head driving the knee up and holding him in a very modified choke hold, Christian drops him to the mat, letting go of his legs and Danielson starts nailing elbows to the top of the head

• 41 - 45 min : Danielson gets behind Christian as he’s trying to get up, locks his arms and starts nailing the elbows as the fans are to their feet, the chants are hardcore and completely 50/50 as they were at the beginning of the match, Danielson stops the elbows, hooks the arms in and goes for Cattle Mutilation, but Christian sits out and they wrestle their way back to their feet, Christian goes for some cheap heat and tries to throw a back low blow, but Danielson saw it coming and caught his leg, Christian hobbles around and jumps up nailing a backwards enziguiri, Christian slowly up, waits as Danielson starts to get up and grabs him from behind, Christian wraps his arms around and has him set for the Unprettier, but Danielson quickly frees his arms, grabs the arms of Christian, wrestles him to the ground and locks in Cattle Mutilation!!! They’re in the center of the ring! The ring announcer informs us that there is 10 seconds left in the match and begins the count down, Christian screaming in pain as they ring announcer gets to 1, the bell rings and Danielson releases the hold, they both lay there as the crowd explodes with cheers, chanting “ROH” and fading into “THAT WAS AWESOME!”

• Paul Turner informs the referee of the decision… the ring announcer informs the crowd that there is a time limit draw, the crowd begins to boo and immediately starts chanting “FIVE MORE MINUTES!”

DP : Christian Cage again taking one of the pioneers of Ring of Honor to the limit tonight! Last night he and Roderick Strong put on an amazing match only to have tonight’s match come down to a time limit draw

LL : And you can hear the fans, who thought that the last 45 minutes have been spectacular, they want to see a winner tonight Dave

DP : It definitely appears that way Lenny, and we still have the Main Event to come with Nigel McGuinness and Jerry Lynn

[Danielson and Cage are across the ring from each other staring, Danielson grabs the mic from the ring announcer]

Danielson : I don’t know about you Christian, but I didn’t come here tonight to send these fans home without a winner, what do you say we give them what they want? [turns to the crowd] DO YOU GUYS WANT FIVE MORE MINUTES?! [Crowd pops and the chants start up again of “FIVE MORE MINUTES”] What do you say champ?

[Cage looks around at the crowd, then points to Danielson and points back and forth between the two of them and puts 5 fingers in the air, and starts nodding his head, the crowd pops again and “ROH” chants all around]

DP : WE’RE GOING TO GET IT LENNY! FIVE MORE MINUTES!

LL : And this could be the most intense five minutes of the night Dave

[Paul Turner calls for the bell again and we’re underway again]

Bryan Danielson vs Christian Cage

FIVE MORE MINUTES

• The crowd was hotter than they had been all night, not a single person was sitting

• Danielson and Cage tie up in the center of the ring, both trying to get an advantage, Danielson blocks an attempt at an arm drag from Christian, grabs him from behind and DANIELSON SPECIAL! Danielson gets the armbar, Christian tries to get out of the hold, Danielson puts more pressure on, Christian slowly to his knees, Danielson quickly re-positions himself and locks his legs around the head of Christian with the Triangle Choke, starts nailing elbows to the top of his head, Christian continues to get up despite this, lifts Danielson up and brings him down hard with a modified sitout powerbomb, picking up a 2 count

• Christian uses the ropes to help himself up, Danielson is slowly getting up, as Danielson gets up and turns around Christian is flying at him across the ring and nails him with a spear, Christian screams, picking Danielson up, hooks the arms twisting him around and nails the Unprettier! Christian covers, Paul Turner counts – ONE…. TWO… THR-NO!

• Danielson kicks out and Christian sits up obviously frustrated, Danielson quickly pops up and grabs his arms from behind and lets out a loud yell hooking Christian’ arms and turning him, CATTLE MUTILATION, the crowd is screaming, the roof is rattling, Danielson is screaming while having the hold on, Christian is screaming and…. HE TAPS! CHRISTIAN TAPS! The place EXPLODES with chants of “ROH!” as Christian taps out, fading into “THAT WAS AWESOME” again and then fading into “BEST IN THE WORLD” as they both lay in the middle of the ring, the chants then fade into “THANK YOU CHRISTIAN”

Winner : “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson

Match Rating : B

DP : Bryan Danielson has made Christian Cage submit! The “Hottest Free Agent” has fallen to the “Best in the World”! Lenny Leonard, can you believe it?

LL : There is no denying that this was a match that made this weekend worthwhile, it had everything, two spectacular athletes, a rabid crowd and a fantastic finish, THAT was an awesome match Dave Prazak, I really am impressed, Christian Cage has certainly proven himself this weekend

[Danielson and Christian are both getting up across the ring from each other, they both turn at the same time and stare across the ring at each other as the fans are cheering and chanting “ROH”, Christian and Danielson meet in the center of the ring with a long handshake, embracing each other as the fans are cheering again, Christian raises Danielson’ hand and vice versa, Christian leaves the ring while “Final Countdown” starts playing, we’re treated to some more Danielson funnery in the ring and around the ringside area before the logo goes across the screen again and “Scapegoat” by Fear Factory is playing, out comes Jerry Lynn to a great ovation]

DP : It’s time for the main event Lenny, a non-title affair, however, our next double shot weekend will put us back home in Philadelphia on Friday night, New York City on Saturday night and if Jerry Lynn wins tonight, he’s been promised a World Title match that weekend

LL : And Jerry Lynn has a lot to prove not only to Nigel McGuinness, but to the fans

DP : The fans have always been behind Jerry Lynn, what are you talking about?!

[the guitar chords hit and the champ begins his entrance]

LL : Shh, show some respect Dave

[Nigel does his normal entrance, the ring announcer makes the introductions and we’re ready to get underway, no code of honor for this match]

ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness vs Jerry Lynn

Non-Title Challenge Match

• Good Match, however, not much could have really followed the Danielson – Christian match

• Nigel spent the first five or ten minutes complaining about anything, whether it was a fan yelling at him that he was trying to have ejected to swearing that Jerry’ boots were untied to making Todd Sinclair pat Jerry Lynn down for a fourth or fifth time, he was doing all that he could to stall the match, everytime a tie-up would be attempted, he would claim that his arm was too tight and needed to work out the knots, he would leave the ring and have Nick Dinsmore massage out his shoulder and arm, which would get the crowd going

• Finally we get a lock up at about 8 minutes into the match

• The match itself was kind of unspectacular compared to other encounters that they’ve had

• Best spot of the match had Nigel setting up Jerry for the top rope Jawbreaker, which Jerry ducked under and held onto the top rope pushing himself off, taking Nigel down with a flying head scissors

• Finish came at the nearly twenty-five minute mark, Nigel wound up for the Jawbreaker Lariat but Jerry ducked underneath it and used the momentum of Nigel hitting the other side to catch him as he came back with a big jumping tornado DDT, Lynn gets the cover in the center of the ring and the ONE…TWO…THREE

Winner : Jerry Lynn

Match Rating : C+

[Crowd is chanting “Jerry” as Lynn gets to his feet soaking in the cheers, Nick Dinsmore is going nuts outside the ring and Nigel can’t believe the outcome either]

DP : Jerry Lynn has done it! Next month it will be Jerry Lynn – Nigel McGuinness for the ROH World Title! Lenny Leonard, I can’t believe it

LL : I’m speechless Dave, I never thought that Jerry Lynn had a chance myself!

DP : Fans, we’re out of time and the main event for our next double shot weekend are standing in the ring right now, Jerry Lynn will face Nigel McGuinness… for Lenny Leonard and the rest of the Ring of Honor crew, I’m Dave Prazak saying we’ll see you very shortly when Ring of Honor debuts on Sun Sports!

[Fade out to Nigel and Lynn facing off still]

Overall show rating : C+

I've just got myself up to speed on this diary. Cool stuff. Dragon vs. Christian was an epic match by all accounts--hope I can pull off a B match in my diary soon. I'm interested to see what direction you'll go now that you're going to have a TV show.

Keep up the good work on your end and hope you continue to enjoy things over here, I've got some things planned, so we'll see how things pan out

Winner : Nigel McGuinness

Match Rating : C

Prazak & Leonard hyped the next match by showing the television crowd a few highlights leading up to tonight’ match, going back to The Hangmen 3 and ending with a small highlight of their match at Proving Ground 2009

Brent Albright vs BJ Whitmer

They battered each other through the match, each man showcasing numerous suplex variations, Albright went for the Crowbar, however, Whitmer seeing it coming flipped him around into a victory roll, picking up the win

Winner : BJ Whitmer

Match Rating : C-

Delirious vs Rocky Romero

Good match, Romero making a final appearance in Ring of Honor fulfilling his agreement, which was discussed prior to the match by Dave & Lenny, the crowd chanted “Please Don’t Go” at the start of the match, Delirious and Romero worked each other, match went about twenty minutes with both men hitting a majority of their signature holds, Romero looked to be ready to put Delirious away, however, Delirious snuck out behind him and locked in the Cobra Stretch, forcing Romero to tap out in the center of the ring

Winner : Delirious

Match Rating : C-

After the match, Romero & Delirious shook hands, Delirious left the ring so that Rocky Romero could have a moment with the fans

[Note from fans in attendance – The footage that did not make the air was the fans giving Rocky Romero a fair send off, chanting “Please Don’t Go” and “Thank You Rocky”]

Davey Richards & Chris Hero vs Austin Aries & FIP Champion Roderick Strong

Good match for the first main event on ROH television, there were some obvious teases of tension between Hero & Richards, finish of the match came with Roderick Strong being double teamed by Hero & Richards constantly, Roderick starts to mount an offense, trying to get the tag, but Hero keeps cutting him off, Strong gains some momentum, irish whip attempt on Hero is reversed, Austin Aries catches the blind tag, Roderick ducks under a clothesline attempt and Davey catches him with a knee in the back, quickly hooking his arms, Hero already coming at him with the Roaring Elbow, Roderick moves out of the way and at the same time Davey moves out of the way, Hero catching nothing but air, Richards and Hero start screaming at each other over the miscommunication, Hero turns around to a boot from Roderick, he scoops him up and slams him down with a Power Breaker as Austin Aries comes off the top with the 450, Roderick with a sick kick to Davey as he tries to make the save and Austin Aries gets the pinfall

Winners : Austin Aries & FIP Champion Roderick Strong

Match Rating : C+

Prazak and Leonard thank us for tuning in, thank Sun Sports again for giving Ring of Honor the opportunity and we’re treated to some Sweet & Sour arguing as the first edition of Ring of Honor : THIS is WRESTLING comes to a close.

Presents

THIS is WRESTLING

March Week 2, 2009

We get our normal opening, then are treated to Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard who are giving us a run down of the stars that we’ll see tonight.

“Addicted to Love” Rhett Titus vs Naomichi Marufuji

Good little opening match, Rhett kept trying to get Marufuji to give the fans a little thrust, however, Marufuji wasn’t playing into his games, started chopping and kicking Rhett before catching Rhett with a jumping head scissors taking Rhett down, Marufuji then teased a little thrust but instead ran into the corner with a dropkick while Rhett lie there.. The match only lasted six minutes or so, Rhett got in enough offense to light a fire under Marufuji, a Shiranui later and Rhett was down for the count

Winner : Naomichi Marufuji

Match Rating : C-

After the match Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard played hype duties to the fact that Marufuji will be on hand for Take No Prisoners weekend we then find out as Erick Stevens makes his entrance, that his opponent tonight will be Marufuji’ opponent at Take No Prisoners, the diabolical Raven, as Raven made his entrance Prazak and Leonard discussed the recent transaction pairing the Age of the Fall with Sweet & Sour, Incorporated

Erick Stevens vs Raven

Not a bad match, Raven dealt with Stevens as he would anyone else and Stevens was no match to Raven and his attack, Raven put Stevens away in less than five minutes with the DDT.

Winner : Raven

Match Rating : C+

Dave Prazak spends some time after the commercial break putting over the SHIMMER championship as well as the SHIMMER champion, Mschif who is scheduled to face Daizee Haze in a non-title affair.

SHIMMER Champion MsChif vs Daizee Haze

Very good match, one of the best SHIMMER matches in ROH thus far, Daizee nearly had MsChif with the Mind Trip, but MsChif was able to get out of it, tried the green mist but Daizee ducked her head down allowing MsChif’ plan to complete successfully as she quickly rolled Daizee up with a small package picking up the win

Winner : MsChif

Match Rating : C+

Lenny Leonard went on after the match and as Arik Cannon was making his entrance to put over the FIP Championship, stating that not only was this the first FIP title defense on Ring of Honor television, it’s also the first title defense in Roderick Strong’ third reign as FIP Champion.

Roderick Strong © vs Arik Cannon

FIP Championship

Surprisingly this was the match of the night! Cannon and Strong pushed each other to the limit, Strong hit nearly every variation of backbreaker on Cannon, however, it wasn’t nearly enough to keep Cannon down, Cannon hit Roderick with a sit out Death Valley Driver nearly picking up the win, in the end of it all, Roderick Strong was able to overcome, hitting the Power Breaker on Arik Cannon out of nowhere and picking up the win

Winner and STILL FIP Champion : Roderick Strong

Match Rating : B-

The fans showed their respect with a standing ovation for both men, we get a handshake after the match, both men showing respect for each other.

Back from commercial and we’ve got Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera, Leyendas de la Lucha Libre coming to the ring as they will be challenging for the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Titles.

Kevin Steen & El Generico © vs Leyendas de la Lucha Libre

ROH World Tag Team Titles

Good match, got a lot of good tag team work out of both teams, the finish though was a bit messy with Psicosis landing awkwardly outside after taking a yakuza kick to the face from Generico as he was up top, Juvy fell victim to the Package Piledriver – BRAINBUSSTAAHHHH combination

Winners and STILL ROH World Tag Team Champions : Kevin Steen & El Generico

Match Rating : C-

We get a small highlight package of Davey Richards winning Four Corner Survival to get the chance to wrestle for the ROH World Title tonight, then we get comments from Larry Sweeney stating that the ROH World Title will be coming home to Sweet & Sour, Inc tonight.

Nigel McGuinness © vs Davey Richards

ROH World Title

Good title defense by Nigel McGuinness, he really looked like a strong champion in this match, however, Davey Richards looked like a strong challenger as well, title nearly changed hands on a couple of occasions with Nigel being over confident about the match itself, nearly losing to a backslide. Finishing sequence went down with Chris Hero getting involved, he attempted to distract Nigel, climbing into the ring as Larry Sweeney had Todd Sinclair distracted, Chris Hero went for a Roaring Elbow on Nigel, but nailed Davey instead, screaming down at him “IT’S MY BELT!” and turning around to get nailed with the Jawbreaker Lariat by Nigel, Nigel quickly rolled up Davey Richards and got the pinfall.

Winner and STILL ROH World Champion : Nigel McGuinness

Match Rating : C

After the match, Nigel left the ring, Hero and Richards both laid out, Richards got to his feet looking around and he and Hero had a standoff while the show was fading to black.

Final Rating : C

March Week 2, 2009

Monday – Ring of Honor officials have been dealing with a barrage of phone calls and emails from Larry Sweeney regarding the decision to place him on a team opposing Chris Hero, Jimmy Jacobs and Raven stating that he still has the contract of Davey Richards in his possession and that he will not allow things such as these to happen, he is claiming that he is in contact with attorneys to settle the differences.

Tuesday – Supercard of Honor weekend is being discussed even before Take No Prisoners is completed, it appears that Ring of Honor officials have been discussing what to do after the outcome of the ROH World Title match between Nigel McGuinness and Jerry Lynn this weekend, there have been talks of giving the champ the weekend off, however, if Jerry Lynn were to capture the title, being the type of champion that he would be, Ring of Honor officials are sure that he will want to defend the title right away, more on this as the story progresses

Tuesday – Ring of Honor officials are said to be very interested in plans for their two new signings, Ryan Cruz has gotten very good reviews from some high up in the company, working various dark matches for the past couple of weeks, the other being Josh Abercrombie, who will be making his Ring of Honor debut at Dedicated when he faces Erick Stevens

Wednesday – FIP Champion and ROH Mainstay Roderick Strong has been very vocal in his disgust with Larry Sweeney and the latest happenings of Sweet & Sour, Incorporated he’s once again petitioning ROH President Cary Silkin for Steel Cage Warfare and along with Brent Albright, it seems that they may have his ear.

Thursday – Last night’s ROH : THIS is WRESTLING on Sun Sports went off without a hitch, many within the company enjoyed the main event, however, the surprise of the night was Roderick Strong and Arik Cannon, who Ring of Honor officials were unsure of his future within the company, after seeing what he’s been able to do with both Necro Butcher and Roderick Strong, it’s been said that Arik Cannon’ future could be very bright, however, for the time being he has commitments with another organization that he must complete before he can become a full time member of the Ring of Honor roster.

Thursday – Ring of Honor offices were contacted today by Brandon Thomaselli, it appears that World Wrestling Entertainment have contacted him as well regarding a developmental contract and he is set to report to Florida Championship Wrestling a week after his brothers Vito and Salvatore Thomaselli, Ring of Honor see a big future in store for the huskiest of the Thomaselli Brothers and wish him well as he continues his dream of competing on the big stage.

Friday – The first match for Supercard of Honor IV weekend is signed and the ink is barely dry, regardless of whether they retain the titles this weekend at Dedicated, Kevin Steen & El Generico will face off with the newest additions to the Ring of Honor tag team division, Buh Buh Ray & D-Von, the Dudley Boys.

Friday – Ring of Honor staff, superstars and front office are all gathering at The Arena as this is being posted, Ring of Honor “Dedicated” is tonight and the sold out crowd in South Philadelphia will be electric.

Next Post : Dedicated – followed by Take No Prisoners!

Comments, suggestions, etc are always welcome… Hope you enjoy the next double shot weekend!

Go Nigel!

I like Lynn and all, but I just don't see him as ROH champion. Though he'll probably win it in real life this weekend.

I gotta agree..... This weekend is a PPV taping and I believe their debut in Texas, so something big has got to happen.... Aside from Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana making his return

Just wanted to update anyone who actually reads this on what's going on... I was stupid and bought an Acer Aspire 5515 laptop... only problem is that with the latest vista updates, it locks out my keyboard and touchpad, well, last night I had enough of it and not being able to get into my laptop for a day that I did a restore... Stupid me... I lost what I had written so far for Dedicated & Take No Prisoners... and just earlier last week I was thinking about doing the carbonite thing... well, thankfully it wasn't as much for Back in the Saddle Again that I lost, my main concern is the Broken Road to Wrestlemania, which I lost two days worth of "diary" that I had written.. .STUPID STUPID STUPID... so tonight I'll be working on both to get them back up to where they were, hopefully have the finish products by this weekend as I have an hour commute to and from work and am generally up pretty much all night most nights anyways... so... wish me luck, these next couple of days are gonna be fun!

Wow, that sucks! It sounds like you didn't lose any actual TEW data, though, which I would think is the most important thing. Do you back that up or something? With my diary, I back up the data at the end of every month, and e-mail it to myself in a .zip file. Hopefully it doesn't come to the point where I ever have to try and use that backup, though. Who's to say I'm even doing it right? That would be a stressful stretch of time.

OK, I'm rambling, so I'll just stop and wish you luck on getting caught up.

Well.. .With the Ring of Honor, I lost May - July of shows, however, I always do my booking on paper in a notebook so, it's not all lost, just have to re-run it, thankfully

(OOC : I've decided to update this with somewhat shorter results so I can just move on to the next couple of weeks of TV and shows)

Ring of Honor : Dedicated

Friday, March Week 2, 2009

ROH World Tag Team Champions Kevin Steen & El Generico vs Franky & Apollo

Franky & Apollo showed their strength and dominated Generico most of the match, Steen got the hot tag, however, his offense was short lived as he was double teamed by Franky & Apollo as well, finish came after a failed Package Piledriver on Apollo, he back dropped Steen out of the hold only to meet a Yakuza kick from Generico, Steen climbed up top and came off with the Swanton Bomb to pick up the win.

Winners and STILL ROH World Tag Team Champions : Kevin Steen & El Generico

Match Rating : C-

Psicosis vs Ryan Cruz

This was a basic squash match, the only offense Cruz got in was some punches that Psicosis no-sold, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and Guillotine Leg Drop put Cruz away in under five minutes.

Winner : Psicosis

Match Rating : D

Josh Abercrombie vs Erick Stevens

Abercrombie showed a lot in this match, nearly pinning Erick Stevens on three occasions, however, Erick Stevens overcame with a Pump Handle Bomb for the win

Winner : Erick Stevens

Match Rating : C-

We went backstage and were treated to an appearance from "Sugar" Sean Price as he is standing backstage with Davey Richards and asks his thoughts on Ring of Honor management forcing him to face members of Sweet & Sour, Inc this weekend, Richards explained that he will only take part in the six man match tonight because he has to, he wants nothing to do with Raven or Jimmy Jacobs, it's Hero that he wants, Price was about to ask another question when Larry Sweeney stormed in on the interview and they had an on air discussion about his allegiance, Davey told Larry Sweeney that he is still his agent and that he is still with Sweet & Sour, Inc he wouldn't, however, protect Chris Hero, he wants Chris Hero' blood.

Brandon Thomaselli vs Necro Butcher

They really put out a better match than anyone expected, hard hits, took it to the floor many times, Necro attempted a Tiger Driver from the apron, but Thomaselli got out of it turning the attempt into a belly to belly off of the apron and through a table, finish came not too long later when Thomaselli attempted a powerbomb, Necro lifted Thomaselli up and hit a modified Air Crash Raid for the win

Winner : Necro Butcher

Match Rating : C

Amazing Kong vs Shantelle Taylor

Shantelle Taylor really showed a lot in this match, this wasn't your typical TNA Knockouts match that we would have seen on PPV this month, in fact, I'm pretty sure that we didn't see any basic TNA style in this match, Kong did however pick up the win

Winner : Amazing Kong

Match Rating : C-

Backstage again with "Sugar" Sean Price and he is talking to Roderick Strong and Austin Aries about their tag team partner tonight, Roderick and Austin both state that they don't trust Davey in the least bit, but they'll do what they have to do for the match, we leave Price and go to Kyle Durden who is standing by with Nigel McGuinness who is discussing his night off and the steel cage match the following night, Nigel guarantees victory.

The mark-out moment of the night took place next, The Vulture Squad made their entrance with Julius Smokes, then, Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley made their entrance, Becky Bayless (who had been handling introductions all night) made the introduction of The Vulture Squad, however, just as she was about to make the introduction of The Dudley Boys, D-Von slapped the mic out of her hand while Buh Buh Ray grabbed her by the back of the head, D-Von stood in a stand off with The Vulture Squad while Buh Buh forced Becky to her knees and then they all heard it and the crowd ERUPTED

Voice : Well..... Well.... Wellllll..... [The crowd exploding with cheers and chanting "Gertner" as Joel Gertner walked from behind the curtain] It appears that some little broad forgot her place, WE own this building and this town and there's only one MAN who can make the proper introduction for the most decorated tag team in wrestling history! [crowd still going nuts chanting "Gertner and a small "E-C-Dub" chant starts up in the Philly crowd as Gertner climbs into the ring and stands in front of Becky and Buh Buh]

Gertner : Ten years ago I told her that she should lay less, until tonight that's the last time that I saw Becky Bay-less, on her knees in front of the guy, who tonight is gonna stick it in her brown eye [pop from the crowd] Yes, it is I, the Quintessential Stud Muffin, Joel "You'll be beggin for me to stuff ya, bend over b**** I'll show ya how it's done in Philadelphia" Gertner [Crowd goes nuts some more, chanting "Gertner" over and over again, then works into a small "this is awesome" chant] Yes, tonight, in front of our HOME... TOWN... CROWD, it is my esteemed privilege to once again introduce to you, hailing from Dudleyville, weighing in tonight at a rough and ready three hundred and twenty five pounds, he's the one that your mother warned you about, Buh Buh Ray Dudley! And his brother from another mother, hailing from South Central Dudleyville, tonight he weighs in at a [crowd joins in with him] slim, trim, buff, cut, ripped, chiseled and JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKED [crowd starts cheering] Man do I ever love that... TWO HUNDRED AND SEVEN- [buh Buh and D-Von grab Gertner and talk in each ear, Gertner looks at D-von with a shocked look] I stand corrected, TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY FOUR POUNDS, [looks over at D-Von] You been pumping iron D-Von? [D-Von flexes a muscle] Shootin the juice on the DL? [D-Von starts towards Gertner] They are the most decorated tag team in professional wrestling history and your FUTURE Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions, THE DUDLEY BOYS!!! [Crowd pops and starts a "Dudley" chant]

The Dudley Boys vs The Vulture Squad

Typical Dudley Boy match, they were definitely in control most of the match, however, D-Von did have a nice little exchange with Ruckus, finishing out with D-Von catching Ruckus coming into the corner with an overhead belly to belly suplex over the top rope and to the outside, finish came a few minutes later with the Dudley Death Drop

Winners : The Dudley Boys

Match Rating : D

Juventud Guerrera vs Bryan Danielson

Good match, probably the best of the night, Danielson and Juvy complimented each other very well, Juvy nearly had Danielson early on, catching him with a 450 very early on, however, in the end, Juventud couldn't overcome Cattle Mutilation and tapped out

Winner : "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson

Match Rating : C+

Austin Aries, Roderick Strong & Davey Richards vs Raven, Jimmy Jacobs & Chris Hero

Good match, Davey stayed true to his word from earlier in the night as he refused to face anyone except for Chris Hero, everytime Hero would tag out, he would tag Aries or Roderick in, finish came with Hero loading up his elbow pad, getting ready to hit Roderick with the Roaring Elbow and as he did, Davey came off the top rope with a missile dropkick taking out Hero, allowing Aries the opportunity to hit the 450 and pick up the win

Winners : Austin Aries, Roderick Strong & Davey Richards

Match Rating : C

Show finished out with Richards taking out Roderick and Aries with a DR Driver each, leaving the ring with Larry Sweeney following

Show Rating : C

Great show, but the highlight was definitely JOEL FREAKIN' GERTNER!!!

Glad you enjoyed it, I knew I had to bring him back at least once for the Dudley Boys in ring return in The Arena, I'll have Take No Prisoners up pretty soon, then on to more TV shows and getting the next double shot weekend ready.
