prowrestlingnews.com: Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling signs new talent

PSW has announced the signing of Murderous Mikey, Mad Dogg Mortimer, Madman Boone, The Darkness Warrior & Vin Tanner.

The biggest signing out of those 5 is of course Vin Tanner, a DAVE veteran who fell out of the spot light once the promotion closed.

Inside sources have told us that PSW is looking to flesh out their roster as they head into 2008 with high expectations of breaking out into the mainstream.

"New Years Revolution!", PSW's first live event of 2008, is set to take place this Sunday night. The show is headlined by a PSW Championship match between Johnny Martin and JD Morgan.

Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling

New Years Revolution!

live at the Ministry infront of 1,000 people

Rules:

-Every match is fought under Hardcore rules.

-There are no countouts, dqs or ropebreaks.

Pre-Show:

Lazy Joe defeated Mad Dog Mortimer in 6:25 by pinfall with a Wake Up Call.

Rating: F+

Notes: The crowd made it very clear that they don't like Lazy Joe. Maybe this wasn't the greatest of matches to start off the show with since it brought the crowd's mood down.

Dead Bolt defeated Murderous Mikey in 4:54 by pinfall with a Yankee Slam.

Rating: F+

Notes: The crowd hated Murderous Mikey way more than Lazy Joe. 2 matches so far and they're both stinkers. Mikey and Joe's PSW future doesn't look too bright.

Main Show:

Alex Braun defeated The Punisher in 12:55 by pinfall with a Braun Damage.

Rating: D

Notes: Punisher looked tired during the end of the match, will have to keep his matches nice and short.

JD Morgan, Teddy Powell & Steven Parker announce Vin Tanner as the newest member of the Untouchables.

Ash Campbell interrupts and challenges Steven Parker to a National Championship match. Steven Parker says that he's so confident that he'll beat Ash that he's willing to put his PSW career on the line as well.

Rating: E

Notes: Bad move on having a promo. The crowd hated it. Looks like I'll have to focus on the in-ring action more than the promos.

Loser Leaves Town Match

for the National Championship

Ash Campbell defeated Steven Parker in 14:50 by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press. Ash Campbell wins the PSW National title.

Rating: D

Notes: Not only did Steven Parker lose the National title but he lost his job with PSW. You won't be seeing him around for awhile.

The Ring Generals defeated The Good Ol' Boys in 9:48 when Dean Waldorf defeated Wooton Fitzpaine by pinfall with a Walforf Salad Toss.

Rating: E

Notes: The very vocal crowd treated Wooton Fitzpaine with utter contempt. Time to look for some new tag teams to add to the roster.

The Wolverine defeated Tank Bradley in 11:31 by pinfall with The Maul.

Rating: D

Notes: Both Wolverine and Tank Bradley looked tired.

The Wolverine and The Punisher attack Tank Bradley post-match. Alex Braun runs out with a chair and saves his tag team partner.

Rating: E

Vin Tanner defeated Frankie Future in 9:43 by pinfall with a V For Victory.

Rating: D

Notes: Vin Tanner and Frankie Future have great chemistry with each other.

Madman Boone defeated Primal Rage in 9:40 by pinfall with a Boone And Bust.

Rating: D-

Notes: The crowd was on the fence about this match. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great.

Teddy Powell defeated Little Bill Lebowski in 7:16 by pinfall with a Motion Censor.

Rating: D-

Notes: Teddy Powell needs to freshen up his character. Little Bill is improving in his performance skills.

PSW Championship Match

Johnny Martin defeated JD Morgan in 17:43 by pinfall with a Twist On The Rocks. Johnny Martin retains the PSW Championship.

Rating: D+

Notes: Johnny Martin and JD Morgan don't click, which sucks cause they were lined up for a long feud. Time to switch things up.

Teddy Powell and JD Morgan attack Johnny Martin post-match. Morgan and Powell tell Vin Tanner to knock Martin out with a chairshot but he refused. JD Morgan blasts Johnny Martin with a chair then yells at Vin Tanner all the way to the back.

Rating: E+

Final Rating: D

Notes: The show can be considered a success. Don't know if I should stick with JD Morgan/Johnny Martin feud I had planned or switch things up with two other guys that can work well with each other. Will probably test out the feud one more time at the next PSW show. Good start so far but I still need to flesh out the roster.

youtube.com - Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling's "My Bloody Valentine" Podcast

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/banns/PSW.jpg">

We open up the podcast with Mitch Naess & Doc Messing sitting at a desk in a very dark room.

Mitch Naess: Hello everyone, welcome to a very special edition of PSW's Youtube podcast. I'm the "Voice of Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling" Mitch Naess along with me my broadcast partner, Doc Messing, and we're here to run down "My Bloody Valentine".

Doc Messing: That's right. We're just a little over 2 weeks away from PSW's "My Bloody Valentine" and things are starting to heat up!

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/AlexBraun_alt.jpg"><img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TankBradley.jpg"> vs <img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TheWolverine.jpg"><img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TheIdahoPunisher.jpg">

The New Jersey Devils vs The Deadly Alliance

Mitch Naess: At "New Years Revolution!" These two teams met in two separate singles matches. Alex Braun defeated The Punisher while The Wolverine managed to beat Tank Bradley.

Doc Messing: After Wolverine upset Tank Bradley, the Deadly Alliance showed their true colors by double teaming Tank Bradley untill his tag team partner saved the day.

Mitch Naess: PSW cameras caught up with the New Jersey Devils earlier today.

We are taken to a very dark and dirty alley. The ground is covered in garbage, an empty plastic bad blows across the screen, carried off by a strong wind. Alex Braun and Tank Bradley are standing next to a huge garbage container, Alex is staring at the camera while Tank has his head down.

Alex Braun: Deadly Alliance, if you mess with the Devils, you're going to get the horns! Last month, you made the deadly mistake of double teaming Tank. At "My Bloody Valentine", we're taking you to hell and back!

Tank Bradley: The New Jersey Devils have been to the dance before. Alex and I have held the DAVE Tag Team Championships on 3 occasions. Deadly Alliance, it wont be long untill those Tag Titles are where they belong...around our waists!!

Tank smashes his head against Alex's, busting himself open. The New Jersey Devils growl at the camera, blood dripping down their foreheads, trying to intiminate their opponents.

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/AshCampbell.jpg"> vs <img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/HonestFrank.jpg">

National Championship Match

Ash Campbell© vs Frankie Future

Doc Messing: Last month, The Untouchables announced a brand new addition to their team, Vin Tanner.

Mitch Naess: Vin Tanner is a former 2 time DAVE Champion, who seemed to step out of the spotlight once DAVE folded.

Doc Messing: To everyone's shock and surprise, Ash Campbell interrupted Vin Tanner's induction celebration and challenged Steven Parker to a National Championship match. Parker not only accepted but put his career on the line.

Mitch Naess: Steven Parker's confidence got the best of him once again when Ash Campbell beat him to when the National Championship and end his PSW career. We caught up with the current PSW Champion just days ago at his home.

We find ourselves at a very humble and quiet home. Ash Campbell is sitting down on his sofa, the National Championship resting on his lap. Above him, a picture of his father, Nemesis, one of DAVE's past top stars.

Ash Campbell: I was shocked more than anything when I heard the referee's hand come down to count the 3 during my National Championship match. When I was handed the title, it was the greatest moment of my life. I finally realized how my dad felt after he won all of those countless titles. I promise you that I will be a fighting champion, I will defend my championship as much as humanly possible. If you want a title shot, just come on down, you know where to find me.

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/JDMorgan.jpg"><img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TeddyPowell.jpg"> vs <img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/JohnnyMartin.jpg"><img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/MadmanBoone.jpg">

Falls Count Anywhere

JD Morgan & Teddy Powell vs Johnny Martin & Madman Boone

Mitch Naess: Johnny Martin made yet another successful PSW Championship defense against JD Morgan. Unfortunately, it didn't sit well with the Untouchables who attacked Morgan after the match.

Doc Messing: JD Morgan and Teddy Powell double teamed Johnny Martin while Vin Tanner seemed to stand by and watch. When JD Morgan told Tanner to smash a chair across Martin's head he refused.

Mitch Naess: At "My Bloody Valentine", Johnny Martin will get a chance to seek redemption when he takes on JD Morgan and Teddy Powell in a Falls Count Anywhere match, by his side, his hand picked tag team partner...Madman Boone.

Doc Messing: PSW cameras caught up with The Untouchables just moments after JD Morgan's match against Johnny Martin at "New Years Revolution!".

JD Morgan is huffing and puffing, trying to find something to sit on in the backstage area, behind him, Tedd Powell, trying to help him sit down on a wooden table. Vin Tanner catches up with them, late, he asks JD Morgan is he's okay. Morgan's thick English accent lashes out at him.

JD Morgan: Am I okay? Am I okay?! You didn't hit him with the bloody chair after I told you to, you bloody wanker! Whats your deal?

Vin Tanner: I froze. I've been out of the game for so long that I-

JD Morgan: Shut your trap! You better think long and hard about who's side you're really on. Because you're either with us or against us and trust me...you don't want to be against us.

Teddy Powell helps a limping JD Morgan to his private dressing room while Vin Tanner is left thinking to himself.

Mitch Naess: That pretty much wraps it up with us. Join us live at the Ministry on Saturday, February 9th for "My Bloody Valentine". I'm Mitch Naess, he's Doc Messing...GOOD NIGHT!

We fade to black as the PSW logo appears on screen.

Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling

My Bloody Valentine

live at the Ministry infront of 1,000 people

Rules:

-Every match is fought under Hardcore rules.

-There are no countouts, dqs or ropebreaks.

Pre-Show:

Grease Hogg and Lead Belly defeated Thomas Morgan and Pyromaniac in 6:39 when Grease Hogg defeated Thomas Morgan by pinfall with a Grease Spot.

Rating: E

Notes: The crowd didn't seem to like Pyromaniac much. Grease Hogg and Lead Belly, The Dirty White Boys, looked good in their PSW debut.

Mad Dog Mortimer defeated Brimstone in 5:36 by pinfall with a DDT.

Rating: F-

Notes: Brimstone wasn't liked at all and seemed off. The crowd were totally turned off by having a match between two jobbers. I still have a soft spot for Mad Dog Mortimer so he isn't going anywhere.

Main Show:

The New Jersey Devils defeated The Deadly Alliance in 11:53 when Alex Braun defeated The Punisher by pinfall with a Braun Damage.

Rating: D

Notes: Wolverine & Alex Braun looked tired during the last moments of the match. They need to be whipped into shape. Tank Bradley was off of his game but Alex Braun looked good.

Sgt. Bubba Lee West defeated Little Bill Lebowski in 10:32 by pinfall with a Recon Wrench.

Rating: E+

Notes: Not a very good debut for Sgt. Bubba Lee West. I still have big plans for him in the future, lets hope he can recover from this.

National Championship Match

Ash Campbell defeated Frankie Future in 11:56 by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press. Ash Campbell makes defence number 1 of his PSW National title.

Rating: D-

Notes: Ash Campbell was off of his game. Seems like a lot of guys didn't bring their working shoes tonight.

Marv Statler defeated Wooton Fitzpaine in 7:08 by pinfall with a Backdrop Backbreaker.

Rating: E

Notes: Crowd didn't like Wooton Fitzpaine at all. Match was suppose to make Marv look strong as I wanted Statler to destroy Wooton Fitzpaine, too bad it didn't work.

Blackjack Robbins defeated Air Attack Weasel in 12:28 by pinfall with a Leaping Side Suplex.

Rating: E-

Notes: Sad that the crowd didn't like Blackjack Robbins. Kinda wanted Blackjack to be my mean Texan ala Stan Hansen. Air Attack Weasel is improving on his rumble skills.

Vin Tanner defeated Primal Rage in 11:47 by pinfall with a V For Victory.

Rating: D-

Notes: Primal Rage seemed off of his game. Guys need to start getting their stuff in order. Vin Tanner looked tired by the end of the match. Luckily Vin Tanner managed to keep the match together and pull out a decent matchup outta Primal Rage.

Dean Waldorf defeated Thimbleby Langton in 7:02 by pinfall with a Walforf Salad Toss.

Rating: E

Notes: A bit better match than Wootons. The Ring Generals pick up yet another win tonight.

Calvin Dark defeated Xavier Reckless in 9:28 by pinfall.

Rating: E-

Notes: Two youngsters making their debut who probably should've been in the pre-show. Mostly a filler match. Calvin Dark & Xavier Reckless are improving on their performance skills.

Falls Count Anywhere Match

JD Morgan and Teddy Powell defeated Johnny Martin and Madman Boone in 14:44 when JD Morgan defeated Madman Boone by submission with a Cross Atlantic Stretch.

Rating: D+

Notes: JD Morgan and Teddy Powell didn't click as a team, their timing was all over the place. Madman Bone looked tired by the end of the match, I don't blame him since the match went over 14 mins, the longest match of the night.

Final Rating: D-

Notes: Very disappointing show. Lot of the guys were either off or got tired very quickly. Gotta be more careful about match times and pairings next time.

Inside sources have told us that Mark Smart is lined up to team with Little Bill Lebowski at the next live event.

Duncan Kendell announced as new PSW road agent!

After the loss of Fabulous Frank to SWF, PSW was left without a backstage road agent. Many have speculated on who will be assigned the job as the brand new road agent, many suggesting Vin Tanner taking the job as both wrestler and road agent.

youtube.com - Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling's "March Madness" Podcast

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/banns/PSW.jpg">

The show opens with a montage of last month's "My Blood Valentine" event. We fade to Mitch Naess & Doc Messing.

Mitch Naess: Welcome to another edition of PSW's youtube podcast. I'm the "Voice of Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling" Mitch Naess and the man sitting next to me is the witty Doc Messing.

Doc Messing: Allo-Allo!

Mitch Naess: We're just over 1 week away from "March Madness" and it looks like we got another stacked show lined up.

Doc Messing: We sure do, Mitch. After "My Bloody Valentine" I didn't think PSW could outdo themselves but I guess I was wrong.

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TheIdahoPunisher.jpg"><img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TheWolverine.jpg"> vs <img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TankBradley.jpg"><img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/AlexBraun_alt.jpg">

Tag Team Championship

The Deadly Alliance© vs The New Jersey Devils

Mitch Naess: The New Jersey Devils managed to defeat The Deadly Alliance at "My Bloody Valentine" in a non-title match. This time, they're getting a chance to take the tag titles away from the Alliance.

Doc Messing: A lot of people doubted the New Jersey Devils going into their non-title match but they really pulled through. I wouldn't be surprised if they left "March Madness" with the tag titles.

Mitch Naess: Let's go to a pre-recorded message from the Tag Team Champs, the Deadly Alliance...

We find ourselves in a dark and empty park. Wolverine and Punisher walk out from behind a large tree. They have the PSW Tag Titles across their shoulders.

Wolverine: Listen here bubs, you got lucky last month. If ya think you're gonna get lucky again and take away our title then think twice. These titles are staying right where they belong, with the Deadly Alliance.

Punisher: There's a lot of bad people out there who deserved to be punished - like my drunk father. Every night he came home and hit my mother then made sure to make me feel insignificant. But the New Jersey Devils are trying to hurt me way worse than my father will ever be able to, they're trying to take the Tag Titles away from me. Mark my words, Devils, you're going to end up just like everybody else...PUNISHED!

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/MadmanBoone.jpg"> vs <img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/JDMorgan.jpg">

#1 Contendership Match

Madman Boone vs JD Morgan

Doc Messing: JD Morgan is on a hot streak. Not only was he able to sign Vin Tanner up as the newest member of The Untouchables but he also managed to beat Johnny Martin and Madman Boone in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

Mitch Naess: JD Morgan will have the opportunity to get another PSW Championship match but there's one big road block standing in his way...Madman Boone.

Doc Messing: Madman Boone isn't too happy about being forced to tap-out last month to JD's Cross Atlantic Stretch. He's been telling anybody who'll listen that he's going to get Extreme with JD Morgan, something the technical wizard is too familiar with.

Mitch Naess: We caught up with the Untouchables a few days ago, here's what they had to say...

A black stretch limo pulls into a parking lot. The door swings open, JD Morgan, Teddy Powell and Vin Tanner step out, decked in suits and dark sun glasses.

Camera Guy: Hey, JD Morgan sir...I'm with Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling. I'm here to get a few words with you about "March Madness"

JD Morgan: You bloody wanker! We were just about to keep company with the finest ladies in all of Pittsburgh. But you wouldn't know that, the last time you got any action was from Miss. Right.......hand!

Camera Guy: I was just tol-

JD Morgan: Shut up you blabbering idiot! Not only will Teddy beat Johnny Martin for the PSW Champion but I will win the #1 Contendership and we'll make sure that the title will never leave the Untouchables! And as for Vin Tanner, as long as he has his head straight and listens to me, he's going to do just fine.

Tanner removes his sun glasses and looks at JD Morgan. He places his hand on his hips, not looking very pleased.

Vin Tanner: Look I told you I'm on your side. I'm an Untouchable and nothings going to change that.

JD Morgan: Good. Keep it that way. Now lets get going, we don't want to keep our lady friends waiting.

Morgan shoves the camera guy onto the floor. JD Morgan and Teddy Powell walk past him while Vin Tanner stays behind and helps him up.

JD Morgan: (from a distance) Come on you bloody wanker!! Leave that grubby camera man alone!

Vin Tanner: Arghh....

Vin Tanner walks off screen with his head held down.

<img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/JohnnyMartin.jpg"> vs <img src="http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q186/wlw07/TeddyPowell.jpg">

PSW Championship

Johnny Martin© vs Teddy Powell

Doc Messing: PSW Champion, Johnny Martin, defends his title against Untouchable member, Teddy Powell in what will certainly be a very exciting main event.

Mitch Naess: Teddy Powell is going into this match very confident, especially after beating Johnny Martin in a tag team match last month. But he shouldn't overlook the PSW Champion. Johnny Martin isn't considered an Icon for nothing, he has fought off many different challengers in his career and Teddy may end up being just another one of his victims.

Doc Messing: Lets take a look at some pre-recorded words from Johnny Martin...

Johnny Martin is standing infront of a green background, he has the PSW Championship across his shoulder.

Johnny Martin: There's a couple of unwritten rules in this business that all wrestlers follow. They don't have to be told these rules, they just know. One of those rules is that you never try to injure your opponent. Sure, beating him up untill he cant kick out at 3 is totally fine but to injure a wrestler so that he cant work and provide for his family is a no-no. Untouchables, you constantly try to injure me, you try to end my career. At "March Madness" all rules get thrown outta the window. I'm going to beat you to within an inch from life, Teddy Powell, just letting you live long enough to tell JD Morgan that I'm coming after him. Good luck, Teddy, you're going to need it.

We fade back to the Mitch Naess and Doc Messing. They are shuffling papers ontop of their desk.

Doc Messing: That about wraps things up for tonight. You can buy tickets for "March Madness" at pittsburghsteelwrestling.com or ticketmaster.com.

Mitch Naess: I'm Mitch Naess....he's Doc Messing...see ya at "March Madness"!
