Get this... EA is getting in on the act. http://www.neowin.net/comments.php?id=31059&category=gamers Electronic Arts has announced a third game in its NFL lineup, NFL Head Coach (working title). While EA's Madden series offers traditional sim football and NFL Street gives gamers the over-the-top arcade feed, NFL Head Coach will allow gamers to don the headset and take control of every facet of an NFL head coach's job, from drawing up plays to leading their team on Sunday. While most sports strategy games offer a flat, static interface, NFL Head Coach will offer full 3D graphics. The game will also be available for consoles while most games in the genre are PC exclusives. Developer EA Tiburon is making it a point to provide the game with enough depth for hardcore purists, while maintaining flexibility for newcomers. NFL Head Coach is scheduled for release on PC, PS2, and Xbox next spring.
Where does it mention anything about Joe Stallings...
It doesn't, but he's one of the producers of the game. At least, I know he works for EA as a Technical Art Group Manager, and I remember SkyDog confirming that he's working with EA on this title over at FOFC.
Wow, you're all fanboys. Give it shot. Atleast EA will actually release this game next Spring as advertised.. Bowl Bound might not even be out by then.
You're kidding, right? EA can't even make good games in it's core genre - there's a 0% chance of them making a good game in the highly dynamic and subtle world of text-based sport sims. Every game EA makes does a horrific job of replicating real life...all they are is eye candy. That's fatal for this genre. It's not being a fanboy...it's being realistic. FOF > TPF >>>>>> Anything EA sports releases (inc their facked-up version of FOF a few years back) OOTP > BM >>>>> Anything EA sports releases TPB > FBB >>>>> Anything EA sports releases BB ~ TCY >>>>>> Anything EA sports releases Any questions?

My son does not like OOTP,TPF, TDCB, etc. .... he does not "sim" he plays the game with the "joystick".

When I was much youger, in my 20's I did enjoy the graphics and using the joystick, but I out grew that;)
who made you god
That's a question with no answer - religion is based on faith. :D
how do you know what a game little is known about will be like
Um...how about a complete familiarity with every game in the sport sim field, an understanding of history and an understanding of marketing?
I for one love the NCAA football series by ea
So do I - I spend every Sunday playing NCAA football on the XBox with my infant son while NFL is on in the background. However, NCAA Football is just plain atrocious as a sports sim. It's great fun visually, especially for the diehard college football fan, but the management/recruiting features it has are piss-poor. No matter though - that's not what the game's about, nor does it detract from it's enjoyability...it's just not in the "sports sim" genre...it's in the "sports arcade game" genre like nearly every other EA offering.
right now, i doubt BBCF, or TCY could be better, at least to me
Apples and oranges. You're basically saying you prefer a Porsche 911 to the latest Lexus SUV.
i know EA doesnt make the same type of games as grey dog, but whats wrong with trying.
Nothing - except that they're looking to make a wide-appeal sports sim instead of an accurate and dynamic sports sim.

what's interesting is that with each passing version of Madden and NCAAF by EA (I rent them each year), I've noticed more sim elements, some rather shamelessly lifted from FOF, OOTP etc. so I don't think they're incapable of making a great sim...they just haven't had proper motivation (sales projections) to do as of yet. they have terrific resources, their biggest problem is that they are always wedded to a release date and so the product quality suffers. they don't have the option of issuing patches or delaying the release as a smaller company does.
So do I - I spend every Sunday playing NCAA football on the XBox with my infant son while NFL is on in the background. However, NCAA Football is just plain atrocious as a sports sim. Good thing is its entirly possible to own and enjoy both.
Apples and oranges. You're basically saying you prefer a Porsche 911 to the latest Lexus SUV.
good point
Nothing - except that they're looking to make a wide-appeal sports sim instead of an accurate and dynamic sports sim.
It just sounds like your being critical cuz you dont expect the game to be of the same quality as an FOF, or OOTP....Im trying to make the point that the game may very well be enjoyable, which is the most important thing to me. I love realism, but if it's not fun, realism doesnt matter. I tried the TPF demo, wasnt fun, so i didnt care about the realism. I just wont dismiss it as easily as you, thats all

The post was about the EA offering competing with TPF or BBCF - my point was that EA has shown zero interest in competing in the sports sim genre - they compete in the sports arcade game genre. If they do release something envisioned as a sports sim, I would argue (for the reasons listed above) that it'll be crap. :)

:p
I think Irish went awol when he realized LeBron James was a lot better than 3.0 stars, and rasheed wallace wasn't a "cancer" that would ruin the pistons :D
Predicting rookie ratings is a nightmare - I've always acknowledged that. When LeBron came in, no rookie high schooler had ever done much of anything - 3.0 stars would have made him the most productive rookie HSer ever (ahead of Kobe and McGrady and KG). As for Wallace - he is a cancer, but Detroit wins in spite of him. :p
