Hey guys, don't know where Cenafan is for our joint 97 diary. But i've decided to do this one as a bit of a side project. So i hope you all enjoy.

The 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania was not a Wrestlemania that fans in the WWE were used to seeing. It wasn't full of movie stars, over the top celebrity matches, or any wrestling from Vince McMahon. It was serious wrestling. The WWE superstars went out there and fought for pride, championships, and even retirement. Titles were exchanged, streaks were extended against former foes, and fire was re-introduced to a familiar face. The WWE is currently on a roll, and Wrestlemania 25 is exactly where it started..

Priceless Defeated Hawkings and Ryder, Cryme Tyme, and Foreign Dominance to retain the World Tag Titles

In the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania, Team Priceless had beat John Morrison and The Miz in an open invitational match on RAW to win the world tag title belts. After that, many challengers stepped up from both RAW and Smackdown and ECW alike. Interim GM Vickie Guerrero determined that challengers from each brand would compete for the titles in a four way team elimination match to determine the winner. On RAW, Cryme Tyme beat Morrison and Miz to get in the match, Zack And Ryder beat Evan Bourne and Ricky Ortiz for there shot, and the makeshift tag team of Vladimir Kozlov and Umaga beat Miz and Morrison once again on SD! due to interfernce from Tony Atlas and Mark Henry. (It was later revealed that Kozlov, Umaga, Henry and Atlas had formed a stable.

But it was Team Priceless at Wrestlemania who proved they were the best team in the WWE by succesfully defending there World Tag Titles.

Mr. Kennedy Defeated John Morrison

This is the reason the WWE tag team titles were not defended at Wrestlemania, because after Miz and Morrison were denied there shot at the World Tag Titles again, they went right after the WWE Tag Titles and took they right off the waists of the Colon Brothers. Of course, they wouldn't shut up about how they were the greatest tag team since the Road Warriors, how they were two of the greatest single wrestlers of there time and nothing could stop them.

Obviously everyone was sick of hearing them run there mouths every week, so a returning superstar with an ego of the same size decided to step up and shut them up. Every week Morrison and Kennedy would cut great promos on eachother full of hilarity and threats until finnally they decided to settle it a Wrestlemania, leading to a Mr. Kennedy victory due to botched interference by The Miz.

John "Bradshaw" Layfied Defeated Finlay in a retirement match

On an episode of Smackdown 3 weeks before Wrestlemania, the Fighting Irishmen announced his retirement in wrestling, which prompted JBL to come out and give Finlay a round of applause, saying that he and his bastard son were nothing more of a joke in the WWE and that they have accomplished nothing here, and were just a waste of space.

This of course, more than offended Finlay who has had a long and great career in the sport of wrestling. He told JBL that since his return to the WWE he has done nothing except attempt to become WWE champion and fail. He tells JBL that he thinks it's time for him to hang up the boots to and challenges him to a retirement match at WM 25.

JBL accepts the match and the two have an all out brawl at WM, which JBL wins. Finlay retires from the WWE to a standing ovation at the grandest stage of them all.

MVP defeated Shelton Benjamin for the United States championship

On Smackdown, MVP's super losing streak was definately over as he earned a title shot against the U.S. Champ Shelton Benjamin at Wrestlemania. MVP certainly proved why he is Smackdowns most valuble player by winning the US title once again in a spectacular match for the title.

Chris Jericho defeated CM Punk for the WWE Intercontinental Title

The WWE Intercontinental title had not been defended at Wrestlemania in a few years now, and the champion CM Punk was without a match. He decided since there was no money in the bank match this year he wanted to bring prestige back to the title so he welcomed all incoming challengers.

This prompted the slammy award winning superstar of '08 Chris Jericho to challenge CM Punk to face the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. CM Punk of course accepted but lost to Chris Jericho at WM, in which he became a 9 Time IC Champion.

Beth Pheonix defeated Mickie James, Maryse and Kelly Kelly for the Womens Title.

Standard womans match, the Glamazon recaptured the WWE Womens championship.

Kane defeated Rey Mysterio in an inferno match

After weeks of attacks on Rey Mysterio by Kane, Mysterio could only find one way to defend himself against Kane, and that was to fight fire with fire.

So one night on RAW, Mysterio actully set a trap for Kane. Kane was pursuing Mysterio through the halls when Rey led him into a mysterious room. However once Kane entered, Mysterio was no where to be found, the door slammed shut behind him and the room lit on fire.

Kane's screams of agony and pain could be hear from within the room while Rey watched on from the outside in horror of what he just did. The week before WM, Kane showed up on RAW, once again wearing the mask that be brought with him to the WWE, claiming to have been burned beyond recognition because of Mysterios fire.

He said at WM, since Mysterio loved to play with fire so much, he would introduce him first hand in an INFERNO MATCH. Kane went on to win the match after setting Mysterios back on fire. After the match Kane tried to remove Mysterios mask and put his face in the fire, but Rey escaped before any more damage could be done.

Edge defeated Christian

Upon Christians return to the WWE he was on ECW fighting for the ECW championship. He then realized someone over on SD! had to be taught a lesson, and that was his brother Edge. Christian said he was sick and tired of seeing Edge slime his way to a victory every week, and that by doing so, became a world champion many times over.

Christian said his success is half his, and he deserves some respect from his brother and former tag partner. So he was challenged to a match at WM, which Edge came out on top of in a great battle.

The Undertaker defeated Mark Henry in a hell in the cell match

For weeks, Tony Atlas had been filling Mark Henrys head with the promise that The Undertakers win over him at past Wrestlemanias had been nothing more than a fluke. And that no one could beat the worlds strongest man on the grandest stage of them all for a second time.

This filled Mark Henrys head with so much confidence, that on an episode of SD!, Mark Henry delivered the Worlds Strongest Slam to the deadman off the stage on to countless numbers of production equipment. Everyone thought the Undertaker was down and out and Mark Henry went around the next couple of weeks declaring that we would never see the Undertaker again and that it was now his yard.

That is until, a few weeks before WM we began getting a tease that the Undertaker would be returning. The week before WM, The Undertaker returned, delivered a huge chokeslam to Mark Henry and told him they would be battling once more at Wrestlemania, this time in a Hell In A Cell match. The Undertaker won the grueling match to further extend his undefeated streak.

Jeff Hardy deafeated Matt Hardy

In a match of total jealousy, Jeff Hardy defeated his older brother Matt. Extracting months of hatred after being cost the WWE Title at the hands of his own flesh and blood.

Shawn Michaels defeated Santino Marella

Santino Marella had come out on RAW each and every single week saying how he was the greatest superstar in the WWE, that no one could touch him, not the Nature Boy Ric Flair, not the Immortal Hulk Hogan, no one. This prompted HBK Shawn Michaels to remind Santino that he left one name off that list, the Showstopper Shawn Michaels.

Santino then challenged Michaels to a match at Wrestlemania insisting that he would become the new main event, and that after that match everyone would be calling him the showstopper.

HBK went on to win the hard fought match against a surprisingly tough Santino Marella. Once again proving why he is Mr. Wrestlemania.

John Cena defeated William Regal for the World Heavyweight Championship

The WWE board of directors determind that Edge holding the World Heavyweight title and being a SD! superstar just could not stand, so they stripped him of the title and told him he would have to compete for the WWE championship.

This led to a tournament on RAW to determine what two men would fight for the Championship at Wrestlemania. John Cena defeated Randy Orton on his end of the bracket to advance. Where afterward Randy Orton punted the ref in the head causing the WWE to suspend him. (was actually serving a 28 day suspension for hard drug use).

William Regal beat JBL on his end to advance to the match at WM. John Cena won the match, which William Reagal made great with his superb technical wrestling.

Triple H defeated Big Show to retain the WWE Championship

After Edge was stripped of the World Heavyweight title, Vickie Guerrero instantly made him the number one contender to HHH's title at WM. Much to the disdain of the Big Show. The Big Show told Vickie he would do everything in his power to be in that WM main even for the title.

For weeks he intimidated Vickie and Edge until finally, he caught Edge in a situation where he could seriously injure him which caused Vickie to reverse her decision and make the match at WM Big Show Vs. HHH. This infuriated Edge and he berated Vickie Guerrero and had to settle for a match against Christian.

At WM, HHH won a hard fought match at WM to retain his title but the fans could tell this feud was far from over.

To me, Wrestlemania had been a success. It served its purpose and was entertaining for the most part. Up next is the Backlash recap and the storyline purposes for those matches to get everyone caught up to speed...

Ted Dibiase Vs. Jim Duggan

Easy pick.

JBL Vs. Charlie Hass

Another easy pick, although I will beg you to push Haas soon.

Chris Jericho and Santino Marella Vs. CM Punk and DH Smith

As far as a tough Santino goes, it would seem like a two on one match for Jericho with the combined might of CM Punk and DH Smith.

William Regal Vs. Shad

You already had William Regal headline a WM, so I assume his push his far from over.

Cody Rhodes Vs. Kofi Kingston

I hate voting against an old friend of mine, but he is facing one half of the tag team champs.

Beth Pheonix Vs. Mickie James

Too dominant to lose here.

John Cena Vs. Shawn Michaels: World Heavyweight Championship

Too soon to lose the title, unless you plan on tossing on anyone like the WWE did with Batista/Jericho/CM Punk etc., etc. . . .

KUTGW!!
