72,744 fans filled the Reliant Stadium for a very, very special event in the WWE's history. The 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania. Wrestlemania had made the WWE. In 1985, Vince McMahon Jr. gambled everyting he had on one huge event, to be held in Madison Square Garden, a place where his father had run the then WWWF for years, until his son bought the WWWF from him. McMahon Jr, however, had a different perspective on how to run a wrestling company. He wanted to take the newly named WWF National. He forgot about Territories, a move which upset a lot of old-school promoters and wrestlers. McMahon also raided the smaller promotions talent, which he was laughed at for overspending. McMahon got the last laugh though, as the other promotions found themself without any star power, and usually, out of buisness. Which brings us back to Wrestlemania. McMahon wanted to combine his newfound stars with the World of Celebrities, a vision he called 'Sports Entertainment.' It was upon Sports Entertainment was built, and still stands on today. It was easy to see the success of the first Wrestlemania - It catapulted the WWE into the Mainstream, and kicked off the 1980's Wrestling Boom, making the WWE the top promotion in the world, surpassing Giant Baba's All Japan Pro Wrestling Promotion, Antonio Inoki's New Japan Pro Wrestling, Jim Crockett Jr's Mid Atlantic, The Gagne's AWA, and Fritz Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling. Now, 25 Wrestlemania's later, the WWE still sits on top of the wrestling world. Was Wrestlemania XXV a success? In some ways, yes, in some ways, no. The Main Event of Randy Orton vs. Triple H dissapointed the majority of fans, and some also felt a little underwhelmed by the much hyped Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy match. But, on the other hand, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, two men who play a pivotal role in the History of Wrestlemania, tore the house down in a 30-Minute Classic. Also, this Wrestlemania broke the record for the Highest Grossing PPV in WWE History, taking $6.9 Million Dollars in Ticket Sales. The Question is, where do WWE go from here?
