Combat Zone Wrestling: Regaining The Top Spot On The Indy Scene

Back in 2005 Combat Zone Wrestling was a standout promotion on the American indy scene. Kevin Steen, El Generico, Super Dragon, Chris Hero, Eddie Kingston, Claudio Castagnoli, CZW truly was one of the top promotions in the country putting on stellar shows and drawing record crowds. However after less and less money coming in for the shows, CZW was forced to cut back on it's "fly in" talent and use more local, home grown talent. This in turn led to poor attendance to the shows, which in turn led to less money coming in, which led to poor shows and weaker talent. The fans of CZW were departing, criticizing the company on bad show after bad show, and with promotions such as Chikara, Ring of Honor, IWA Mid-South, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla gaining in popularity, CZW seemed to have been left behind. And with the decline in America's economical stature, the road back to the top has only gotten longer and longer.

The goal is simple, it is the goal of any company in a struggling economy, wrestling or otherwise. It is survival. To make money. To once again be among America's top promotions and to draw record breaking crowds.

As it stands, CZW is currently the #6 Indy in America behind IWA Mid-South, Shimmer, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Chikara, and Ring of Honor.

CZW currently has a working agreement with IWS in Canada and wXw in Germany.

There is currently hostility with Ring of Honor, and IWA Mid-South.

4. Jr. Heavyweight Title Match: Ryan McBride vs. Egotistico Fantastico went to a no contest after Ryan McBride seperated his shoulder during the match and the referee did not allow McBride to continue.
5. LJ Cruz & Alex Colon beat The Blkout
6. Tag Team Title Match: The Best Around vs. Team AnDrew went to a no contest after the H8 Club attacked both teams.
- Nick Gage demanded glass and barbed wire boards be placed into the ring
7. Eye for an Eye I Quit Match: Nick Gage beat Deranged by pouring lighter fluid all over him, forcing Deranged to quit
- after the math, John Zandig then made the announcement that at this year's Tournament of Death, Nick Gage will face Deranged in the first round in a "Fire Deathmatch"
8. Sami Callihan & Jon Moxley beat Brain Damage & Drake Younger after Drake was distracted by an unidentified individual with a bandana covering his face, wielding a chainsaw appeared in the entrance area.
- After the match, Sami got on the microphone and ran down CZW, and proclaimed his title to be the "New Horror Title". The lights then went out once again and when they came back, TRENT ACID was standing behind Sami and buried him with a Yakuza kick. He then nailed Drake with a Yakuza Kick as well. He proclaimed that theres one thing hes never accomplished in wrestling, said that's holding the World Title in the CZW Arena

News and Notes for May 2009

** Tournament of Death VIII and Best of the Best 9 have both been scheduled for next month in June. TOD will be the first saturday of June while BOTB will be held on the second. Both will be 12 man tournaments with the brackets being held a little differently. TOD will be singles matches throughout the first and semi-final rounds, leading up to a 3 way elimination final. BOTB will be triple threat single elimination matches in the first round with the semi-finals and finals being singles matches.
** Jr. Heavyweight Champion Ryan McBride will be out for the May show after the injury he sustained involving his shoulder. CZW will not strip him of the title and on the may show there will be a 5 way arial assault match, the winner will revieve a Jr. Heavyweight title shot at Tournament of Death. The reigning Jr. Heavyweight Champion will automatically be intered into Best of the Best.
** Trent Acid after his suprise return to CZW has instantly challenged Drake Younger to defend his CZW Championship in May. Acid's long reputation with the company could instantly put him in line for a title shot, though it has not yet been decided if the championship will be on the line.
** Team AnDrew have stated they are furious with the H8 Club after costing them their chance at the Tag Team titles and have challenged Nick Gage and Nate Hatred to a match in May. Though Team AnDrew are former tag champions themselves, this is probably not the best idea the two could have come up with.

The H8 Club vs. Cult Fiction
Cult Fiction beat The H8 Club after manager interference from Billy Gram. The four men battled all over the arena going through the crowd and even outside the building! When the match was over Cult Fiction beat down The H8 Club and started to pour lighter fluid on both men just as Nick Gage did to Deranged last month. Just as they were about to light a match, the music of John Zandig hit! Zandig came out to make the save for Hatred and Gage, then got on the mic and told them that not only would Gage and Deranged still have their Fire Deathmatch next month at TOD, but that Nate Hatred AND Brain Damage would also be entered making it a Tag Team Fire Deathmatch in the first round, with both members of the winning team advancing in the tournament.

hard drive went out on my computer last night. my friend is giving me a linnux boot disk that will get my computer running just long enough to get all my TEW files over to an external hard drive, then i just gotta unlicense my game and move it onto my laptop and everything should be good to go. sucks cuz my hard drive went out the second i was about to move everything over just in case. how messed up is that? anyway, give me a day or two and I should be able to pick this up where i left off.
