"For the love of God, we need some help out here!" Screamed Mike Tenay. Jonny Fairplay, sitting next to him, was stunned silent, possibly the first time he hadn't had something to say. He finally muttered softly," I don't think there is anyone left Mike." I watched from the back on the monitors and immediately regretted yet another of my decisions since I took over TNA wrestling from Panda Enegy and the Jarretts. The ring was starting to look like the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan. There were the bodies of some of the best TNA had to offer bloodied and battered all over the place. Ron Killings, BG James, Brother Devon, Jeff Hardy, and others lie unconscious while poor A.J. Styles still remains trapped in the deadly Copani Clutch, blood trickling from his mouth and his eyes glazed over as Drew Martin stands over him cackling in glee. Finally The Second Coming releases A.J. and took the microphone from Martin. "I told you this is what would happen. I told you that The Redeemers were going to destroy this infernal business and maybe now you'll start to pay attention to us." Mark Copani had seemed like a nice kid when I met with him to discuss a contract. He had gotten a *ahem* RAW deal up north and seemed eager to get his career back on the right path. Obviously he had no interest in continuing the ill-conceived Muhammed Hassan character, especially since he was no more Arabic than I was. He had received a lot of promises from Mr. McMahon but lost his job when Vince chose to rely on old stereotypes and cliches and then bailed on the character completely when he got some heat from the media. " All I want to do is compete Mr. N. You have some of the best athletes in the world here and I want the fans to see the REAL Mark Copani." It seemed like a win-win propostion for me. What could go wrong with adding an eager young kid with talent in the ring and skill on the mic? I had taken over TNA in October of 2005 after a series of shrewd financial investments led to an absolute windfall for me. JBL's book on money was an absolute Godsend and by following his advice, my net worth skyrocketed to the point where I was secure for life and could buy myself a fun toy to play with, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. After reaching an agreement with Panda Energy and the Jarretts, I took control of the business and almost immediately things started going downhill. I lost our deal with Spike TV after accidentially spilling coffee on one of their executives in a meeting. It certainly had NOTHING to do with the poor ratings the show was getting. Then we lost our deals with 2 of 3 major PPV carriers we had be dealing with. They said that we had "low buy rates". I think it had to do more with their system of measuring the viewership but that's just me. I did manage to continue to do one thing well, make money. TNA had under a million in the bank when I arrived but now thanks to me taking the product on the road throughout the Southeast, we started doing some good business on our tapings for Xplosion and for our PPV's. I decided to reward the fans by bringing in some new blood to spice up the shows. Against the advice of everyone on the booking committee, I brought in "The Wildcard" Teddy Hart. I figured adding a little tension to the show would be a good thing and if he really got out of hand, Samoa Joe could beat the crap out of him. Team 3D left as quickly as they arrived as Brother Ray signed a long term deal with All Japan and left the company the day before our Victory Road PPV. Brother Devon has stuck around for a while though and is enjoyinig some success on his own. Masato Tanaka arrived shortly afterwards and had some excellent violent matches with Samoa Joe. Lastly I brought in Rikishi Fatu as a surprise partner for A.J. in a match against Joe and Jeff Jarrett. I was trying not to bring in too many former WWE guys since I wanted to develop our own personality but seeing the reaction he got from the fans led me to make an awful company changing decision.

The ink on the contract was barely dry when Mark Copani said to me, "You know I have some friends who are no longer with the WWE who might be assets to this company. I can give them a call if you'd like boss?" My gut was telling me to pass on bringing in more WWE guys but then again if they were as professional as Mark had been, I figured I had nothing to lose. I told him to give them my cell phone number and we could talk some business. Within a couple of days, Andrew Martin, formally Test and Nora Greenwald, formally Molly Holly had joined TNA. Martin was released while rehabbing an injury while Nora left the company mostly due to the content of their programing conflicting with her personal views. They were both extremely nice and I welcomed them to TNA with open arms. I told them all to go meet with Raven, Shane, Jeff and the rest of the booking committee so we could start to work on an exciting way to bring them into the fold. Curiously, they declined, saying they didn't want any special treatment and just wanted to blend in. Mark told me he had worked on a brief video for his debut and asked me if we could play it during the next episode of Xplosion and then he would wrestle the following week. Martin and Nora would come into the company after that. If I had been a little more saavy, I would have had someone check out the contents of that tape before I agreed to this all, although even if I had, I still doubt any of us would have had any idea of what was to come. NEXT SHOW: TNA XPlosion taped at the University of Central Florida Arena. NWA Heavyweight Champion: A.J. Styles (won from Jeff Jarrett) TNA X-Division Champion: Austin Aries (won from A.J. Styles) NWA Tag Team Champions: The Naturals (won from the SAT)

"We're here at the UCF Arena, home of the Central Florida Black Knights and tonight home of Total Non Stop Action Xplosion! I'm Mike Tenay and I'm joined as always by Jonny Fairplay." "That's right Mikey and what a show we have for you folks tonight. You will see the NWA World Champion A.J. Styles taking on the TNA X-Division Champion Austin Aries. Aries has beaten Styles before Mikey and tonight I think he's going to do it again." "Aries is the man who ended Styles reign atop the X-Division and you're right Jonny, he represents a huge obstacle for Styles tonight especially if the enchanting Traci Brooks has anything to say about it. In addition, we're going to see Jeff Jarrett and Raven, one on one, one more time." "Its an understatement to say these two don't like each other Mikey. This battle has been raging on and off for over two years now with no end in sight. Needless to say it should be a war tonight." "And finally there will be a 20 Man Over the Top Rope Invitational Battle Royale to determined the brand new number one contender and the man who will face A.J. Styles at Victory Ro.." "Or Austin Aries! I think Austin Aries is walking out of here as the World champion. Don't you forget that Tenay!" "That is an excellent point Jonny. But we know this, whoever wins this battle royale will have EARNED that shot at Victory Road. The competitors read like a who's who of TNA. Listen to this Jonny. We're going to see the monster Abyss with his devious manager the Sinister Minister. The Alpha Male Monty Brown, The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe, The James Gang, Kip and BG, Masato Tanaka and more." "Don't forget for a minute that the Fallen Angel is going to be in there. You can't count someone as talented as him out for a second." "Absolutely! All this and more tonight on Total Non Stop Action Xplosion! You don't want to miss a second!" "Austin Aries! You heard it here first peoples!" CUTS TO OPENING MONTAGE AND CREDITS

In dark matches: Bobby Roode defeated Cassidy Riley (C) Lance Hoyt crushed Lex Lovett (C) Sonny Siaki was interviewed by Shane Douglas and told the crowd that he got an invite to the battle royale and was looking to take the whole damn thing. (B) In the first match of the night, Matt Bentley and Alex Shelley defeated The Naturals in a non-title match to earn a title shot at Victory Road when Traci tripped up Chase Stevens and Alex Shelley quickly rolled him up and held the tights for good measure. (C+) After everyone had went to the back, the lights went out and Mark's video played. "THE SECOND COMING OF MARK COPANI IS UPON US. REDEMPTION IS AT HAND!" "What the hell does that mean Mikey? Who is Mark Copani and who is he redeeming?" asked a befuddled Jonny Fairplay. "Mark Copani is a very talented young wrestler who I have learned has just come to terms with TNA. I imagine he wants to redeem himself following a very controversial stint up north. I believe that we'll be seeing him very soon!" Backstage I go over to Mark to talk. "What was that video all about?" "Don't worry boss. I'm just trying to get the crowd talking. A little juice never hurts the show." My cell phone rings and I excuse myself from Mark. I'm still in the talent acquisition mode and I'm on the verge of bringing in a legend to be the "new sheriff in town" and hopefully help keep some order in place. The next match was the Twenty Man Over the Top Rope Invitational Battle Royale to determine the new number one contender to the NWA World Heavyweight championship. The participants are Abyss, BG James, Brother Devon, Wildcat Chris Harris, Cowboy James Storm, Chris Sabin, Jeff Hardy, Jushin Thunder Lyger, Kip James, Masato Tanaka, Monty Brown, Rhino, Rikishi Fatu, Ron The Truth Killings, Sabu, Samoa Joe, Simon Diamond, Sonny Siaki, The Wildcard Teddy Hart, and the Fallen Angel. Monty Brown dominates the match, eliminating eight other men but finally is tossed out himself by the James Gang. The match end with Samoa Joe rendering Kip James unconscious before tossing his lifeless body out of the ring. Samoa Joe is the new number one contender! (B+) We cut to Shane Douglas interviewing Jeff Jarrett backstage. " You know Franchise, this piece of garbage Raven has been a thorn in the King of the Mountain's side for too long now. Raven started this. Tonight I'm going to end this once and for all so I can get back to what's important, getting my NWA World title back. Of course that's assuming there's anything left of "the champ" when Samoa Joe is done with him! (Jarrett cackles) So back to business, Raven, your time is up buddy!" "You heard it here it guys, that's the exclusive from the Franchise. Back to you!" (B+) Jarrett enters the ring first flanked by AMW. Raven comes out of the crowd and proceeds to beat the holy hell out of AMW with a singapore cane before turning his attention to Jarrett who waffles him with a guitar shot. The two continue to brawl around ringside until they're battered and bloodied. This match is over before it ever really begins as referee Andrew Thomas calls for the Double DQ (B) After that mess of a brawl, I think things are starting to get out of control. Hopefully these negotations with my new "sherrif" come together quickly. We're supposed to meet early next week. Backstage A.J. is warming up. BG James is helping Kip to the back but stops to wish the champ good luck which he accepts. (B) NWA World Champion A.J. Styles defeats X-Division champion Austin Aries with Styles Clash despite attempts at interference by Traci. About halfway through the match, Samoa Joe comes out of the tunnel to watch the rest of the match. After A.J. wins, Joe claps very slowly and then walks to the back, leaving A.J. to celebrate in the ring (B) END OF SHOW

Credit: Wade Keller, Pro Wrestling Torch "According to my sources, TNA Owner Mr. Nelson has been reaching out to a legend of wrestling to come in as a "trouble-shooting official". Supposedly the man he has been speaking to is a former World champion and a renowned "tough guy". Unconfirmed reports have mentioned Harley Race, Ronnie Garvin and Ron Simmons. More on this story as it develops."

So after my successful negotiations with my new "troubleshooter", I turned my attention once again to Mark Copani. I had taken a real shine to the kid and he met me a local sports bar to discuss his debut. I felt like things were finally going my way, that I had signed a future World champion and superstar right out from under their noses up north. "Who do you want your first match to be against Mark and don't say A.J. or Austin.", I laughed. " Perhaps we can start you off slow with Jerelle or Cassidy just so you can get your feet wet?" " I was hoping for something a little more exciting boss." said Copani between bites of Max's Spicy Wings. " Geez, are these hot or what?" "Max only knows one way to cook these things, NUCLEAR!" "So I was hoping maybe to get my start maybe against someone a little higher up the card, like Siaki or Hoyt." I was caught a little off-guard. I had assumed Mark would want to be coming in as a babyface but apparantly I was wrong. He could read the bewilderment on my face. "Boss...you KNOW they're not going to cheer me, at least not right away. I figured we could give some of these guys the rub from working with someone the audience hates and I can work on winning them over slowly. If we try to force me as a good guy down their throats, they'll reject it. I'm sure I can win them over in good time." He had a good sense for the business. I was so concerned with creating the NEXT...next big thing that I forgot basic principles of the business. Mark was right and I quickly agreed to a match with Mark and Sonny Siaki for this week's episode of Xplosion. We finished up our lunch and Mark even offered to pick up the bill. I didn't let him of course. Hell, this was a business lunch and a tax write-off! I appreicated the gesture though. What a great kid! As we were leaving, my cell phone rang and I excused myself from Mark again. "Hey big guy! Yeah I'm pretty excited too. I was going to call you today too to discuss your role at Victory Road. Let me call you when I get back to my office so we can go over the details." NEXT SHOW: TNA XPlosion taped at Coral Gables, on the campus of the University of Miami NWA Heavyweight Champion: A.J. "This is Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling Xplosion at the Miami Convocation Center in Coral Gables, Florida on the campus of the University of Miami and this place is packed to the rafters! I'm Mike Tenay and I'm joined once again by the irrespressible Jonny Fairplay." "Irrespressible? I'm going to have to look that one up Mikey. But there is one thing I'm certain of and that is the fact that we have GREAT main event for you tonight. You will see the Phenomenal A.J. Styles defend the NWA World heavyweight championship against the man with ALL the stroke around here, former champion Jeff Jarrett!" "That's right Jonny! With under two weeks to go until our next big PPV event, Jeff Jarrett has pulled some strings to get this shot and is looking to take an early trip on the Victory Road to regain the World title." "In addition Mikey you will see Samoa Joe against Rikishi, the monster Abyss one on one with BG James, and you will see the debut of Mark Copani against Sonny Siaki. You not going to want to miss a second of Xplosion Mikey!" "I agree! So put down that remote, sit down, relax, and prepare for an hour of TOTAL NON-STOP ACTION!" "Plus some great commercials for products you should definately buy!" "Do you ALWAYS have to get the last word in?" "Yes!" CUTS TO OPENING MONTAGE AND CREDITS

Traci comes out at this point and tells them that the win was no fluke and that the Young and the Reckless would be riding the Victory Road very soon. Bentley and Shelley appear out of nowhere to ambush the Naturals but quickly lose the element of surprise and are run off once Chase Stevens grabs a chair from ringside. Jarrett and Raven are about to kill each other as the locker room empties and keeps them separated before violence can ensure. Jarrett is bright red, kicking and screaming obsenities at Raven. Raven isn't putting up much resistance, but yells at Jarrett ," The day of vengeance is at hand. Quote the Raven, nevermore." and then slides out of the ring while Jarrett continues to fume. OPENING MONTAGE AND CREDITS "You are looking live at the jam-packed TD Waterhouse Centre, home of the NBA's Orlando Magic, in beautiful Orlando, Florida. I'm your host, Mike Tenay and I'm joined, once again, by the outspoken Jonny Fairplay. This is the the big one folks, Victory Road." "That's right Mikey. All roads lead to Orlando tonight because everyone is here to see the amazing double main event! You will see what should be the final battle between "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett and his arch-nemesis, the unpredictable Raven in a Last Man Standing match. Someone's getting hurt and hurt bad Mikey. I don't think either man will ever be the same after this!" "That's an excellent point Jonny. This war has be raging seemingly since Raven arrived here in TNA. Raven thought his destiny was to be the NWA Champion. Now he believes his destiny is to destroy Jeff Jarrett, once and for all." "And let's not forget the other huge main event Mikey, A.J. Styles defending the NWA Heavyweight Championship against the undefeated Samoan Submission Machine, Samoa Joe! That one should be a classic." "I agree Jonny. Since our inception, A.J. Styles has been the face of TNA wrestling, voted Mr. TNA by the fans, two years running. He has dominated every aspect of this company but I don't think he's ever faced a man like Samoa Joe before. Joe has dominated the competition since arriving here in TNA before ultimately tearing through the #1 contender's battle royale on TNA Xplosion, eliminating six men on his way to an impressive victory. I'm hard pressed to pick a winner in this one." "Well I'm not afraid to say it Mikey. Samoa Joe will be leaving Orlando as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He's too much of a monster for A.J. on this night I think." "You might be right Jonny. We will find out tonight if that's the case. In addition there are several other high profile matches scheduled tonight including The Fallen Angel going one on one with the Japanese legend, Jushin Thunder Lyger, NWA World tag Team Champions defending their belts against the team of Matt Bentley and Alex Shelley with Traci Brooks representing the Young and the Reckless." "And speaking of the Young and the Reckless, you'll also see X-Division champion Austin Aries defending that title in an Ultimate X match against Chris Sabin and that glow in the dark freak Jeff Hardy! I look for Aries to hold onto his crown as the ruler of the X-Division." "And don't forget, rumors are swirling throughout the wrestling world about TNA management appointing a new "Troubleshooting" official tonight. You've all heard the names that are being discussed. Tonight, we will find out who this legend is." "I have it on good authority Mikey that is going to be none other than one of the great World Champions of all time, George Hackenschmidt! You heard it here first peoples!" "Um....Jonny....George Hackenschmidt has been dead for almost FORTY years." "That's the shocker Mikey. NO ONE is going to see this coming!" "Um...yeah..alright...Let's throw it to JB in the ring before Jonny comes up with any more 'exclusives'." "Hackenschmidt!" START OF THE SHOW

In the first match of the night, Austin Aries retained his X-Division championship in a somewhat sloppy Ultimate X match over Chris Sabin and Jeff Hardy (C+) Shane Douglas interviewed Ron "The Truth" Killings. I'm not even going to attempt transcribe what Killings said. Something about kicking Simon Diamond's butt I think. (B) The Truth defeated Simon Diamond with his new finisher, The Moment of Truth, a swinging full nelson bomb. (B) Killings goes into the crowd the celebrate with the fans (B-) The Second Coming Mark Copani dominates Lance Hoyt, pinning him in under 3 minutes with the Finishing Touch. (C+) Copani offers his traditional handshake to Hoyt with is accepted. The crowd is starting to come around on Copani which makes me happy(B-) Proving the theory that one good squash deserves another, Monty Brown crushed Brother Devon with the Pounce. (C+) The James Gang defeated America's Most Wanted when referee Andrew Thomas DQ'd Storm for using his belt to whip BG James (C+) The Naturals are being interviewed by Jeremy Borash but get ambushed by the Young and the Reckless. The traditional beatdown follows and Jonny Fairplay speculates how this will affect the title match later tonight. (C+) Abyss defeated Rikishi Fatu with the Black Hole Slam following interference by the Sinister Minister. (B-) Abyss and the Sinister Minister continue the onslaught on Rikishi after the bell until Andrew Martin, formally Test in the WWE runs out from the back to save him. Rikishi and Martin run off Abyss and the Minister and then get a little jiggy to the enjoyment of the crowd (B) The Naturals retain their NWA World Tag Team titles by defeating Matt Bentley and Alex Shelley due to a surprise distraction by... Carmen Electra (WTF?) which enables Douglas to roll up Bentley for the win. (B-) Masato Tanaka defeated Rhino in a hardcore match following the Roaring Elbow (B-) The Fallen Angel is interviewed by Jeremy Borash. He threatens Lyger first in english and then in japanese. Borash flubs his lines and the crowds strongly turns against him. (C-) The Fallen Angel pins Jushin Thunder Lyger following the greco-roman nut shot. The crowd was still in a restless mood following the brutal Jeremy Borash interview but Daniels and Lyger did all the could to fix that (B) Shane Douglas is standing in the middle of the ring with a microphone. "TNA management has asked me to come out here tonight to make this very special announcement. With tensions rising here in TNA, management has brought in a legend, a former World champion to help lay down the law and order. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to present our new Troubleshooter......The Bad Man from Borger, Texas himself......Stan "The Lariat" Hansen!" "Stan Hansen? What happened to Hackenschmidt? My sources told me that he was signed, sealed and delivered." "I can't believe this Jonny. TNA management has outdone itself. No one saw this coming. Stan Hansen is a former AWA World Champion having beaten Rick Martel for that title back in I believe 1985, back when that title was relevent! This is one of the toughest men this sport has ever seen, the man who broke Bruno Sammartino's neck! He is a legend throughout the world and revered as a wrestling god in Japan where he has held too many titles to count!" Hansen's music hits, "A Little Less Talk And A Lot More Action" by Toby Keith. He is dressed in an expensive looking suit although doesn't seem entirely comfortable in it. He's still wearing his cowboy hat and carries his trademark bullrope with a cowbell on it. There is no sign of chewing tobacco...yet. Hansen flashes the longhorns to the crowd and gets a big pop. The Lariat climbs in the ring and shakes hands with Shane Douglas. "Wecome aboard Mister Hansen." "Mister Hansen's my pappy, son and god rest his soul, he ain't been with us for a long time. I'm just Stan Hansen and I'm thrilled to be here Franchise! You know Mr. Nelson called me a few weeks back saying things have been getting more and more out of control here in TNA. Told me he needed himself a Sheriff to preserve the order round these parts. I told him I ain't never been no good guy. I'm more of a black hat myself but this chance was too good to pass up. Too many of these young bucks are lackin' discipline and direction and I'm just the man to give it to em. So everyone best get on notice and keep your noses clean, the Lariat is in town and he's got the one thing this sport needs....*flashes the bullrope*...MORE COWBELL!" (B+) The Graphic for the Jarrett- Raven match flashes that it is next! (B) Jeff Jarrett is being interviewed by Jeremy Borash. "Stan Hansen? That dinosaur is the best they could dig up? Stan Hansen is no cowboy! The closest he's ever come to being a cowboy is the time he took a dump at an Arby's! That fossil best keep his nose and his cowbell out of my business! And right now my business is you Raven. After three years its come down to this, Last Man Standing. You say your destiny is to destroy me? Well Jeff Jarrett doesn't deal in destinies and fate. He deals in facts and the fact is that I've been the King of the Mountain around this parts since day one and no one, not you, not A.J. Styles, not Samoa Joe, and not Stan Hansen is going to stop me from climbing back up to the top of the mountain yet again. You're a speed bump Raven, a nuisance that I've allowed to stick around for too long. Tonight...its over!" *This segment was once again ruined by the brutal mic work of Jeremy Borash. We're going to have to replace him real soon!* (B-) Raven is being interviewed by Shane Douglas. "Raven, you've heard what Jeff Jarrett has had to say about you. What are you thinking just moments before maybe the biggest match of your career?" "The biggest match of my career Shane? I've had the biggest match of my career many times. Wars against Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Terry Funk and too many others to count. All the blood that was spilled and all the bones that were broken before mean nothing compared to this. I exist only to destroy Jeff Jarrett now. Our destinies have become entangled to the point that only one of us can survive. You were about one thing Jarrett...tonight...here in Orlando...IT IS OVER! Quote the Raven....Nevermore." (B) In the Last Man Standing match, Jarrett and Raven battled all throughout the building. Raven survived attacks from America's Most Wanted until they were run off by the James Gang. After about 20 minutes of brawling, a battered and bloodied Jarrett kabonged Raven with his guitar at the exact time that Raven bashed his skull in with a brutally stiff Singapore Cane shot. Both men hit the ground, completely lifeless. The referee counts to ten. He could have counted to a hundred. The match ends in a double knockout. Both men are stretchered out and taken to the local hospital. (B) The graphic for A.J. Styles-Samoa Joe is displayed (B-) The camera catches A.J. stretching out before finally heading to the ring (B-) A.J. Styles defeats Samoa Joe by bridging himself into a pinning position while Joe has one of his submissions locked in, essentially pinning himself. (B) After the match, Joe walks over to an exhausted Styles, looking like he's ready to flatten him, but offers his hand in a sign of respect which A.J. accepts. (B-) END OF SHOW

"Great job guys. I propose a toast...To my crew, for all their hard work tonight!" "Here! Here!" everyone said as seven glasses clinked. About three hours after Victory Road, I continued the post-PPV tradition I had started a few months earlier, namely taking the boys out for a big meal at Pisano's to thank them for their hard work. We're a few bottles of vino and several antipastos into our tradition already. I was joined tonight by my top road agent, Arn Anderson, Shane Douglas, our new Troubleshooter, Stan Hansen, referee Rudy Charles, "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, lead announcer Mike Tenay, and my good friend, assistant, and drinking buddy, Big Stein. I was pleased with how most things turned out tonight. I think we put on a real good show for the crowd although there was definately some room for improvement. My personal ego had hurt us again since booking the TD Waterhouse Centre was my idea. My team had told me to book a slightly smaller venue but I went ahead with my plan. We wound up only drawing about 2/3 of the capacity of the arena. A very respectable crowd, but everyone involved was still disappointed. One thing that was very clear to us all though was that Jeremy Borash had made us look very small time by butchering not one but two interview segments. The crowd was really turned off by that. Jimmy Hart volunteered to help Shane with interviews for the time being until we could find some to replace JB on a more permanent basis. Borash is a good kid and I'll still find a role for him in the company but I think I'm in the market for some new blood. We wound up eating, drinking and talking until well into the morning. I was happy with how this last PPV went and was sure better days were ahead of us.
