Friday Thunder (Firday, Week 1, September 2009) - Boardwalk Hall (Tri-State) in front of 9,513 fans.

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=wcw-2.gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/wcw-2.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Before the show starts a video is shown of WCW Champion CM Punk beating Edge for the title at Summerslam. Punk had previously cashed his MITB title shot in against Edge at The Great American Bash after challenging Edge a month before on Smackdown, Edge cheated to win at GAB, but Punk was given a rematch by Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long. Tonight CM Punk will defend the title against Edge in a rematch. Segment Rating A

The show opens with a massive pyro technical display to greet the fans for the first time to the newly rebranded World Championship Wrestling.

Teddy Long comes out to the ring to welcome fans to the show. He speaks about how proud he is to be the general manager of World Championship Wrestling, he mentions his stint with WCW in the early nineties as a referee and manager, and says he's very proud that the promotion has been resurrected.

Long then announces that in order to find a number one contender for the WCW World Championship we will see Christian vs Chris Jericho and Undertaker vs MVP tonight. The winners will face off next week, and the winner of that match will face off against either Punk or Edge for the title at Fall Brawl on the 4th week of September. Segment Rating B

Shelton Benjamin and Dolph Zigger defeated Rey Mysterio and John Morrison in 13:21.

A faced paced match as you would expect from the competitors involved. The finish came when Benjamin got the pin on Mysterio after a Pay Dirt. The match was hurt by the bad chemistry between Benjamin and Ziggler. Match Rating C

After the match Shelton Benjamin mocks the downed Rey Mysterio. Segment Rating B-

Backstage Chris Jericho cuts a promo, he talks about the original WCW and how he left because the company was run by incompitant fools, the same as it is today. He chastises Teddy Long for making him compete to become number one contender citing the fact that as he was the final WCW Champion, is a five time World Champion, is the only man to beat The Rock and Steve Austin in one night and the face of the company, he and he alone should automatically be given a title shot. His says he will destroy Christian tonight. Segment Rating A

Paul Burchill defeated Jimmy Wang Yang in 4:43 after a Curb Stomp.

Paul Burchill and Jimmy Wang Yang just don't click at all, and it showed in their performances. Match Rating D-

Edge is in the ring, he swears that he will beat Punk and regain his title tonight. He calls Punks title win a fluke and says that he isn't fit to be the face of the company. Segment Rating B+

Chris Jericho defeated Christian in 17:25 after a Code Breaker.

A great match, both wrestlers really showed their worth in this match. Christian looked strong despite the loss, particularly after refusing to quit to the Walls of Jericho, and nearly getting the win himself after hitting a Kill Switch from nowhere. Jericho wins after dodging a Frog Splash and hitting a prone Christian with the Code Breaker. Match Rating B+

After the match Jericho celebrates in the ring, mocking the fallen Christian and making the belt gesture. Segment Rating B+

Cryme Tyme are backstage hitting on Natalie Neidhart who seems quite susceptible to their charms until they are met by The Stampede Bulldogs (Harry Smith and Tyson Kidd). The Bulldogs tell them they'd better be more concerned about the in ring talent than the female talent and challenge them to a match on next weeks show. Cryme Tyme accept, mocking Tyson Kidd's hair cut and Harry Smith's baby face, The Bulldogs look furious. Segment Rating D-

Undertaker defeats United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter by Tombstone after 15:54.

Undertaker was visibly tiring toward the end of the match whilst the performance of Montel Vontavious Porter was disappointing meaning the match rating suffered. Match Rating C+

Backstage, Punk cuts a promo on Edge saying that he takes great pride in taking the title cleanly referencing Edge's many dubious title wins over the last few years. He promises that tonight he will make Edge Go To Sleep. Segment Rating B+

Melina and Gail Kim defeated Michelle McCool and Katie Lea Burchill after Kim pins Katie Lea after a top turnbuckle diving reverse DDT. Match Rating D+

Video recap of Punk beating Edge at Summerslam. Segment Rating B

CM Punk defeated Edge to retain the WCW Title (defence number 1) in 21:23 after a Go To Sleep.

A decent match including a spear through the barrier, many close pinfalls (including Punk kicking out of a Spear) and Punk busting out the Anaconda Vice. Match Rating B+

R-Truth defeated Eric Esobar with an Axe Kick after 8:43. Match Rating C

The Chavs Alex Shane and Darren Burridge (with Jetta) beat Ricky Ortiz and Zach Ryder in 6 minutes when Shane hits the One Night Stand on Ryder.

Alex Shane was really off his game tonight. and this really hurt the match rating. Shane, Burridge and Jetta came out in matching Burberry outfits (Burberry is a British designer label associated with football hooligans and chavs in the UK). Match Rating D-

Overall Show Rating B

Monday, Week 2, September 2009

Dean Malenko got out of his car and headed towards the entrance to WCW Headquarters as he noticed the familiar figure of WCW World Champion CM Punk passing through the buildings revolving doors. Dean stalled for a moment to catch a quick word with the champ before heading inside for his meeting with Shane.

Dean Malenko: Hey Punk, how's it going?

CM Punk: Good thanks Dean. Just got out of the photoshoot for WCW Magazine. You heading up to see Shane?

Dean Malenko: Yeah, he's called a meeting about the Layla situation. I didn't get a chance to talk to you on Friday, great match.

CM Punk: Thanks Dean. I like working with Edge.

Dean Malenko: I can tell, you guys seemed to be enjoying yourselves out there. I'd better get inside, Shane's waiting for me and if the voice mail's anything to go by he's pretty pissed, I'll talk to you at the house show tomorrow.

CM Punk: Cool, I'll see you then.

Malenko passed through the revolving door into the newly acquired building. He greeted Walter the security guard as he cut across the lobby towards the elevators. He spotted Christian and Shelton Benjamin talking by the stairs and flashed them a quick wave before pressing the call button.

After a short wait the elevator doors popped open. Malenko stepped inside and hit the button for the top floor, mulling over a few of the booking ideas he and Arn Anderson had been working on over the last few days.

Once he had arrived on the top floor he head straight through to Shane's office, knocking once on the door before pushing it open and heading inside.

Shane was standing motionless at the window peering out over the skyline of Connecticut.

Shane McMahon: Thanks for coming so soon Dean.

Shane turned and reached down onto his desk and grabing a newspaper, he thrust it towards Dean crumpled in his tight red fist.

Shane McMahon: Have you seen this?!?

The image of a furious Shane McMahon reminded Dean very much of Vince. His eyes had become almost tyranical, bulging out of their sockets as if they were being pushed out of his head.

Shane McMahon: I want Layla El suspended with immediate effect, and once it's completed I want her sent to development. She either makes a marked improvement by January or she's out!

Dean Malenko: I'll give her a call and let her know.

Shane McMahon: Make sure she knows she's on thin ice Dean. Of all the times to be caught with steroids, I can't believe it, we're gonna take a massive hit in popularity because of her, stupid bitch. The press are all over it.

Dean Malenko: I'll make sure she knows.

Shane turned away again staring back out of the window.

Dean Malenko: Have you had any further thoughts on the Undertaker angle?

Shane McMahon: Yeah actually I have, I really like it. We need to get some more guys over and this seems like a great way to start, I want to pull the trigger on Friday, speak to Arn and get it all planned out and email it over to me, I've got it a meeting with the board at four so I'll have a look when it's over.

Dean Malenko: Okay.

Dean headed out of the room leaving Shane to his view.

Friday Thunder

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=wcw-2.gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/wcw-2.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A hype video is shown for tonight's match between Chris Jericho and The Undertaker. Segment Rating A

A massive pyrotechnical display opens the show as the 8,316 fans in attendance at he American Airlines Arena (South East) are on their feet.

Todd Grisham: Welcome ladies and gentleman to WCW Thunder. I'm Todd Grisham along when Jim Ross, and what a show we have tonight Jim.

Jim Ross: Yes, what a show indeed, tonight we'll see Chris Jericho verses The Undertaker for the right to face CM Punk for the World Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Title at Fall Brawl, that's gonna be a slobberknocker for sure.

Todd Grisham: It sure will, we'll also see "The Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin square off against Rey Mysterio as well as The Canadian Bulldogs taking on Cryme Tyme. "Captain Charisma" Christian will be taking on the impressive Paul Burchill and well have diva action between Gail Kim and Michelle McCool.

Jim Ross: Both ladies will be looking for the victory to lift themselves in the Women's Title pecking order...

The lights in the arena go off, as a familiar countdown adorns the big screen.

BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!!!

Chris Jericho arrogantly makes him way to ringside, stopping halfway down the aisle to jaw at the fans heckling him as he passes. He's wearing one of his trademark suits and stops for a moment eyeballing the audience before slipping into the ring. He stands for a moment before lifting a mic to mouth.

Jericho starts by telling the crowd to shut up, he calls them ignorant deluded imbeciles. They cheer for people like Rey Mysterio, Undertaker and CM Punk yet they boo honest, upstanding CHAMPIONS like himself. Jericho represents everything that a champion in this business should be, he is honest and tells it like it is. He has integrity and stands up for what is right and proper. He says that as the first Undisputed Champion and the final man to hold the WCW Title, he should have automatically been in line for first shot, but instead he has to qualify by beating the likes of Christian and The Undertaker.

The fans pop for both names, they begin to chant "Taker, Taker, Taker". Jericho stands with a look of disgust on his face.

Jericho says that he is not afraid of the Undertaker, the man has spent nearly twenty years striking fear into the hearts of many, but not him. 'Taker has spent his whole career winning matches by using mind games, but Jericho claims to be of far higher intelligence than the rest, he says he is "the best in the world"...

...Suddenly CM Punk's music begins to play as the champion enters the arena through the curtain, gesturing to the fans as he makes his way down the aisle and into the ring.

Jericho asks Punk what the hell he thinks he is doing out here, he might be the champion but he should have some respect. Punk says that he does have respect, respect for the fans that pay to see the WCW Superstars perform every week. He has respect for the legends that paved the way for him like Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker, he then informs Jericho that tonight he will take great pleasure at watching Undertaker kicks Jericho's ass from ringside.

Jericho is left fuming as the segment comes to an end. Segment Rating B-

Dolph Ziggler vs John Morrison

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=DolphZiggler.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/DolphZiggler.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> VS. <a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=JohnMorrison.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/JohnMorrison.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A very competitive match with both men looking strong, Dolph Ziggler looked a little bit off tonight though and that seemed to hurt the bout overall.

Finish came after 11:23 when Morrison missed the Starship Pain allowing Ziggler to hit him with the Leaping reverse STO. Match Rating C-

Edge is out next he gets mic and begins to complain about the result last week, he says he had a bad night and that CM Punk better be carefull because he'll get another chance, and Punk won't be so lucky next time. He begins to berate the fans saying that Punk is not good enough to be the champion and face of WCW, and that he is the Rated R Superstar and the only one with the legacy to do so, reminding fans that he is a nine time World Champion, a figure the current champion can only dream of...

...Christian's music begins to play as Captain Charisma, Edge's brother makes his way to the ring, smiling and slapping hands with the fans. As he gets in the ring Edge has a p*ssed off expression on his face.

Christian asks Edge what happened to make him so bitter, they used to have so much fun together, he mentions the five second poses and the laughs they used to share, he asks "why so serious?"

Edge takes exception to this and begins to hurl insults at Christian, calling him a poor imitation of himself, saying he's never lived up to Edge's standards and never will, saying Christian doesn't even deserve to be uttered in the same breath as him.

Christian laughs it off calling Edge a coward and a cheat, at least he gets the job done without marrying a pig.

Edge is furious and goes to attack Christian who shrugs him off and throws him over the top rope. The fans cheer as Edge heads up the aisle licking his wounds. Segment Rating B+

Canadian Bulldogs w/Nattie Neidhart vs Cryme Tyme

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=harrysmith.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/harrysmith.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> & <a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=tysonkidd.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/tysonkidd.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A decent performance from all four men as well as some good work at ringside by Nattie.

The Bulldogs get the win after a Hart Attack on JTG after 9:54 Match Rating D

A music video is shown hyping the debut of TOO COOL!!! Segment Rating E+

MVP is being interviewed backstage, he says he was disappointed to lose to The Undertaker last week but he's still BALLIN' and he's still United States Champion, he says that he is going to find some competition for the title at Fall Brawl...

...SUDDENLY, Umaga burst into camera shot smashing MVP over the back of his head forcing him to the floor. Umaga stomps him a few times before lifting him to his feet a delivering a brutal Samoan Spike. The Samoan Monster screams at the camera before exiting leaving the fallen US Champ motionless on the floor. Segment Rating B-

Gail Kim vs Michelle McCool

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=gailkim.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/gailkim.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> VS. <a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=MichelleMcCool.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/MichelleMcCool.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Gail Kim and Michelle McCool don't seem to click, and it made for an awkward bout. Match Rating D+

After the match Katie Lea comes storming down to the ring, she attacks Gail beating her down to the canvas, shortly after McCool joins in the assault...

...Women's Champion Melina comes bounding out chasing both women off before helping Gail to her feet, and holding her arm aloft, showing her respect for her. Segment Rating D+

Paul Burchill vs Christian

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=PaulBurchill.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/PaulBurchill.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> VS. <a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=Christian.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/Christian.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

This match really got the crowd going, both men put on a good show here and the match really did a lot to put both men over.

Paul Burchill gets the win with a Curb Stomp after Edge comes out and distracts Christian giving Burchill a chance to hit some high power offense before finishing Christian off at 13:43. Match Rating B-

After the match Edge and Christian have a staredown between the ramp and the ring. Segment Rating B

<a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=ReyMysterio.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/ReyMysterio.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> VS. <a href="http://s571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/?action=view&current=SheltonBenjamin.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss154/ScottMulhern/SheltonBenjamin.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

A high-paced, high-flying match up which really lifted the crowd. Shelton came out of the match looking good after nearly having Mysterio beat on a number of occasions, including reversing a hurricanrana into a vicious powerbomb for a near fall.

Finish comes after 15:43 when Rey manages to hit the 619 and West Coast Pop on Benjamin. Match Rating B

Both men went all out in this one and it lifted the crowd. Undertaker was visibly tiring towards the end and Jericho did a great job at masking this and keeping the match at a good pace.

The finish came at 14:47, when a man dressed as a druid hit the ring with a steel chair as 'Taker held Jericho is the Hell's Gate whilst the referee was still groggy from being knocked down a few minutes earlier. The mystery man blasted 'Taker square in the face allowing Jericho to roll him up for the win. Match Rating B

After the match the Undertaker did his zombie sit up whilst Jericho lay exhausted, he hinted towards attacking Jericho before heading backstage after his assailant. Segment Rating B-

Jericho finally gets to his feet and grabs a mic, he calls Punk into the ring. Punk accepts and get in. Jericho wastes no time before attacking Punk, however Punk had anticipated that and lifts Jericho onto his shoulders delivering the Go To Sleep on the number one contender to close the show.
