Most are unsure if this new lease on life was fate or fortune. Whatever the case may be the XFW is re-opening its doors under the ownership of Rocky Streets. Another obvious point of interest will be that the XFW no longer will be contending for East Coast dominance since it has been shipped across the border to Toronto. It seems that their struggle in the East Coast region is over. The owners / investors sold the company to Rocky Streets in January of '97. He had to take a second look at the company product and made some serious changes. The biggest among them, XFW's move Toronto. Rocky secured some minor talent and was able to acquire the financing to re-open their doors. Batter Up!

Lol, east coast wars, Diary style!

Oddly enough I was just about to do a diary on the XFW using the standard '97 CVerse data. After inquiring on the next 'draft' I was able to jump in on the recent '97 data draft and decided to try my hand at gathering a somewhat different roster for the XFW and then having an East Coast diary with that set.

Unfortunately I was only able to pick up with the individuals spot that was vacated and he had chosen Canada. So, I decided what the hey...have the XFW shipped off to Ontario. http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv17/BassetHnd/30.gif

So, now that I have the opening to this scene posted I will get to work on a brief prologue and a introduction of the 'booker' that I will be using within the game set.

Moving Day

He stops shortly to survey the event and catches a glimpse of Pat Deacon making his way across the loading docks. The combination of industrial noises that vary from forklift engines, the hammers and electric saws that the workers are using to construct the offices, and even those same workers chattering and calling have both a distracting and relaxing feel to it. Pat finally meets up with Rocky and attempts to greet his new boss with a handshake but Rocky pauses awkwardly before taking the invitation.

Slow and awkward moment completed, Rocky motions for him to follow over to the shipping office, which is nothing more that a large insulated plywood box with a door and a window. Rocky shuts the door, muting the sounds slightly but it is enough to have a conversation. He strides around the side of the supervisor’s desk removing his hardhat with one hand and holding out the other to receive the large manila envelope that Pat had been carrying. Rocky begins flipping through the contents of the folder while showing a mixed bag of emotions. Pat folds his arms together and turns his back to Rocky to watch the activity through the office window.

{Deacon:} I’m getting to old to become someone’s glorified secretary Rocky…<o></o>

The new owner of the XFW flicks a glance over the top of his notes and bores a hole through the back of Pat’s head. Returning to reviewing the notes Rocky responds:

{Streets:} This was the best that you could come up with Deacon? I understand that I may have called you a bit late in the game when the industry shake up happened, but come on!? What am I looking at here?<o>

</o> Pat tries to spin on his heel to turn to snap at Streets but comes up completely short. He winces as he does but continues with his comment:

{Deacon:} Rocky, you had caught me at a bad time! Big deal you didn’t get what YOU wanted out all of this. But this wasn’t what you hired me for. I am to be responsible to provide training to your talent and insure that things go well at the show, THAT’S IT! I am not a fed manager nor do I want to be one. I scrapped up what I thought you could get for the type of show you had in mind. Plus, you are too d*** cheap for me to have secured much better.<o>

</o> Rocky smiles devilishly and holds up his hand to calm Pat down.

{Streets:} Slow down old man, I get it. However, next time don’t get so fired up when I ask you to defend your decisions…<o>

</o> Pat rolls his eyes and unfolds his arms to lean against the wall.

{Streets:} ...You left a note here stating that we still have some holes in the roster that still need filled?<o>

</o> {Deacon:} Yes, and it will be your managers issue to resolve when he arrives.<o>

</o> Pat checks his watch and scans the room in search of a calendar for reference.

{Deacon:} He stated in his phone call with him the other day that he would be here late today. But who knows, he seems a bit full of himself so you should like him quite well actually. Anyway, the other note of importance was, if you flip to the red post it tab, that in order to gain some immediate exposure I reserved some of our finances during the struggle with the other promotions for a media spot.<o>

</o> Rocky flips to the notes, scans them over briefly, and almost gets excited until he finishes the rest and instantly scowls.

{Streets:} Good job Pat, but this wasn’t what I had in mind. I don’t care for live programs.<o>

</o> {Deacon:} Well, get used to it Rocky, it will only be an hour-long production for now and the network was actually excited to have us on board. The only stipulation was that go live…so, you got your media spot boss.<o>

{Streets:} Fine. Now go get your surgery old man. You’ll have a lot of work when you get back and it’s a good thing you secured Ares to handle the talent while you are gone…<o>

</o> Rocky scribbles down something on scrap piece of paper and hands it to Pat.

{Streets:} I still expect you to run the news site for us while you’re on your back for the next three months. So go ahead and post this as our Main Event for Deadlock. I’ll think about the rest of the card tonight and speak with this ‘wonderful’ manager that you seem to have hired but is nowhere to be found.<o>

</o> Pat read the note over and looks back up to Rocky:

{Deacon:} This is for the World Title, why not have a tourna…<o>

</o> {Streets:} POST IT!!! Get a venue and post the Main Event, the show is two days old man! Don’t you remember, you’re the one who got us this contract! GO!<o>

</o> Pat just stares at his boss and then back to the note before turning to leave.

Greetings fans, and welcome to our first week as the new

XFW

, I’m

Pat Deacon

director of talent relations. Not to over state the obvious here, this isn’t the

XFW

that you may have grown to love when we were stationed on the east coast. Do not fear my friends, we still plan on bringing you the best of the all out brawls that we are known for, it just may not be as

‘outlaw’

as it used to be.

I have been asked by my boss and new owner of the

‘X’

to keep you guys informed to what we are doing, were we are going and even maybe what we are thinking about as far as future

‘conflicts’

between our talent. Unbelievably,

Rocky

wants you guys to give him the all out truth when it comes to the decisions or directions we take here in the

‘X’

. Some may be wondering why it is that I am the one bringing the ‘news’ from the

XFW

? To put it simply

Rocky

and our new manager of operations

Leo Straw

have decided that it would be better this way. The idea will be that since

Ares

and I have the most contact with the talent that we should be responsible of passing along the

‘gossip’

to you guys.

So, without further delay I will briefly introduce to you our new manager of operations and color commentator

Leo Straw
is a communications major from the mid-west. He has decent skills on the mic but has not had the exposure he has desired. He recently just finished a supplemental degree course in business management that he though would be put to use in becoming an asst. director of a small television studio.<o></o>

To his surprise, he came across an opportunity to gain both exposures on the mic and in the office with a proposal to operate
XFW
<o> </o>
after it relocates in Toronto.

Leo has a gentle spirit but a ruthless heart and is not afraid to call things as they are. Speculators have not decided if this is a strength or weakness.

ON WITH THE SHOW

I know this isn’t much to sneeze at guys, but there simply isn’t much to report since we just have left the starting gate.

Ares

and I will be working on trying to get our talent to come and have a sit down and talk a bit about themselves, we’ll comment and debate on our shows and speculate on what may happen and with who. I enjoy challenges guys and this indeed will be a challenge but what some folks don’t seem to understand is that we have the potential talent to produce a unique blend of conflict here in our new home town. A fresh start from the pool that we were drowning in on the east coast, so let’s see what the future will hold and get on with the show.
