True Warriors of New York (Based on Draft-a-Roster)

Recommended Posts

First let me start with this believe it or not some one said I should do a dairy for my Draft-a-Roster fed so here it is. Disclaimer: This is a completely fictional roster with an alter version of events then the real world. All the copyright blah blah stuff this is just for fun and in no way should be considered for real. Introduction People always expect things to last forever the problem is they never do. Wrestling was huge all around the world on almost every continent. Everyone thought as the WWE became a world wide organization that wrestling would be forever, but WWE is what started the beginning of the collapse of the world wide wrestling organizations. It started with Vince’s sudden heart attack and a sibling war between Stephanie and Shane. The WWE was basically ripped in two. As the siblings tried to out do each other by hiring every decent wrestler on the planet the mid sized companies had to buy out talent from the small companies and the small companies went out of business. When Stephanie and Shane bankrupted WWE with all the costs of the war between the two siblings the wrestling market was flooded by all the wrestlers with no jobs that was truly the beginning of the end. At first everyone tried to start new promotions. As the wrestling community was flooded with all these new small promotions the viewership was spread out so much that not enough fans went to the shows to keep any of the feds afloat. After the last of the small feds went out of business the world was without any professional wrestling, for a time. It was almost two years before the first new promotion opened, then another and another. Although it all started in the USA one brave promotion opened in Canada trying to capture that completely tapped market. Ten promotions in all, a new beginning that harkened back to the early days of the territories. The question remains to be seen if any of these promotions can become the next WWE.

Confessions of a promotion owner As we all know the wrestling revival has come, it is a new era in the world of professional wrestling. Although I’ve been told it was a fool idea, a dreamer’s wish, I have decided to open up my own wrestling promotion. To be honest the idea wasn’t really my own during the sabbatical wrestling took I met a man, a man named Thomas Simpson. Mr. Simpson was originally the promoter for a company called OMEGA, a company that produced some of my favorite wrestlers in old days. Mr. Simpson and a bunch of the wrestlers from OMEGA were looking to started up a new wrestling promotion now that others had cropped up, but no one was fool enough to fund it. So here I am a fool looking to make a name for myself in a business I have no clue about. I’ve got the money and the ideas and Simpson has the connections with the wrestlers. I am going to be keeping this detailed account of things so that when this is all said and done I can look back and see what went right or wrong. Since I’m posting this on the internet I’m sure they’ll be comments and questions, as we all know the discontent of the internet fans is what helped destroy wrestling. Hopefully the pleasure of those same fans will help bring it back to life.

November 2005 Monday Week One As I said in the opening of this journal these notes are to keep me focused on the task that lies ahead while allowing me see what has gone by as reference. Thomas Simpson and I finally finalized things and today True Warriors of New York is an official company and one of the new territories of wrestling in the U.S. We'd collected a lot of workers who were looking to wrestle but Tom seemed to be deficient in a few of the major points, like announcers, referees and managers. Now that there is a company and I am the owner it falls one me to fill these spots. To complete the reference I will outline the promotion and it's structure as it stands on the following page while I hunt down the remaining staff I need.

November 2005 Friday Week One It took five days but it’s done the last of the roster is filled, an extra colour commentator, an announcer, two managers and a referee. With no pre planned show our first outing would have to wait till next week. I spent some time looking over my roster and set up my booking team and my road agent team. November 2005 Monday Week Two It’s Monday morning and I’ve finally made some creative decisions. We were going to start up our first event this Saturday; I checked the TV schedule and no one had a show on Saturday (or Sunday for that matter) so it seemed the natural choice. Since I think we’re big enough I figured we’d run a weekly show which I’ve tentatively named Warriors of the Empire State. I’ve gotta send out the flier with the matches on it to be handed out. This first event I figure all of the titles will be up for grabs so we’re really gonna give ‘em a show. For the Printer This Saturday at Alumni Hall in New York City True Warriors of New York Proudly Presents Warriors of the Empire State Air Paris and The SAT will be facing off against Arch Kincaid and The Solution for the Triple Threat Title Lance Hoyt and Justice Pain go at it in a no holds barred barbed wire hardcore extravaganza for the Ultimate Brutality Title The Total Tag Team Title will be up for grabs as Christian York and Joey Matthews of Team Omega go toe to toe with Mexico's Most Wanted (Damien 666 and Halloween) who will be representing the Mexican Liberation Front The Top Rope title will find a waist to call home in a four-way ladder match between Frankie Kazarian vs Shannon Moore vs Abismo Negro vs Ace Steel ...And Round 1 of True Champion Tournament will see two of its four matches tonight: Kid Kash vs Justin Credible Jeff Hardy vs Shocker

First Show November 2005 Sunday Week Two Last night was our first show and although last night for me is only technically 6 hours away I didn't want to sleep before I got this down. All in all I think the show went well but I think I'm gonna start keeping a complete rundown so I know what's going on. The show started off with Justin Credible in the ring to my memory he was pretty good on the mic but the crowd didn’t seem to think so. He had some choice words to say about Kid Kash and his match with him latter in the evening but it didn’t get the crowd as revved up as I would have liked Rating: C Air Paris and The SAT vs Arch Kincaid and The Solution For the Triple Threat Title As far as openers go this was decent the crowd took it for what it was and most of the crowd actually paid attention. Both trios did their best to pass the momentum back and forth. Kincaid and The Solution played it up to the crowd gloating whenever they were in control while Paris and The SAT tried to get keep them pumped by pounding on the ring posts. The match ended when Air Paris pinned Arch Kincaid in 9 minutes and 36 seconds, while The SAT kept The Solution occupied on the outside of the ring. Rating: C (9:36) The not so big screen played the team graphics for York & Matthews and Mexico’s Most Wanted, while Michael Hayes, Thomas Simpson and Scott Hudson spoke a little bit about the match they would have this evening for the tag team titles. Rating: C Lance Hoyt vs Justice Pain For the Ultimate Brutality Title It took quite some time to set up the barbed wire ropes but the crowd went nuts for this incredibly brutal match. This was another match were momentum was traded evenly between two players. The match ended when Lance Hoyt managed to pull out a pinfall at about 12 and half minutes with the ring and both men covered in blood. To me it didn’t seem like the crowd even noticed that each move was planned for the most carnage and that’s just the way I wanted it. From the crowd I heard how well Hoyt and Pain worked together so it was not surprise to hear the same thing at the road agent meeting that evening as well. Rating: B- York & Matthews vs Mexico's Most Wanted For the Total Tag Team Title A second slightly above average match kept the night going well. Both teams did enough high spots and kept the crowd screaming for more. The match ended in a draw a little after 11 minutes when the ref called for the bell because both teams were out of the ring for too long. Rating: B- Frankie Kazarian vs Shannon Moore vs Abismo Negro vs Ace Steel For the Top Rope Title The road crew set up the ladders in the ring, which gave the fans enough time to get some drinks and food. When they came back they were treated to one hell of a ladder match. All four competitors went all out for this one and even I was that Kazarian had really hurt himself at one point. When Abismo Negro and Shannon Moore where walking across the flat ladder balanced on two standing ladders and then got knocked over by Kazarian and Steel I almost lost my breath. The match end when Negro, Moore and Kazarian were out for the count and Steel climbed the ladder for the retrival in just over 13 minutes. Rating: B- Kid Kash vs Justin Credible Round 1 of True Champion Tournament The first of the round one matches for the True Champion Title and it showed why these guys were in the main event. The crowd was taken aback by the match which never stopped the action for a moment. Kid Kash was just about to win when Credible grabbed a handful of tight rolled oevr him and the ref counted the one, two, three. Kash was furious that he seemed to have wasted 15 Minutes which is when Credible attacked him and left him laid out on the ring floor Rating: B (Match) C- (Attack) The not so jumbotron show the backstage area where Mexico's Most Wanted was arguing. The problem was that because Damien and Halloween only spoke Spanish noody knew what was going on until Missy Hyatt made it clear that they were arguing about the draw. The other big problem here was that Halloween didn’t really work with Missy well and the crowd knew it, but with them only speaking Spanish they definitely needed a manager. Rating: C Jeff Hardy vs Schocker Round 1 of True Champion Tournament The last match made things well worth the price of admission. I swear no one was in a seat and I think at one point the crowd collectively held its breath. This match was another all out affair of highflying and incredible spots, reminded me why I was a huge Jeff Hardy fan in the day. Hardy finally got the win in 20 minutes when he pinned shocker. Keeping right up with the momentum Jeff celebrated by running out into the crowd which drove them nuts. Rating: B+ (Match) B+ (Celebration)

Good card man. Since the draft I've been wondering how your promotion would turn out. I liked your whole OMEGA concept in the draft and I like reading it now. Makes for good in ring action. I found the write up for Damien 666 and Halloween hilarious because they only speak spanish and you have some of my favorite workers like ACE STEEL (My Top Rope Title Favorite) and Frankie Kazarian ( i really like watching Kazarian in the ring).

November 2005 Tuesday Week Three After the success of last weeks show I can't wait to get to next weeks show. I've got a lot of ideas from my staff and the workers themselves. I've got to write up the flyer for the next show to send out to the printer and put up on the website. november 2005 Sunday Week Three Another overall good show the fans seemed happy and they got to see a lot of the guys they didn’t see last week. We made a ton more cash so I may expand the scope of the shows and put on a 3 hour extravaganza but that’ll have to wait till a later date. We opened up with The Headhunters in the ring. They spent some time going on about how they are the greatest and to prove it they challenged anyone to come out and face them. These guys weren’t what I’d called golden on the mic, maybe even a little below average but I guess some times you need to let them go just to move a story along. Rating: C- Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz vs Headhunters EC Negro and KC Blade who have noticibly been spending less time together outside of the ring answered the call and the match started forthwith. It was an average showing from both teams and even though KC and EC seemed to be falling apart as a tag team they convincingly put over The Headhunters as living up to their previous hype of being the greatest. Headhunter I got the pin after a powerbomb at just passed ten minutes. Rating: C After handing out a beating the Headhunters took some time to play themselves up to the crowd who seemed a little disinterested. Rating: C- The Tinytron was up and it was Matt Hardy backstage and the crowd went nnuts. Matt took some time to talk about his tournament match with Jerry Lynn tonight. He put Jerry over as a good competitor but let it be known Matt Hardy was the showstopper. Rating: B Shannon Moore vs Abismo Negro This match continued the above average portion of the evening’s festivities but the crowd seemed to have wanted more after Matt Hardy’s promo. Moore and Negro took to the air quite a few times but didn’t take to many over spots, they were more about keeping the crowd focused then breathless. Moore took a clean win in ten and a half minutes with a pinfall after the Mooregasm. Rating: C+ Abismo Negro attacked Shannon Moore after the match in frustration, it wasn’t so much that the segment was below par as it was the crowd was expecting it somehow so they didn’t care as much. Rating: C- Ace Steel vs Frankie Kazarian For the Top Rope Title Two of last week competitors in the ring a second time was something the fans really wanted to see. The Top Rope title got another ladder match under it’s belt and these two guys put balls to the wall to make it mean something. Ace Steel pulled out the clean win with the retrieval of the title from over the ring. (Steel wins, open match, decisive, call in ring, All Out, Retrival) Rating: B- (12:55) Ace Steel tried to walk out of the ring but Frankie Kazarian stopped him and offered him a hand. and steel still champion accepts. Hollywood superstar Ace Steel took a minute to accep,t but it was a clean shake. Ace Steel tried to leave again but Kazarian said “why don't we do a best of 7” for the title. Ace Steel nodded his head and let Kazarian now that he accepted his challenge.. Rating: C- (Handsahke) C (Challenge) C (Acceptance) Funaki came out to the ring to talk about his match against Mike Awesome. Funaki still played up the language barrier thing but the fans loved him for it. You could tell by the look in their eyes that the fans were psyched for the match. Rating: B Shane Helms vs Mr. Aguila As one of the few workers worthy of the main event who wasn’t in the tournament Team OMEGA’s Shane Helms got a match against the Mexican Liberation Front’s Mr. Aguila. The match mostly belonged to Helms but that was to protect some of the short comings of Mr. Aguila. This tactic obviously worked because the crowd was pumped by the match put on by the two. Shane picked up the win after a pinfall. Rating: B- Matt Hardy vs Jerry Lynn First tournament match and actually the best match of the night, Matt Hardy and Jerry Lynn showed why they are at the top of the promotion and the top of their game. The match was a cliffhanger after every move and the fans enjoyed every minute of it. Matt, however, wasn’t to be stopped as he hit the twist of fate and got the pinfall in a twenty-two minute killer match. Rating: B+ Funaki vs Mike Awesome Funaki is really all you needed to know about this match, a lot of folks who remembered him from his WWE days weren’t expecting what they saw out their but they sure did love it. With momentum split up evenly between the two men it was hard to tell which of these great performers was going to come out on top. In the end it was the clinical specialist Mike Awesome who took a clean put devastating win over Funaki with an awesomebomb. Rating: B

November 2005 Sunday Week Four And last night was a great night for TWNY and a great night for it’s fans. The turn out was incredible and so was the show itself. The best show we’ve put on to date and if our shows keep getting beter we’re really going to break out ahead. To start off tonight we did a few dark matches. Well not really dark since we don’t have TV time but they were going on while the fans were getting seated. Cheerleader Mellisa vs Sara Del Ray The women were up first to show the fans what they could do. The fans who were in the arena alrdy seemed to be stunned by the well above average mat work that was going on between the two women and the fact that Cheerleader Mellisa looked slammin’ in her wrestling gear didn’t hurt either. Mellisa did some pretty good high flying as well but when Sara Del Ray went for the top rope she blew her spot and I think that’s when the fans turned on the match a bit. All in all it was only slightly below average but a good outing for both women. Mellisa got the win when Sara Del Ray hit her in the head with a chair. Rating: C- B-Boy and Scorpio vs Negro Casas and Super Calo The second dark match on the other hand was only slightly above average. Two of the Mexican Liberation Front Negro Casas and Super Calo took on B-Boy and Scorpio. B-Boy showed the most talent in the ring keeping up not only with the high flying antics of the three other top rope workers but putting on a decent mat show with Negro Casas. The match was divided pretty evenly between the two teams and the win came just shy of eight minutes by pinfall with Scorpio laying over Super Calo. Some of the bright spots of the night were when Missy Hyatt got involved trying to distract the ref. Rating: C+ Frankie Kazarian vs Ace Steel The actual show begin and the fans were on their feet, match one in the best of seven between Frankie Kazarian and Ace Steel. Both these guys are incredible workers but this match here was a bout the flash. The attempt here was to get the momentum going for the rest of the show and they did what they aimed to do. The spots weren’t so much dangerous as they were well thought out pieces of art. If this series keeps getting better these two man might make it into the main event by the end. Frankie Kazarian got the pin at about ten and a half minutes and Ace Steel seemed a little flustered after two wins already under his championship bely against Kazarian already Rating: B- Directed by Missy Hyatt, Mexico's Most Wanted attacked York & Matthews and it was shown on the New Yorkatron. Halloween didn’t seem to realize he was supposed to be taking orders from Missy, he better learn English soon if he doesn’t want to work with a manager. Rating: C- Scorpio vs Abismo Negro After already taking a win in a dark match that night against members of the Mexican Liberation Front it appeared Scorpio gets a second chance at the group when he faced off against Abismo Negro. Another above average showing from Scorpio and a luchadore but this time he was dominated by Absimo Negro. The work was above par and Missy Hyatt did another great job at ringside. The tide had turned and Absimo didn’t like that much so Hyatt distracted the ref and the luchadore grabbed a chair. He was about to hit Scorpio when Shannon Moore ran down to the ring kocked out Abismo Negro with the his own chrai by colliding into it from the top rope and dragging Scorpio on top of him. The ref turned just after Moore exited the ring with the chrai and Scropio was the winner in just over six minutes. Rating: C+ (6:37) York and Matthews where in the ring for a few minutes talking about the attack from Mexico’s Most Wanted earlier in the evening. They wanted Mexico's Most Wanted to know that they were calling them out. That later on they would be seeing them in the ring. Rating: C Elix Skipper vs Trinity Now I like trinity but I’ll be honest I didn’t expect as much from this match as I did from some of the others. The chemistry between Elix Skipper and Trinity was so great and the moves they had set up so perfectly scripted that the crowd didn’t even know what hit them. The match was pretty open and although I knew it was going on you could hardly see that Elix was hiding some of Trinity’s weak spots. From the looks of it everyone expected Elix Skipper to win but when the ref’s back was turned Trinity hit the low blow. I swear to you every guy in the arena grabbed his crotch. Elix fell like a ton of bricks, Trinity hit the moonsault and the ref counted the three count. Rating: B (6:37) Absimo Negro lures Shannon Moore into a trap backstage where he is attacked by Mr. Aguila and Shocker. Even though Missy Hyatt helped out Abismo Negor's language barrier really hindered this segment. Rating: C- A hype video played for the York and Matthews versus Mexico's Most Wanted match which was up next. Rating: C- York and Matthews vs Mexico's Most Wanted After all his evenings festivities between these two teams this match made sitting through some only average segments worth it. The two teams did quite a bit of their work from the top rope and that’s whatthe crowd came to see. The end came when the Ref missed Damien 666 attack Christian York with a chair due to the distraction of Missy Hyatt. Hyatt, however, made sure the ref caught York retaliating and he called for the DQ. Rating: B- Matt Hardy came out to the ring to hype his match tonight against Mike Awesome. The crowd went ballistic and we saw yet another reason why Matt Hardy makes for great shows. Rating: B+ Andrew Martin vs Xavier The first showing by Andrew Martin and although it was above average it could have been much better. Something about Martin and Xavier did click they just didn’t seem to work well together. Seska did some good work at the ringside stopping Xavier from a couple of questionable moves against her client and Andrew Martin got the clean pin just slightly before twelve minutes. Rating: C+ Hardy number two came out to the ring as Jeff hyped his match against Justin Credible. Not quite as good as his brother but still good stuff. Rating: B Jeff Hardy vs Justin Credible What Justin brought in raw power and mat skills Jeff brought in death defying top rope moves. The differences in style gave this match a little something for everyone. Both men sacrificed their bodies in everyway possible during this match. The ned came when Jeff Hardy got a set of hidden brass knuckles to the face. Justin Credible took the pin and gloated about his win on the way out Rating: B+ Matt Hardy vs Mike Awesome And I some how saved the best for last in an incredible match between Matt Hardy and Mike Awesome. Hardy was obviously distressed about his brother as it took him awhile to get warmed up, which gave Awesome the upper hand for a good portion of the match. Hardy got back into it taking away some of Awesome’s power by taking to the top rope instead of meeting him toe to toe in the middle of the ring. The crowd was breathless as Mike Awesome went for the Awesome Bomb but matt Hardy slipped out of it. The only problem with the match was it may have been a little long as Mike Awesome was tiring a little at the end which is when Matt Hardy hit the twist of fate and got the pin. The crowd went nuts and Matt left the ring with a standing ovation. Rating: A Rating Overall: B+

October 2005 Monday Week One Generally I wait till Tuesdays to make my entry to give myself a few days to reflect but as this was the end of our first month. First I’d like to note a rise in our popularity in the Tri-State area (C+ to B-) which has been obvious in our attendances at our shows. Second we have garnered a TV show. TWNY Never Say Die will air on WBGN-TV in the Tri-State area. We will be airing live shows Sundays at 12:00am for one season as a test on the station. In actuality we are now the only promotion with a show as al the other TV shows have apparently been dropped. On top of that financially we have made just shy of 100.000 dollars this month with only three shows. The only roster change was a request by Andrew Martin and by a large portion of the fans to see more of him. Andrew Martin has been rocketed up to the main event and if his match with Xavier is any indication then he deserves to be there. I’ve also decided to do a new scheduling for TWNY due to our TV shows. Warriors of the Empire State will now become our Friday night 2 hour super show. 12am Sunday morning, well you know I’d really still consider it Saturday night but that’s just me, will be Never Say Die which will be live. For the Printers This Saturday at the Indoor Sports Complex in Stony Brook, New York True Warriors of New York Proudly Presents Warriors of the Empire State The show stealing Air Paris takes on everyone’s least favorite weasel Jimmy Rave B-Boy from the hood meets up with the Mexican Liberation Front’s Negro Casas Lane Hoyt defends his title against the man he beat to gain it Justice Pain in another Ultimate Brutality match. Scorpio goes up against yet another member of the Mexican Liberation Front when he faces the flame haired Mr. Aguila Andrew Marin and Mike Awesome head to the ring to take out some aggression on each other. Japanese fan favorite Funaki takes on the king of perfection Jerry Lynn both losers in the True Champion Tournament.
