<em><em>{Jerry Eisen is standing in front of the reconstructed Sunday Slamfest backstage interview area. It’s basically a wooden panel painted to look like a brick wall. In the middle of the pannel stands the old SWF logo like he crushed the wall on its course.}</em></em></p><p> </p><p>

"Welcome back everyone to the Supreme Wrestling story. In the first disc of this set, we showed you how everything began. In 1972, Richard Eisen and handful of close business partners decided to risk some money in the entertainment business and bought the dying New England territory. In a matter of a few months, Richard turned things around with his keen business sense and numerous observations about the still fairly new media that was television at that time. As we showed you, developing wrestling to a whole new level in America had to go by the proper use of television in Richard’s mind, but it was not the only turning point. "</p><p> </p><p>

" Loyalty was strong in the territorial system, but everything has a price. Slowly but surely, Richard Eisen offered lucrative exclusive contracts to the best wrestlers. The marketing scheme was pretty simple : if you want to see the best wrestling, you have to come to New England. It didn’t take long for the SWF to start invading other territories in an aggressive fashion to clearly establish in everyone’s mind who was clearly the industry leader. Soon enough, the company secured a national TV deal, a symbol of domination at this period. "</p><p> </p><p>

"Let me recap a couple of key points going in September 1975 : </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/mickystarr75.JPG</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Eisen : "Micky Starr won a tournament the become first ever SWF World Heavyweight champion and became the face of the promotion. He’s still the champion going in this chapter, unbeaten in single action in three years ! He’s currently set to face the recently turned by jealousy, Powerhouse Patterson." </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/ares75.JPG</span><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/antoniomoretti75.JPG</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Eisen : "We’re also coming off the heels of the end of a 20 years rivalry between The Greek God Ares Aegaleus and The Italian Stallion Antonio Moretti. Aegaleus was forced into retirement by losing a Retirement match a few months ago and he’s now managing a dangerous group of evil doers dedicated to the fall of Micky Starr. Moretti retired in a show of respect after his match against Aegaleus and he’s enjoying a peaceful retirement with the occasional appearance at the announcing table." </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/tysonlang75.JPG</span><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/ironmike75.JPG</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Eisen : "Former boxing star Tyson Lang came back to the promotion two months ago after suffering a terrible boxing injury. Another former boxer, Iron Mike Milligan took exception of Lang’s claim of greatness and it looks like the two are likely to collide soon. "</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/babette75.JPG</span><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/rickrumble75.JPG</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Eisen : "Flanked by the stunning Babette, Rick Rumble has been the United Champion for the last nine months. He beat all the competition in this period, but might a found good opposition lately in Ares’ Titans. Helping Micky Starr was the right thing to do, but it might cost Rumble down the road. "</p><p> </p><p>

"That’s only a few examples of what’s awaiting you in this chapter. Now, let me present you a friend who was there at the time…."</p>

{A man in his late 50s wearing a simple black sleeveless shirt and jeans is sitting near a ring in some dusty gym. You can hear a few people training behind him. He’s playing mechanically with a leather mask as he’s talking.}

"Most of you probably don’t remember me, but I was wrestling in the Supreme back in late 70s. I wasn’t winning much at the time… I was still paying my dues hoping that one day I could carry some gold. Didn’t happen often, mostly in time of crisis for a short period of time, but I was never out of job very long. Every company needs people like me at some point, someone that cold out there in the ring, make his opponent looks like he’s the next incarnation of Micky Starr, even he’s talented as a rock, and never complain about it. This sport is not about wearing a championship, making millions or loving a new woman every night… It’s about the adrenaline rush you get from performing in front of thousand fans; it’s about showcasing the untold limits of the human body; it’s about making millions of people forget for a few hours anything that could hinder their life at that moment; it’s about, even for a split second, touching people in a way so personal they will feel compelled by the story you’re telling them and will never forget you. And yet, too many kids forget it even now…"

"Sorry for the ramblings, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Tim Carlton and I was a young wrestler employed by SWF in the late 70s. My name probably doesn’t sound familiar as I never wrestled under it. For most of my career, I wore a mask like this one and went by many names. In early 1975, Richard Eisen brought me in his promotion as he knew I could get in the ring with anyone. He was looking for someone who could play the bad guy for newcomers, you know, to clearly set them a good guy in the public eyes."

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/maskedmauler75.JPG

Carlton : "That’s how he and Rocky Streets, his main creative hand at the time, came up with the Masked Mauler persona. I started wearing this mask and randomly attacking good guys backstage and around the ring. There was no real justification behind it, I was just some mad man looking to inflict pain on others for an unknown reason. A rare thing in Supreme at that time, I had permission to use whatever object I could find to hurt my opponent. It made me look even more evil in the fans eyes. In the end of each story, I was beaten fair and square in the ring after a hard fought battle. The good guy wins, people have a reason to get behind him and he can move to another story. A few weeks later, the Mauler was back hurting people again and the cycle continued for quite some time."

"I’ll be your companion for this chapter of the SWF story. I’ll try to give you hindsight of what’s was really going on at that time and will pay tribute to my lost companions on the way. People were laughing at me in my early career as I was always carrying a small notepad with me, taking notes about people and events, but these notes are worth a lot now. They contain moments I will never forget, people that will never die in my hearth, stories that should be told… "

OCC : Credit goes to whoever did the render used here. It was named Andy Otto in my picture folder, but I can't seem to find the related worker. Worst case scenario : someone that will probably never appear in this story had his identity stolen ;)

I like this- this kind of retrospective dynasty always allows for more character stuff in my opinion. And Cverse 75 is an awesome data set, so this should be a fun piece of work.

And yeah, Andy Otto's a two bit brawler for 4C in '97. It's extremely unlikely that he'll turn up in the SWF

{We join Tim Carlton again near the dusty wrestling ring. His Mauler mask laying next to him.}

"There were three factions at that time and they drove the main stories : Ares’ Titans, Team Supreme and the All-Star Team."

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/ares75.JPGhttp://www.retrohockey.net/diary/hagarerikson75.JPGhttp://www.retrohockey.net/diary/baronvonrambis75.JPGhttp://www.retrohockey.net/diary/acemcqueen75.JPGhttp://www.retrohockey.net/diary/blackjack75.JPG

"Following his retirement, Ares Aegalus didn’t want to get out of the business. His long time nemesis was retired, he turned his attention to the champion Micky Starr. Aegalus banded together the two most dominant and brutal teams with only one goal in my mind : not only take the belt off Starr, but also end his career. Under his guidance, The Last Viking Hagar Erikson, Baron Von Rambis, collectively known for years as Team Doom, and the two times tag team champions Deadly Gamble, Ace McQueen and Black Jack, were terrorizing the Supreme universe under one banner : Ares’ Titans."

"It didn’t take long for some people to form a loose alliance with Micky Starr to try fighting on equal ground. Rick Rumble and his valet Beautiful Babette were the first to help Starr, but were soon joined by one the most successful tag teams, Joey and Teddy Flame, better know as The Blazin’ Flames. They simply went by the name of Team Supreme vowing to get rid of the Titans."

"Another group was making waves at that time : the All-Star Team. Many wrestlers were part of this team over time as Coach Dick Pangrazzio was always looking for the best pure athlete to realize his plans. Coach had a sweet spot for wrestlers that came from another sport, so it wasn’t surprising to anyone to see a former boxer, Iron Mike Milligan, a former pro football player, Frank Rock, a former collegiate star wrestler, Mitch Haggans, and a former baseball standout, Richie Pangrazzio Jr. As you might have guessed, Richie is Dick’s son. Rounding up the group was Enforcer McBride, a tough as nails guy unfortunately rather limited in the ring. "

"Although they weren’t an official faction per se, the Streets family was also very active. Part of the deal that brought Rocky Streets in SWF years ago, his two sons Dusty and Sid were also wrestling in the promotion. Rocky was winding down his single career, focusing on his backstage duty while watching his kids over their shoulders. "

Sunday Slamfest - Sept 75 1st Week

Sunday Slamfest

5000 people in the Shakeshaft Auditorium, Great Lakes area

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/bobjohnson75.JPG & http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/chaimsilverman75.JPG

Original commentary by Bob Johnson & Chaim Silverman

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/mickystarr75.JPG

{This week Slamfest edition starts with a band as the World Heavyweight champion, “Mighty” Micky Starr makes his way to the ring, belt on his shoulder. After clapping hands with a few fans at ringside, he asks for a mic.}

Micky Starr : “Patterson, in just four days, we will finally meet in the ring face to face. That’s true Patterson, this time, you will need to look me in the eyes unlike all your previous backstabbing attempts. I’ve had ups and downs, but you know why I’m still the champion after three years ? Because I’m simply the best at what I do. I come in this ring every week, I take on whatever challenger who wants a shot, whatever the devious Aegaleus throws at me… I never back down Patterson, ask my friends. When Rick thought he could beat me, I told him to meet me in the ring and may the best man win. It could have been you Patterson. I considered you my friend, I had tremendous respect for you, I would have granted you a shot at this belt any time, but you never asked for it. You preferred to listen to some odd people telling you that I was holding you down. It couldn’t be further from the truth. I was proud to have you by my side Patterson. I’ve had put my trust in you, but you made the wrong choice by letting these people get in your head. Now, you’re blind with jealousy and it will be your downfall. It’s no longer about the best man winning, it’s about me teaching you a lesson in respect. Patterson, at Warrior’s Pride, I’m walking in champion and I’ll walk out as champion. The only thing you’ll leave the ring with is the shame that you betrayed a friend for nothing.”

Teddy Flame (w/Beautiful Babette) vs Richie Pangrazzio Jr (w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio)

A decent midcard match with some 70s high flying moments. The match was unfortunately plagued with poor chemistry between each manager and their client. What a great way to start this diary… A fairly even contest until the Coach got under Teddy’s skin by jumping on the apron using his whistle as a distraction. By the time the referee could make him jump down, Richie had hit Teddy with a low blow followed by the Swing for the Fences (Front Russian Legsweep) making the three count academic. As they go back the ramp, Coach Dick is quick to point out it’s the same fate that awaits Teddy when he takes on his boys at Warrior’s Pride.

Winner by pinfall : Richie Pangrazzio Jr

{Rick Rumble is shown working around his house, fixing a pipe there, shoveling earth in a small garden there, cutting firewood on another occasion…}

“Nine months ago, Rick Rumble won a one night tournament to capture the vacant United States title. It was the first taste of glory for this every day’s man. Never afraid of hard work, Rumble spent a lot of time learning a few tricks from his friend Micky Starr. He defended successfully his title since his initial win by always finding a new way to get a saving second wind, but tonight, he faces a new kind of challenge…”

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/rjdanzig75.JPG

{Footage of November 1973 is shown as RJ Danzig defeats Iron Mike Milligan for the United States title. Also shown are his numerous successful title defenses.}

“For the first time, he will face a man who knows what it takes to be a champion. RJ Danzig had a great six months run as United States champions two years ago. Armed with this knowledge, Danzig will be an even more dangerous opponent than usual. You never know how this veteran will try to surprise you. He can brawl, he can take you to the mat, he can play with your mind… Tonight, Rick Rumble will face his tougher challenge yet in RJ Danzig !”

{Tyson Lang is working out in the locker room area. He’s throwing punches in the air in front of a mirror like the good old days. He’s so concentrated, he doesn’t hear or see someone coming behind him...}

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/ironmike75.JPG

Iron Mike : “Pathetic...”

{Lang stops his routine and turns around to face Iron Mike Milligan standing in the doorway.}

Lang : “Long time you’ve seen yourself in a mirror and felt commenting ?”

Iron Mike : “Don’t try to be funny Lang. It may work with some kiddies, but not with me. It’s pathetic how you think you can be a wrestler. You were a boxing failure and you’ll just embarrass yourself further.”

Lang : “And that’s coming from whom ? A former boxer that couldn’t get near a title belt... At least, I was a boxing champion !”

Iron Mike : “Then a real man stood in your way and knocked your teeth down your throat. You cowardly hide for almost two years in shame and now, all of a sudden, you’re trying to be a wrestler. I’m not a fool Lang, your little comedic spin two years ago around Eisen doesn’t make you a wrestler. I was already wearing gold at that point while making punks just like you scream in pain.”

Lang : “That’s all what you got Mike ? Talking trash about two years ago?”

Iron Mike : “You really don’t get it son… Next Thursday, Warrior’s Pride, be there. I’ll show you you’re not even near to be wrestling material”

{Milligan slowly walks away a confident smile under his mustache while Lang shakes his head in disbelief.}

Rocky Streets vs Corporal Doom

Corporal Doom is a fine young talent, he gets a decent amount of heat by playing a sadistic corporal, but at this point of his career he’s still learning his craft and didn’t stand a chance against an established mainstay. Rocky Streets quickly made the youngster submit to his Figure Four Leglock in about 5 minutes.

Winner by submission : Rocky Streets

Rating : C+

{Powerhouse Patterson makes his way to the ring for his upcoming match. He asks for a mic before the ring announcer could introduce the other participants.}

Patterson : “Stop lying Micky Starr. Everyone knows you can’t beat me and that’s why you never gave me a shot at your title. I’m no one’s sidekick, I don’t answer to anyone Starr. I tried to be a good guy by saving you countless times from the Titans foolishly thinking you would reward me. It took me some times, but I finally figured you’re keeping the belt by dodging the real threats making them your friends. Game’s over Micky, you won’t fool me again. I’m bigger, badder and simply better than you and at Warrior’s Pride, the World Title will be mine!

“Mighty” Micky Starr & Streets of Rage (Dusty & Sid) VS Powerhouse Patterson & Deadly Gamble (Ace & Black Jack) (w/Ares Aegaleus)

The original plan was to give Patterson some momentum going in Warrior’s Pride by getting the pinfall even if it was only on of the Streets, but Micky Starr blocked every scenario not including him getting the pinfall with his creative control. So the match felt a bit ackward in some moments, Patterson tried to look menacing and impressive, but this momentum was squashed as soon as Starr entered the ring. As expected, Starr made the pinfall on Ace McQueen after some nice double teaming by the Streets on his partner to clear the way. At least, we learned that Ares and Ace have pretty good chemistry together.

Patterson played his part very well and was merely inches away from breaking the pinfall. He kicked Starr in the ribs, quickly put his head between his legs and nailed him with a Powerbomb. As the Streets helped Starr to his feet, Patterson was backing the ramp motioning that the belt will soon be his.

Winner by pinfall : Starr & Streets of Rage

Rating : C+ for the match, B+ for the post-match taunt

SWF United States Title :

Rick Rumble (ch) (w/ Beautiful Babette) VS RJ Danzig

A tremendous main event and for once, the chemistry gods were on my side as these two meshed perfectly even if the match should have been a bit shorter to better suit Danzig. Both men traded momentum for the most part of the match, Rumble was able to block an Unholy Dive attempt from Danzig and chained a couple of big moves to gain the upper hand. It looked like the match might have been in the books after Rumble’s Crushing Running Axehandle, but Ares Aegaleus had other plans. He slowly walked down to the ring, pointing fingers and shouting insults at Rumble. He even tried a swing at Rumble which resulted in the referee trying to eject him from ringside. With the referee’s attention away, Team Doom hit the ring and nailed Rumble in the back. They clubbed him down just enough to soften him for a Double Powerbomb and rolled out of the ring. Ares finally backed down the aisle while a Danzig gathered enough energy to hit the Unholy Dive and win the US title for the second time.

Winner and new US champion : RJ Danzig

Rating : B-

{It’s not over folks ! Ares rushes back to the ring and orders Von Rambis and Erikson to beat down Rumble a little more. Babette is yelling desperately for help as Team Doom puts the boots on Rumble in a corner after a couple of Crushing Avalanches. Micky Starr finally runs in to save his friend from serious injuries. As the Titans walks back the aisle proud of what they just did, Richard Eisen appears behind them with a mic.}

Richard Eisen : Well, well, well.. Look what we’ve got here. Knowing Rick Rumble, he’ll probably seek revenge even if he’s is not physically ready, but don’t worry folks, I’m already way ahead of him. Since Hagar Erikson already has a match at Warrior’s Pride, it’s going to be Rick Rumble against… Baron Von Rambis in single action ! And Baron, the match will still be on even if Rumble is not at 100%.

{We close this week Sunday Slamfest edition with a zoom on a satisfied and confident Baron Von Rambis as Micky Starr is asking for medical aid to help his friend.}

Ratings : B- for the post match attack, C for the announcement

Overall Grade : B-

TV Ratings : 1.68

OOC : I'm not sure I'll keep the pictures for every angle in the long run, but for the moment, I needed a way for everyone to have a rough idea of the cast of characters.

Great first show, Monru! I've always wanted to see a 70's SWF diary as it's kind of the "beginning of it all"... Gives the SWF some depth. So far, you've done a great job of capturing what it would potentially feel like.

One thing, maybe you should keep the pictures in your segments though (as I know you said you may not) only because it helps the reader to know who you're talking about. ya know? Any sort of database outside out of the original cornellverse one could be new to your readers... So, pictures could def. help!

Push Tyson Lang! hah.

Warrior's Pride -Septemer 1975

Final card

SWF World Heavyweight title : "Mighty" Micky Starr (ch) vs Powerhouse Patterson

Micky Star is your "big gun"... I can't imagine that you would have him lose the title so soon after creating the diary.

Rick Rumble (w/ Beautiful Babette) vs Baron Von Rambis (w/ Ares Aegaleus)

Following the loss of the US Title, Rumble needs a "pick me up".

"King of the Ring" Tyson Lang vs "Iron" Mike Milligan (w/ Coach Dick Pangrazzio)

Tyson!!

"World Traveller" Walleye Conklin vs "The Last Viking" Hagar Erikson (w/ Ares Aegaleus)

To be honest, a guess... I don't know either guy but I like a good Viking. ha

SWF Tag Team Titles : Deadly Gamble (ch) (w/Ares Aegaleus) vs Streets of Rage (w/ Rocky Streets)

The US Title has already been exchanged to another superstar... I expect most of the titles to remain in the Champions hands due give the show some consistency

SWF United States title : RJ Danzig (ch) vs Burt Selleck

I would think that Rumble would get a re-shot here but RJ picks up the victory

Blazin' Flames vs American Made (Enforcer McBride & Mitch Haggans (w/Coach Dick Pangrazzio)

Again, guess..

Walleye Conklin's portrait

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/timcarlton.jpg

{Tim Carlton is closely monitoring a sparring between two young wrestlers in his ring.}

"Watch your step son ! Lex needs room to bounce back from the ropes and continue the sequence. "

{Carlton turns his attention to the camera while still keeping a loose eye on his students.}

"Oh yeah… Walleye"

http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/walleyeconklin75.JPG

"Don’t get me wrong, Walleye was a great guy. No one could really hate the guy, he legitimately cared about his opponents, was willing to teach a few things to youngsters and you could always count on him to ease tensions backstage. He was also a very reliable wrestler, he could get a good match out of anybody. He never complained about getting dirty, taking it to the mat for ten minutes or doing a bump from the top rope. He had a rather unusual approach to the business though…"

"You don’t see it really often these days and it’s now mostly a Japanese thing, but Walleye was openly freelancing all around the world. He proudly told many stories from far lands that most of us never dreamt of visiting. I still find hard to believe these days he really wrestled a polar bear in Antarctica… Anyway, Walleye was never around for long in a promotion. He believed that wrestling transcends cultures and languages; the same story could be told in New York, London or Tokyo with only a few minors adjustments to touch people. When Walleye put an end to his career, he was fairly known all-around the world, but he never got what he deserved : gold around his waist. Promoters were fairly hesitant to build any kind of long term plan around him fearing he’d back only in a couple of years on the other end of his travels. "

"Rocky Streets didn’t mind these so-called freelancers and we even had a couple of them on the roster by the end of 75 : Walleye, Danzig and McBride. He knew how to get most of them while they were here without going overboard with long term ideas. You could clearly see that Eisen wasn’t really fond on the whole concept though… Now, if you excuse me…"

{Carlton rolls in the ring shouting a few instructions to his students as we transition to the next segment.}

Original commentary by Bob Johnson & Chaim Silverman

{Tonight event begins with a familiar cohort heading to the ring. Ares Aegaleus leads his team to the ring under a good level of heat from the New England crowd.}

Ares : You all saw what happened last Sunday on television. We proved once again that we are the dominating force in this company. For too long, Rick Rumble stuck his nose in our business and we made him pay the price. Losing the United States is not enough though, the fury that burns inside my Titans is more important. Sunday, Rumble got a little taste of it, but tonight, he’s going to feel it completely when the Baron not only beat him, but puts him out of commission for a long time !

{Ares paces around the ring fully tasting the weight of his omen.}

Ares : It won’t be the sole demonstration of power tonight. Hagar will quickly dispose of Walley Conklin and send him back to his native Australia. Then, the tag champs, Ace and Black Jack will teach a lesson to the Streets kids their father should have told them years ago : do not bite more than you can chew! This finally brings us to Micky Starr.

{A “Micky” chant breaks in the arena.}

Ares : Yeah, cheer for him while it’s still possible. I don’t care who win tonight, Starr or Patterson, they’re only keeping the belt warm for one of my Titan. If for some reason Starr loses the belt tonight, that won’t put him of off our radar. Just like Rumble, it would only be the beginning of the end for Micky Starr!

{Ares laughs almost maniacally at this thought, then signal for his crew to walk back to the locker room area.}

SWF United States Title :

RJ Danzig (ch) vs Burt Selleck

Danzig makes his first title defense against the lady’s man, Burt Selleck. Overall, it was a good effort, but not a great one mostly because no one really bought in Selleck; it would have seemed odd that Danzig could lose the belt at the first hurdle. Selleck hit a couple of key moves here and there, but fell to the Unholy Dive at the 13th minute mark, once again, a couple of minutes too late for Danzig’s cardio.

Winner and still champion : Danzig

Rating : C-

{RJ Danzig does not leave immediately after the match and takes a mic from Bob Johnson. He breathes heavily as he talks…}

Danzig : All I week, I heard people saying that I win this title by luck. Let me tell you something, scumbags : you do not become a two times US champion by luck, it’s all about talent. I clearly outwrestled Rumble and the unfortunate events surrounding the match only quicken his demise, it was only a matter of time before I win the match. Now, when I go back up that aisle, you’ll show me the proper respect a two times US champion deserves!

{As you may have guessed, Danzig went to the back on a chorus of boos.}

Blazin’ Flames (Joey & Teddy) (w/Beautiful Babette) VS American Made (Enforcer McBride & Mitch Haggans) (w/Coach Pangrazzio)

Classic tag team action as the heels worked early on Teddy Flame, isolating him in a corner with quick tags. Haggans did most of the wore down while the Enforcer was beating him down with sheer power. As usual, Teddy finally created an opportunity and dived to his corner making the hot tag to Joey who cleared the ring with a quick chain of moves. A few minutes later, Joey hit the Blaze of Glory on Haggans to get a three count. After the match, the Blazin’ Flames asked Babette to climb in the ring and the trio danced for the enjoyment of the crowd, celebrating their win.

Winners by pinfall : Blazin’ Flames

Ratings : C- for the match, C- for the post match celebration

{As Rick Rumble’s theme plays, Bob Johnson leaves the announcing desk and makes his way towards the aisle. Rumble appears to still have a strained shoulder as he motions it slowly trying to get a better feel.}

Johnson : Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Rick Rumble and the lovely Babette! {warm round of applauses} Rick, everyone wants to know in what condition you are the brutal attack an the hands of Team Doom a few days ago

Rumble : I’ve seen better days Bob, but I’ve also seen far worse. My shoulder is hurting, my back is hurting, but that won’t stop me from getting my hands on Baron. I’ve learned to ignore some pain ya know, life wasn’t easy on the family farm, we had to work non-stop to feed everyone. You couldn’t just take a day off much like in wrestling. This little pain won’t stop me of doing my job and Von Rambis is on for one helluva of ride tonight !

Johnson : Thank you for your time Rick.

{Rumble and Babette wave to the crowd before heading to the back.}

”World Traveler” Walleye Conklin vs “The Last Viking” Hagar Erikson (w/Ares Aegaleus)

A pleasant surprise as once again, Conklin proved he’s a world-level talent and took out the best of his opponent. Erikson is no slouch himself, almost beating Micky Starr a few months ago. It was a fairly even contest, Conklin put his opponent in a nasty Camel Clutch for quite some time, but Erikson never gave up. At the 11th minute mark, Erikson hit the Viking Back Snapper almost out of nowhere and followed with a three count.

Winner by pinfall : Hagar Erikson

Deadly Gamble (ch) (w/ Ares Aegaleus) VS Streets of Rage (w/ Rocky Streets)

Deadly Gamble proved why they are the champions in this one taking control of the match early and really never losing it. The Streets had their moments, they took the champions off balance a couple of times, but in the end, they are not at their level yet neither they have the same experience. The champions won in 10 minutes with the Double Down, Rocky’s cheering were not enough for his sons.

Winners and still champion : Deadly Gamble

{The World Heavyweight champion Micky Starr makes his way to the ring, his belt real shined for this big event lying on his shoulder.}

Starr : Patterson, last Sunday, you proved to the world I was right. You can’t face me. You waited for the match to be over to finally do something and blindsided me. You didn’t impress anyone Patterson, you simply showed once again that tonight, there’s no chance you’ll take that belt. I don’t hit people from behind like you do, I face them and give back everything they throw at me just like any good American. You’ll thank me later for the lesson in humility and jealousy I’m about to give you.

{The champion goes to shake hands with some fans and he even takes a picture with a kid before heading to the back.}

“King of the Ring” Tyson Lang vs Iron Mike Milligan (w/Coach Pangrazzio)

That was one hell of a fight folks ! Forget about submission moves, mat sequences or swift high flying, these two simply tried to out brawl each other. They had a nice little boxing sequence mid-match until Milligan had enough and went for the knees. He worked on Lang’s legs for some time, but his ****y attitude gave Lang an occasion to mount a comeback and he didn’t miss it. Coach Pangrazzio sensed his man was in trouble and distracted the referee long enough for Enforcer McBride to run from the back and leveled Lang with a Big Boot. McBride and Milligan joined forces for a Flap Jack, then The Enforcer rolled out of the ring. Milligan hit his KO Combo Punches for good measures and this one was in the books.

Things were not really done though. McBride quickly re-entered the ring, almost shoving the referee out of the way. Milligan and he put the boots in Lang taking some fun in it. They threw him it out of the ring with brute strength before leaving the ring.

Winner by pinfall : Iron Mike Milligan

Ratings : B- for the match, C+ for the post-match beatdown

Rick Rumble (w/Beautiful Babette) vs Baron Von Rambis (w/Ares Aegaleus)

Rumble’s shoulder still looked sore coming in the match and Von Rambis took full advantage of it. In fact, on some occasions, you could arguably think Von Rambis was more looking to punish Rumble than winning the match. Unfortunately for him, Rumble is very resilient and fought back each time. Baron kinda lost it after many failed attempts of putting Rumble out. He cornered him and simply threw punches and chops relentlessly completely ignoring the referee’s count to five. The ref tried to stop him to only get shoved away which resulted in a DQ. Even Aegaleus couldn’t convince Von Rambis to stop.

Baron pressed slam Rumble hard in the middle of the ring and hit him with a Standing Splash. He threw him in a corner again and went for an Avalanche, but Rumble fell down to dodge it. Rumble threw his shoulder in the knee of his opponent to take him down with him. Both men were quickly up on their feet and wildly exchanged punches until Rumble saw an opening and leveled Baron with a Short Arm Lariat. As soon as he was back up, Rumble pushed him over the rope with another Clothesline. This time Aegaleus was able to restrain Von Rambis convincing him to fight another day.

Winner by DQ : Rick Rumble

Ratings : B- for the match with great chemistry, C+ for the post match shenanigans.

SWF World Heavyweight title :

“Mighty” Micky Starr (ch) vs Powerhouse Patterson

This potential great match turned out to be “only good” thanks to awful chemistry. Nonetheless, the crowd was fully in it, the heat on this story is pretty good. Let’s see how it ended…

Starr goes for haymaker, but it’s blocked by Patterson! Knee to the gut! Patterson rams the head of the champion against his knee. He slowly lifts him, looks like he’s going for his trademark Press Slam into Space.. no! Starr slides in Patterson’s back and pushes him in a corner ! Rollup… 1…2…shoulder up ! Wham ! Patterson quickly levels the champion with a vicious looking Clothesline and goes for a quick cover…1…2..kick out ! The challenger throws the champion into the rope and goes for a Flying Shoulder Tackle, but misses! Starr grabbed the rope and stopped his momentum! It looks like it took the wind out of the challenger. Starr clubs him in the back, he’s signaling for it, Starr Treatment incoming… noes ! Micky Starr is blind sided by a Forearm Smash by Hagar Erikson ! The referee immediately calls for the bell.

Erikson connects with Bulldog on the champion as Ares Aegaleus also slides in the ring. The champion gets to his feet, but he’s quickly seized by Ares who locks his arms behind his back. Erikson punches Starr which quickly winds him down. Both men club the champion down… The Iceland Stretch (STF) is now locked on the champion! Ares even puts some boot in Starr’s back. Finally, officials lead by Rick Rumble rushes the ring. Ares and Erikson want none of it and run out not without crossing a rather furious Patterson who just broke the announcing table out of frustration.

Winner by DQ and still champion : Micky Starr

Ratings : B- for the match, A for the post match attack.

OVERALL GRADE : B-

which is exactly our popularity in New England

The writing of the next show has been delayed by real life issues, so there's plenty of time if anyone want to make predictions or just add a general comment on the first two shows. Next TV broadcast should be up at some point Wednesday afternoon (US Eastern Time).

We hoped for slightly better from four of our top guys. At least they know how to tell a story and they kept going at each other. Team Doom focused on the potentially still injured Rumble, isolating him in their corner for several minutes before he could catch a breath and dive in his corner to make the tag. Starr entered the ring and cleared it like the champion he is. Ares wanted to stop his momentum by climbing on the apron and throwing insults at him. While the referee tried to force him down, Hagar Erikson grabbed a chair and went in the ring as Von Rambis broke a Starr Treatment attempt. Von Rambis tried to throw the champion towards his partner for a chair shot to the head, but Starr reversed it and the Baron tasted some steel! At this point, Rumble recovered just enough energy to run in and shove Erikson over the ropes. The champion hit his Starr Treatment on Baron, Rumble got the referee’s attention and the three count was academic. This week Slamfest concludes as Micky Starr and Rick Rumble celebrated their victory with the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners : Rumble & Starr</strong></p><p><strong> Rating : C+</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;"> OVERALL GRADE : C+ </span> (d’oh…) </p><p> Ratings : 1.59</p><p> </p><p> <strong>UP NEXT : A few words on the newcomers</strong></p>

<p>Kelso, Dave and Dixie introduction</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/timcarlton.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">“Richard Eisen was always on the hunt for more talents, so it was no surprise to anyone to see some faces in September 75. Kelso and Morris were not big names at that time, but they were useful on a roster. More importantly, they were coming from APWF.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/richardeisen.JPG</span></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

“We didn’t have a development territory in these days, we had several” continued Richard Eisen with a big grin on his face. “Our position was still weak in some aspects and people were still raving about our future demise and the return of the old territorial system. To keep us afloat, I had a very simple strategy : let the others teach the basics, let them build some popularity… and offer big money to the key guys.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

“Simple yet effective. We had a constant influx of talented men without putting a single dollar in their development and we were making sure to cut the legs of the competition. I wasn’t making friends, but I was not looking for any. Some people like Lambert took it personal and it was always a guilty pleasure to bring his guys in.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/timcarlton.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/wademorris75.JPG</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

“So Morris was never billed a future world champion, but he was a solid midcard asset. He spent years in the territories teaming with Burt Selleck as the Mustache Dream Team. A comedy team on the outside, but a well oiled tag team machine if you looked closely at them. Morris was not a top dog in APWF either, but Richard basically broke their main tag team at the time.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/babyfacedave75.JPG</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

“Dave Kelso was a strange bird. He surfed his first pro years on a teen idol persona, but he beat it to death to the point no one cared about him. He was trying to find a new niche in APWF, but the promotion was not the right place for it. He saw in SWF a chance to reinvent himself and Eisen saw another opportunity to take a jab at Lambert with an above average wrestler.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/georgedecolt.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

A surprise appearance on a SWF product, the founder and owner of CGC, George DeColt : “In these days, APWF was a shelf of what it used to be and rotten to the core by petty politics. Terry Lambert was in charge as his dad had personal issues to deal with. Terry was basically using the company to promote himself, a bad business decision since the fans didn’t like him at all and he was a rather poor worker.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

DeColt shakes his head in disbelief : “Terry had the audacity to bury Dan Stone, one the best wrestler in that time. He humiliated him in many ways, but the final stroke was putting the belt on an unproven rookie, Marcus McKing. Don’t get me wrong, Marcus is a great guy now, but he was young, bold, ****y and simply put, immature in 1975. When I failed to restore some balance and was buried too, everyone understood APWF was no longer a great place to work. Dave Kelso was only the first of many to try his luck elsewhere.”</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/timcarlton.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/dixiediamond75.JPG</span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

“There was also a new woman in the company in Dixie Diamond. One hell of a wrestler, probably one of the best American wrestlers. She had the skills, the look and the talking abilities many wrestler, men and women, dream to have. Why she was hired in is still a mystery. All she could do in Supreme was backstage duties or maybe play a valet, but what good would it do to her career ? There were a lot of crazy rumors floating around after her signing. We were joking behind Richard’s back that he fell in love with Dixie and simply wanted to have her near him at all costs “ concludes Carlton with a large smile. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><span>http://www.retrohockey.net/diary/richardeisen.JPG</span></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:'Century Gothic';"><span style="font-size:12px;">

“I’m not going to comment on that…”</span></span></p>
