Here is an opinion: Every day, week, month that this game is not released is additional (as well as future) sales/ potential customers lost. Expectations will also increase but at some point lose relevance. Not trying to bash anyone, but we are now 40 days past the initial promised release date. Does anyone else think that this is not good for business?

I want the game out as bad (probably worse) than you, but whining on a message board about it is going to do nothing to make it better.

Actually, I think it that putting out a buggy product would have a more significant adverse effect than the delay in releasing the product. Remember the core audience for this game will play mutiple seasons of the game within a week, the release does not have to be align with the college football season. I honestly don't care when the game is released, I just want it to be done right. I don't want to beta test a game I purchased.

I work for a fortune 500 company, and we've had to delay our software releases by several months at a time. The damage that would have been done by providing our clients with the software "as is" would have been much worse than the embrassment of having to push back the release date. Many companies don't provide release dates at all, precisely to avoid this catch 22. To summarize, none of this is unusual. Arlie is certainly making the right business decision. That's all that really matters.

I recall "we are shooting for..." but I don't recall hearing "we will release on". C'mon now, I'm as upset as anyone, but they never promised anything. And also, if you expected it to be on time, you obviously haven't dealt with GreyDog or .400 before. In reality, and I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this one, but I think that GreyDog should postpone the release until Early August of next year. Take the time to get the game all worked out and release it when the hype for the new season will be the highest. It's all about marketing, and I think waiting would be best for GreyDog, although they have more loyalty to their customers than most if not all software companies.

I think a missing piece here for some people is the fact that if the game is good, people will buy it eventually. Some will buy it within minutes after it is released, no matter what time of year that is. Others will get a college football bug on Conference Championship weekend and buy it then. Still others will be bored over Christmas break and purchase. With New Years' Day falling on a Sunday, some will be off on Monday, January 2nd, all pumped about college football, and buy it then. Others will get pumped about their favorite team's recruiting class on the first Wednesday in February, and buy then. Some will get pumped about college football again because of the spring game, and buy it then. Some will get excited when the freshmen report to school in June for summer classes and weight training, and want a college football game. Casual (read: weenie) gamers won't be moved to buy a college game until next August/September when the next season rolls around, but if BBCF is a good game, they'll buy it then. Regardless, if the game is good, people will eventually buy it.

Another buggy game from Arlie would really put a hurt on his future game development. So far, I have bought both his college basketball game and his pro football game and both had rough starts. However, they both ended up being pretty good games in the end. The delay also is a cause for concern. Too me, a delay this long could be that major bugs were discovered late in the beta test process that are taking a while to fix. Which could result in more bugs causing even more delay and a buggy game at release. However, I am hoping it means that Arlie is really fine tuning this game and it will be really good at release. I guess we all will just have to wait to find out. Hopefully, it wont be much longer. Think Positive! At least the game is closer to release today than it was yesterday.

Well we have learned that some people want this game way too much, especially since they are making up lies. It's been said over and over that NOBODY promised a release date of any kind. They were shooting for a release date of Q3, it didn't happen. Oh well, suck it up, and get over it. I'd much rather have a game delayed for months, and be a great quality game with very few bugs, than have a game released before it should be, with lots of bugs. Some people need to get a clue, and a life.

So please come down off of your "fanboy soap box" and understand that timing and keeping to a scheduled release date are also important aspects in releasing a successful product! So while I can appreciate your blind loyalty to Arlie, please do not use it to espouse denigrating remarks that only end up making you look somewhat judgmental....
Arlie already admitted that September 30th was the original release date of this game.
I admitted after the fact that it was an internal release target for us. Obviously, events made us miss that release but it's not like back in July i was saying we would have a hard release of Sept 30. We were targeting a release in the third quarter - but it didn't happen. The BETA is going very well and we are in the process of entering our final testing phase. There are a few areas I want to get more validation on and it will not be released until I feel good about them. Again, for people chomping at the bit I advise to keep asking questions. I try and put in a few minutes everyday answering different game-related questions to help you guys get a better idea on what BBCF will be like.
