World Heavyweight Champion Signs

TNA has come to terms on the procurement of a former World Heavyweight champion who will make his presence known at Victory Road as of today, July 23rd, 2009. TNA is delighted to welcome him to the roster with immediate effect.

 

Speculation is rife as to the man's identity. Bookmakers current favourite is Goldberg, whilst mention has been made of Vader, Ultimate Warrior and Lex Luger, all of whom are presently free agents. Outside bets are being taken on the arrival of Ric Flair, Steve Austin or The Rock in TNA.

DW:- “You’ve got to ask yourself whether Sting is even fit to compete after the beatdown he took at the hands of the Mafia last week on Impact Mike.”

Abyss defeated Rhino via pinfall with a Black Hole Slam following botched interference from Raven.

After the match, Abyss starts shaking and slapping Rhino desperately trying to break him from his trance. Something appears to click in Rhino and he wakes up...as he freaks out Abyss helps him up and says he’s got a lot of explaining to do.

Samoa Joe defeated Leaga via submission in a brutal fifteen minute Hell in a Cell match with a rear naked choke.

Lauren interviews Sting backstage who says that last week’s beatdown by the Mafia has left him in a pretty bad state but that he’s more focussed than ever. First he’ll deal with Morgan, then Jarrett and then Kurt Angle and the Mafia will have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

Matt Morgan defeated Sting by pinfall. Despite Jeff Jarrett getting ejected from ringside, his guitar was left beside the ring and as the referee’s back was turned, Kurt Angle came down the ramp and smashed the guitar over Sting’s head. As Sting struggled to his feet, Morgan near decapitated him with a vicious Carbon Footprint.

Ken Anderson defeated Kurt Angle via cage escape on eighteen minutes to win the TNA World Heavyweight Title. As Anderson and Angle crawled towards the cage door, Angle reached it first but as he tried to crawl out, Sting came through the crowd and slammed the cage door on Angle’s head allowing Anderson to escape first and win the title as Sting escaped back out through the crowd closely followed by the Main Event Mafia who are too late to catch him.

RATING: B+

 

As Anderson stumbles to his feet, Angle clocks him in the back of the head with the World Title. Angle, Nash, Booker and Steiner throw him back into the cage and continue his beatdown.

Brock Lesnar’s music plays throughout the arena and the former World Champion comes charging down to the ring. As he enters the cage, The Mafia back up. As they circle the ring, the Mafia duck out of the cage. Lesnar helps Anderson to his feet, but as he does so, picks Anderson up and F5’s Anderson in the centre of the ring!!! Brock mounts the cage as the Mafia re-enter the ring and applaud his actions. Is Brock Lesnar the newest member of the Mafia?!
