<p><strong>British Lions w/ Laura Huggins</strong> vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Mikey James</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The new enforcers made quite an impact on their debut but I don't see them getting one over one of the best tandems in TCW. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Kirk Jameson vs. <strong>Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Can Kirk Jameson pull off the upset to end all upsets?- Simple answer,No. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Eternal Party vs.<strong> Kreed w/ Blonde Bombshell</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Eternal Party are far from jobbers, but I see them more as two individuals who occasionally tag than a genuine force in the tag division- which former champions Kreed are. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily vs. <strong>Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Ino will fail against Remo and Thunder Snake will not be able to restrain himself from showing how much he enjoys it. </em></p><p> </p><p>

GROUP B</p><p>

<strong>Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch</strong> vs. Painful Procedure (Troy Tornado & the Young Guns)</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Troy's the most over of anyone in the match, but then again The Young Guns despite their best efforts are still glorified jobbers- perhaps if TCW hasn't now signed half the wrestling world they could have climbed a little higher up the card- I just see this benefitting the Easy Riders more to advance to the next round, as people long stopped taking the Young Guns all that seriously anyway. </em></p><p> </p><p>

GROUP D</p><p>

<strong>Darkwave (Jack Bruce, Sammy Bach & Zimmy)</strong> vs. Extreme Measures (Eddie Peak & the New Wave)</p><p> </p><p>

<em>One of the toughest matches to call in the entire first round, if you were doing Bracketology these would be like the 8th and 9th seeds in a 16 man bracket. Bit of a coin toss to be honest, but I'll tip Darkwave to advance on the back of the fact that they actually seem to be moving forward a little of late. </em></p><p> </p><p>

<p><strong>British Lions w/ Laura Huggins</strong> vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Mikey James</p><p>

<em>Like Tigerkinney said Smith and James has been impressive so far but British Lions are too established for them yet.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Kirk Jameson vs. <strong>Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell</strong></p><p>

<em>Nice and easy there´s no way that Jameson would win this one</em></p><p> </p><p>

Eternal Party vs. <strong>Kreed w/ Blonde Bombshell</strong></p><p>

<em>I agree with Tigerkinney here, Kreed are just doing more in tag division</em></p><p> </p><p>

Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily vs. <strong>Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert</strong></p><p>

<em>Ino just isn´t on the same level</em></p><p> </p><p>

GROUP B</p><p>

<strong>Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch</strong> vs. Painful Procedure (Troy Tornado & the Young Guns)</p><p>

<em>I was going to go with Painful Procedure but so far you had face/heel pairings and with Outlaws being on next round that would mean that heels advance here</em></p><p> </p><p>

GROUP D</p><p>

Darkwave (Jack Bruce, Sammy Bach & Zimmy) vs.<strong> Extreme Measures (Eddie Peak & the New Wave)</strong></p><p>

<em>Close match but just like last one there´s heel team on next round so faces advance here. Maybe Procedure and Darkwave will cost each other´s these matches?</em></p><p> </p><p>

TCW Tag Championships</p><p>

GenOme © w/ Phil Vibert vs. <strong>the Machines</strong></p><p>

<em>You know I actually take the bait here, Machines have been little lost and this would be a good way to put them back on map.</em></p>

British Lions w/ Laura Huggins vs. Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Mikey James

This would be a bridge too far, I think. They've been doing well, but not THIS well.

Kirk Jameson vs. Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell

Hahahaha... no.

Eternal Party vs. Kreed w/ Blonde Bombshell

Tricky. I think I'll go with my boys.

Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Ino is strong, but Remo needs to retain his monster cred.

GROUP B

Easy Riders w/ Carl Batch vs. Painful Procedure (Troy Tornado & the Young Guns)

As has been said already, the Young Guns are the weak link here. I don't think they're quite jobbers, but the Easy Riders are stronger as a unit.

GROUP D

Darkwave (Jack Bruce, Sammy Bach & Zimmy) vs. Extreme Measures (Eddie Peak & the New Wave)

Tough to call... I'm going to go for a slight upset and say The New Wave pull out some shenanigans here.

Like Kinney, I would not be surprised to see a switch here, but it would kind've disappoint me in terms of the build to the match.

British Lions w/ Laura Huggins vs. Bulldozer & Dragon

The lines on this match are extremely well defined; here's the team with power, here's the team with experience and ring savvy.

The Lions have their work cut out for them here, but it's the same kind of challenge that they've faced before, from foes like the Easy Riders and Golden Law. While Mikey James' quickness adds a new aspect to it, they nonetheless know what they're doing and what problems they face.

And they certainly have problems – the strength and brutality of their opponents – but in the end, O'Curle sends James crashing to the outside. With Morgan tagged in, the Bulldozer learns to take advantage – but Morgan counters the Backdrop Driver to a Wigan Wrench, earning a quick submission.

Kirk Jameson vs. Sam Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell

A slower contest, this one, and Jameson has a small smile on his lips throughout his contest with the legend.

But while Jameson has a speed advantage, his hero worship is a factor Keith is able to play into and against, feinting toward the Proton Lock to get Jameson in position for the Neutron Plex, pinning him handily.

The camera goes back to the locker rooms next. Jack Bruce is sat opposite Sammy Bach and Zimmy.

“...is how you take down Eddie Peak,” Bruce says. “So that leaves the New Wave's teamwork, and- Sammy, pay the **** attention.”

Bach looks back, silent, and grins. The grin of a psychopath who's just locked the policewoman in with him. The grin of a man who's sleeping with Emma Chase and knows that you aren't.

But he doesn't speak.

Jack gives it another few seconds, leaving the implication hanging in the air, but Sammy still doesn't respond. He sighs. “You know, if you hadn't blown off the last meeting to go tagging with Matthew Keith, we wouldn't be doing this last-minute and interrupting your pre-match rituals, now would we?”

Again, Bach smiles, saying nothing.

“You know,” Zimmy says, breaking the silence, “he does that kind of a lot.”

“What?”

“Tag up with randoms. And he's always out drinking with one guy or another – he sees Hawkins a fair bit, Matt Keith and him are tight, he was around Champagne Lover all Hotter than Hell weekend...

“I think he used to hang with Joey Minnesota, too.”

“Nothing wrong with that,” Bruce says. “None of us spend all our time with the band.”

“No, don't get me wrong. It's not a problem. Just he does spend more time tagging with other people probably than the rest of us put together.”

Eternal Party vs. The Kreed w/ Blonde Bombshell

Stone and Reed start the match, exchanging wristlocks both on their feet and on the mat. After a few quick shifts of power and momentum, Art gets the upper hand, and transitions into a headscissors takedown – headscissors lock.

“This is real traditional House of Stone stuff,” Fry says. “Virtually no one nowadays is willing to use these holds – but that's not because they're not effective. It's because they're among the toughest to learn to apply properly.

“Dan Senior helped to train both these men, and he's now finally a man of leisure – and they will both want to honour him. If you're a student of wrestling history, or simply a fan of TCW's technicians, then don't go anywhere – because this is going to be a barnstormer.”

It takes him a few tries, but Edd escapes, promptly trapping one of Reed’s legs with both of his. In response, Art grabs Stone’s leg, looking to shift position for leverage.

Edd starts talking; he's not in clear range of the ring cameras' mic pick-ups, so exactly what he's saying goes unrecorded, but Art changes tack, looking for a wristlock instead – and Edd uses that leverage, together with the leg hold, to boost Art into the air, releasing both holds and dropping Art to apply a grapevined bodyscissors.

“You forget, sometimes, that Edd Stone knows his tactical, technical wrestling,” Saunders says thoughtfully. “But he's a Stone.”

Art manages to slip clear, hitting the ropes now and getting a flying crossbody, but Edd rolls through – ONE, TWO – Art pops out and grabs a wristlock again – twists the arm, stepping behind, and hooks the other, holding Edd from behind, his shoulders wrenching out of true.

Edd staggers toward his corner, desperately seeking to tag in his ally – but Reed has too much control, dragging him back. The young Stone musters all he has, jumping forward and kicking backward with both feet, mule-stomping at 90 degrees to the horizontal, into Art's gut.

That breaks the hold and Edd rolls forward for his corner, getting the tag. Missile dropkick from Lover sends Reed flying back to the ropes. He hits the middle rope awkwardly, tumbling over it and out to the floor – and Greg Keith steps into the ring. Sam Sparrow makes no objection.

“What is it with the referees and the tag rules lately?” Springsteen asks.

Lover charges for Keith, who sidesteps it neatly, grabbing a full nelson before sweeping Lover's legs out from under him and driving him face-first into the mat. Immediate pin – one, two – no! Champagne Lover gets a shoulder up, returning to his feet fast.

Punch attempt – Greg blocks it, trapping Lover's arm under his. The Mexican retaliates in straightforward fashion, with a driving headbutt, freeing his arm. Greg, driven back a step, shakes his head to clear it then swings a punch of his own – and Lover catches it, locking Greg into a full nelson of his own!

He holds it for a few, then lifts Greg into the air, starting to shake him – but the two are still close to the corner, and Greg uses that lift to get his feet to the middle rope – then the top, then springs off in an arc, driving Lover's head into the mat.

He collapses into a ball for a few moments with the effects of the manoeuvre on his shoulders, but then rolls, dropping out of the ring, and Art Reed comes off the top turnbuckle, driving a knee into the back of Lover's head, before rolling him over – ONE, TWO, THR-

Edd Stone's leg comes crashing down across the back of Reed's head, breaking the pin neatly. He drags Art back up, and looks for a suplex – Reed lands on his feet and goes straight for the far side of the ring. Edd sets for a backdrop, and Art leapfrogs him, bundling Lover out of the ring with a lariat before rebounding – Edd drops to the mat this time, Reed vaulting over him – and Edd meets him with a dropkick!

He grabs Reed's legs, going for the Stone Hold, but the former tag champion still has the strength and wherewithal to throw him off with a wrench to the side. Reed kips up, and looks for a powerbomb -

“DON'T DO IT, ART!” Fry yells, overcome by sudden partisanship. Reed lifts him nonetheless – Stone inevitably counters to the Party's Over – but Art was already dropping to his back, bringing his knees up, and as Edd sits out, he sits out on a double-knee, leaving him down and out.

Reed makes the cover – ONE, TWO, THRE-

Lover yanks Art out of the ring from the outside, then nails him – an uppercut to drive him back a step, and a superkick as soon as he has range.

And then Greg Keith sails back into the picture, vaulting off the steel steps to drive Lover into the floor with a blockbuster. Immediately, he dives back into the ring, covering the still prone Edd – ONE, TWO, THRE- NO!

With the ten or eleven seconds Lover bought, Edd Stone had just enough time to recover and get the shoulder up. He grabs an armlock as Greg hesitates, rolling him over with the keylock applied, pressuring Keith's shoulders to the mat – ONE, TWO -

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/CanadianElemental.jpg

Canadian Elemental is suddenly present at ringside, and Edd releases the hold to go after him. Elemental sidesteps the suicide dive, but Stone manages to convert in mid-air, landing on his feet. He nails a superkick and promptly...

“I don't want to call that,” Fry says. “My teenage boy, he plays Modern Warfare all the time and he says it's the done thing when you've killed someone. But it's just disrespectful.”

Meanwhile, Reed has rolled Champagne Lover back into the ring. Greg starts to lift him up – Lover throws his hand up, breaking the hold – boot to the gut – Lover Stunner – no! Greg shoves him into the ropes – rebound – SMALL PACKAGE! ONE, TWO, TH- NO!

Champagne Lover kicks out and promptly looks to take Greg's head off with a short-arm lariat – ducked, schoolboy – ONE, TWO – NO! And this time, a dropkick interrupts Greg's momentum. Lover boosts off the second rope – kneedrop to the head! Cover! ONE, TWO – NO!

Frustrated, Lover adjusts his position, standing now with that knee over Greg's throat. He kicks off the second rope again -

- Art Reed hops up with the top rope and gets a kick in, knocking Lover backward -

Greg bounces back to his feet. A charge – Lover ducks – neckbreaker in response by Greg – PROTON LOCK!

Edd finally realises there's trouble in the ring and scrambles back toward it – and Elemental nails him from behind, running along the crowdrail to nail the Thrill Seeking Missile. There will be no rescue.

He struggles, but Champagne Lover has to tap out.

Back from commercial, and Autumn Gleeson's smiling face joins the viewer. “Welcome back to a fantastic Saturday Night Showcase,” she begins. “For those of you just tuning in, I'm afraid you missed a truly great tag team exhibition – but stay tuned; between the Three Kings Tournament and the upcoming tag team championships main event between GenOme and the Machines.

“And speaking of the Three Kings Tournament – with me now are Matthew Keith and the Elite Express, entered in the tournament as the Kings of Wrestling.”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/BobbyThomas_jhd.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/MatthewKeith.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/NateJohnson_jhd1.jpg

“Matthew, you and your team are through to the quarter-finals. We now know, of course, that you're up against the Three Amigos. You've clashed in the recent past with Amigo Chris Rockwell over his Hard-Hitting Championship, so you know at least something of your opponents' style, but some of our fans have tipped them for the win. How do you-”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/GregGauge-1.jpg

“Sorry to interrupt, Autumn.” Greg Keith pushes into shot. Matt glares.

“Listen, Matt... I've been keeping well out of this,” Greg continues. “You always wanted to outperform me. I don't have a problem with that, because I always caught you up, and I usually had more fun doing it.

“Maybe this time you'll outpace me properly. I don't much care, right now; I've got my whole career ahead of me.

“And if you want to mess your throat up with the Mist... hell, I was the one who got caught smoking, remember?” He grins sardonically. “The one who got caught, anyhow.

“I can handle you going off the rails again.

“But you're dragging the whole family into a mess with the Stones... and none of us need that. You just used Edd and Duane so you'd get the Stones pissed with Art, didn't you?”

Matt grins.

“Well, that's messing with my career, Matt. I've got no problem with you cheating so you can say you're better than me, but don't go screwing me over.

“I don't much want to have to school your sorry ass again. It got old by the time we were fifteen.”

He turns to face Autumn. “You can carry on now,” he says. “Sorry again.”

The two of them exchange a smile as he moves off. Matt clears his throat. “Alright. Fine. What was the question?”

Autumn's smile becomes bashful. “Well, actually... I'm afraid we're out of time.”

Koshiro Ino w/ Baroness Emily vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

It would probably have been worth sticking around to hear Matthew's opinions on things, however, as Remo and Ino couldn't find the pace throughout this combat, and what could have been a very entertaining brawl was relegated to the 'pretty good' leagues.

Ino takes a pounding early on, but unlike many of Remo's victims, manages to rally, holding himself together and unleashing a thunderous series of punches, each one a hammer blow, to get back into it.

A whip to the ropes and a big boot later, it looks like the Kobra Commander has a shot at doing the very rare, and when he spinebusters Remo only to keep hold of him, rise from his knees, and hit a belly-to-belly suplex, the crowd do wake up. He drags Remo back to his feet and whips him to the ropes, calling for the Kobra's Bite – and Remo drops to his knees a pace ahead of where the move would hit, grabs Ino's wrist, and yanks him into a hammerlock.

He proceeds to work the hold for a good minute or so, interspersing arm wringers and punches to the shoulder, before whipping Ino to the turnbuckle, meeting him with an immediate lariat and switching sides. With both arms severely weakened, he hits the Destroyer.

And then he pins Ino with a foot to the chest only. It's still enough; the Kobra simply can't get his shoulder up.

Painful Procedure

Speaking of good, entertaining brawls...

The audience wakes up to the anything-could-happen atmosphere of this one round about when Sayeed Ali gets a buckle bomb on Troy Tornado.

Sure, when he looks for the GBH Driver, Tornado finds a counter, cartwheeling and careening into a Tornado Driver – but the Riders are there before the former world champion can capitalise.

And it's not Billy Fonda's fault that, when he whips Tornado to the ropes, Troy comes off with a Star Maker – but regardless, Hopper and Sayeed are there to break up that pin, beating Troy down with a double- and then a treble- team.

By the time the Guns get a say in the match, the Riders look downright dangerous.

Harry Allen puts a brief fly in the ointment, deliberately allowing Fonda and Hopper to position him for the Emergency Stop – and converting the neckbreaker half into a Gunslinger's Revenge on Hopper, while kicking Fonda clear of his attempted powerbomb assist.

It looks good for Allen – until Ali comes in with a roaring elbow to cut him off. With Gumble in, it's savate versus street fighting...

A rollicking good brawl to watch but clearly painful to be part of, it ends due solely to the Riders' greater cohesion; they're able to co-ordinate, dumping Tornado, dropping Allen with a GBH Driver, and then securing a pinfall on Gumble with the Emergency Stop.

Darkwave

A little faster, some more aerial measures, and definitely more technical savvy from all involved, but there's nothing in this that doesn't have the same intensity and energy as the previous match. Consequently, it's even better received by the crowd.

The big highlights; Zimmy going for the Blood Rush on Scout mid-dash, only to be cut off by a Guided Missile; Bach's coast-to-coast bulldog turned into a two-man takedown, bringing down both of the New Wave; Eddie Peak suplexing Zimmy and Bruce simultaneously; Zimmy and Sammy holding Peak down, the steel steps resting on his back and head, as Bruce delivers the New York Minute onto the steps; the Wave hitting the Wave of Mutilation onto a Bruce who's sprawled on the steel steps mid-ring, and of course the finish.

Just after that huge Wave of Mutilation, Bach superkicks Scout out of the ring. He turns around into a Guided Missile, only for Zimmy to nail the Blood Rush onto Guide as he recovers from hitting his own big move – and Eddie Peak promptly grabs him, smashing him onto his team captain with the Peak of Perfection.

In what looks to be a deliberate attempt to one-up Remo's pin earlier, Peak puts his foot on Zimmy on Bach, securing the pin.

GenOme © w/ Phil Vibert vs. The Machines

Davis and Anderson start off with a fierce lock-up. Anderson grabs a cravate. Davis turns it into an armlock, but Anderson knees Davis in the mid-section and clubs him on the back.

Davis side steps an attack in the corner and monkey flips Anderson onto his stomach. Davis cartwheels into an armdrag, which sends Anderson to the floor.

Brent tags in, and Davis tags in Perez in immediate response. Perez kicks Brent and runs the ropes into an armdrag. Brent dumps him with a back suplex and stomps away. Brent kicks away at Perez’s back and head.

Perez catches a kick, blocking, fights to his feet, and kicks Brent in the head and face. He promptly snapmares Brent down into a headscissors. In comes DWN and he twists on Brent’s arm. He sweeps his leg and applies a modified bridging half crab, but Anderson breaks the hold.

Perez comes back in and puts Brent in a grapevine stretch, then transitions to a bridging half crab.

Brent elbows free before armdragging him down to the mat. Brent hits a legdrop and goes for a quick cover, but only gets two. Perez retaliates with a boot to the gut, a boot to the back of the head, and comes off the ropes for a victory roll – ONE, TWO, NO!

Davis and Anderson tag in. Davis takes Anderson down into a rolling schoolboy for two. Anderson pops free and nails Davis on the rise with an uppercut. Davis rolls clear and armdrags Anderson to the corner. Anderson promptly chops his way free before nailing a spinebuster – cover – Davis kicks out at two, bailing from the ring for a few seconds to catch his breath.

Perez promptly charges across the ring, nailing John with a running kick to the back of the head in the style of Eisaku Kunomasu. Davis takes the opportunity to hop back onto the apron, but Ray Johnson doesn't let him enter until Perez has left the ring again – despite Phil Vibert's protestations.

“There's that odd tag rule situation again,” Springsteen remarks. “I do wonder what's going on there...”

Springboarding in off the top rope, Davis takes Anderson down with a headscissors, but his partner is able, as always, to react, tagging in blind off a flying leg as John whizzes past.

He comes in fired up, nailing Davis with three chops before firing off a series of dropkicks that drive Davis back to his corner – which of course draws the tag from Perez, who whips Brent to the ropes hard enough that he gets tied up between middle and top.

Frankie takes a moment to look at Davis, and the two run toward their quarry simultaneously.

Frankie hits a dropkick to the abdomen while Davis, grabbing the ropes, uses them as momentum to deliver a huge kick to the back of Brent's head, at the cost of tumbling to the floor outside the ring as the Machine, freed from the ropes by the impact, staggers forward and faceplants.

Frankie covers – ONE, TWO – Anderson breaks it up with a diving double axehandle.

Frankie gets to his feet and Anderson suplexes him, before whipping him to the ropes. Brent meets him with a dropkick, then goes for the Complete Package. Frankie squirms, finally getting a foot to the ropes to rescue himself, but Brent keeps the hold applied, rolling them both into the centre of the ring. It's left to Davis to break the hold – a tag belt slides into the ring to end up near the hold, and while Johnson is clearing it away, Davis rolls into the ring behind him, nailing Brent with the other before tossing it to Vibert, who disposes of the evidence adroitly.

Anderson, of course, comes in off that despicable behaviour, catching Davis with a lariat before delivering an inverted atomic drop to Frankie Perez, grabbing his trunks, and running at the ring ropes, sending the P-Dawg flying over them to wipe out Vibert on the outside as he lands.

He turns back, sees Davis coming for him again, ducks the attack and meets him on the rebound with a jumping cutter – not something often seen in the Machines' repertoire. Meanwhile, Brent Hill has rolled to the outside to recover.

As Newton picks himself up Anderson cuts him off with a punch to the gut and sets up for the Ammo Dump. He takes a moment to look around at the crowd, who roar encouragement, wanting to see the Machines triumph here, but it's a moment too long – Davis drops to his knees and delivers a headbutt, maybe to the gut, maybe the groin.

The production crew do a masterful job of not quite demonstrating either way. The GenOme man is freed, and shoots up to his feet, grabbing a headhold and twisting over into a neckbreaker. The sound is almost drowned out by the crowd's frustration as the young 'Triple Threat' ascends to the top turnbuckle. He comes off with a corkscrew front flip senton, and immediately covers – ONE, TWO -

Somehow, from somewhere, Anderson found the presence of mind to hook an arm and twist, and Davis finds himself with his shoulders to the mat – ONE, TWO -

He pops free, immediately getting an Oklahoma roll – ONE, TWO – Anderson reverses – ONE, TWO, T- Davis gets a shoulder up, twists, and floats over to bridge the pin – ONE, TWO, TH- Anderson rolls his shoulders over to counter – ONE, TWO, THR-

Perez cuts the mat display short with a baseball dropkick. GenOme drag Anderson to his feet and hit a double-team suplex, then an assisted Fisherman's Suplex. Newton holds on to the bridge – ONE, TWO, THRE-

KING OF THE HILL! Brent Hill breaks up the pin in the most impactful way open to him! Davis is down and almost out, and Frankie goes for the hook kick. Brent catches it, and Perez counters to a dragon whip, knocking Hill down.

But Anderson is up now, and Perez tries another hook kick. Again, it's caught – dragon whip attempt – Anderson steps into it, grabbing a waistlock while Frankie's in the air and hitting a German suplex in one fluid motion! Brent springs to cover! ONE, TWO -

DWN drags him off the cover. Anderson goes for a lariat and Davis counters it into a hip toss. Shining wizard from Hill, who immediately applies the Complete Package, which so nearly defeated Perez. The crowd are just waiting for the submission -

NEWTON BREAKS THE COMPLETE PACKAGE! No one can believe it, especially not Brent. DWN capitalises, grabbing the shocked Machine and looking for the STF – but Anderson cuts him off mid-move, dragging him up. AMMO DUMP! COVER! ONE, TWO, THRE- PEREZ BREAKS IT UP!

He returns the favour he was done earlier, sending Anderson crashing to the mat outside, and turns around into a flying shoulderblock from Brent. IMMEDIATE COMPLETE PACKAGE!

Newton gets slowly back to his feet as the crowd bay for Perez' blood. He looks at the situation-

STF! BRENT HILL HAS THE COMPLETE PACKAGE ON PEREZ, BUT HE'S TRAPPED IN THE STF!

With the pressure abruptly lessened, Perez is able to elbow his way clear of the hold. He sees Anderson climbing back into the ring and cuts him off with a shoulder to the gut, then snaps his neck off the top rope, sending him tumbling back to the mat on the outside.

Brent – COUNTERS THE STF INTO THE COMPLETE PACKAGE! Dragged off by Perez! PERFECT PARITY! FISHERMAN'S SUPLEX BY DWN! ONE, TWO, THREE!

Applause echoes over the house speakers – about the only thing that could silence the crowd reaction after that match. It turns out to be applause from Remo Richardson, emerging from the entrance ramp but now, again, dressed for the street after his match, holding a mic in his hands.

Having stopped applauding as soon as the crowd fell quiet, he starts making his way down to the ring, where Davis and Frankie are still breathing hard, trying to catch up with events, still on the adrenaline high.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/WolfHawkins.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/MarcDuBois-1.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JoeyMinnesota.jpg

The camera picks up other movement, too – Wolf Hawkins clambers over the guardrail from the crowd. So does DuBois. And Minnesota, too – the entire in-ring complement of Generation Omega is in the ring now.

Remo raises the mic to his lips, looking from Davis to Frankie.

“Not bad,” he says. The crowd can't help but laugh, as Hawkins takes the mic.

“I hope you're satisfied they proved themselves!” he calls down the aisle to the Machines, who are slowly making their way to the back. Anderson frowns; Hill shakes his head in distaste, but neither of them stay to argue.

“Right. So that's one bunch of morons out of the way... Next up, Sean McFly, whoever else makes it into the finals of the Three Kings – 'cause you'll make it, right, guys?” Joey grins; DuBois nods, no expression on his face.

Remo is looking elsewhere. Apparently it don't even matter enough to merit a shrug.

“And the British Lions... Who ought to be quaking in their boots, after what we've just seen. I mean, Sean – sure, you can say you're better than Marc Speed.

“Doesn't change how this is going to go, but you can say it.

But the Lions... well, put it this way. Those two were two-time tag champions.

“What have you two won lately? Or, you know, ever?”

He grins. “Ultimately, it comes down to this...

“This month, Joey makes a hundred grand, Marc makes a hundred grand, Remo makes a hundred grand, GenOme keep their belts, and I get to rub Sean McFly's nose in it.

“Clean sweep time, boys.

“And, you know... with his cut of that three hundred thousand, and the win bonus for the tag belts... that's Frankie paid off for his fine and operating in the clear again.

“We're just going on to new strengths, Mayhem. And **** you for getting in the way. And **** you, Cornell, for not giving me the shot earlier – and for not showing up to get your ass kicked.

“I'm better than you. I'm just waiting for you to show up and lose so everyone can see it.”

so Can El is a bit of an arse then? Hell I'd rather support Edd than him even if he was the cowardlyest of heels because at least he's doing what a heel is meant to do.

Can El just interupts and attacks Edd, great face efforts there.

Can El shows up ringside. Edd attacks. Can El fights back.

Compare and contrast with the past two months of this feud - Edd has a lot more run-ins, as well as backstage beatdowns.

Of course, Can El is holding on to the actual International belt. Like I've said before... this is a shades of grey company. See also, Cornell working what is typically a heel angle against Hawkins.

Pretty much the S-C F, yeah. I still don't consider that a good finish (or a good finish name) but it's a nice little 'screw you' of a move when you get a chance to use it.

Yes, Edd is... being a dick. It's what he does. He's being a funny dick, at least in places and to some people, but that's also what he does. Full-Face Edd probably still pulls shenanigans aplenty, just... less dickish ones.

As for the Complete Package... I don't know what it is canonically. I see it as the Boneyard from this video.

Edd has too much charisma for me to hate him as a heel. He kind've reminds me of Edge and Christian when they were busting out the kazoos and trying to get out of matches by faking sick, as well as interfering in matches 'Because they were bored'. Like, they were still heels, but they were funny heels. They're the type of heels that would be genuinely shocked and hurt if people told them that they're the bad guy, which is how I view Edd.

However, I wouldn't really say that Can-El (now that I know who he is, I can't help but feel Lee's unmasked identity is cooler, but that's cause the re-render is awesome...) is acting heelish. P.S's right, Edd has interfered and attacked way way more than Can-El. Okay, he stole Edd's belt, but Edd has ambushed him repeatedly, including back when Tana was involved.

Also the Emma Chase line was gold.

Sammy Bach is a fascinating character to me, despite his having lain fallow for a fair while... but then, the next phase needed prep time afore I could even start setting it up. What's coming up... well, the seeds started to be planted back in 2008. I'm not sure how obvious that's going to be, though.

Muta Lock looks to be the Proton Lock...or similar to it.

In my head, the Proton Lock is the CHIKARA Special. The Dread Lock of Art Reed is thus the Inverted CHIKARA Special.

I should go through the roster and cover these at some point.

Anyone have a particular wrestler's finishers they want explaining?

EDIT: I should be clear on the Edd thing. I enjoy dreaming up his crazy stunts. I enjoy writing them. But I'm always aware that the stuff he pulls is not pleasant - and is generally surprisingly well calibrated to annoy the person he's getting at. Compare and contrast what he's done to Aaron, Tana, and to Can El.

Tuesday September 9th 2009

Writing this in the airport departure lounge getting ready for the flight home. Busy day tomorrow; Kate's been shifted off the house show loop this time – she's got a double-loop lined up as a result, but she's looking forward to the project, so that should help.

Anyway, that's not what I was planning about writing about tonight. I had one of the odder arguments of my career before the show, with Davis Newton. I kind of want to lay this out in writing so I can see if his point made more sense than I thought at the time, so here goes.

Basically, Davis wanted to carry his tag belt over his shoulder, a la the regular practice in a number of other promotions, because it will make him look more like a heel. Why?

Well, it goes down to my personal preferences. If you look at TCW in 2007, you'll see people wearing their belts over their shoulders, rather than round their waists. I don't remember who started the practice – Nemesis, maybe, when he had the SWF North American Title – but I do recall it was a heel working a 'disrespectful of tradition' gimmick. It was part of the character, in short. But it's become 'cool', and it is, frankly, stupid – unless you're a super heavyweight who simply can't fit the belt around their waist.

So, as part of the 'focus on wrestling' initiative we were putting together to revitalise things as I arrived, I barred the practice. Our champions come to the ring wearing their belts where you're supposed to wear a belt.

Apparently, the fact I don't like shoulderbelts has gotten out into that part of the internet that knows I have the book. And Davis' theory was, since those people know I don't like it, to them, him doing it would make him a bigger heel.

Personally, I'd rather not admit we're telling a story inside the story. I don't think it tends to work. AMW's booker spent a little while with SWF at the tail end of my time there; he used to pitch things like wrestlers talking about the finish of their match, so that when one of them went against it it'd somehow 'sell' that match.

Yeah, by killing the others...

Wednesday September 10th 2009

Lunchtime, and Kate and I are back in the Danger Zone – our little training camp for wrestlers, which is opening up for another three-month class.

This one's one of the 'Basics' courses; we promise our students that by the end of it they'll be able to bump front and back, hit the ropes, lock up, suplex, slam, dropkick, counter, and work through about half the basic traditional holds, all crisply and safely. Enough to work a ten-minute broadway without embarrassing yourself.

The Advanced courses run five months and cover putting matches together, getting comfortable in gimmick, and as many more complex moves as we can get under the belts – but that's for later. Here comes the new class, together with Kate, me, this course's guest tutor, and a proud parent...

Reading left to right, the young rookies are Phil Jerome, Brooke Tyler, Lucas Robson (coming all the way from Australia), Nattie Quinzel, Quentin Queen (yes, really), and Brad Greene.

Eric's more than a little proud of young Brooke – just sixteen and an insurance nightmare, but we're both willing to work hard to give her the chance she deserves.

[update, April 2011: Just before going to press I checked how this class had done. Brad completed a second Advanced class last month; I'm not convinced he's got the storytelling side down yet, but he's got a foundation to build on. He's starting to take bookings as of the end of the month.

Phil Jerome has taken a break to study for an MBA on his father's orders, but after a Basic and an Advanced, I was astonished how smooth he'd got, and he'd innovated a camel clutch variant that's easier and swifter to lock in. He'll be back as soon as he's got the MBA, and I expect big things.

Brooke's headed off to college, again at parental insistence, but she stops by the Danger Zone in the holidays – to help train. For her age, her mat ability is astonishing.

Lucas went back to Australia after the Basics course. He hasn't signed on with any of their big promotions, but he works the occasional micro-indy under the name Surfer Dude Lucas. He also works stuntman duty on Aussie TV shows.

Nattie got serious about things midway through an Advanced course, and headed to the Cat's Lair for more women-specific advice as Kate couldn't make the course. She debuted for AAA last December, and seems set for future success.

Quentin's a good all-rounder, and he's dedicated. I have my eye on him for the All-Action Division, following some seasoning in front of crowds as well as the Danger Zone training. Cliff's offered him a spot with CZCW, but so far I haven't been able to persuade him he's ready. He does need to work on his timing a bit, to be fair.

Much easier to predict now.

Bombshell's Boys will face Kings of Wrestling to produce the Keith Bros face-off.

Texas Outlaws will face Gen Omega because we love the Outlaws and everyone hates Gen Omega.

Then Bombshell's Boys face Gen Omega. I really can't justify that one the way the other two were.

But Generation Omega wins.

Got to stick with my original predictions, here. Three Amigos for the win. That means that the Kings Of Wrestling are going down.

Question is, will it be a Face/Heel or a Face/Face match-up? The Enforcers taking down Bombshell's Boys would give them instant credibility, but then BB's vs. TA's would be a cool match to see. Got to go for Enforcers vs. Three Amigos in the semis, with that in mind, because Rick Law's feud with Jack Marlowe can be made to work better there.

The Texas Outlaws need to come in strong. They've got one of the country's biggest stars on their side, and they're the descendants of one of the most notorious trios out there. Though it pains me to put out the Easy Riders, I've got to let it happen.

Can't vote for Generation Omega to win this one. It would become just another part of their plot if that was the case, and I can't let that happen. Extreme Measures have all been treading water, but will this be their ticket back to a renewed push? Well, I say yes!

So, we've got Three Amigos vs. The Enforcers. Well, I've been calling the Three Amigos for this all along, so I'm sticking with them FTW.

And Extreme Measures vs. The Texas Outlaws. Will we see the Outlaws vs. the Amigos in the final? Well... no. Facing Christian Faith would turn the crowd on them in an instant. So, Extreme Measure go over here.

Extreme Measures vs. The Three Amigos, and I've been calling this from the start.

Woo! Go The Three Amigos!

The groups are done. We're through to the quarter finals, all four of which will take place this week. And even setting that aside, I'd still be excited for this week's Total Wrestling. Let's see what we have on tap...

We kick off with intergender tag team action, as Jeremy Stone lines up alongside his daughter JeriLynn Stone to face off against brother and uncle Edd Stone and his ally, the former Womens Champion, Gorgon. An exceptional contest is pretty much guaranteed, and both sides will be proud - but word has it that this match arose over Edd Stone's advice and aid to Matthew Keith last week.

Tag action continues, as the New Wave face off against M.A.D. Total Destruction is out of the tournament, but Extreme Measures live on - will M.A.D. look to change the course of the tournament though frustration? It seems entirely possible.

Jack Bruce saw Darkwave go out on Saturday - but so did Painful Procedure. With Bruce wrestling against Gumble, there's a chance for him to again make a point as to which band, at least, contains the better wrestlers.

The first quarter-final is set to follow, pitting Bombshell's Boys against the Enforcers. Expect nothing but the best.

And following that, the second quarter-final; the Kings of Wrestling will clash with the Three Amigos. This one's bound to be brutal, and desperate... but may the best men win!

Generation Omega occupy the main event, as Joey Minnesota and Wolf Hawkins will face off against Troy Tornado and Eddie Peak. The clash of former tag team partners and former DaVE champions promises to be spellbinding... but we at tcw.com wouldn't want to try guessing who'll win.

Edd Stone & Gorgon vs. Jeremy Stone & JeriLynn Stone

As much as I like Edd I don´t see him being on Jeremy´s level.

M.A.D. vs. New Wave

M.A.D. will look scary and impressive but once the match starts they lose anyway.

Jack Bruce vs. Steve Gumble

Gumble is pretty much a jobber at this point.

QUARTER-FINAL

Bombshell's Boys w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Enforcers

Enforcers seem to be a real deal but I still don´t see them getting past Bombshell´s Boys.

QUARTER-FINAL

Kings of Wrestling vs. Three Amigos

Close call but with Bombshell's Boys likely advancing to next round Kings make more sense espesially with Matthew´s history with them.

Eddie Peak & Troy Tornado vs. Joey Minnesota & Wolf Hawkins w/ Phil Vibert

Heel pairing looks stronger to me though I could see this one going the other way too.

Edd Stone & Gorgon vs. Jeremy Stone & JeriLynn Stone

The Father, Daughter team on the whole look stronger

M.A.D. vs. New Wave

As other's said M.A.D will look threatening but in the end New Wave's superior teamwork will see them to victory, plus it's better to keep them strong for their tournament match.

Jack Bruce vs. Steve Gumble

Whilst I don't think TCW is the sort of fed, that does out-right squashes (as in even the jobbers seem to get in offence) this can and will only go one way.

QUARTER-FINAL

Bombshell's Boys w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Enforcers

Enforcers did well to get this far but they aren't going past one of the tournament favourites.

QUARTER-FINAL

Kings of Wrestling vs. Three Amigos

Probably one of the more difficult matches to call in this round, but Kings will provide the better match-up for Bombshell's Boys in the fact that they are not only heels but will also provide a Keith vs Keith face off.

Eddie Peak & Troy Tornado vs. Joey Minnesota & Wolf Hawkins w/ Phil Vibert

Peak & Tornado are no slouches but I would say that the Generation Omega pair, especially with the World Champion have the edge here. To my perception, Tornado has slipped down the card a notch since he was one half of the disputed World Champions with Bloodstone, to be fair to Tornado same thing has happened to Bloodstone to a certain degree.

Edd Stone & Gorgon vs. Jeremy Stone & JeriLynn Stone

Top-level contender and Women's Champion over former Women's Champion and midcard staple. A sad, but easy choice.

M.A.D. vs. New Wave

No. Sorry, but M.A.D.'s monster credibility hasn't really gone anywhere.

Jack Bruce vs. Steve Gumble

JOBBER!

QUARTER-FINAL

Bombshell's Boys w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Enforcers

It'd be a hell of a coup for the Enforcers, and I've got to stick with my predictions.

QUARTER-FINAL

Kings of Wrestling vs. Three Amigos

Three Amigos are the unit with the greatest experience and the lowest chance of screwing everything up with their personal issues.

Eddie Peak & Troy Tornado vs. Joey Minnesota & Wolf Hawkins w/ Phil Vibert

Two top-level guys vs. two guys at the slightly lower end of the top. I'll tell you one thing though:whoever wins, it don't matter to Remo.
