Zeel1
So I'm sure this kind of thing has been said quite a few times, but I decided to share this anyway; I have an in-game made promotion, that's currently at Cult, and I had signed Joey Beauchamp. He was auto-pushed at Enhancement Talent, and despite being a performance first company, low level workers still don't grade out well, and as I'm still holding bi-monthly shows and doing my rise upwards, I can't really afford to put guys at that level in matches. But he's good on the mic, so I decided, to give him something to do, to make him a Color Commentator, the idea being he'd be constantly complaining about not being booked before eventually having his debut match, once I could get a TV show. But, what was surprising to me, was just how much his popularity sky rocketed. He's called like, six shows, and he's went from Enhancement Talent to Upper Midcarder. He'll probably be a main eventer in a couple more shows. I thought it could help his popularity, but damn. So yeah, this kind of thing has probably been said before, but as a tip to newer players - if you have a low level worker with good enough mic skills, make them a commentator. It should work well for you.
praguepride
Did you get any road agent notes about him? throw him in angles? was he working for any other companies at the time? And what kind of popularity did he go from (From what to what?) to make him rise up so fast. I don't know that throwing someone on the announcing team is the fast track to success. I'm guessing there's something else going on, especially after only calling 6 shows. Unless the difference in popularity is like going from F- -> F or something. Zeel1
Well, yeah, he was working UEW and 21CW..but AAW's an American company, I don't think that'd make a differance. No road agent notes, no angles..just commentary duty. In September, he was F- all across the States. Now in January, and he's at D, and likely to raise again after my next show. Think I put him onto the team in October..it really is astounding, but his Entertainment's at B, and his Charisma's at B+..maybe he's just that good. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j213/Zeel1/JBProgress.png
Derek B
I thought it was a well known thing about the announce team overness gains? I know I've been using it for ages as a way to get my undercard over (Roger Dodger and Ernie Turner especially in my USPW game). I've found over time that a worker can gain overness up to around the level of your promotion usually, unless they have a cap of course. Progress slows down as they get further up though so be prepared to see your guys gain a grade per show to start with then not move up a grade for a few shows after a while. As I said... I thought most people know about this already. Was introduced to 08 (I think) after people complained in previous versions of the game that non-wrestlers never gained overness, even if they were on every show. Announcers, arguably the most prominent of all non-wrestling roles due to being in every segment, get the biggest gains.
Tag01
It definitely works. I had a fighter jump from 10.5 popularity in the region to 15.5 from doing nothing but do Color on one show.
Remianen
Was introduced to 08 (I think) after people complained in previous versions of the game that non-wrestlers never gained overness, even if they were on every show. As one of the most vocal of these people (jeez, since 05, really), I like this feature. Diminishing returns makes it less effective really quickly, in my experience. Plus, it's only really good for workers who are already decent on the entertainment side so you can't really turn a Cal Sanders into Wolf Hawkins (overness wise). Derek B
Me too. In many of my own games I've used this as a means to get some people over and oftentimes to help the colour commentary for my matches too. I tend to put my managers on there to help build them up so that they are more effective later on for my angles. Tis pretty handy.
Comradebot
So, an interesting way to get a total nobody over that sometimes works... Every now and then, I've noticed helps to have a worker get dominated when they're lower down the card. I dunno, maybe I'm crazy, but I just got Bob Casey to finally gain overness with a company in a match that wasn't really any better than anything else he's done for the company, but he noted to be dominated during the match. Then again, maybe it only seems this way because I'd only use the note when someone is losing to a guy somewhat higher in the ranks than them, thus creating a better match, and then giving them an overness gain. More research is required.
