I will be starting the diary from UFC 84 and I hope to keep it as realistic as possible (meaning I won't go out and sign fighters that I don't think UFC really would). I'm using Tap or Snap 5 data. I will have a more detailed preview of UFC 84 up tomorrow. Please, feel free to leave your predictions.

MAIN EVENT

UFC LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Sean Sherk (32-2-1) vs BJ Penn (12-4-1) ©

Sherk is fighting a for a title he technically never lost. This is Sean's first fight back since he tested positive for steroid use after his UFC 73 victory over Hermes Franca (who also tested positive). Sherk was immediately suspended and stripped of the title that BJ Penn later won at UFC 80, over Joe "Daddy" Stevenson. There is a ton of bad blood going into this fight. Penn is calling Sherk a steroid freak where as Sherk is calling Penn a drug head for his alleged marijuana use. Either way, this has all the makings for a tremendous fight. Penn needs to finish this fight, and finish it quickly, as few people can hang with Sherk's cardio. Sherk will have to try and do what few men have done, and that's keep Penn down and not allow him to hook on a crazy submission.

Prediction: Penn via submission in Round 2

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Keith Jardine (13-3-1) vs Wanderlie Silva (31-8-1)

Wanderlei showed us all what he's made of at UFC 79 against Chuck Liddell. One of the most exciting fights in UFC history! The question is, can he bounce back from the loss to Liddell and make a run towards the Light Heavyweight title. He's got a tough fight ahead of him though in 'The Dean of Mean'. With wins over both Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell, it's a wonder how Jardine hasn't had a title shot yet. It may be due to his inconsistency as he has had a problem with stringing victories together. Jardine will have to repeat his game plan that he used to disable Liddell and Silva will have to use his aggressiveness to defeat Jardine.

Prediction: Silva via TKO in Round 1

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Lyota Machida (12-0) vs Tito Ortiz (15-5-1)

Dana has officially announced that this will be the last time that Tito fights in the UFC: win, lose, or draw. The hand picked opponent that has the task of making sure that's a loss is karate expert Lyota Machida. Machida has burst onto the scene with wins over Sam Hoger, David Heath, Kazuhiro Nakamura, and Sokoudjou. He might not have the most exciting fight style, but he gets the win, taking very minimal damage. Ortiz has had a storied past with the UFC. Tito is a former Light Heavyweight champion, who held the belt for more than three years, and he's looking to escape from the clutches of Dana White having had the last laugh.

Prediction: Machida via unanimous decision

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Wilson Gouveia (10-4) vs Goran Reljic (7-0)

Both fighters are relatively unknown, but have both put on impressive winning streaks. Gouveia is 4-1 with the UFC, having strung together four wins in a row after a loss to Keith Jardine. Reljic is a jiu-jitsu fighter who comes in making his UFC debut undefeated. The winner of this fight very well may open some eyes for the rest of the Light Heavyweight division.

Prediction: Reljic via submission in Round 2

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Antonio Mendes (14-2) vs Thiago Silva (12-0)

This should be an exciting fight. Mendes comes in bringing an eleven fight win streak as he hopes to make it twelve with his UFC debut. The brazilian has sick Muay Thai that Thiago will have to watch out for. Thiago is undefeated in his career and in the UFC, with wins over James Irvin, Tomasz Drwal, and Houston Alexander. With another win, Thiago could fight one of the Light Heavyweight elite's for a championship opportunity.

Prediction: Silva via TKO in Round 3

PRELIMINARY CARD (Fights may or may not be televised)

Kazuhiro Nakamura (11-7) vs Rameau Thierry Soukjdou (4-2)

Rousimar Palhares (7-1) vs Ivan Salaverry (12-5)

Jon Koppenhaver (5-1) vs Yoshiyuki Yoshida (9-2)

Rich Clementi (31-12-1) vs Terry Etim (10-1)

Dong Hyung Kim (9-0-1) vs Jason Tan (5-2)

Predictions are welcomed, also, what pick the awards that you think will be given out (Fight of the Night, Submission of the Fight, and Knockout of the Night).

Like I mentioned earlier, I had already posted UFC 84 and I have no idea where it wouldn't. I already deleted the reports for it, so I'll just post a quick recap. Sorry about that.

Attendance: 19,150

Fight of the Night: Wilson Gouveai vs Goran Reljic

Submission of the Night: BJ Penn

Knockout of the Night: Wanderle Silva

Announcements:

*Tito Ortiz was not allowed at the press conference following his final match with UFC. Knowing this, Tito still tried to go on stage and had to be escorted off the premises by security. Dana White also refused to answer any questions about Tito besides him saying that Tito will never work for him again or the UFC.

*Chuck Liddell may be ready from his hamstring injury by either UFC 88 or 89. The opponent being discussed to fight him could be UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. Anderson has been pretty outspoken this past year about getting his feet wet in the Light Heavyweight division. We will keep you posted on this story.

*August's card, UFC 87, from Minnesota has four fights that can be confirmed:

-Jon Fitch vs Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Title

-Mark Coleman vs Brock Lesner

-Roger Huerta vs Kenny Florian

-Andrei Arlovski vs Heath Herring

*Matt Hughes hopes to end his fight with Thiago Alves next month injury free so he can fight Matt Serra later on this year.

Predictions: There was actually 11 fights, but I accidently left the Carwin/Wellisch fight off the preview

>The winner, by unanimous decision, is Fabricio Werdum!

>Official Result: 'Vai Cavalo' Fabricio Werdum defeats 'The Truth' Brandon Vera (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3). The match was rated as being Very Poor.

Two big wins for Werdum, the other being against Gonzaga, and that definitely puts him a little closer to the title. Not sure where this puts Vera. He's been extremely disappointing his last two fights and has been a totally different fighter than the Vera who burst upon the scene.

>The winner, by Submission; Mike Swick!

>Official Result: 'Quick' Mike Swick defeats 'The Irish Hand Grenade' Marcus Davis (Submission in 2:40 of round 1). The match was rated as being Great.

We expected fireworks and they both delivered. Swick gets a much needed win over a top competitor and hopefully this will make him stick out a little more in the deep Welterweight division. Davis did the best he could do, he still was entertaining as usual.

'Sugar' Rashad Evans squares off with 'The Sandman' James Irvin in the UFC Light Heavyweight division.

>Irvin winds up in half guard.

>In half guard, Irvin throws a couple of punches designed to keep Evans guessing.

>Evans moves so that Irvin is now in full guard, not half guard.

>Irvin throws a few weak-looking punches as he decides on his next move.

>Evans goes for the sweep from the bottom of the guard.

>Evans sweeps Irvin over, breaking guard, and they both end up scrambling back to their feet.

>We are now at the halfway point of the round.

>Irvin catches Evans with a crisp jab.

>Irvin sees a body kick coming and hits a solid jab.

>We're into the final minute of the round.

>Evans comes in, looking for a quick takedown.

>A counter punch catches Evans hard, putting him down!

Bisping is now 2-0 in the Middleweight division and wants a big name in the Middleweight division to fight next. British fans loved him tonight.

Dominate win for Franca over the very game Fisher. This was Hermes first fight back since being suspended from steroid use, and he looked very, very solid. He'll need to fight someone a little more elite than Fisher to get back in the Lightweight championship running.

CB Dollaway becomes this season's Ultimate Fighter. He puts on a great display of his wrestling and gets the win from the judge's score fairly easily. Gerald Harris hung in there though. He showed a lot of heart in his loss and with the proper training, could be a scary fighter in the UFC middleweight division. As for Dollaway, he says he wants to get into the octagon again as soon as possible, so we'll see what happens.

The crowd loves Evan Tanner, even in defeat. The fight was going his way up until the very end. He held his neck out in the open for the Season 3 TUF winner, Grove to lock in an extra deep guillotine. Two losses, back to back for Tanner since his return. He looked better in this outing than he did his previous one against Okami, but it's hard to say when or if he'll fight again in the UFC. Grove quite possibly saved his job with this victory. He had lost his last two fights where his 'heart' and 'desire' was starting to be asked about. Grove definitely showed great heart to weather the seasoned veteran's attacks and sneak out with a win.

Fight of the Night: CB Dollaway vs Gerald Harris

Submission of the Night: Kendall Grove

Knockout of the Night: Drew McFedries

Announcements:

*Season 7 goofball, Lyman Good, tested positive for steroid use during his post fight drug test. Good, who defeated Dustin Denes during the preliminary card on Saturday night via unanimous decision, will forfeit a certain percentage of his purse and will serve a one year suspension for his conduct. Dustin Denes has filed a complaint against his loss to the Nevada State Athletic Commission asking them to overturn the decision.

*Congratulations to CB Dollaway, Season 7's Ultimate Fighter.

*Randy Couture continues to be a poor sport after his now second retirement. Couture says he will be writing his second autobiography and will be shedding the whole truth about Dana White and the rest of the UFC and how he was so mistreated.

*Along the same line, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueiro is finally being recognized as the UFC Heavyweight champion and not just an Interim Champ. Nogueiro will begin filming the upcoming Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter against rival coach Frank Mir. The season will feature Light Heavyweights and Lightweights.

***ATTENTION ALL READERS

For this next season of the Ultimate Fighter, I want your help. I do not want my diary to become like some of the ones from WMMA 1 where it's full of fighters doing there own interviews, so I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN!!! Instead, all I'm asking for are the following:

Name:

Nickname:

Height:

Fighting Out Of:

Light Heavyweight (first 8 only) or Lightweight (first 8 only)

What Fighter in Real Life Will Your Fighter Look Like:

What Fighter Will He Fight Like:

Fighting Style:

That's it! I'd rather not have any other info so I can add my own creativity to it. Also, if I think a name or a character is too goofy, I will choose not to use it, sorry!!! The way this will work, is I will import everyone, but I will do the actually show fights from the WMMA2 quick match feature from the front page. I will do this until the finals and then of course, I will have the top 2 Light Heavyweights and the top 2 Lightweights fight for the TUF championships. Keep in my mind, I will probably only hire about 3-4 when the show is completed, so do not get your feelings hurt. I will post what happened on every episode right before the TUF Season 8 Finale. Thanks and I look forward to using your fighters.

PS-If there are not enough people to sign up, I will allow (after I give the okay) for people to donate more than one fighter.

Previews for the next three events will be up next, so please predict and don't forget to predict who you think will get the awards for the evening as well.

Did Tibau really put on that great of a show or was something wrong with Stevenson tonight? Stevenson's first fight back since losing to Penn for the Lightweight title and he really needed to make a statement that he could hang with the elite in the division, but Tibau destroyed him tonight. Not to take anything away from Gleison, this was just very uncharacteristic of Stevenson.

Fight of the Night: Forrest Griffin vs Quinton Jackson

Submission of the Night: Gabriel Gonzaga

Knockout of the Night: Melvin Guillard

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*Believe it or not, but Dana has made it known that the UFC is again interested in Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic. Cro Cop was seen as a huge bust, coming over to the states after such a great career over in Japan. His record during his UFC days was 1-2. He has since went over to the DREAM organization in Japan and has put a record of 2-0. Who knows if a deal will be struck or not.

*Another potential heavyweight that may sign with the UFC is none other than IFL veteran, Ben Rothwell.

*UFC 89 will again make it's return over to England. Michael Bisping is the only fighter confirmed for the event.

*The new Ultimate Fighter winner, CB Dollaway has been confirmed for the next Ultimate Fight Night against an unnamed opponent. Also confirmed for that card:

-Josh Neer vs Nate Diaz

-Clay Guida vs Mac Danzig

-Houston Alexander vs Eric Schafer

***THANKS to everyone who offered a fighter for the upcoming season of the Ultimate Fighter. Astyn can still get in a lightweight, but I'll go ahead and close that part of it for now.
