Dual Title Situation

Recommended Posts

Right now I am in year 2002 with GAMMA. After being bored at the relative ease in which Sean Morrison and Julio Regueiro were beating their title contenders, I decided to have a Super Fight between the two and I perhaps foolishly put both of the belts up for grabs.

Well Reguiero managed to sub Morrison in the 3rd round, thereby making him the winner of the LW and WW division. Unfortunately he is going to have a lay off of 6 months. I don't mind having one weight class in limbo for 6 months without a title shot, but two weight classes is a stretch.

I am thinking of vacating the LW title from him and running a 4 man tournament for the belt, however unless Atep (who is my newly signed #2 contender) can beat Morrison, it will just most likely fall back into his hands.

Any advice?

I had a similar situation recently with Regueiro and Li-Kong Ho. I could only put the Lightweight title on the line, but a similar thing happened to me and Regueiro was out for 6 months. I didn't strip him of the title and so had to wait until he came back. Fortunately that was around the same time that i created the Featherweight division, so I was able to have good fights without using the Lightweight or Welterweight title. I didn't want to strip the title because he did rightfully win it. That would be my advice, just weather the storm until he comes back!

Hmm..interesting. Maybe I will create a featherweight division. What I really need is someone who can beat him and take one of the titles from him but I don't think I have anyone. As mentioned before, the #1 contender in LW is Atep or Morrison. Then in WW I have Kanya Bufa or Noach Van Der Cappen. If this is anything like WMMA 1, I don't think that either of those guys have a shot at WW.

All I will say is Kafu Bunya may surprise you........................

Definitely agree after recently embarking on my first attempt at running Alpha-1. Bunya is essentially unstoppable for me--he can't be submitted or knocked out--and his offensive skills have developed nicely over only 22 months of game time. He recently outpointed the previously unstoppable Xie Ming to win the Welterweight title. He spent the entire second round in the muay thai clinch eating knees to the face and just shrugged them off and easily took control of the fight again in the third. Ming's muay thai knees had been legendary in that game--he'd easily knocked out every fighter he'd faced with them, including Gallego and da Guia. If he can survive Shimizu's submissions in his next fight, I'll truly believe that he's unstoppable.

So I'd say Bunya has a legit shot to win any fight--if he's built up enough in the States and on a good streak, I'd consider tossing him in with Regueiro and seeing what happens. At worst you'll be faced with the same situation you're currently in several months down the line, and you can use that time to try to build up a few new contenders in both divisions. Plus, for realism's sake, it would probably make more sense to wait until it's become clear that Regueiro won't be defending one of the belts before stripping him of it, if that's the route you have to end up taking, rather than stripping him of a title immediately after he wins it.

Additionally, I don't know how Napier's been doing in your game, but if I remember correctly, he's willing to drop to welterweight and should probably be able to give Regueiro a run for his money in what could be another superfight. If he's still holding your middleweight strap, though, that's probably not a situation you want to get into.

In my game he lost to Josh Aldarisio at WW, so I gave Aldarisio the title shot at WW as he was the #2 contender. Unfortunately he lost, but I guess in a bit of good news he lost in the 2nd round, thus making the recovery time for Reguiero "only" 4 months and 2 weeks. Morrison just got a win against Hayashi in the LW so I'm most likely gonna give Morrison a rematch title shot at LW. Hopefully he can lay and pray a win against Reguiero. I doubt he will ever be able to pass his guard.

Additionally, I don't know how Napier's been doing in your game

I actually just thought of this before I read your post, but thanks for reminding me. Napier just lost to Petey Mack for a chance at the MW title shot, so I'm gonna feed him a win at the same time Regeurio fights Morrison and have him lined up in case Reguiero wins again.

Also of note in the LW division I have Lucas Melberg, who might be able to lay and pray a win from him, and at WW I have Dat On Ka Ting, Bunya and Humphreys.

id say vacate one of the belts. winning a second title is about status. think roy jones jr when he won a piece of the heavyweight crown.he vacated and dropped back down.

Run a 4 man tournament and fill the vacany.

fyi, li kong ho is unstoppable. he crushed morrison in my game and hasnt looked back. hes 31-0 in my game.
