Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz. Another tained win for E&C here. I don't think the Hardy's are over/experienced enough to pick up the win just yet but I can imagine them coming out to bigger pops every week, just like back in the day.

Big Show vs. Ahmed Johnson. Quick-ish squash here. You've been using Johnson in a jobber to the stars role the whole time and I don't think he's won once haha. I also really hate him so I love seeing him get destroyed.

Jerry Lynn vs. Goldust w. 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes. I've always liked Goldust and I can see him picking up some momentum here. Maybe leading to a match with JJ at some point?

Great Sasuke and Taka Michinoku vs. 'The Human Showcase' Sean Waltman and Chavo Guerrero w. Blue Panther. More momentum for Waltman, maybe a tainted win to draw some heat.

‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Lance Storm w. 'The Anvil' Jim Niedhart. Naich and Storm to put on quite a show but in the end Flair's wealth of experience and technical mastery get him the win and some good momentum going into his match with Show.

The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. ‘Psycho’ Sid Vicious. Shamrock submits Sid with relative ease. Sid has nothing going on at the minute really so I envisage him in a JOTS role.

The Brother’s of Destruction and ‘The Innovator of Offense’ Chris Kanyon vs. ‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels, Triple H and ‘The Man Beast’ Rhino w. Bret 'The Hitman' Hart DX to win here and more cracks start to show in the BOD's relationship, but I don't see them turning on each other just yet. Kanyon eats the pin here so that Kane/Taker don't lose much momentum going into Summerslam.

Apologies for the time delay between shows, been a hectic week. I should have the final Raw before Summerslam up in just a few days now.

Thanks again for the support and picks guys, I very much appreciate it.

Ross: Hello there folks and this is Raw is War. I’m here alongside Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and King, tonight we might get some answers regarding The Brothers of Destruction.

Lawler: They seemed to be working as a cohesive unit last week JR, but tonight could see something in the main event.

Ross: But the cracks could begin to show tonight, King.

The camera suddenly cuts backstage deep into the arena where Ric Flair appeared on the titantron strutting his way along the corridor. Big Show leapt out from the corner and clotheslined Flair to the concrete floor. He started handing out lefts and rights to Flair on the floor as he the latter tried to cover up to limit the damage.

Big Show: About that match at Summerslam, Naitch. It’s on!

Lawler: I don’t like Flair’s chances, JR.

Ross: I think I may have to agree there, King. Show looks dominant and I’m not quite sure what it’ll take to stop him.

Edge and Christian arrogantly introduced themselves at the beginning of the match, but were left seething after The Hardy Boyz interrupted, clearly only interested in wrestling. The match kept a fast pace throughout and was quite even. Edge and Christian continued their slow heel turn gradually using more and more dirty tactics and heel clichés each week.

The ending of the match was envisaged by many as Christian rolled up Matt Hardy and elevated both feet onto the ropes for more leverage. Edge ran around to the other side of the ring and tugged Jeff from the apron by his foot and he face planted straight onto the apron.

Winners: Edge and Christian

Match Rating: D+

Sgt. Slaughter is backstage ready for a shoot promo. The rest of the Armed Forces are crowded around him.

Slaughter: Alright! Listen up maggots over at The Corporation! Vince McMahon do you really think it’s a fair fight at Summerslam? You’re giving Austin no hope in hell McMahon and The Armed Forces are here to give Austin protection tonight and next week on Raw. Oh and we’ll be there at Summerslam McMahon, anything goes remember, good luck keeping your job!

Ross: Wow that’s evened up the odds!

Lawler: Slaughter interfered in Mr. McMahon's business before and it got him fired. I advise against doing it again.

Ross: Somebodies gotta help Austin and you have to respect Slaughter for standing up to that tyrant McMahon.

Big Show vs. Ahmed Johnson

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5998/bigshow.jpgvs.http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/6875/ahmedjohnsonmk6.jpg

Against almost every other wrestler I the company Ahmed Johnson would have the power advantage here, but against Big Show he was at a clear disadvantage. Big Show manhandled Johnson around the ring like a Light Heavyweight and no sold any offence that Johnson could muster up.

Big Show took this opportunity as a chance to display his unprecedented power and strength and went as far as pressing Johnson above his head before dropping him from over eight feet. He finally put an end to Johnson’s misery with a huge chokeslam and embarrassed Johnson further by using his foot to make the cover.

Winner: Big Show

A video package airs on the titantron intended to strike fear into World Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels just two weeks before he defends the gold at Summerslam. It is compilation of the domination The Brothers of Destruction, both Undertaker and Kane have set upon the WWF since each of their arrivals. After plenty of Tombstones and chokeslams the grainy, murky video ends with the message:

At Summerslam, Shawn Michaels will Rest…In…Peace!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Triple H and Bret 'The Hitman' Hart are walking together backstage discussing The Rock and Owen Hart.

Triple H: We need an edge, Bret. We need to do something next week to send us into our matches at Summerslam with the edge and momentum.

Bret: Hunter, you took the words out of my mouth. We need to do something next week on the final Raw before Summerslam, but what?

Triple H: Let's head back to the locker room, Bret. I have a thought, but it's too risky out here in the open. We'll see what Shawn has to say aswell.

Lawler: Yes! Bret and Triple H scheming together I love it! Can you imagine what those two brains will come up with?

Ross: I can, King and I don't like it one bit.

Jerry Lynn vs. Goldust w. ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes

http://i50.tinypic.com/smzq0l.jpgvs.http://i35.tinypic.com/5vi21.jpg

Goldust seemed to find a new lease of life with his father barking the orders from ringside; however against Jerry Lynn things are never going to be easy and here was no different.

As he searched for the Intercontinental Title Goldust was able to keep his momentum going by putting Lynn away with the curtain call.

Winner: Goldust

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/8042/jeffjarrett.jpg

On the ramp, microphone in hand, Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett appears to a chorus of heavy booing interrupting Goldust’s celebrations. The look on his face shows clear anger towards Goldust following last week’s events. Behind Jarrett is a cowering Marlena who at the heart of Goldust’s mind games last week.

Jarrett: Last week Goldust, you great big freak, you scared Marlena in my own locker room! I don’t know how you did it, but my poor girl was petrified and she is still not the same even a week later. You want a shot at my title? Well now you’ve got it Goldust and not because you’ve earned because I can think of so many poor people in the back who deserve a shot more than you. No, but because I want to be the one to kick your ass for scaring my girl last week!

Ross: The Intercontinental is on the line at Summerslam folks! It’s gonna be Jeff Jarrett defending against Goldust.

Lawler: Come on Jarrett might aswell not even turn up. He just defended the belt against multiple men at the last pay per views and now he only has Goldust to fight! Pfftt!

Great Sasuke and Taka Michinoku vs. ‘The Human Showcase’ Sean Waltman and Chavo Guerrero w. Blue Panther

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/8465/greatsasukeqs4.jpghttp://img150.imageshack.us/img150/4974/takamichinokucf2.jpgvs.http://i47.tinypic.com/i5bwuq.jpghttp://i50.tinypic.com/wo2ts.jpg

A typical fast paced match from the Light Heavyweight division, but unlike most of the others this one actually meant something. The bad blood between Sasuke and Waltman had been hitting new heights and now the two would be in the ring at the same time. Sasuke had an array of various stars to choose from to be his partner Heavy Metal, Super Loco, but instead he chose Taka Michinoku who possesses fantastic resilience much like Sasuke. The makeshift team performed very well magnanimously tagging each other in to keep things fresh. Waltman did no such thing as he made Guerrero do most of the work and take most of the beating only entering the ring on occasion to break up a pinfall where he was a little concerned Guerrero wouldn’t be able to kick out.

As things began to turn into the favour of The Champion, you could see Waltman getting agitated. He constantly attempted to distract the referee to give Guerrero more of an opening. Finally Sasuke had seen enough and instead of hitting Guerrero from the top rope turned around and wiped Waltman from the turnbuckle with a clothesline. Panther instantly ran across to aid Waltman as one by one the entire Light Heavyweight division burst from the back initiating a mass brawl at ringside giving the referee no choice but to end proceedings.

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6387/vincemcmahon1998.jpghttp://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5998/bigshow.jpg

Vince McMahon intently strolls down to the ring followed by Big Show unmistakably for his own protection.

Vince: First of all, Shuttttt Upppppp!

Instead of quieting the crowd it does the complete reverse.

Vince: I’m not out here to listen to your bulls**t! I’ve got a few things to address and the sooner I’m back in my office and away from you lot out there the better!

Sgt. Slaughter, You can give that no good redneck Austin all the help you damn well please! It won’t change the fact that he won’t be employed in this company anymore after Summerslam. If you want to continue to meddle in my business then you’ll meet the same fate, that goes for all the Armed Forces and actually that just goes for anybody who wants to try and oppose The Corporation. Ric Flair, I’m looking at you. After Summerslam when Big Show makes you retire from the physical beating he will lay upon you then both of you will be no more in this company and yet again, Vincent Kennedy McMahon will have beaten his adversaries as always does.

McMahon pauses for a moment to share a few words with Big Show.

Vince: ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin…

The name alone initiates an instant reaction from the crowd much to Vince’s distaste.

Vince: As for you, Austin, well this is going to be your final ever Raw is War. That’s right Austin after all these years your time on Raw has come to end and do you know why? Because you have been banned from entering the arena! I’ll have security sealing up every entrance, every single way in you can think of to stop you from trying to get one up on me before our match and then at Summerslam I’ll…

*Breaking Glass*

http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpg

The crowd goes insane as ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin motors in to the arena harnessing a quad bike.

Big Show stepped in front of Vince McMahon as Austin got off the bike at ringside wielding a steel chair. He slid in the ring ducking a clothesline from Show. Crack! Big Show received a chair shot from Austin but it only caused him to wobble slightly. Crack! A second chair shot sent the giant tumbling back into the ropes. Austin ran forward and clotheslined Big Show out of the ring and into a heap at ringside. He turned around to look at McMahon exciting the crowd even more. McMahon froze on the spot absolutely terrified as Austin bore down on him with a steel chair raised.

http://i47.tinypic.com/34rxij5.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/28rfi2q.jpghttp://i48.tinypic.com/6xt7y0.jpghttp://img413.imageshack.us/img413/346/bambambigelowku3.jpg

The rest of The Corporation hit the scene sprinting down to help out their boss in the ring. Austin took out each member one by one with the steel chair sending then plummeting over the ropes and onto the outside. Meanwhile, McMahon Stealthily slid to the outside and managed to pass Austin and join up with his group as Austin just finished sending the final one over the ropes with the chair. Clearly livid McMahon shouted profanity at Austin who at this point had received a few beers from ringside and was having perhaps his final ever beer bash on Raw.

Vince: Enjoy it while it lasts Austin because next week you’re not coming to the arena dammit! I’ll hire every security person in the country to make sure you don’t get near me next week!

‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Lance Storm

http://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpgvs.http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/6600/lancestorm2.jpg

Storm had been putting in some impressive work recently and had been rewarded with matches against some of the main event and due to his technical abilities was able to put up some good, solid matches.

Flair needed the momentum here and you could tell he wasn’t going to make a mistake. Storm made things a little uneasy though and Flair had to roll back the years to keep up with Storm’s mat wrestling. Once Flair had locked on the figure four in the centre of the ring there was no escaping for Storm and he eventually tapped out.

Winner: Ric Flair

Match Rating: B-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera cut backstage to a dark room, but with only one bright light in the middle. The camera zoomed in further to find out that the bright light was a stuffed version of Cactus Jack burning. Terry Funk appeared from the darkness s******ing to himself.

Funk: This is what’ll happen, Mick! If you come back, Cactus Jack returns, this is what’ll happen to him. It’s time for the ultimate master of hardcore to emerge and at Summerslam I will make sure that the sick and sadistic Terry Funk is the undisputed master of hardcore!

He points to the burning fake Cactus Jack in the middle of the room.

Funk: This is your future, Mick. In just 2 weeks time it’ll be the real thing burning to the ground! Burning until Cactus Jack is completely no more! Burning until Cactus Jack is… dead.

‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock vs. ‘Psycho’ Sid Vicious

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1036/kenshamrock2.jpgvs.http://i45.tinypic.com/2j45xlv.jpg

Rumors had been surfacing on the internet that the contract of Sid Vicious was coming to an end very soon and Vince McMahon had no intention of offering the big man a new deal after he had become even more limited in the ring. He did however still have a big following and was a very popular wrestler, but Shamrock was a man on the rise and after his impressive Intercontinental title run earlier this year was perhaps destined for bigger things.

Shamrock’s wrestling ability had improved somewhat over the past few months and working a program with Kurt Angle was only going to help that out further, add this to his already decorated martial arts background and Shamrock was quickly becoming a match for anybody in the company.

He put Sid away with the terrifying ankle lock after some nervy moments caused by Sid’s raw power and strength.

Winner: Ken Shamrock

Match Rating: B-

http://i47.tinypic.com/34rxij5.jpg

The music of ‘The Wrestling Machine’ Kurt Angle hits and he comes out onto the ramp to confront Ken Shamrock.

Angle: (clapping) Impressive win Kenny, but there is no way you can compare this giant oaf in the ring to me, a physical specimen AND… Olympic Gold Medalist!

Shamrock butts in angering Angle.

Shamrock: Shut the hell up. No one wants to be listening to you ramble on about gold medals; oh let me guess you won it with a broken neck? Yeah wonder how I knew that huh?

Angle nods along mouthing away at Shamrock.

Shamrock: You’ve done nothing in this company and yet so many people out there think you’re the next big thing, future WWF Champion, well before you do all this Kurt, why don’t you beat me fair a square? No BS!

Angle: You’re damn right I’m a future WWF Champion and you’re damn right I’ll beat you wherever and whenever. I’ll break your freakin’ ankle!

Shamrock: Bring it on, Kurt, I’m thinking… submission match… at Summerslam!

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5528/jimcornetteaf0.jpg

The fans go crazy at the prospect, but their joy is interrupted by Commissioner Jim Cornette who joins Angle on the ramp.

Cornette: Whoa! Ken, don’t think you can just go around making matches like you run the show, truth is I run the show and truth is, however much I want to see you two in a submission match, we have no room for another match on the Summerslam card.

The crowd begin to boo clearly irate that the match can’t go ahead.

Cornette: Calm down, I did say I want to see the match take place so how about this. A month later at Breakdown this submission match will take place! It’ll be battle of the ankle locks!

Cornette’s music plays as the show cuts to commercial, Angle wears a sick smile as he stares down at Shamrock.

The Brother’s of Destruction and ‘The Innovator of Offense’ Chris Kanyon vs. ‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels, Triple H and ‘The Man Beast’ Rhino

http://i36.tinypic.com/14ipjwz.jpghttp://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpghttp://i48.tinypic.com/1z1zr6c.jpgvs.http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpghttp://i38.tinypic.com/73p8ns.jpghttp://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpg

The match started off slow and was very tense in the beginning. Summerslam was closing in and everybody in this match had an important role to play at the mega event. There was quite clearly two completely different storylines to this match, Shawn Michaels fighting The Brothers of Destruction and Chris Kanyon and Rhino. The latter was ready to explode at some point tonight, you could sense it, the suspense was there and it was built up further by Steamboat’s constant mumbling to Kanyon at ringside telling him not to get in the ring with Rhino.

The Undertaker and Kane were dominant, mainly dismantling Triple H as Michaels watched on worriedly from the apron, they showed no signs of splitting up and were tagging each other in and out with a good rhythm.

Soon enough though the match had turned from the slow, steady start into a much faster, upbeat brawl instigated by ‘The Man Beast’. Clearly frustrated that he wasn’t getting a piece of Kanyon tonight he suddenly charged across the ring and gored ‘The Innovator of Offense’ from his position on the apron. He tagged back in Kane and stepped out going to work on Kanyon. Steamboat clocked Rhino round the head biding his student some time and the brawl escalated into the crowd.

There was still a match going on in the ring though and it was basically just The Brothers of Destruction versus Triple H as Michaels had made it very clear he wanted nothing at all to do with the two behemoths. Triple H received a huge double chokeslam from both brothers and was covered immediately.

Winners: The Undertaker, Kane and Chris Kanyon

Match Rating: B+

Shawn Michaels was already off the apron and down the ramp as soon as Triple H’s fell from the double chokeslam. He was clearly hoping that by now The Brothers had imploded and he was in prime position for retaining his title, but if anything Michaels title hadn’t been in this much danger. He disappeared behind the curtain with a lot to think about going into the final stop before Summerslam.

Meanwhile, Rhino was getting the advantage of both Chris Kanyon and his mentor Rocky Steamboat. As the camera searched for the brawl through the crowd they found Steamboat clutching his head at a guardrail, replays showed Rhino sickly batter a steal chair over his head twice before sending him into the steel guard rail. The camera finally found the action; Kanyon was wobbling from side the side near the wall of the arena with Rhino nowhere to be seen. Suddenly Rhino charged from the black shadow. Gore! Kanyon went crashing through the wall, Rhino right behind him.

Ross: Bah gawd! What a mess to end Raw!

Lawler: Kanyon must be broken in half!

named team over random pairing

Goldust and ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes vs. Jeff Jarrett w. Marlena and ???

I go with JJ and mystery guy simply because I´m not sure if Dusty has much left at this point.

WWF European Title Match

‘The Street Fighter’ William Regal © vs. Captain Bradshaw w. Sgt Slaughter

Too early for a title change.

‘The Man Beast’ Rhino vs. The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker

Both have an important match at next PPV but Undertaker is the one in title match so he is more important.

‘The Wrestling Machine’ Kurt Angle vs. ‘The Big Red Monster’ Kane

Same here, Kane is in main event and thus stays strong.

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels vs. ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock

And champ is of course kept strong too.

Ross: Hello folks and welcome to the last stop before Summerslam! This is Raw is War, I’m Jim Ross joined as ever by Jerry ‘The King Lawler’.

Lawler: This is it JR, the last show before Summerslam. I’m so excited!

Ross: Bah gawd it will be one hell of a show, King!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suddenly Ross had to divert our attention to the titantron as Triple H was shown storming through doors backstage pushing his way past anybody in his path. He came to The Degeneration X locker room door and without hesitation nearly took the door off its hinges.

Michaels: What the hells up with you, Hunter?

Triple H: Are you being serious, Shawn? Were you not in that tag match last week? Oh that’s right you practically weren’t!

Michaels: Hey Hunter, come on bro, you were doing DX a favour last week.

Triple H: It’s still the same old sh*t, Shawn! I have match that I need to win at Summerslam and I want to concentrate my full effects on it.

Michaels: Hunter, your facing Owen at Summerslam which to me says it all. The wins in the bag bro and you know it.

Triple H: I don’t give a cr*p anymore, Shawn! Enough is enough and I’m not going to be doing your dirty work anymore. Other people may be more deserving of that title than you.

Michaels: And what’s that supposed to mean? I’ve beaten both Kane and The Undertaker to keep this belt and now I have to face them both in the same frickin’ match and you think I don’t deserve to be Champion!

Triple H just shrugged his shoulders at Michaels.

Michaels: Don’t even begin to say you should be getting a shot at this belt, Hunter! Don’t you dare! Your not even in my league pal, it’d be an embarrassment to the belt if you got the shot at the next pay per view.

Triple H stared straight at Michaels and then smiled out of the corner of his mouth, nodded a few times towards Michaels and then walked out of the locker room.

Bret: Come on, Shawn. A bit uncalled for that wasn’t it? I thought we’d moved past all this?

Michaels: He’s got a job to do, Bret and if he doesn’t want to do it anymore then I’ll find somebody else.

Lawler: Michaels doesn’t need this, JR. He’s getting ready for his biggest title fight of his life.

Ross: You gotta think though King Michaels already has his hands full with The Brothers of Destruction, he doesn’t need an unpredictable Triple H aswell going into Summerslam.

Lawler: Things could get very bad for Michaels, JR. Let’s hope he can sort it before Summerslam.

Ross: Well folks this was the scene a few hours ago when Vince McMahon arrived at the arena.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

A clip was shown on the titantron of Vince McMahon rolling up in his limo surrounded by security. He got out looking very anxious and immediately moved to talk to a security member seemingly to make sure there hadn’t been any sign of Austin around.

Ross: Vince McMahon really isn’t taken any chances tonight, King.

Lawler: You can’t move for security officials backstage, JR. There everywhere!

Ross: But will it stop Austin? I know Steve very well and he will want to make himself known tonight in some capacity.

This turned out to be the typical fast paced, high risk match you’d expect to see from these four athletes and was mostly dominating by The Hardy Boyz, who having stood up to Edge and Christian, had gained much more of a following this past few weeks and were ready for a pay per view match in a weeks time.

Loco and Michinoku were more of a team paired up to entertain the fans and help put on exciting tag team matches at the top of the show and this is exactly what they did everytime they were given the television time. They went out there and helped the Hardy’s the get over and were more than content to just have their little bits of offence thrown in. The Hardy’s wrapped up the victory following a twist of fate from Matt Hardy.

Winners: The Hardy Boyz

Match Rating: D+

The Hardy Boyz weren't allowed to catch their breath as Edge and Christian came bursting onto the scene and began to dismantle their Summerslam opponents. The Hardy’s attempted a fightback, but after wrestling the match at such a fast pace the surprise attack, it was too much for them to handle.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera panned backstage into the locker room of The Brothers of Destruction where Kane and The Undertaker were preparing for their matches later tonight.

Undertaker: Kane, you’ve been a bit off recently? You better not be letting Shawn get to you.

Kane just shook his head at Undertaker.

Undertaker: You know the plan? We take Shawn out tonight and then we can settle this on Sunday.

Kane again didn't speak, but this time nodded towards his brother and turned away. Undertaker obviously didn't take kindly to this apparent rudeness and grabbed Kane by the arm to turn him around.

Undertaker: What’s wrong with you?

Kane turned around swiftly and squared up to his brother bearing a huge scowl on his face. Undertaker, not wanting to be caught off guard, also squared up to his brother as the camera rolled to commercial.

Goldust and ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes vs. Jeff Jarrett w. Marlena and Sid Vicious

http://i35.tinypic.com/5vi21.jpghttp://i55.tinypic.com/282f75y.jpgvs.http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/8042/jeffjarrett.jpghttp://i45.tinypic.com/2j45xlv.jpg

Jeff Jarrett sauntered down to ringside accompanied by the immobile and robotic Sid Vicious creating quite a mismatch with Goldust partnering up with his father, a man now more interested in the non wrestling side nowadays. Sid still had the ability to frighten opponents and teamed with the arrogant yet talented Jarrett he was able to spend limited time in the ring utilising his strengths when needed.

Rhodes did have a golden moment hitting the bionic elbow on Jarrett, but Sid broke up the pinfall. Rhodes was the inevitable fall guy here though and took the Stroke from Jarrett who covered him for the pinfall and the momentum going into his title defence against Goldust in a week’s time.

Winners: Jarrett and Sid

Match Rating: C

The music of Terry Funk blared out around the arena and his arrival down the ramp was greeted with intense booing from the crowd who clearly weren’t happy with his actions towards Mankind in recent weeks.

Funk: Ahh I don’t care what you guys think. I only have one goal and its to kill that phony sell out Mick Foley.

The crowd’s booing suddenly becomes louder as they clearly didn't agree with the comment.

Funk: And this Sunday I’ll complete that goal, unless the beating I dished out at Fully Loaded did the job. Oh but I forgot, Cactus Jack is back!

The crowd popped at the mention of The Hardcore Legend, but Funk just smiled.

Funk: Well we’ve heard Cactus Jack is back. It’s all talk! Mick, if Cactus Jack has returned then show yourself! I want to hear the music I want to see The Hardcore Legend.

Funk lowered his microphone and watched down the ramp for Cactus Jack, but silence.

Funk: See! He hasn’t returned! Cactus Jack is no more! Mankind is no more! Mick Foley is no more!

WWF European Title Match

‘The Street Fighter’ William Regal © vs. Captain Bradshaw

http://i47.tinypic.com/28rfi2q.jpgvs.http://i32.tinypic.com/20hlbte.jpg

With the card for Summerslam stacked and unable to really feature another match, Bradshaw was given a rematch for the European Title here on Raw is War. It was always going to be a tough encounter, facing the intense, stiff fighting style of William Regal, but that said it was always going to be a tough battle for whoever was up against the rugged, raw power of Bradshaw.

It was a very even affair throughout with each wrestler trading offence with the other without really ever gaining a massive advantage. It was Regal who was finally able to get the edge though locking on the Regal stretch to which Bradshaw had to forfeit.

Winner and still European Champion, William Regal

Match Rating: C+

*If Ya Smell*

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4255/therock3.jpg

The crowd erupted as The Rock strode down to the ring mic in hand.

The Rock: FINALLY…The ROCK… HAS COME BACK... TO DETROIT and this Sunday The Rock is ready to kick some ass and take some names like only The Rock knows how by taking taking this boot, shine it up real nice, turn that sumbi*ch sideways and stick it straight up Bret Hart's candy ass!

The crowd popped as The Rock moved his sunglasses a little further down his nose.

The Rock: Because The Rock wants bigger things The Rock wants better things and it starts this Sunday. Summerslam. The hard work starts this Sunday because the fact of the matter is this The Rock will beat Bret Hart, hell if Bret wants a rematch, if after this colossal beating Bret will recieve this Sunday, he still wants to GO ONE ON ONE WITH THE GREAT ONE then The Rock will whip that jabroni's candy ass again and again as many times as it takes infront of the MILLIONS (and millions) of Rock's fans because The Rock, like everybody in this business, knows that Bret is washed up, he's best days are behind him and The Rock's best days are still to come...

He raised the eyebrow in appreciation of yet another pop from this sell out crowd here in Michigan.

The Rock: That is why this Sunday The Rock will slap that itty bitty smile right off Bret Hart's face... And then The Rock will go on, The Rock will train, The Rock will continue to win wrestling matches and then... The Rock will win the Royal Rumble!

The crowd popped once again as The Rock tried to get total silence in the arena.

The Rock: And then (shhh)... then The Rock will go onto to Wrestlemania and The Rock will become WWF Champion! IF YA SMELL LALALOW…WHAT THE ROCK…IS…COOOKING!

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6349/brethartl.jpghttp://i38.tinypic.com/73p8ns.jpg

Bret Hart’s music interrupted that of The Rock's and was met by deafening boos around the arena. Triple H accompanied him and both members of Degeneration X started to slowly walk down to join The Rock in the ring who was already bracing himself for action.

Bret: You think it'll be that easy do ya Rocky? You think you can walk into Summerslam, go up against the excellence of execution and walk out a winner? It doesn't work like that Rock and the sooner someone shuts you up the better.

By now Bret and Triple H were in the ring with The Rock and slowly moved closer to him.

Bret: What's a matter? Looking for Owen?

Bret started to laugh and rattled a pair of keys in his hand.

Bret: Owens a little stuck backstage at the minute Rocky so I guess it's just you, me and Triple H here.

Bret and Triple H suddenly made a move for The Rock whose attempts to fight out of the handicap situation were soon thwarted and D-X soon had complete control. Bret started talking trash to the Rock in between punches. Triple H soon hit his signature move and Bret wrapped things up with a few seconds of torture from the sharpshooter.

‘The Man Beast’ Rhino vs. The Lord of Darkness’ The Undertaker

http://i35.tinypic.com/2saf28o.jpgvs.http://i36.tinypic.com/14ipjwz.jpg

Despite this enormous step up in ability of his opponent, Rhino didn’t falter one bit and stood up to The Undertaker from the outset. He stared straight into The Undertaker’s cold, white eyes and went straight into action with the Deadman as soon as the bell was rang, he even caused The Undertaker plenty of problems in the early going as he clearly didn’t expect this incredibly, intense and pacey start from Rhino.

Undertaker soon had control of Rhino though and was able to use his raw power and size to tame him. Rhino held in there though and it was back and forth for a while until Undertaker caught Rhino off the top rope and turned it into a huge chokeslam.

Winner: The Undertaker

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6387/vincemcmahon1998.jpghttp://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5998/bigshow.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/34rxij5.jpghttp://i47.tinypic.com/28rfi2q.jpghttp://i48.tinypic.com/6xt7y0.jpghttp://img413.imageshack.us/img413/346/bambambigelowku3.jpg

The owner of the company Vince McMahon strolled down to the ring looking much more content than in recent weeks. He’s joined by the whole Corporation as fireworks started to explode around the arena, confetti began to fall from the rafters and the ring was given a more majestic look.

Vince: Ahhh, doesn’t that feel wonderful? An Austin free Raw. Get used to it because come Sunday it will be a formality.

The crowd started to throw jeers towards Vince.

Vince: You know what Austin I am a little disappointed in you tonight. I thought you might at least attempt to break in, throw around a couple of stunners, but my massive security team haven’t even noticed a whimper of you here tonight.

A deafening Austin chant erupted around the arena.

Vince: You can chant him, but he’s not gonna be able to answer your chants because he’s not here! He’s too scared and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s too much of a coward to face me at Summerslam!

Abruptly attention was diverted to the titantron which began to air live footage from backstage.

Man: Yeah you can go ahead and leave that truck there.

A huge truck was parked backstage as the man turned to the camera pulling off the fake moustache and cap to reveal ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin! The crowd went insane and Austin jumped inside the truck and started to ride it. Vince just looked on ominously before screaming at The Corporation to do something, but Austin was already making his way down to ringside on the truck.

*Breaking Glass*

http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpg

Austin parked the truck at ringside and stood on the top armed with a hose. The Corporation braced themselves in the ring as Austin started to douse everyone in sight in beer. The force from the hose was enough to send each member of The Corporation half way across the ring and onto the floor. Austin jumped into the ring and began handing out stunners left, right and centre before eying up a motionless Vince McMahon. Austin smiled at Vince who began to shake his head furiously, but was quickly stunned out of the ring aswell. Austin called for the customary beer for perhaps the last time as The Corporation retreated to the locker room.

‘The Wrestling Machine’ Kurt Angle vs. ‘The Big Red Monster’ Kane

http://i47.tinypic.com/34rxij5.jpgvs.http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpg

Angle was pumped and ready to go as soon as the bell was sounded and Kane couldn’t handle the early pace set as Angle stormed out of the blocks with suplex after suplex, hold after hold.

Kane ate everything Angle had to throw at him though and however impressive Angle was, Kane was even more so. After witnessing his brother beat Rhino earlier in the night Kane needed to make sure he beat Angle and managed to withstand the ankle lock for long periods of the match before putting Angle away with a tombstone piledriver. The message to Michaels was sent and now it was up to him to reiterate the brother’s victories in the main event.

Winner: Kane

Oh, Oh, Oooohhhhh,

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpg

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels is the first to emerge for the main event, but as he approaches the ring he moves straight for the announce table and grabs a microphone from ringside.

Michaels: Did I see a little tension tonight boys? I told you it wasn't possible. I said this belt would make you do it and there is no way you two can work together at Summerslam. It will be everyman for themselves. No i wanna keep this one short and sweet folks because I've got a little Irishman waiting for some Sweet Chin Music, but your looking at your WWF Champion going into Summerslam and your looking at your Champion coming out of Summerslam... Oh and ladies, Sunday night will be party time with The Heartbreak Kid!

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels vs. ‘The World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock

http://i49.tinypic.com/2lus9cg.jpgvs.http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1036/kenshamrock2.jpg

The chemistry between Michaels and Shamrock brought the match into ‘A’ grade standard and it was also helped by the incredibly hot crowd who were into the match from start to finish. A match against the Champion doesn’t come everyday and Ken Shamrock made sure he was at the top of his game tonight which surprised Michaels from the start, but he was able to up his game to match Shamrock.

The crowd was fully behind Shamrock to cause the upset and this aided him when things were looking bleak. In the centre of the ring he found himself with a chance at victory and rapidly locked in the ankle lock rallying the crowd even more. Michaels was tearing at his hair and trying to reach out to the ropes and finally he was able to kick off the relentless Shamrock and worm his way up to a vertical base with the support of the ropes.

Michaels was able to duck under Shamrock who came bolting at him. Shamrock was sent over the top rope as Michaels tried to regroup in the ring. As the referee’s count reached eight, Shamrock reentered the ring and began a slugging match with Michaels whose ankle was still causing him some distress. Shamrock whipped Michaels into the turnbuckle and Shamrock charged at him looking to hit a clothesline, but out of nowhere Sweet Chin Music!

Winner: Shawn Michaels

Match Rating: A

Both The Undertaker and Kane are on cue as Michaels struggles to stand after a tough fight. The jog down to the ring together and begin to decapitate Michaels before finishing him off with a double chokeslam and tossing him over the top rope.

The crowd could feel it, something was going to happen. Kane was stood in the ring staring at The Undertaker who turned to stare back at his brother. Undertaker moved a few steps closer and the crowd became even more excited, everybody was standing in the arena. Undertaker did his slitting throat taunt and Kane reacted. He struck his brother with a big uppercut. Undertaker responded and the two giants started trading huge blows in the centre of the ring as Michaels lay motionless at ringside. Undertaker seemed to be gaining the upperhand, but then Kane came back with a flurry of hard rights sending Undertaker wobbling into the ropes. Nothing could separate the two great monsters of the company.

They both backed away from each other and The Undertaker again did his signature taunt signaling for more, but instead Kane stepped out of the ring and begin to recoil down to the ramp as Undertaker stood transfixed in the ring.

Ross: Bah gawd they've turned! At Summerslam it will truly be every man for themself!

WWF Summerslam Preview

WWF Light Heavyweight Title Match

Great Sasuke © vs. ‘The Human Showcase’ Sean Waltman

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/8465/greatsasukeqs4.jpgvs.http://i47.tinypic.com/i5bwuq.jpg

A neck injury had ruled Waltman out of physical activity for months allowing Sasuke to continue as Champion with no real outright challenger; however Waltman knew his time would come and assembled a group to slowly pick apart the champion and his loyal followers week by week. What used to be a fun, action packed light heavyweight division has transformed into a war within the division with two sides led by Sasuke and Waltman. Who will claim the prize in this division’s biggest ever match since it’s introduction at the end of 1997?

‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Big Show

http://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpgvs.http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5998/bigshow.jpg

Big Show arrived on the scene only a month prior decapitating Flair and Austin at the end of their title defence at Fully Loaded. His immense size and power makes him a very rare and dangerous individual, but we haven’t really seen what The Corporation’s latest addition is capable of and here he has to go one on one with one of wrestling’s greatest ever, ‘Nature Boy Ric Flair’. Does Flair still have what it takes to play David and slay Big Show’s momentum this early in his WWF career?

Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9236/edge2z.jpghttp://i51.tinypic.com/okcxme.jpgvs.http://i45.tinypic.com/66999h.jpghttp://i45.tinypic.com/jt32bs.jpg

For once Edge and Christian go into a pay per view match knowing their opponents, but The Hardy Boyz have certainly proven to be E and C’s greatest challenge to date. Following two very cheap matches in the past month E and C have turned on their fans who have quickly sided with the exciting Hardy’s. The future of the Tag Team division lies quite possibly with these two teams and they are sure to clash again and again in the future, but at Summerslam will be get a fair and competitive wrestling match?

WWF Intercontinental Title Match

Jeff Jarrett w. Marlena vs. Goldust w. ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/8042/jeffjarrett.jpgvs.http://i35.tinypic.com/5vi21.jpg

After weeks of Goldust stalking Jeff Jarrett with him being non the wiser, he finally snapped when Goldust began playing his games with Marlena. Goldust didn't even need to ask for a title shot after that as Jarrett was more than happy to give him one just to get a match. These two have a long history which has boiled down to a title fight for the Intercontinental Championship. Will Jarrett be able to maintain his impressive run and keep the gold?

Winner becomes King of the Ring

The Rock vs. Bret ‘The Hitman Hart

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4255/therock3.jpgvs.http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6349/brethartl.jpg

Following The Rock's victory at King of the Ring, Bret Hart has made it very clear he dislikes The Great One and all he stands for stating he isn't a worthy King of the Ring. After weeks or back and forth Bret told The Rock he wants him to put his crown and title shot on the line at Summerslam to declare who is the best. Will The Rock be able to step up to the plate when he faces his biggest test to date?

Hardcore Match

Cactus Jack vs. ‘The Sick and Sadistic’ Terry Funk

http://i56.tinypic.com/219z5fq.jpgvs.http://i50.tinypic.com/wcojfl.jpg

After Mankind was beaten in an epically bloody and barbaric encounter at Fully Loaded, Mankind stated the night after that the attack had woken up the Hardcore Legend Cactus Jack, but Funk was quick to deny this saying that Cactus Jack couldn't fully return because Mick Foley wasn't the same man. We are yet to see the return of Cactus Jack on Raw, but if The Hardcore Legend returns tonight at Summerslam then this match will be like nothing the WWF has ever seen before or is likely to see again. The question is, will we see Cactus Jack?

Owen Hart vs. Triple H

http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpgvs.http://i38.tinypic.com/73p8ns.jpg

Way back at In Your House Triple H scored a cheap victory over Owen Hart and it has pained Owen ever since, but Owen has always had his hands full with other things to sort out the situation, but here at Summerslam he has the chance to prove that Triple H can’t survive one of the fastest rising stars in the company and most importantly, he can’t survive the sharpshooter.

Loser is Fired No Disqualifications Match! (Gerald Brisco as Ring Enforcer and Pat Patterson as Referee)

Vince McMahon vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6387/vincemcmahon1998.jpgvs.http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpg

Can anybody imagine a WWF without Vince McMahon or ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin? Well that will be the reality at the end of this match as one of the two will have to leave the company. The bitter feud that began way back in December has culminated in the two huge adversaries doing battle in the ring, but as we very well know, it won’t come down to wrestling ability. The outcome will undoubtedly come down to dirty tactics, outside interference, twists and turns. The Armed Forces have vowed to help Austin anyway they can, but with Brisco and Paterson basically in control of the match and The Corporation lurking, will Steve Austin really have a chance of keeping his WWF Contract?

WWF World Heavyweight Title Match

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels © vs. ‘Lord of the Darkness’ The Undertaker vs. ‘The Big Red Monster’ Kane

A blockbuster main event for the biggest party of the Summerslam. Shawn Michaels has defended the gold boldly and honorably so far and has been a very resilient champion beating the likes of Mankind, Owen Hart, Ken Shamrock, Kane and The Undertaker in various title defences since Wrestlemania, but here, at Summerslam, lays The Heartbreak’s biggest test taking on both Brother’s of Destruction who are hungry for the belt. The brothers finally turned on each on the final episode of Raw sparking a much more even contest and greatly improving Michaels chances of entering September with the belt.

WWF Light Heavyweight Title Match

Great Sasuke © vs. ‘The Human Showcase’ Sean Waltman

Sasuke have had a good run but I think that chainge will happen here.

‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Big Show

Could go either way but building Show up as unstopable monster seems like a better idea to me.

Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz

Coin flip but I go with Hardy´s winning this time. I assume this is a feud that will continue for a long time.

WWF Intercontinental Title Match

Jeff Jarrett © w. Marlena vs. Goldust w. ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes

Let´s give IC title to Goldust and see what he can do with it.

The Rock vs. Bret ‘The Hitman' Hart

Another one that could go either way but Rock is being build as one of your top faces while Bret is still part of DX.

Hardcore Match

Cactus Jack vs. ‘The Sick and Sadistic’ Terry Funk

Mankind was in a title picture not that far back so I´m pretty sure that Jack is higher on the ladders.

Owen Hart vs. Triple H

Another coin flip, I give this one to Triple H as it seems that he will be breaking away from DX soon and he could get a big win or two before his solo run really starts.

Loser is Fired No Disqualifications Match! (Gerald Brisco as Ring Enforcer and Pat Patterson as Referee)

Vince McMahon vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

I just don´t see Vince losing his authority spot so I go with Austin losing, taking a little while of and then coming back maybe as a commisioner or something similar.

WWF World Heavyweight Title Match

‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels © vs. ‘Lord of the Darkness’ The Undertaker vs. ‘The Big Red Monster’ Kane

Undertaker or Kane could well become the next champ but I think it´s more likely that HBK retains here and loses his belt to guy like Rock or Triple H instead.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry for the wait guys, been a bit ill and stuff so haven't felt like writing the show, but we're back into the swing of it now. Quite a stacked pay per view when you look at the card so I hope everyone enjoys it.

Summerslam was intended to be a big show, lots key events taking place, big matches, twists and turns. The subsequent pay per views Breakdown and Judgement Day aren't meant to be that sort of show at all, possibly just a bigger Raw if you like before Survivor Series which is what a lot of stuff if building towards and I show I've wanted to book since I started this diary way back in 2009.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

World Wrestling Federation presents… Summerslam!

http://i56.tinypic.com/30krjwo.gif

A video montage airs before the show even kicks off showing that Summerslam is a very special WWF event and the history dating back to 1988. The montage ends with most of the current top WWF stars including Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Steve Austin and Bret Hart aswell as what is considered the future of the company The Rock, Owen Hart, Triple H, Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett.

Once the video had finished we were greeted with the usual long, loud and spectacular pyrotechnic display which was bumped up even more than usual in celebration of one of the biggest events of the year. The camera panned around the arena showing the sell out crowd here at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado and their various inventive signs which were brought in the thousands. Finally the camera fell upon lead announcer Jim Ross.

Ross: Welcome folks to the Eleventh annual Summerslam! We here at a sell out Pepsi Arena in Denver and Jim Ross joined by Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and for this special event WWF Commissioner Jim Cornette here at ringside.

Cornette: Thanks for the welcome, JR and I cannot wait for this mega event to get started. I’ve only been in the job a month, but guys can you recall a more stacked event than tonight.

Ross: It certainly has everything, Jim.

Lawler: It’s spectacular! I can’t wait!

Cornette: The main event speaks for itself, but for me the one which to look forward to is the hardcore match. That one will is not to miss.

Ross: Two hardcore legends like Cactus Jack and Terry Funk going at it right here in the World Wrestling Federation was something that a few years ago would of just been a fantasy for these fans, but tonight it’s a reality.

Lawler: Don’t forget the big one tonight guys. The final appearance in the company for either Vince McMahon or Steve Austin.

Ross: We’ll have to say goodbye to one of them tonight, King and bah gawd please, please don’t let it be Stone Cold.

Great Sasuke © vs. ‘The Human Showcase’ Sean Waltman

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/8465/greatsasukeqs4.jpgvs.http://i47.tinypic.com/i5bwuq.jpg

After months of waiting the day had finally arrived, Sasuke and Waltman, the biggest match the Light Heavyweight division had seen so far. The pace was set from the start, Waltman and Sasuke came out of the blocks going high risk from the start and setting the tone for the show as the crowd was quite clearly ready for a wrestling event here tonight. They were expectedly behind Sasuke all the way, but Waltman was clearly the biggest challenge Sasuke had faced here and despite Waltman’s arrogance it looked like he did have the ability to back it up.

After some quick, exciting back and forth between Champion and Challenger in which Waltman seemed to be struggling, he gained an advantage with a cheap tactic and looked to slow down the pace much to the disappoint of the fans. This certainly favoured Waltman as he grounded Sasuke and kept him well away from the top rope which was fast becoming Sasuke’s best friend in the ring.

Waltman had Sasuke in big trouble, but as we’ve seen before Sasuke has the will and determination that other men don’t and his resilience was right at the top of the company. He fought back, the crowd getting right behind him, louder and louder. A right hand from Sasuke was followed by a dropkick sending Waltman into the ropes. He bounced off and Sasuke was up in time to nail him with a hurricanrana. Sasuke pointed to the skies instantly making the crowd pop as he went to ascend the turnbuckle. He dived from the very top flipping for the moonsault, but he Waltman had it scouted and Sasuke landed lungs first into his knees completing knocking the wind out of him. As Sasuke gasped for breath Waltman struck with the 1-2-3 kick ! Cover 2 and 3!

Winner and new WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, Sean Waltman

Match Rating: C+

Ross: Despite Sasuke’s greatest efforts we have a new Champion here in the Light Heavyweight division.

Cornette: Thank god the title is finally off that spot monkey. People like Waltman are exactly what I want my Light Heavyweight division to be about on Raw.

Lawler: I don’t think this one is over yet though, Jim.

The camera pans backstage into the car park to a worried looking Bret Hart. A limo pulls up and Triple H walks out. Bret quickly calls him over.

Bret: Hunter, come here, we need to sort this.

Triple H: There’s nothing to sort, Bret. It’s over. I’ve tried to reason with him and I’ve let you talk me round in the past, but this time it is over.

Bret: Let’s just get through tonight Hunter and we can talk about this. You’ll beat Owen, I’ll beat Rock and Michaels will retain the belt and I’m sure he’ll listen to you then. Facing both Kane and The Undertaker is a lot for anybody, he’s obviously going to be on edge.

Triple H: However much he’s got on his plate he should realise that we’ve been best friends for a long time and that should always come first. The thing is Bret I want the belt and being a part of DX, second in line to Shawn, just won’t get me the chance.

Bret: Don’t do anything stupid, Hunter. Please!

Triple H: (shaking his head) Just get out of my way I’ve got a match tonight.

Triple H pushes past Bret who looks back worryingly wondering if this really is the end of DX for Triple H.

Ambulance Match

‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Big Show

http://i47.tinypic.com/2q3xbpu.jpgvs.http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5998/bigshow.jpg

The ambulance slowly reversed to the ramp as Big Show and Flair watched on from the ring, but as soon as the bell sounded the match was very much over. Big Show came out running and hit Flair hard with a huge right hand. He made no mistakes and despite the occasional fightback from Flair he was able to keep on top and keeping wearing down the wrestling legend.

Blood was pouring from Flair, who some would say was a master of the bladejob, from the onset and it continued to do so with every massive hit he took from Show’s now crimson fist. It was a complete blood bath for Flair and nobody would have expected Show to be this dominate, especially Flair who laid down the challenge to the giant. Flair managed to crack Show in the skull with the ring bell, but Show shook the hit off like he had just banged his head. His colossal frame was just too much for Flair to cope with and now the loss of blood was certainly affecting him. His punches were nowhere near their target and everytime he stood up he was wobbling from side to side.

The brawl escalated to the ramp, but Flair still fought refusing to go in the ambulance. He swung the door at Show which winded him for a moment, but Flair was unable to make it count and just collapsed in a heap on the floor. Show stalked Flair as he clutched a steel chair. Everybody in the crowd was pleading with Flair to stay down, but he stumbled to his feet very slowly screaming profanity at Show who actually recoiled a little as he knocked Flair back down with a sickening chair shot. He hoisted Flair’s lifeless body onto his thick shoulder and chucked him into the ambulance slamming the door behind.

Winner: Big Show

Match Rating: B

Big Show dragged the driver from the ambulance and went round the back opening the doors. The next thing we saw was Flair thrown from the back of the ambulance. Big Show moved towards him and continued the heinous attack manhandling the bloody Flair around at ringside. He finished the attack by pulling up the mats at ringside exposing the concrete floor and chokeslamming Flair, his back cracking on the exposed concrete.

The camera goes backstage where Michael Cole is standing by with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. As Austin comes into view the fans suddenly perk up after seeing the horrific beating handed out moments earlier to Ric Flair.

Cole: I’d like you to welcome my guest at this time, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. Austin tonight we have just witnessed your friend Ric Flair brutally beaten by the Big Show. What's are your thoughts heading into the biggest match of your career without Flair by your side?

Austin: Well Michael Cole I saw this coming a mile away. Flair did the noble thing by trying to take on that giant and I thank him, but now my chances of victory tonight have been dented another blow. Course am gonna be thinking about Ric when I’m out there tonight, I’ll be hoping he’ll be okay, but tonight Austin has bigger things to worry about. To find a way to beat that sum bi*ch McMahon and get rid of his corporate ass! When I stun Vinny boy in that ring tonight I’ll dedicate his firing to my pal Ric Flair! And that’s the bottom line cos Stone Cold said so!

A video plays on the titantron giving us a glimpse of the recent feud between The Hardy’s and Edge and Christian. It shows:

• Edge and Christian getting disqualified at Fully Loaded last month.

• Edge exclaiming that a disqualification didn’t count as a defeat.

• The Hardy’s challenging E and C again only to get cheated out again on Raw.

• Edge and Christian’s slow heel turn as The Hardy’s turn into fan favourites.

• The Hardy’s challenging Edge and Christian to another match at Summerslam.

Edge and Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9236/edge2z.jpghttp://i51.tinypic.com/okcxme.jpgvs.http://i45.tinypic.com/jt32bs.jpghttp://i45.tinypic.com/66999h.jpg

The Hardy’s received their loudest pop to date as they entered the arena much to the disgust of Edge and Christian. The usual fast paced affair you’d expect from these two turned out quite the opposite in the early going. Both teams knew it was a big match and mistakes could not be made. For The Hardy’s it was their chance to cement their place with Edge and Christian at the top of the tag ranks.

Edge and Christian were up to their old tricks arrogantly attempting anything behind the referee’s back and there was little The Hardy’s could do, but to accept it and hope they weren’t cheated from victory once again.

It seemed Edge and Christian had it wrapped, a montage of dirty tactics and impressive tag team wrestling was keeping them firmly on top, but Matt, who had been isolated for the majority of the match, managed to make the hot tag to his brother Jeff who instantly, feeding from the crowd, was able to clean house and set The Hardy’s up.

1…

2…

Christian broke up the pinfall as Jeff seemed destined to pin Edge. Matt instantly entered the fray and clotheslined Christian to the outside sliding out of the ring to keep him at bay which ignited the crowd even more especially as Jeff began climbing the ropes. Swanton bomb! He covered Edge. The Hardy’s had done it!

Winners: The Hardy Boyz

Match Rating: D+

The camera fell backstage to the locker room of Degeneration X. Bret Hart was discussing the Triple H situation with Shawn Michaels.

Bret: I’m scared, Shawn. He’s deadly serious.

Michaels: Oh let him sulk! If he’s had enough then I’ve had enough. He can leave I’m sure I could quite easily find somebody else from that huge line of people queuing to team with The Heartbreak Kid.

Bret: I’m scared for your title! You never know what he’s gonna do.

Michaels: If he dares, Bret. If he dares interfere in my match tonight he will regret the day he was ever born.

Bret: That’s why I think it’d be best to sort this tonight, to avoid any of this.

Michaels: If he wants to come apologise then I might, MIGHT, accept it, but I’ve got a huge match to prepare for and this distraction is something I do no need right now, it’s the least of my worries.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backstage Michael Cole is standing by with The Rock.

Cole: I’m standing by backstage with The most electrifying man in Sports Entertainment, The Rock and Rock tonight…

The Rock holds up his hand indicating for Michael Cole to move the microphone towards him.

The Rock: FINALLY…The ROCK… HAS COME BACK... TO COLORADO! And tonight The Rock wishes that just for one night that you Michael Cole would just KNOW YOUR ROLR AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH.

The Rock pushed Michael Cole out of the picture and made a face as though he was just a bad smell.

The Rock: And tonight The Rock is ready to electrify the millions and millions of Rock’s fans as he whips the candy ass of that long haired jabroni Bret Hart! Bret Hart you think you still have it, but The Rock knows you lost it a long time ago. The Rock knows all you want to do is go home, turn on the fire, watch some day time tv and be in bed before 9 o’clock and tonight The Rock will make it happen. The Rock doesn’t mind, your getting old, you need your rest, it’s what people do, they retire when they get to this age. Don’t worry though The Rock will get you something to do, The Rock will get you a nice paper route on a morning, nothing too strenuous for a man of your age Bret.

The Rock didn’t ask for this match, you came out here and you ran your mouth and being King of the Ring, but the only reason you were King of the Ring back then is because you weren’t facing The Rock in the final. The jabroni beating, pie eating, trail blazing, eye brow raising, heart stoppin, elbow droppin, Bret after this The Rock advises immigrating to Bejing because tonight your one on one with The King of the Ring!

A video airs on the titantron showing the personal feud between Jeff Jarrett and Goldust.

• The friendship between Jarrett and Goldust before Jarrett turned on him.

• Jarrett capturing the Intercontinental Championship.

• Goldust stalking Jarrett without him knowing for weeks.

• Goldust frightening Marlena in Jarrett’s locker room leading to Jarrett pleading for a match with Goldust.

• Jarrett and Sid beating Goldust and his father on Raw.

WWF Intercontinental Title Match

Jeff Jarrett w. Marlena vs. Goldust w. ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/8042/jeffjarrett.jpgvs.http://i35.tinypic.com/5vi21.jpg

You could tell all Jarrett wanted to do was get his hands on Goldust, but he wisely took his time and started things off slowly. Jarrett had ascended somewhat in the company in this past year with a very successful Intercontinental Title run and already rumors were circling round that he was ready for the next step up. However Goldust was certainly his main priority right now and Jarrett wanted nothing more than to beat him at Summerslam and really punish his former friend.

The match itself could have gone either way. Once Jarrett had the edge his anger got the better of him and his mistakes allowed Goldust right back into the mix of things. Jarrett then seemed to realise his title was on the line and attempted to go for the stroke whenever he could which proved his downfall. Goldust was able to counter a stroke attempt and stunned Jarrett. He hit the curtain call and it was over out of nowhere. 1… 2… 3! A new champion was crowned at Summerslam!

Winner and new WWF Intercontinental Champion, Goldust

Match Rating: C+

Vince McMahon is backstage with Michael Cole.

Cole: I’d like you to welcome my guest at this time, the owner of the World Wrestling Federation, Mr. McMahon. Tonight you and Austin take part in a huge match with the loser fired from the company, what’s going through your head tonight?

Vince: When you have the brains and the brawn you don’t need to worry about a thing. Do you really think I would have asked for this match if I thought there was a chance I would be leaving the company? My company? Sure there is a small chance, a diminutive chance I may be without a job tomorrow, but in this game you have to take risks, it’s the reason I am the success that stands before you tonight. But this isn’t really a risk and if everybody plays their part then tonight I can say with great certainty and happiness that our friend Mr. Austin will never be seen in the World Wrestling Federation again!

Another video airs on the titantron emphasising the recent feud between The Rock and Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. It shows:

• The Rock beating Triple H to become King of the Ring.

• Bret interrupting The Rock’s crowning claiming he’s not the real King of the Ring.

• Bret and Triple H beating The Rock and Owen Hart in a tag match at Fully Loaded.

• Bret and Triple H attacking their opponents post match on Raw only for Austin and Flair to make the save.

• Bret challenging The Rock at Summerslam with his King of the Ring crown and title shot on the line.

• Bret along with Triple H attacking The Rock after locking Owen in his locker room last week.

The Rock vs. Bret ‘The Hitman Hart

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4255/therock3.jpgvs.http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6349/brethartl.jpg

Bret Hart took The Rock by surprise at the start and completely outwrestled the King of the Ring winner grounding him and keeping him on the mat. As you’d expect though from the arrogant and egotistical Hart, he seemed to think his bright start was going to be the story of the match and slowed things down giving The Rock plenty of openings to come back and even things up. The Rock’s offence usually followed a simple pattern. He’d explode into Bret with rights and lefts which excited the crowd, everything he did was usually very well received from the crowd and it helped The Rock become even more on top and his offence seemed to get stronger.

Things were starting to look bleak for The Great One as Bret’s lowblow behind the referee’s back allowed him to attach the sharpshooter for a good period of time seriously injuring the legs of The Rock who thankfully for him managed to break the hold otherwise another few seconds would have probably meant the end.

The Rock knew what was on the line, his King of the Ring title which he had worked so hard this year to achieve, he had his place in WWF history there, but the main thing was his chance to escalate into the title scene. His World title shot he won at King of the Ring was on the line, a title shot The Rock could use whenever he wanted during the next year. This was what he was fighting for and the crowd wanted The Rock to keep that title shot so badly. For Bret though it was more about pride, proving he was still the best after people were beginning to doubt he still had the ability of a few years back, the title shot was just a bonus.

The Rock was fighting back backing Bret into the corner with a barrage of rights and lefts. He was struggling to stand, but will and determination was keeping him going. He fell into the ropes, but was able to explode out and clothesline Bret to the ground; however The Rock fell with him. The Rock struggled once again to his feet, but Bret grabbed his foot and dragged him back to the ground locking on the sharpshooter once again. The Rock fought and fought for the ropes, but Bret won back some leverage and pulled The Rock to the centre of the ring. The Rock was fading fast and probably had one last attempt in him to break the hold. He started wiggling around and somehow managed to turn the sharpshooter into a pinfall! One… Two… Three!

Winner: The Rock

Match Rating: B+

Backstage Shawn Michaels is stood mic in hand ready for shoot promo.

Michaels: Tonight I admit that I face my biggest challenge to date. The biggest title fight the heartbreak Kid has ever been in, literally! I mean you two guys are huge! Fourteen foot between you! Nearly seven hundred pounds! Dear god and then there’s little six foot, two hundred and twenty pound Shawn Michaels, but does it really matter! No! The only thing that matters is this World Heavyweight Title and last I looked that Title belongs to me, it belongs to the best wrestler currently employed in the company and nobody NOBODY can argue against me being the best!

You know what The Heartbreak Kid likes most? A challenge! I like to go out there with the odds stacked against me and prove night after night why I’m the best. There’s no feeling like it! So tonight, Undertaker, Kane, whichever of you it may be that has the misfortune to wander into sweet chin music, just remember, at least you were beaten by the best.

A video plays on the titantron hyping up the hardcore match between Cactus Jack and Terry Funk. It shows:

• Terry Funk beating Mankind within an inch of his life in their hardcore match back at Fully Loaded.

• Funk ignoring the pleas of his wife and piledriving Mankind onto a burning 2x4 covered in barbed wire post match.

• Mankind claiming that the attack had woken the hardcore legend, Cactus Jack.

• Funk denying the claims that Jack was back saying Mick Foley wasn’t the man he used to be.

• Funk burning a fake Cactus Jack on Raw claiming if he did return this would be his fate at Summerslam.

• Funk calling out Jack on the final Raw before Summerslam, but nobody came out to meet Funk in the ring.

A chorus of boos rang around the arena as Terry Funk made his way to ringside wielding a 2 x 4 already up in flames, as he entered the ring he paused for a moment before leveling himself in the head with the flaming 2 x 4. He flinched for a moment before smiling as a trickle of blood poured into his eye. The crowd fell silent as everybody awaiting the entrance of Cactus Jack, was he really back?

http://i56.tinypic.com/219z5fq.jpg

Unfamiliar music to the WWF fans hit the arena, but they knew instantly who it was. It was indeed Cactus Jack dressed in his usual attire and carrying his favourite weapon, Barbie, a baseball bat wrapped entirely in barbed wire.

Funk’s face was a picture, he couldn’t believe it. He started shaking his head in disbelief as Jack began to circle the ring. The most barbaric and bloodiest match the WWF had witnessed was about to begin.

Hardcore Match

Cactus Jack vs. ‘The Sick and Sadistic’ Terry Funk

http://i54.tinypic.com/2ic15ja.jpgvs.http://i50.tinypic.com/wcojfl.jpg

As Funk and Jack circled each other at the start everybody was on the edge of their seats, the suspense had been building all month and now it the two hardcore legends of wrestling were about to collide. They threw their weapons aside, but Funk quickly pulled out some barbed wire from his pocket wrapped his fist in it and took a huge swing at Jack cutting him above the eye. As blood poured from the cut into Jack’s eye, Jim Ross stated his worry for Jack’s visibility throughout the rest of the match.

It was like nothing a WWF audience had ever experienced before even including the two’s bloody hardcore match last month, because here in Colorado, Cactus Jack had truly made his return. Nobody had an intention of going for a pinfall despite the sheer levels of punishment each had taken already. The resilience was incredible. If it was anybody else the referee might have decided to stop the match, but he had been given strict orders before to continue the match until there was a pinfall. You could see the shock on his face as more blood flew from Funk’s skull inflicted by Jack driving a screwdriver deep into the open wound.

At this point each competitor had taken an unworldly amount of punishment with years not only taken from their careers, but surely their lives aswell. It was just unbelievable how they both got straight back to their feet, albeit very groggily and each with a crimson mask, but they never stayed down nonetheless. It was almost as though they were both having fun, rolling back the years to their ECW days something they probably thought was way behind them at this point in their careers.

It seemed the intense loss of blood was starting to take its toll of both men, but mostly the aging Terry Funk. He would rise to his feet and immediately fall back down. Jack saw this as a chance to make the first cover of the night.

One…

Two…

Thrr…

Despite this though Funk kicked out still showing signs of life, but he was seriously struggling now to mount any sort of offense. Jack lifted Funk up and onto the top rope. Piledriver onto a steel chair! Funk started to spasm out of control as Jack made another cover.

One…

Two…

Thhhhrrrr…

Jack sat up almost expecting Funk to have kicked out. They knew each other so well, he knew what it would take to really put Funk away, but it was like he didn’t want to go there. Again Jack tried something different to put Funk away involving other kinds of weaponry, but again kicked out. Jack reluctantly made his way out of the ring and lifted up the steps picking up a bottle of lighter fluid and then reentered the ring and stared at the lifeless Funk. The crowd then gasped and Ross couldn’t believe his eyes as Jack emptied the bottle of lighter fluid onto Funk and then made his way to ringside and set up two tables next to the apron. He rolled Funk through the ropes and onto the tables and began to climb to ropes to the top.

Suddenly as Jack turned around Funk was on his feet using to ropes to keep him up. He stared at Jack through his sticky, red hair which was covering his eyes and shouted at Jack.

Funk:
Do it! Prove you’re still a hardcore legend!

Jack hesitated for a moment as he held a lit match in his hand as Funk screamed at him to light him on fire. And then he did it! Screams could be heard from the crowd and announce table as Funk went up in flames. Cactus Jack flew from the turnbuckle and collided with the flaming Funk sending him catapulting through the two tables, the impact putting out the fire. Both men started spasming uncontrollably as the smell of burning flesh flooded into the arena. Jack instinctively draped an arm over Funk and the referee counted the three at ringside.

Winner: Cactus Jack

Match Rating: B+

Lawler: This smell is just making me plain sick, JR.

Ross: It's a nasty smell, King, but bah gawd i've never seen anything quite like that.

Cornette: It just isn't wrestling guys. Thank god this little charade between this two clowns is finally over.

Backstage Michael Cole is seen waiting outside Owen Hart’s locker room.

Cole: Owen, Owen! Can I have a few words? Your match against Triple H is up next!

Owen: Your damn right its up next Michael Cole so you should know I need to get out to the ring, but a few words, well Michael Cole revenge is sweet and tonight revenge will be happening right here in Colorado!

A Video plays on the titantron highlighting the bitter feud between Owen Hart and Triple H. It shows:

• Triple H scoring a cheap victory over Owen Hart way back at In Your House.

• Owen beating Bret Hart ending their feud.

• Owen then, the next night on Raw, exclaiming he had unfinished business with Triple H.

• Owen and losing to Triple H in tag team action at Fully Loaded.

• Owen challenging Triple H to a one on one at Summerslam.

Owen Hart vs. Triple H

http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpgvs.http://i38.tinypic.com/73p8ns.jpg

The hatred between these two instigated way back last year and it was still ever present eight months on. Owen Hart needed this victory, but he new that Triple H would do everything he could to ensure he registered a second victory over Owen Hart, even if a little rule bending was required.

Both men were masters in the ring, even at their early ages, and it made for a quite tentative start as each tried to get a feel for the other and find the pace without giving too much away. It took a long time for the match to really take off, but the fans expected that it by no means took anything away from what they expected to be a great match. Infact it added too it, any real wrestling fan would know that when too masters of psychology came together they would be treated to a real wrestling rollercoaster.

Triple H began to take control after Owen Hart seemed to fall awkwardly from the top rope, a place he wasn’t used to going. His ankle was clearly hurt and he was having trouble standing. The intelligence of Triple H started to show through and it immediately began targeting the ankle with a series of leg maneuvers twisting a turning the ankle, but Owen hung in there as the fans rallied behind him.

Triple H began using various degrees of ankle lock continuing to manipulate the ankle and it was clear Owen was in some serious pain. He tried to fight out using his other leg to brutally hack at Triple H’s head, but as he tried to stand his ankle gave way and Triple H’s relentless assault continued. It was a very smart approach by Triple H, by keeping Owen Hart grounded he would be unable to apply the devastating sharpshooter.

With Owen Hart lying in a world of agony on the mat, Triple H started to remove the rubber protecting the steel post until he was caught by the referee who immediately to cover it back up. Owen Hart was desperate and as Triple H moved back to inflict more pain, he took a leaf out of his opponents book and hit Triple H with a lowblow. Triple H crumbled to the mat and Owen Hart had a little time.

Owen was able to mount some offence and battled Triple H onto the outside. He launched him into the steel steps, but intended to keep the war out of the ring as he constantly rolled back in to break up the referee’s ten counts. Triple H grimaced in pain as Owen sent him crashing once again into the unforgiving steel steps. The pain writhing through his ankle was sent to the back of his mind as he had control of his bitter rival and was now in charge. It was as though Owen was the judge punishing a criminal in court and Owen would make sure Triple H received a hefty sentence.

Finally the bout was taken back into the ring as Owen hit a Russian leg sweep on Triple H and immediately went for the cover.

One…

Two...

Triple H kicked out. Owen stumbled from the ropes and dropped his knee onto the leg of Triple H a couple of times and then went for the ultimate punishment. The Sharpshooter. Triple H fought for his life as Owen began to turn him onto his back. He locked it in! Triple H started to fight with everything he had to break the hold, but Owen was relentless and added more pressure by arching his back, but soon enough the pain from his ankle was too much and he was forced to let go.

Both men slowly clambered their way to a vertical base, the sharpshooter clearly did enough to stop the speed and momentum of Triple H who was struggling just as much as the injured Owen now. Blows were traded in the centre of the ring which culminated in a pedigree attempt from Triple H. No, Owen was able to shuffle out of the move and fired Triple H into the ropes. He rebounded and used all his weight to floor Owen. He picked Owen up and attempted another pedigree, but Owen tossed Triple H over him countering the finishing move. Quickly Owen moved to the legs of Triple H. He locked in the sharpshooter. The pain was etched all over Triple H’s face. It was unbearable, but somehow Triple H fought on, stretching the ropes, but Owen pulled him back. All his hard work had vanished and now Triple H would have to try again to break the hold. He was fading fast, and after one last gasp attempt to break the sharpshooter, Triple H decided enough was enough and tapped to Owen Hart.

Winner: Owen Hart

Match Rating: B+

Loser is Fired No Disqualifications Match! (Gerald Brisco as Ring Enforcer and Pat Patterson as Referee)

Vince McMahon vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6387/vincemcmahon1998.jpgvs.http://i34.tinypic.com/2pqnjhd.jpg

A world without Vince McMahon or ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin? This was the reality that faced the World Wrestling Federation upon the climax of this extraordinary match. A match filled with so much hatred and dislike that the only way to end the feud would be for one man to leave the company forever. The bout was no disqualifications and with so much on the line each had their plans, strategies on how they would keep their jobs. It mostly involved other participants. McMahon had the whole Corporation behind him and as the owner of the company only he knew what other might he possessed in this match. Austin was at a serious disadvantage which was dealt an even bigger blow with the brutal beating handed to Ric Flair earlier in the night, however The Armed Forced had vowed to do all they can to help Austin overcome Vince here tonight.

Surprisingly Vince arrived at ringside only accompanied by Patterson and Brisco, the special guest referee and ring enforcer for the bout. As soon as the bell sounded though Vince ran for his life up the ramp as Austin gave chase. He was soon greeted by The whole Corporation on the ramp as Kurt Angle, William Regal, Big Show, Vader and Bigelow all appeared from behind the curtain and Vince cowered behind his unit. The Corporation were soon fighting Austin who bravely attempted to take on all five of them, he was fading fast though until The Armed Forces showed up led by Sgt. Slaughter. Captain Bradshaw and Privates Kama and D’lo joined the action, but McMahon’s team were still a man up overall.

The brawling soon escalated into the crowd and backstage as Kama, D’lo and Bradshaw kept Vader, Bigelow and Regal busy. This left just Slaughter and Austin at ringside taking on Angle, Show and McMahon. Show was dominant and Angle was relentless, Slaughter did his best fighting his heart out for Austin, but the workload mostly fell on Austin who was in whole world of trouble once Show had chokeslammed Slaughter from the stage and into the electrical equipment. McMahon ordered his henchmen to take Austin into the ring where the beatdown ensued.

It was hard to watch for the WWF audience, Austin’s career being beaten out of him, every chair shot, chokeslam, ankle lock took its toll and even with Austin’s career on the line, something had to put him away eventually. He had withstood so much already, but it was Vince who had to come up with the pinfall in the end.

The occasional Austin fightback was greeted with a roar of approval from the crowd, but three on one was just too much for any man to deal with, even with a sold out Pepsi Arena fully behind you, but then something changed…

Wooooooooooooo!

Ric Flair arrived! Battered and bruised Ric Flair limped his way to the ring. Show and Angle came to meet him at ringside, but Flair had momentum on his side. The pain had disappeared momentarily as Flair chopped his way through Vince’s henchmen as Vince looked on horrified. Austin began to stir in the ring and leveled Vince with a chair shot as he turned around. Austin began screaming profanities at Vince as blood trickled from his bald head down his face.

Austin and Flair were hot and stunners began to fly at ringside, first to Show and then to Angle as Austin then homed back in to Vince who was trying to flee once again. He backed into the corner pleading with Austin to have mercy, but it was no use, Austin wasn’t going to listen. He started stomping a mudhole into Vince and then allowed Flair to have a little fun of his own. Patterson tried to help Vince out, but he received a stunner for his troubles, as did Brisco the special ring enforcer. All Vince’s team had been wiped out.

Austin signaled for the end. Flair held Vince up, who had been crippled moments earlier by the figure four leglock, and Austin hit the stunner as the sold out crowd erupted. Austin went for the cover, but there was no referee. Finally a referee sprinted from the back and started counting to pinfall. Austin was staying with the company!

No! Nobody could believe it! At ringside a man believed to be a cameraman had ripped off his disguise to reveal Austin’s former friend Shane McMahon, the bosses son! Shane had quickly slid into the ring and broken up the three count. He backed away down the ramp to a chorus of boos as Flair and Austin looked on astonished. Then Big Show reentered the fray and leveled both Flair and Austin with the steel lying in the ring. Angle was on hand with another chair and as Austin winced and turned around from the shot to his back another chair was implanted into the skull. He collapsed in a heap as Big Show tossed Ric from the action. Angle threw Vince onto Austin’s lifeless body and Shane quickly sprinted back down to the ring stripping down to reveal a referee’s uniform.

The camera cuts backstage where The Undertaker is shown warming up for the imminent title fight, he’s punching a punching bag in his locker room looking pumped up and ready to go. The camera then cuts to Kane who is shouting and screaming at the wall, throwing his arms around. The Champion Shawn Michaels is next as we witness him just sat on a bench in near darkness just clutching his World Heavyweight Title.

Ross: And that one is up next folks!

The crowd sensed tonight we would see a new Champion, maybe it was the odds being firmly stacked against the Champion, he didn’t even need to be pinned to lose the belt tonight, or maybe it was just because both The Undertaker and Kane were deserving of the belt. Their immense physical presence and intimidating demeanor would make a great Champion and focal point of the company, something different to what we had witnessed this year.

The start of the match wasn’t the tentative circling around the ring you’d expect. No, instead The Undertaker and Kane collided hard from the onset leaving Michaels to have an effortless few minutes as he stayed mostly stationed by the ropes and awaited his chance to throw a sharp kick to either opponent if the opportunity presented itself and it wouldn’t put him in too much danger. It was common knowledge that Michaels was a fighting Champion, but he was also very intelligent and seeking an early advantage by allowing Kane and The Undertaker to take most of the punishment was only to be expected by anyone given the task of facing both behemoths at one time.

Soon enough though Michaels choose to enter himself firmly into the match jumping onto the top rope from the apron, bouncing off and hitting Kane with a perfect dropkick displaying his athleticism, an attribute he certainly held over by his opponents. Undertaker moved straight for Michaels and now a three way dance for the World Heavyweight Championship had truly begun.

After a further few minutes so real contender had been discovered it was all back and forth from all three. Counter wrestling at its most paramount. Michaels was at the forefront as Kane and The Undertaker seemed to be targeting him a lot more now, but they couldn’t keep him down. He had arrived into this match wanting to prove himself as the best and it was exactly what he was doing. It was as though the challenge had increased his wrestling ability and strength. Then out of nowhere, Kane, who had been recovering at ringsider, leapt from the top rope and took down both men in the centre of the ring.

With a triple threat match comes no disqualifications, no count outs and Kane quickly went to the outside to fetch a chair from ringside, but Michaels met him on the outside and as Kane swung back the chair he was hit with sweet chin music! Kane’s colossal frame plunged onto the announce table as Michaels picked up the chair and turned to find Undertaker flying through the ropes headfirst at him. Instinctively Michaels held the chair out and Undertaker’s skull cannoned with the steel causing the crowd to gasp. Michaels had something brewing in his brain and lifted Undertaker up placing him on top of Kane on the table. He ascended the top rope and paused for a moment looking a little scared about what he was about to do. He stared down at the World Heavyweight Championship and then leapt from the top rope moonsaulting onto the pile of bodies on the announce table instantly breaking the table upon impact igniting a magnitude of ‘holy sh*t’ chants and leaving JR screaming ‘bah gawd’.

It was certainly a turning point and Kane had the worst of it, he was at the bottom and easily felt the force the worst. Michaels was up first, but it was clear he was hurt aswell. He rolled back into the ring and was soon followed by The Undertaker. They traded blows in the ring and after Undertaker connected with two in a row Michaels, realising he wasn’t going to come out on top slugging it out with The Deadman, ducked and hit sweet chin music! Undertaker collapsed in the centre of the ring.

Thhhrrr…

Undertaker kicked out! Michaels was in disbelief and stood there transfixed as Undertaker then sat up. Michaels tried to keep him grounded, but Undertaker fought back backing Michaels into the corner and then with a series of punches began working the body. He picked Michaels up dropped him on the turnbuckle and then connected with a big boot. As Michaels lay there he began stalking him his arm in the air. Michaels got to his feet and Undertaker grasped him around the neck and lifted him in the air, but at that moment Kane stormed back into the ring and clobbered Undertaker around the head with a chair. He picked Michaels up and hit a chokeslam!

Michaels kicked out! Angry at the kick out Kane began unloading with rights and lefts onto the defenseless Michaels. Undertaker slowly got to his feet holding his head as Michaels began a fightback on Kane. Kane whipped him into the ropes, but Michaels leapt over him landed on his feet and flattened the Big Red Monster with a sweet chin music. Michaels covered Kane and it had to be over!

Undertaker broke up the pinfall saving his title ambitions. He went straight to work on Michaels tossing him hard into the turnbuckle and charged at the Champion. Michaels rolled out of the way and Undertaker collided with the turnbuckle with great impact. Michaels was really feeling it now and started tuning up the band as Undertaker rested up in the corner. The Deadman turned around, but caught Michaels’ sweet chin music attempt mid air. Michaels spun away from Undertaker and sent him flying to the mat with a dropkick. All three men were down and then familiar music was heard…

Triple H stormed out from the back and Ross instantly began throwing accusations at him that he was here to end Michaels title reign. He grabbed a chair at ringside and entered the ring, but Michaels was up and stared at Triple H hard. The crowd were on their feet ready to see DX explode right here at Summerslam. Michaels looked ready for a fight, but then Triple H extended his hand to his best friend. Michaels seemed a little hesitant at first, but then grasped Triple H by the hand. Triple H then backed off as Undertaker sat up. He got to his feet and started throwing punches at Michaels as Triple H stood there in the corner still with the steel chair. Then suddenly he took his chance and swung at Undertaker who had just turned towards him. The Deadman ducked and the chairshot cannoned off Michaels head. Triple H stood transfixed to the spot horrified by what he had just done. Undertaker was ready to capitalise though as Kane was stirring at ringside. He chokeslammed a ghost like Triple H and then hoisted the lifeless Michaels onto his shoulder. Tombestone!

Winner and new WWF World Heavyweight Champion, The Undertaker

Match Rating: A

Ross: Bah gawd we have a new Champion

Cornette: Thank god that egomaniac is no longer the Champion on my show. Good riddance Shawn Michaels.

Lawler: But look Michaels is realising what happened! Will DX be the same again?

Triple H slid out of the rind and began to retreat up the ramp and Michaels scowled at him from the ring. He looked scared as he pleaded with Michaels that he didn’t mean it, but Michaels didn’t seem interested in his apologies.

Undertaker flung the belt over his shoulder, stuck out his long tongue and rolled back his eyes as Ross announced the end of Summerslam.

Ross: Bah gawd! It’s too much to take in. Be sure to tune in tomorrow night as we began sadly begin life without Steve Austin and we will hopefully get some answers from within DX. I’ve been Jim Ross and this had been Summerslam! Bah gawd I can’t believe what we’ve seen tonight…
