Phil Parent
I'm looking for your feedback on this. It's a work in progress, fully original work, and far from being finished. It has mostly venues from the US, Canada and Japan, with sprinkles of England and Mexico, and a handful of venues from other countries. When completed, it will be very thorough. It has 2099 venues in so far. The zip contains a mostly empty data set with my venues file and a match file that's not from me. So preview the venues in the editor. What do you think?RaveX 2009.zip
I Rule Me
there's really no need for so many venues. You really only need one of each size for each region.
mike b
I love lots of venues just so i have a wide choice to choose from... but thats just me
BHK1978
Yeah I can see both points but I am like Mike b the more venues the better, as it is more realistic that way.
SweetHolyMoses
there's really no need for so many venues. You really only need one of each size for each region. Not true. Finding the right sized venue that draws the right kind of crowd is important, too. Phil: I've been waiting for something like this to come out for a very long time. Thanks for your good work. Phil Parent
I agree with the last two guys personally, that's why I do the file... I think there's overkill, like you could have a Knights Of Columbus Hall in almost every town in America, and every school that has a gym could be in, but I don't think my files is overkill. flashmagic
Many of your Mexican locales are in the wrong region Arena Mexico, Arena Puebla, Coliseo Coacalco, Arena Naucalpan, & Plaza De Toro Tula all belong in the South Eastern region (the basic line for that region is Mexico City/DF & anything to the south & east of it)
Remianen
there's really no need for so many venues. You really only need one of each size for each region. You really only need one match type for each pairing (1v1, 2v2, etc). NEED is highly subjective. Considering the fact that in reality, as Phil pointed out, there are wrestling shows held in the parking lot of shopping malls (what, do you think 'local' sized promotions book arenas?) and VFW halls are regularly booked for events, having more is never a bad thing (if you're into the variety aspect). Heck, I've been to shows held in community centers (and everywhere there's a housing project or low to middle income housing, there's a community center) so this doesn't even approach overkill. Good stuff, Phil.

MrCanada
I tend to always use the default location file, mainly because released ones are either large for the sake of being large, or not complete enough (see above comment about regions needing locations with varrying audiences, not all just "entertainment-huge")... Will give this one a look though.

I agree 100%, I mean hell, I used to go and watch wrestling in this old rundown mill in Fall River, Ma. (Scotty 2 Hotty and Justin Icredible used to be regulars for this indy promotion before they made it to the WWF). I also used to go watching wrestling at this VFW Hall where the wrestlers could do nothing off the top ropes because the ceiling fans were so low. (Hank the Angry Dwarf, from Howard Stern, used to come to these shows every month and he would get drunk out of the mind and yell at the wrestlers all of the time and challenge them to fights.). My point being like Remianen said, this is no where even close to overkill.
BHK1978
Just noticed that you have the Connecticut Arenas in the Tri State area when they should be in New England and you have the Pennsylvania Arenas in the Mid Atlantic area when they should be in New England. dvdWarrior
I tend to always use the default location file, mainly because released ones are either large for the sake of being large That's usually my problem with location files also. With the default file, though, it seemed likely that every once in a while, TCW and the SWF would hold their shows at the same venue. The mere thought of that.... gets on my nerves a bit. Most locations files I've seen are too big for my taste, but I like to at least make sure that every major city is represented.
Phreak
I havent had time to check this out just yet, but one quick question I have regarding it. Are the fan types streamlined by area or is it on a venue by venue basis? ~PhreaK

Phil Parent
Thanks for yòur feedback guys! According to many sites I visited... Tri-State is defined roughly as NY, NJ and CT. New England is defined as Maine, Mass, NH, RI and VT. CT too, but since you have to put them in one region and only one, I put them in Tri-State. So Pennsylvania is in Mid-Atlantic. I'll see about the Mexican venues.
Alec_Burkhardt
There are many different Tri-States across the US. For TEW, Tri-State refers to NY, NJ & Pennsylvania. Somewhere there is a map that shows the breakdown - I'll see if I can find that thread and provide a link. Quick search brought up too many threads. Anyway, here's the image file I saved a long time aga: http://www.s90120014.onlinehome.us/files/tew/TEWUSARegions.jpg

That's true geographically but not in wrestling terms. In wrestling terms, PA is part of the Tri-State (it's what gives the area its Hardcore draw). Connecticut is New England, in wrestling terms. The only real reason CT becomes the third side of the Tri-State triangle is its proximity to NYC (which also lends to it being considered part of the Greater New York residential area). If you look at the default locations file, you'll see how the split works wrestling wise.
