JTG pinned Chavo Guerrero with a sunset flip in 8:11 Striker and Grisham comment that JTG's Cryme Tyme partner Shad is on the shelf with a knee injury but will return within the first couple of months of 2011 and Cryme Tyme will be making a pay for the Unified Tag Team Titles held by the Specialists. Dolph Ziggler is ejected to the back and Chavo beats on JTG, gaining nearfalls but a power bomb is reversed into a sunset flip. (C-) Mark Henry pinned Caylen Croft with the World's Strongest Slam in 4:11 Trent Baretta was chased to the back by the Big Show, leaving a one on one match between Henry. Croft tried a cross body press but it was countered into the World's Strongest Slam for the pin. Henry and Show are ready for their Unified Tag Team Title Match against the Specialsts at the Royal Rumble. (C+) Tomorrow night the final Friday Night Smackdown of the year. A return match from TLC featuring the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Title Christian going one on one with Chris Jericho. You don't want to miss it, New Years Eve on Smackdown. A recap of recent events involving Cody Rhodes and Chris Masters, not to mention Santino and Zack Ryder leading up to a tag team match with Masters and Santino against Ryder and Rhodes. Chris Masters and Santino defeated Zack Ryder and Cody Rhodes when Santino pins Ryder with a roll up in 3:55 Rhodes is not happy having to team up with Ryder and turns, cutting a promo, talking about how he is a second generation superstar and what did Zack Ryder's daddy ever do for the wrestling business? Meanwhile, Ryder is beaten up two on one in the ring, as Rhodes vows to become the WWE Champion by winning the Royal Rumble and walks to the back, as Masters hits him a clothesline into a roll up from Santino to get the win. Ryder is put in the Masterlock for good measure but Masters is disappointed that he did not get his hands on Cody Rhodes. (D+) A recap of RAW, showing the highlights involving Edge and CM Punk and also Jack Swagger's quest to become the United States Champion, attacking R-Truth and Rene Dupree on RAW and then both members of the World's Greatest Tag Team on Smackdown. Gail Kim pinned Mia Mancini with a Victory Roll in 11:11 Maryse joins us on commentary, talking about how she had to get months of reconstructive surgery to restore her beauty after what Beth Phoenix did to her at Hell in a Cell and says that she was proud that Katie Lea gave Beth Phoenix a concussion at TLC, but she fears that it didn't do too much damage, because Phoenix doesn't have a brain to damage. Back and forth battle, with Maryse stating that Mancini is forbidden to challenge for the Unified Women's Title, because that doesn't fit her agenda right now and Mancini is a tool and when she gets broken, Maryse will just replace her and throw her in the scrap heap. Mancini seems frustrated as Gail Kim has an answer for a lot of her offense. Electric chair suplex is countered with a Victory Roll for the pin. (C+) Maryse enters the ring, to dress down Mancini but Mancini grabs Maryse by the throat and Maryse yells at her frantically in French and Mancini relaxes her grip. MadMatt Posted January 1, 2011 Author Share Posted January 1, 2011 WWE Smackdown 12/31/10 We see Evan Bourne backstage, ribs taped, but the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena arrives, dressed in black and he steps backstage. Bourne confronts Cena, demanding what's his problem, for taking out Bourne's friend Rey Mysterio back at TLC. Cena says he's the champ and he doesn't have to answer to anyone, especially not a midget like Bourne. Bourne says that he might be small but he's quicker than Cena and Cena won't see him. Bourne punches Cena in the face, knocking him down and security is in, before Cena and Bourne can get into a scuffle. Cena is incensed that he got caught off guard! Kane pinned Joe Hennig with the Choke Slam in 5:14 Ted DiBiase claims that he is still on the shelf for an injury but will return by the Royal Rumble, so he won't be wrestling Kane tonight, sending Joe Hennig. DiBiase states that he would never get the Undertaker attacked, and in fact he's mad as Kane is, because he wanted to beat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26 to end the streak and start his own. Hennig goes for a missile dropkick but Kane swats him away, hitting a big boot and a Choke Slam for the pin. Kane eyeballs DiBiase but DiBiase points to the cast on his elbow, and out comes Brett DiBiase, who gets choke slammed by Kane. The Fortunate Sons have been flattened but DiBiase has escaped. (B) Alberto Banderas makes his way out, through pryo and ballyhoo, holding up his newly won WWE Intercontinental Championship. He talks about how Booker T will be out for a couple of weeks due to some tendons torn in his elbow. Tonight, Banderas has a match with Finlay and he also promises to win tonight and win the Royal Rumble. Alberto Banderas pinned Finlay after Chris Jericho nailed Finlay with his own shillagh in 8:11 Jericho comes out for commentary, to talk some trash about Finlay and also his opponent later tonight, Christian. Finlay beats on Banderas, slamming and beating on him, before hitting a running kneelift. Jericho grabs the shillagh as the referee is checking Banderas for a potential cut and Jericho nails Finlay right in the face, allowing Banderas to score the pin. (B) We are backstage, when John Cena demands a match with Evan Bourne in the office of Smackdown General Manager Bret Hart. He offers to put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line and Hart says they have a bit of time left over, so he agrees to make the match. Cena says he won't be disrespected again. William Regal cuts a promo, talking about how its awful he has to face a circus freak like Mike Knox for the number one contendership for the WWE Intercontinental Title. Regal says he should get the title shot and he calls out Knox for the next match, to give him the thrashing he deserves. Mike Knox defeated William Regal via disqualification in 8:01 The brutality of Knox batters Regal but Regal fights back. Knox powers out and Regal has a pair of brass knuckles and he uses them on Knox, but the referee catches Regal and calls for the disqualification. Regal beats on Knox some more, until Kane tries to make the save for his son, but Ted DiBiase nails Kane from behind with the cast from behind. DiBiase and Regal exchange nods. In all of this, Mike Knox is the number one contender for the IC Title, despite the busted mouth. (C+) We see the Miz standing by, talking about how he's been out in Hollywood for the last few months but he is returning to Smackdown in a few weeks. He says that the fans will know that he is still the Miz and he is still Awesome! We have a graphic saying that the Miz is returning to Friday Night Smackdown soon. Christian pinned Chris Jericho with the Killswitch in 12:50 The number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble took it to Chris Jericho in a return match from the finals of that tournament at TLC, only this time without Ladders involved and Jericho seemed intent to show that Christian's win would not be happening again. Jericho missed the Lionsault and Christian went for the Killswitch, but Jericho turned into into the Walls of Jericho but Christian made it to the ropes. Code Breaker is turned into the Catapult and Christian snaps off the Killswitch for the pin. (B) World Heavyweight Title Match: Evan Bourne vs. John Cena© Cena tries to attack Bourne at the bell but Bourne leapfrogs over him and rolls him up for a two and nine tenths count. The fans are going insane and Bourne is beating Cena. The high flying superstar is really getting the crowd behind him, as he throws Cena into the corner, ten count punches, back flip and then a dropkick, before Bourne goes to the outside and springboard cross body block. Bourne gains the momentum, with several nearfalls before Cena shoves him off of the top rope! Now Cena leaves the ring and beats on Bourne, before throwing him into the barricade ribs first and he beats Bourne! Front layout suplex right on the top of the barricade and Cena beats on Bourne, before throwing him intot he ring. A pair of clotheslines and Cena beats on Bourne, choking him and hitting a Northern Lights Suplex, before he nails him with a pair of backbreakers. Cena rolls over Bourne and assaults the back, before applying a bow and arrow submission hold. Bourne somehow gets to the ropes and Cena beats on Bourne, hoisting him up for a suplex but Bourne counters with a small package for a nearfall! Cena continues to assault the ribs of Bourne and now he beats on him. Cena is frustrated by a lack of respect by the WWE Universe and he gives Bourne two suplex, before he continues to pound on him. Bodyscissored sleeperhold and two and a half arm drops, before Bourne continues to fight out but Cena shoves him off and fisherman suplex gets a nearfall. Spear by Cena as we see Batista standing on the ramp, applauding Cena and encouraging him to beat on Bourne. Cena hits a back suplex into a spine buster and goes for the STF but Bourne is in the ropes. The referee puts the count on Cena and Cena threatens to shove the referee but Bourne dropkicks Cena from behind and now leaps on his shoulders, before bringing him down with a Huracanarana for a nearfall! We were a half of a second away from having a brand new World Heavyweight Championship and now Cena is sent to the floor, before Bourne leaps on him with a 450 degree plancha! The fans are going nuts as Bourne throws Cena into the ring and dives on top of him for a very close nearfall! Bourne now is beating on Cena and Cena is thrown into the ropes. Leaping forearm in the corner and Bourne now goes to the top rope. Missile dropkick to Cena, another cover but Cena rolls the shoulder up! Bourne beats on Cena and goes for a kick but Cena blocks it. Enzuigiri is ducked and Cena has the STF on but Bourne rolls through into a pinning predicament for a nearfall! Cena is frustrated and he swings but Bourne ducks and dropkicks Cena from behind, before shoving him into the corner. Tornado DDT but Cena hangs onto the ropes and leaping forearm smash to the face! Cena stomps away at Bourne and hoists him up, before bringing him down with a huge vertical suplex. Cena steps over and beats on Bourne and goes for the Attitude Adjustment but Bourne counters with a sunset flip for a nearfall! Cena is on his feet, insane and now Bourne beats on Cena, but Cena launches Bourne onto the ropes. Bourne hits a moonsault to a standing Cena! Cover but Cena rolls the shoulder up just in the nick of time! The fans are on their feet and they want to see Evan Bourne end the year 2010 as the World Heavyweight Champion! Bourne now is beating on Cena and throws him into the corner. Bourne misses a dive into the corner and his ribs hit the ringpost, before he is knocked to the floor! The referee puts the ten count on but Bourne is back into the ring and now Cena continues to hammer away at Bourne, before dragging him into the center of the ring and STF locked on! The STF is locked right on Evan Bourne and Bourne is struggling, trying to fight out and he manages to make it to the ropes. Bourne rolls over and Cena stomps and chokes at Bourne, before setting him up for the Attitude Adjustment but Bourne counters with an armdrag. Cena is back down and back up but Bourne ducks and spinning leg lariat to the back of the head. Bourne dives over the top rope with a swanton bomb right to a standing Cena! The fans are absolutely losing their minds and both men are down. Bourne throws Cena back into the ring and Bourne now is going to the top rope. Air Bourne but Cena rolls out of the way and Bourne hits the canvas. Bourne might have been wiped out and now Cena walks over, grabbing the World Heavyweight Championship belt to use as a weapon but the referee takes it away. Cena grabs a chair as the referee returns the belt and he swings it but Bourne ducks and dropkicks the chair right into the face of Cena! The fans are going insane as Cena might be knocked out and now Bourne drags Cena into the center of the ring, before he goes off top. Breath Taking Air Bourne Shooting Star Press! The champion has been flattened. One....Two....Thr....Batista pulls the referee out of the ring! The referee has no choice, but to call for the disqualification! The Winner as a Result of a Disqualification: Evan Bourne(A, 20:52) Batista enters the ring and attacks Bourne, beating him down and Cena is up, joining but Christian runs out with a chair to help chase Batista and Cena off. We see Edge exit the arena, a pipe in hand and he yells that Punk is hiding. London tells Edge to calm down before he injures himself yet again and offers Edge a deal tonight. If Edge can beat Paul London one on one, then Edge can get a match with CM Punk for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble with any stipulations of his choosing. If London wins, then Edge will be banned from receiving title shots until the end of 2011. Edge accepts the challenge and promises to beat London tonight and Punk at the Rumble. William Regal questions London but London states that he has a plan and Edge won't be a problem after tonight. In fact, he'll be sharing a hospital room with Matt Hardy, a fate worth then death for both men. </p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>The Big Show and Mark Henry defeated Rene Dupree and Ezekiel Jackson when Henry pinned Dupree with the World's Strongest Slam in 0:30</strong></span> Dupree and Jackson had words due to some recent friction they had on Superstars and Dupree turned around, right into the knockout punch from the Big Show, which set up the World's Strongest Slam for Henry for the pin. <strong>(C+)</strong></p><p> </p><p> After the match, the Specialists enter the ring, with Michael Courtier nailing Henry from behind with one of the tag belts and Lawrence Davis drilling the Big Show with a leaping elbow smash. The Specialists are double teaming the Big Show in the corner but Show fights out and quickly they escape. Show might be a tag team to himself but with Mark Henry, he is unstoppable. </p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Bryan Danielson made Cody Rhodes tap out to the Cattle Mutilation in 6:22</strong></span> Danielson is in fact in the Royal Rumble Match and Rhodes just missed getting a spot, so he is looking to prove that he belongs, beating on Danielson, gaining several nearfalls but Danielson fights out with an elbow strike, belly to back suplex, elbows to the head and then Cattle Mutilation to force Rhodes to submit. <strong>(B-)</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Alexandra Madison and Gail Kim defeated Mia Mancini and the Undisputed Women's Champion Katie Lea when Madison pinned Mancini with a backslide in 7:22</strong></span> Mancini did not seem too happy being forced to work together, with Katie Lea but Maryse forced her two. The two women(three if you count the interference of Maryse), beat down Gail Kim in the corner but she kept firing back, with the hot tag being made. A miscommunication spot allowed Madison to backslide Mancini for the pin. <strong>(C-)</strong></p><p> </p><p> Out comes Randy Orton to cut a promo, once again vowing to win the Royal Rumble and he says that he hopes that Punk is still the WWE Champion come Wrestlemania 27, because he has a score to settle with Punk. Out comes Sheamus, who says that he's going to win the Royal Rumble, fella, not Orton and a little back and forth, leads to their match.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Randy Orton pinned Sheamus with the RKO in 10:55</strong></span> Sheamus beats on Orton to start out this match but Orton fights back. Sheamus uses more power, including a big boot on Orton for a nearfall. Sheamus hits a huge backbreaker but Orton kicks out. Another big boot is avoided and Orton goes low, before hitting the RKO for the pin. <strong>(B+)</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>WWE United States Champion John Morrison defeated Shelton Benjamin, R-Truth, and Jack Swagger when Morrison pinned Benjamin with the Starship Pain in 9:55</strong></span> A wild fatal four way match, for the United States Title between four of the top young superstars in WWE. A wild match with many nearfalls. R-Truth is taken out with the T-Bone Suplex but Swagger hits the Gutwrench Power Bomb on Shelton but Morrison takes Swagger out with the Pele before hitting the Starship Pain on Benjamin for the pin, keeping the United States Championship out of the Illuminati camp. <strong>(B)</strong></p><p> </p><p> We see Kevin Nash making his way out. The RAW General Manager said he has been on his two week paid vacation but he is back. He saw what the Illuminati did the past several weeks, including to Edge last week. Therefore, all of the Illuminati have been barred from the building, for Edge's match with Paul London tonight. Nash has about three dozen heavily armed guards enforce the order, with London calling Nash a hypocrite, given all of the things that he was up to when he was a member of the New World Order. Nash says that's the past, but right now, London has a match against Edge, so lets see if he can cash the checks that his mouth has written against the Rated R Superstar tonight. </p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong>Edge pinned Paul London after countering a springboard with the Spear in 12:44</strong></span> A back and forth encounter, with London picking apart the previously injured leg of Edge. Edge missed six months to an achilles tendon injury and he lost three more months at the end of last year due to injuries to the leg from an Illuminati attack. Edge fights back but London leapfrogs over a spear and chop blocks Edge, before applying a heel hook. Edge struggles and makes it to the ropes somehow. London goes for a piledriver but Edge counters with a catapult into the corner but London comes out with a twisting sunset flip for a nearfall. Figure four leglock applied to Edge. London won the ECW Championship with this very move but Edge rolls the hold over, reversing the pressure. Edge tries for a high back body drop but London hangs on. He goes for a springboard but Edge hits the Spear to counter for the pin. <strong>(B+)</strong></p><p> </p><p> Edge gets the win and has a title shot against CM Punk at the Royal Rumble and he'll get to pick whatever stipulations that he wants. When Punk shows back up, Paul London's got some explaining to do, for getting the Illuminati leader into this situation.
