WWE Monday Night RAW 2/21/11

A recap last night with CM Punk keeping the WWE Championship, Randy Orton winning the number one contendership for Wrestlemania, and Batista becoming the new World Heavyweight Title. Tonight six weeks and counting to Wrestlemania 27!

John Cena comes down to the ring, to loud boos, with his arm in a sling. He enters the ring and talks about how last night, Christian ruthlessly attacked him and dislocated his shoulder. Cena will be back in the ring and back in time for Wrestlemania and he could not have asked for a better World Heavyweight Champion then Batista. Cena talks about how it will be Cena and Batista come Wrestlemania for the World Heavyweight Title.

“I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD!”

Out comes Randy Orton to cheers as he slowly stalks to the ring. Orton gets on the microphone, talking about how Cena seems to be certain that he's going to challenge Batista at Wrestlemania 27, but there is a spanner in the works and that spanner is Randy Orton. After what happened last night, Randy Orton has his choice of champion. He could choose Punk or he could choose Batista and he has reasons to choose both. Cena yells that Orton doesn't deserve the main event, saying that Cena won Bragging Rights, so he should be in the main event and he has a return match clause. Orton says Cena was on RAW up to Extreme Rules but he lost to Orton and was banished from RAW. Orton states that after that, Cena began to slowly crack under the pressure and he turned on the fans. Orton says it matters little to him what the fans think but many looked up to Cena as a hero and he turned on them all. Orton says its because Cena is weak minded and he let a group of fans get to him, which is why Cena will never be as good as Randy Orton.

Cena yells that if he didn't have one arm, he would beat Orton. Orton states that he is less than one hundred percent, last night he got hit from behind with a pipe and then he got dropped from behind, so its a fair fight and he is walking to the ring but out comes security, along with RAW General Manager Kevin Nash. Nash announces that tonight, we're going to have a match between John Cena and Randy Orton with Orton's Mania Title Shot on the line. Cena yells that he's hurt, but Nash makes the match a No Holds Barred Match, so Cena will be able to use whatever means to counteract his injury, without fear of being disqualified. The announcers go insane at Cena and Orton in a No Holds Barred Match tonight, with the main event for Wrestlemania hanging in the balance.

John Morrison pinned Sheamus with the Starship Pain in the Money in the Bank Qualifying Match in 8:55 Both of these men were in the Elimination Chamber last night but now they are going at it for the first spot in the ten men Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania 27. Morrison is the first one, blocking the Celtic Cross and hitting the Pele Kick, before hitting the Starship Pain for the pin. (B)

Melina, Beth Phoenix, and Gail Kim defeated Natalya, Mia Mancini, and Undisputed Women's Champion Katie Lea when Beth Phoenix pinned Natalya with the Glam Slam in 8:32 A wild six diva tag team match, but Mancini and Katie Lea had some words, which lead to a brawl and Beth Phoenix beating on Natalya, before finishing her off with the Glam Slam to get the pin. (B-)

The fans are going insane, as Beth Phoenix attacks Mancini and they brawls with Katie Lea, until security is trying to break up the battle between these women. A couple of minutes go by, as all of the divas are fighting, but are finally pulled apart.

Out comes the WWE Champion CM Punk, drawing a loud round of boos from the fans. Punk talks about how last night, he walked out of the Elimination Chamber, with the WWE Championship and he talks about how he could have beaten Randy Orton had he not already competed in a Chamber Match. Punk talks about his destiny is still to go to Wrestlemania to unify the titles but now his destiny is through a route he's taken two times before, the Money in the Bank. Next week on RAW, Punk has arranged a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match with Kofi Kingston and Punk will win that and then advance into Money in the Bank, where he'll cash in against whatever is left of the winner of the World Heavyweight Title Match. Punk states many might say that there is still a chance that Orton could choose to challenge him but Punk states that he's confident that Orton feels he has nothing left to prove by beating Punk last night and he has a grudge against Batista. Punk states that he will defend the WWE Championship prior to Wrestlemania to satisfy the thirty day rule but tonight he has a non title match with R-Truth. Punk also says that he hopes that Shawn Michaels is going to continue to stay home and enjoy time with his family. He would hate to see Michaels put in a hospital bed like his good friend Triple H. Punk states that the well of Wrestlemania moments are dried up for Shawn Michaels and Punk declares himself to be the new Mr. Wrestlemania, vowing to win Money in the Bank and get a new magical moment, by unifying the belts and being the Undisputed Champion over RAW and Smackdown. The goal of the Illuminati is to have one Undisputed Champion and that champion will be Punk come Wrestlemania 27.

CM Punk pinned R-Truth with the GTS in 8:01 R-Truth fought with Punk, beating him in the ring, knocking him around the ring and ten count punches, but R-Truth is fighting him off, before taking him down and gaining several nearfalls but Punk ducks a charge and then elbows R-Truth in the head twice, before hitting a running kick and GTS gets the pin. (B)

We cut to a pre-recorded segment with Josh Mathews interviewing Shawn Michaels. Michaels talks about how last night at Elimination Chamber he held the WWE Championship in his grasp but he was pinned. Michaels talks about how many people thought it was a botched call, how Punk's shoulders were down and Michaels got the shoulder up or at least all four shoulders were down. He is thinking long and hard and while he is Mr. Wrestlemania, he does wonder if he has one more huge Wrestlemania moment left in him. At this point, he has expressed serious doubts for the very first time in his career. We slowly fade out.

We are backstage and Matt Hardy and Edge stare each other down. Tonight, these two men, who have been the most bitter of rivals in the past, are going to have to team up tonight against Hernandez and the ECW Champion Paul London. Edge just says that he doesn't like this any more than Hardy does, but they have to work together. Hardy just looks at Edge and says tonight, they're going to take down the Illuminati and then whatever happens afterwards, happens.

Hernandez and Paul London defeated Edge and Matt Hardy via disqualification when Edge used a chair on Hernandez in 10:11 Matt Hardy was pounded in the corner, but he made a comeback and runs wild, knocking men around the ring, knocking London to the floor. Hernandez grabs a chair as Hardy goes right for London on the floor but Edge takes the chair and waffles Hernandez with it for the disqualification! (B-)

We see Hardy beating on London on the floor and then Edge giving Hernandez another chair shot but the Hart Dynasty and William Regal run out, to get some chair shots but Hernandez spins Edge around and tackles him down, before hitting a vicious Crucifix Power Bomb to Edge. Hernandez shakes off the three chair shots and walks off, with Edge down in a heap in the ring, as Matt Hardy and Paul London are pulled apart, with London's face all scratched up with Hardy attempting to dig his eyeball out of his face but they are pulled apart.

Cody Rhodes pinned Bryan Danielson in a Money in the Bank Qualifier after Chris Jericho got involved and attacked Danielson in 10:55[/b] We see Chris Jericho make his way out to the ring, to eyeball Danielson from the ramp and Rhodes gets an early advantage, but Danielson fights back. Danielson manages to overpower and beat down Rhodes, before punishing him with numerous submission holds. Jericho is on the apron and he nails Danielson right across the back of the head and this allows Rhodes to roll up Danielson to be the second man to enter Money in the Bank. (B-)

Jericho enters the ring and gives Danielson the Code Breaker. He then tells Danielson that some might have called Danielson the Best in the World but Jericho has proven that he is the Best in the World At What he Does and while Danielson is great, he doesn't deserve to be called the Best in the World over Chris Jericho.

John Cena comes out, arm still in a sling, for the No Holds Barred Match. Randy Orton makes his way out but gets jumped by the Miz, one of Cena's associates on Smackdown. Orton dispatches of the Miz and now Cena nails Orton from behind with a chain and beats on him. Irish whip into the steps and Cena is beating up Orton but Orton goes to the eyes of Cena and beats on him, before setting him up with a vicious DDT on the steps. Cena is rolled into the ring and Orton beats on Cena and gives Cena an RKO! Orton rolls over Cena and the referee enters the ring to count the pin. Orton has kept his title shot and he rolls Cena over. Orton tells Cena when he wakes up, tell Batista that Orton will see him at Wrestlemania. ORTON PUNTS CENA IN THE HEAD! Cena spasms on the canvas and it will now be Orton and Batista for the World Heavyweight Title in the main event of Wrestlemania 27.

We see Jack Swagger walk out with the case of one million dollars and the United States Title Belt. If they can beat Swagger or last five minutes, they get one million dollars and a shot for the United States Title. Swagger asks if there are any takers and from the crowd, a very familiar face stands up...Brian Kendrick! Kendrick slaps Swagger and the battle starts.

Hardy gains several quick nearfalls and beats on Kazarian, but the ECW Champion Paul London is out and Hardy takes his concentration off of the game, long enough to backslide Hardy and thus Kazarian is in Money in the Bank! (B)

Hardy dives out of the ring onto Paul London but Kaval and Jack Swagger run out, followed by the Hart Dynasty. Matt Hardy is trying to fight off the Illuminati but Shelton Benjamin rushes out and beats on London. Next week Benjamin has a chance to become ECW Champion against Paul London. WWE Smackdown 2/25/11

Out comes Batista to boos from the fans. The new World Heavyweight Champion talks about how he doesn't care what the fans think, because they've already paid their money so they should just sit down and shut up and bask in the glory of the new World Heavyweight Champion. Batista talks about how he was all set to have a nice World Heavyweight Title Match with John Cena, his good friend, at Wrestlemania 27, but Randy Orton had to ruin that. Batista warned Orton of the consequences last Sunday when he destroyed him but Orton didn't listen. Orton should have chose CM Punk as his opponent but now he is doomed to failure. Batista says that there is no Evolution, no Legacy, hell Orton's own father, “Cowboy” Bob Orton won't return his calls anymore, because Orton has pushed away everyone due to his own greed. It will be Batista and Randy Orton and Batista says he's never forgotten how Orton tried to end his career on numerous occasions, because Orton is a petty, vindictive little man who can't beat Batista one on one. He was the low man on the totem pole in Evolution, as he got kicked out and lost promptly to Triple H, while Batista threw Triple H to the side and them promptly beat him on three successive Pay Per Views. Batista states that makes him superior to Orton and there will be no try, Batista will end Orton's career and keep the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania 27 and he wishes John Cena the best and to get well soon, after Orton's brutal punt to Cena on Monday.

Matt Hardy made William Regal pass out in a rear naked choke in a No Disqualification Match with the Illuminati banned from ringside in 8:11 Hardy and Regal have an intense battle, with beefed up security keeping an eye for any Illuminati involvement. Regal drills Hardy but Hardy escapes being pinned, before nailing Regal with the Twist of Fate and then slaps on a rear naked choke. Regal is quickly rendered unconscious and Matt Hardy picks up the win. (B)

Matt Hardy gets on the microphone and talks about how he's not done with Paul London yet. Matt Hardy will not die and Matt Hardy won't quit. Hardy wants Paul London in the ring one on one at Wrestlemania 27, regardless if he has the ECW Championship or not. Hardy wants to settle things once and for all with the battle at the grandest stage of them all. Hardy vows to avenge his injuries months back at the hands of London.

Booker T pinned Dolph Ziggler with the Axe Kick in 10:21 This is the first Smackdown Money in the Bank Qualifier and a return match from eight days earlier on Superstars, with Ziggler getting the win. This time Booker T joins John Morrison, Cody Rhodes, and Frankie Kazarian in Money in the Bank, nailing Ziggler with the Axe Kick for the pin. (B-)

Jack Swagger comes out with the million dollar case and for a Jack Swagger All American American challenge. He brushes off the fact that there is going to be a big challenger coming this week on ECW and announces tonight, if his opponent lasts either five minutes or beats him, then he gets a million dollars and a United States Title Shot. Out comes JTG from the back. Swagger calls out the Hart Dynasty and Kaval to help guard the money, because given that JTG is one half of a team called Cryme Tyme, he doesn't trust this to be on the level.

Jack Swagger made JTG submit to the Ankle Lock in 3:41 Swagger gets a commanding victory in the All American American challenge, with JTG getting a couple of close calls, but Swagger takes out the leg, before applying the Ankle Lock for the tap out. (C+)

Chris Jericho makes his way down to the ring, cutting a promo about how people talking about how Bryan Danielson is the best in the world is false. Rather Chris Jericho is the Best in the World and the Best of the World at what he does. He also talks about how Randy Orton disgusts him and next week, Jericho wants a piece of Randy Orton. Jericho calls out Primo for their next match on Smackdown.

Chris Jericho pinned Primo with the Code Breaker in 5:52 Primo hits a lot of high impact moves, knocking Jericho around, but Primo is quickly cut off and sent down with the Code Breaker. (B-)

Alberto Banderas defeated Kane via countout to qualify for the Money in the Bank after Kane brawled with Ted DiBiase on the ramp in 8:11 The WWE Intercontinental Champion Banderas was knocked around by Kane but he quickly goes to work on the arm, but Kane fights him off, beating on him, but Ted DiBiase appears on the ramp to taunt Kane. Kane exits the ring and goes to attack DiBiase. In his obsession to take DiBiase down, the referee counts him out and Alberto Banders gets his ticket punched for Money in the Bank. (C-)

Joe Hennig jumps Kane from behind and two on one beatdown. Kane is trying to fight both them off, but DiBiase nails him with a chair and then the lights go out and a loud “DONG” echoes throughout the arena. When they come back on, much like Brett DiBiase had many weeks ago, Joe Hennig is laid out on the ramp, as if he had been hit with the Tombstone, arms crossed over his chest. Ted DiBiase freaks out and Kane has disappeared in the dark as well.

Ted DiBiase cuts a promo, talking about how he's not going to take his eye off of the ball this time. He says that if someone plays the Undertaker's gong again to screw with his head, he's going to find the production guy responsible and beat him senseless. He calls out Christian, saying that he's going to enter Money in the Bank and win it for a second year in a row.

Christian pinned Ted DiBiase after shoving DiBiase off of the top rope and hitting the Frog Splash in 14:55 DiBiase seemed a bit shaken due to the fact that Joe Hennig was taken out in the dark earlier but he managed to make a comeback, gaining several nearfalls. He pounds away at Christian, gaining several nearfalls but the lights flicker as DiBiase has a superplex set up and Christian shoves him off of the top rope, to hit the Frog Splash to enter Money in the Bank. (B+)

Out comes Kane as the pryo explodes and he goes after Ted DiBiase but DiBiase bails. Kane gets on the microphone and challenges DiBiase to a Casket Match! DiBiase looks fearful but he says that he's going to put Kane down once and for all and perhaps the mind games will end. Next week, we have Ted DiBiase against Kane in a Casket Match.
