A Spike TV representative issued a statement to PWTorch.com on Monday indicating that there are "ongoing negotiations" between the company and TNA. Earlier today, Dixie Carter tweeted that something similar.

The Torch Article that's referenced:

TNA president Dixie Carter and Spike TV are saying the same things regarding the future of Impact on Spike TV.

"Negotiations with @SpikeTV are ongoing. Stay tuned," Carter tweeted Monday afternoon before promoting the "Destination X" edition of Impact this Thursday.

Spike TV told PWTorch on Monday morning that there are "ongoing negotiations."

On Sunday night, TMZ reported that Spike decided not to renew Impact's television deal for the fall season. But, both parties are making it sound like they will continue to talk about a potential renewal.

Yeah but correct me if I'm wrong (which I might be haha) but don't Networks also use this type of thing as a negation tactic? Like to lower the current right fees that TNA is asking for?

Also something Jim Ross keeps bring up is that it may be something like TBS pulling the plug on JCP so that they are in enough financial trouble to buy the company. I didn't think about this and since Viacom just bought Bellator(or whatever) maybe they want TNA? I guess the whole thing is just a wait and see type thing.

You are right in a sense. Its not really a negotiation "tactic" which I would take to mean its part of the cat and mouse game that all negotiations generally are. Its more of a simple fact that they are not renewing their current deal with them and want to negotiate at a lower dollar amount. Or maybe the same dollar amount but they want to cut the rumored funding help with the company they are doing. More or less they would be going forward on a new deal.

I personally find it hard to believe that Spike doesn't want TNA programming but I think as I said earlier and as Ross kinda said. Cops re runs cost them a lot less and get them 1/2 to 3/4 of the same rating. So in order for it to be smart business for Spike to keep them they would need to axe their rights fees in half.

The WWE got very little more than what USA intially offered them. They negotiated for months with everyone from AMC, to Fox to who knows who else I'm sure even Viacom and they went back to USA's basic initial offer which of course was WAY lower than they expected. I think that speaks volumes to how little market there is for pro wrestling on cable tv in 2014.

It used to be that there was a television season and an off season but now thats completely different. Shows like Under the Dome and Extant on network tv and there are countless other shows all across cable tv. Even channels like Lifetime and WGN are getting into original programming with shows like The Lottery, Manhattan, etc. So I don't think there is the need/want/desire for cheap and easy programming like there was even ten years ago. It says a lot to me that the WWE who pulls in five millions viewers a week plus another 3 for Smackdown even when they had Superstars and Main Event those shows drew 1.5 million viewers and even with all of these viewers and all of this successful programming the WWE didn't get anything near even second tier sports such as NASCAR.

Even if TNA's programming is renewed their entire company is at the mercy of Panda Energy and more so Spike TV. I hope they stay put I don't watch the show but a million people every week do and its never good for anyone to lose their job especially since 90 percent of these guys would never get hired in the WWE.

You say "I used to like a lot of their shows" and then 50 percent of the shows that you name are TNA and pro wrestling related. Wouldn't that be like me saying that Fox has a lot of shows I like such as "Football pregame" "the noon NFL game" "The 3 o'clock NFL game".

1000 ways to die was a fun little show but its not a show that's going to run forever. Deadliest Warrior was a great show that I loved but the budget was too much for the rating it pulled in. It was at just over a million viewers per episode into the second season and the show was deceptively expense.

So I just saw a post with source from Pro Wrestling Report that said that Viacom has told TNA and Spike that if Spike doesn't want to keep TNA that they would make sure it stayed on one of their channels with MTV being the number one option.

I don't know how legit this is but thoughts?

It's quite laughable

If they go on MTV then I dont expect them to last more than a couple of seasons at the most. They'd probably be better off just airing their shows online while they plan their next move or even better yet for their money problems, book 1-2 big shows a month online if Impact ends its run on Spike.

They need T.V to survive. Go to MTV if thats your only option and continue to look for long term on a more viable network. This company needs tv right fees in order to stay afloat. In the WWE would be nearly impossible to survive without a television deal. That would be like saying that a television show that gets cancelled should just keep airing their shows online until they find another network.

I think its a big deal if Viacom wants to keep them and I honestly believe they will stay on Spike under a different deal. We have no idea what the current deal includes but we know they have backed Sting and Angle contracts in the past maybe they want to get away from that as well as reduce the amount they are giving them.

There is no MTV in their future

There is no Tv network willing to finance them like spike was doing. Even if there was it's far too close to the season to be asking for a deal with the same amount of money spike was giving them or more in addition to the financing spike was giving them.

They can't survive on just any TV, they have to get equal money to what spike was generous enough to give them and they've lost a lot of the names like Sting and Hogan (soon to be Angle as well) that previously gave the company name value and leverage in TV.

I think its a bit bold to say "there is no MTV" and also they absolutely don't have to have the same deal Spike gave them. There is a lot of overhead that can and should have been cut a long time ago.

TNA can survive just fine if they do some cut backs on expenses.

True but they barely make anything in terms of profit. They tried touring and it didnt help. PPV buys are so low that they had to turn them into TV specials. Their merchandice sales probably arent high enough outside of the big stars (Hardy, Angle, drawing blanks in anyone else).

No amount of cutbacks and firings help if they cant turn a profit. TNA shouldve focused on building an audience in the southeast first before expanding to other areas. Because they havent they cant really draw good numbers show for show outside of the Impact Zone and even then most of that audience didnt even pay for seats.

Honestly I dont think that its out of the question for TNA to scale back greatly and start from square one. Do a bunch of Florida shows first, then expand to Georgia and Alabama, then Louisiana and SC, then NC, Virginia, WV,etc. It sounds crazy but if they dont and Spike drops them then I doubt they will be able to sustain themselves for too much longer.

Anyone have any idea who is the person in the "He is coming" video that showed on the recent impact?

So far we have the letter H to go with and what looks like a Dark Knight Rises Bane style mask?

Anyone?

It is ---------------------------> Jessica Havok<--------------------------
