A short dynasty story from BBCF

Recommended Posts

Over that period I played 3 entire seasons with the Indiana Heroes. I went 10-26 over that period but I was starting to improve the team. The 2nd year in I was able to have the 33rd best recruiting class in the nation. The game was tough and the 3rd year I still wasn't able to get any wins. I was happy to see it wasnt like TDCB where I was able to make a poor team good in only 2 years. After a 2nd season record of 5-6, I failed miserably my 3rd year with potentially my best team. We went 3-9. After the season ended, I was more than ready to finally get my prgram back on track and bring a winning record to IU. I had a ton of fun the previous 3 seasons. I knew I was only missing a solid runningback and I would be successful. But at the beginning of the 4th season I got an email telling me I was fired! No!!!! Now I am stuck with Idaho who was 118th last season in recruiting. Arlie, I just wanted to let you know...even though it hurt to be fired, it feels so good that I cared it occured. This game has really become so good. I can't wait for release so everyone else can enjoy it as much as I have these last 10 hours.

Yes you can play out the games, in fact at different levels of detail, the game comes with playbooks and strategies that you set in advance of a game once in-game you can make every call offensive or defensive and subs, or if you prefer just watch the computer play out the game using the playbook and strategies you layed out before kickoff. Personally I find myself on the edge of my seat in a close game, the PbP is much more detailed and engrossing then TPF and with the strategic options you can easily get lost like cody did for 10 hours and I have for many hours.

Have you gotten a feel for how the stats and numbers play out for single games and entire seasons? What kind of numbers are you seeing for individual/ team rushing and passing leaders, team yards per game, etc...? Do sores and stats of computer simmed games seem to be realistic? Thanks for the info - sorry the powers that be at IU didn't give you a couple more years!!

The numbers are great: I dont think Arlie would mind me showing you this. Why would he? The stats are crazy accurate. I will try to run the newest betas stats over 5 years when I can.

The "NCAA Averages" I have listed are from the last five seasons in real life. Arlie is aware of the small problem areas (punt average, interceptions, not quite enough running the football), and I'm confident that those will improve by release... {Oops...danged forum issues...} [Click here] to see 'em.

The stats are pretty accurate since the first beta versions. Arlie just had to tweak them for some minor corrections like Skydog posted. I simed 10 seasons 2 days ago with one of the latest beta releases and nothing was weird stats wise. About the match pbp, wow it's amazing if you like to calls play and/or watch them being executed. Of course you don't see the players moving, but the formations and plays are drawn with dots (ovals better said) and colored arrows depending on the play result at the same time than the text pbp is displayed.
I dont guess any of you testers can send me a copy of the field graphic so I can start customizing my own fields..Or will Arlie allow you to do that?? Thanks..Just trying to get a head start on this
dd, We're still finalizing the graphic to allow the easiest swap of endzones and center graphics for the field. Once we get a standard, I will post it for you guys.

Those numbers do look very good. Can any of the testers give some feedback on recruiting.... 1-Are the "pipeline" States where you get the majority of your recruits? (I.E does your program have more recognition in the areas you delegate as Pipeline states? 2-Is the difficulty comparable to real life in terms of lower prestige Schools not being able to land 4 and 5 star recruits on par with the Big boys? 3-Are their surprises, such as losing a recruit you thought was a lock on signing day, or suddenly picking up an unexpected commit with a last minute pitch? Sounds like only the graphics and a couple of minor stat tweaks stand in the way of release....Actually if the Stats are good who needs graphics right away ;)

1- You get more chances to land recruits from the states closer to your school. Also the more scouting budget you assign to a region and the scouting service that you choose the more chances to get players from that region. Not sure if that is what you were asking. 2- Absolutelly. 3- Yeah, some recruits choose the school after the first recruiting week and some wait until the last one. Every week you receive reports from your scouts telling you if they believe that you have chances of landing each recruit or if you should move your effort/resources to another one.

A couple more questions about recruiting... 4) How good is the recruiting interface? For example in TCY it was difficult to keep track of all the players you would like to target until you made contact with them. Is there some type of contact list? 5) What recruiting decisions do you have to make? For example do you have a limited number of phone calls? Limited number of visits? 6) Can you tell if position vacancy influences a recruits decision? If you have not recruited a RB for two years does a top RB recruit have more interest in signing? Thank you for all the feedback! Keep up the great work!

I'll get into the act now since all the other beta testers are having fun. 4. You have a watch list you can put players on (if you use the recruit action on them, they'll be automatically placed on it). Each week, you will get an email for every player on the watch list (sorted by position). It will state the basic player info, how many other teams are recruiting him and how many scholarship offers (including yours) have been made. Then, it will tell you what shape you are in towards getting him. Also, in the recruiting interface, each player has an interest level (1-10) you can use to track what chances you have in getting them. 5. The only actions you have during recruiting are as follows--place on watch list, scout, recruit, recruit with an emphasis on one of the several things a player does or does not view as important (HINT: You better hit on one of the two or three things he finds very important or you won't sign them) which come during the weeks following scouting, offer scholarship, and on the seperate recruiting visits screen, offer up to 5 visits per week. This is nice and streamlined so you don't have to write a novel a week during recruiting. 6. Unofficially, there seems to be some evidence to say yes, especially if playing time is high on their list. Also, there seems to be some evidence that skill positions are pipelined so you could have a QB U like Miami in the mid-80's. However, nothing has ever been officially said on this.
