Polish Hill
A brief foreword to the story. I've always been obsessed with putting people I know into games. Playing sports against people you know allows you to expect outcomes better, be more surprised by upsets, and more emotionally attached to the records. This means I've spend hours adding two dozen of my friends, birthdays, weights, general attributes (with some liberties taken for realism and judgment sake) in NCAA 10 TeamBuilder and Football Manager 09 and 10. While these have been fun I've decided after a few years simulation WMMA2 is the best. My database additions have been small. Over a three year period I've added 7 female fighters and 9 male fighters. After my first run of 5 years I found I rated a few fighters too low when about 7 were unemployed after 3 years. But the fact of the matter is coming up with nick names and template attributes has been hilarious and fun for my friends. For some of the girl friends in our group the "can take a beating" attribute makes a whole lot of sense. And when you factor in real life incidents its very easy to see who "glass jaw" or "powerhouse" can apply to. I've added a few of the men to each weight class (Welterweight, Lightweight, Middleweight, Light Heavyweight) and all of the women into one weight class. Its been great to simulate four months and sift through the results and just look for last names I know. This time around I'm looking forward how improving everyone's skills turns out. Last time around a pair of Level 5 template fighters won ten fights in a row before finally losing. My guess is the fact that they were tossed into a smaller company meant the competition was weak and they were able to flourish. Did I mention how fun it is to simulate a few years and compare salaries with a friend? This is extremely nerdy but I'd love to see if anyone's done something similar. vunsev
We used to do the same thing for Championship Manager back when I was in 6th form college. We would make a team of all our group of friends and see how they did in the premier league. Obviously we would overrate the stats but the position we played stayed the same. I will attempt setting myself up albiet with higher stats (I don't think you can have a minus figure!) and see how many fights I can go get over 10 years. TheDeanOfWhipedCream
I would love to do something like this but I don't have that many friends who are into MMA. There is like 2 oe 3 of us. I might put myself in - Super Heavyweight Division. Some mix of Butterbean and Kalib Stairnes just think like a fighter with no co-ordination, the reaction speed of a building, the chin of a conservatory (you know glass), who struggles to remember how to spell Jiu jitsu let alone practise the art, the punch power of a rather weak infant and who will gas walking to the cage before the fight starts. No Ladies & Gentleman I was not designed for MMA. Hopefully my opponent will gas from laughing so hard.
