First time I've ever run a women's promotion in the game, so I've got a couple questions.

The first is how to deal with the more limited worker pool in women's wrestling, especially in North America. Once you cut out all the women who aren't good in the ring (like the BSC squad), and all the women who are too expensive to use (Wanda Fish, J-Ro, et al.), it seems there's very little left over. Outside of using a good avatar and praying that the workers improve.

The second is the limited number of debuts over the course of the game. By my count, there's only 30 or so women in the database to debut until the computer starts generating them randomly in significant numbers in 2026. Some of them are women like Bonnie Clyde, too. Given that women tend to retire 10 years younger than their male counterparts, that seems to be pretty limiting.

The third is not so much about running the show, as to whether I'm missing something. In the Hidden Gems section, the game recommended Charlize Angelle over J-Ro, while women like Melody Cuthill and Wanda Fish didn't make the list at all. I didn't change the product, so I'm a mite curious as to what the game sees in Charlize Angelle.

Thanks in advance to all of you out there willing to help me expand the role of women's wrestling, so far as it pertains to a fictional universe, in the iteration that exists on my specific computer. :)

The Hidden Gems section helps you see the hidden gems in the game world (duh) But (i think) its calculated by POPULARITY,PRICE, and theire skills....

Cause im playing with a company who uses males and they only show people whom are cheap people with a lot of potensial who are talented ( ala adam matreveres ) So it not down to skill alone

It's people outside your company with high destiny/potential - I've had Jim Force on my list since day one. Nearly seven years later he's still there.

Any women's promotion requires careful booking - and yes, you have to cope with using the same workers all the time. Seven years into the game, I have about fifteen women in my company, and there's maybe five more I'd like to sign full-time (although mostly that'd be replacing workers low-level workers).

If you're playing as a women's fed, I'd advocate turning worker generation on - one of the things I miss most in my game, as there were some spectacular randoms in my '07 long term game :( If you're into the game and can't restart, you just have to make do. Agent 69 and Melody Cuthill should be decent for a fed that size, I'd say. Tamara McFly is a must get if she'll leave Canada.

Incidentally, QAW just opened in my game. The owner: TJ Bailey...

First of all, you can adjust the year the game starts generating new, random workers. I do that first thing.

Secondly, the women's side in the C-Verse is challenging but not impossible. The key is to shrug off your fixation on certain workers and deal with what you have. I've turned Ochiyo Iijima into a 'National Worker'. I had one game in 08 where Miss Information had three of the Hall of Immortals requirements.

I set up most of my games from a copy of the default database. I change the ages/debut dates of several new workers because the field becomes seriously barren within two years when Wanda et al retire. I usually turn restrictions off (or just manually make all the women available in all areas) because I think they make little sense. I also jack the women's potential to Excellent because it doesn't do anything but make it slightly more likely a few of them will pan out (superstar quality seems to temper potential to a large extent, from what I've seen).

It's possible to grow QAW but it has to be organically. You HAVE to develop your own talent, there's no alternative. Stay away from the expensive, high profile workers (Queen Emily, Blonde Bombshell, etc) and choose ONE of the big names to sign (I stay away from J.Ro due to her 5SSW commitment and Wanda because of her tendency to retire quickly. I go with Sara Marie York, Suzanne Brazzle or Stephanie Wade usually). There are some people in AAA who have the potential to work out well (Missy, Steph, Tracy Brendon, etc). I sign Katherine Goodlooks in every game and repackage her under her own name with a new render I had done back in 07 with a submission machine type gimmick (basically a younger Mariko Yoshida). And the whole 'BSC workers aren't good in the ring' thing has its exceptions. The Neptunes can work if given the opportunity and I usually turn Kathy into the star of the duo.

You have to remember your advantage: no one's stealing your talent (until 5SSW goes National and even then, they tend to shy away from foreign talent). Give Tsuki Kawamata a decent manager and she can turn into a steady (if not spectacular) main eventer. You have access to people like Eve Grunge, Golden Delicious, Miss Information (who could be worth her price), and Nina could be your headliner up to Regional (if not Cult). I often bring in Kinuye Mushashibo and Ochiyo Iijima as projects as well as Yukiko Matsumara. Problem is, many of the North American women's talents are either not very good (for the price) but there are several in Europe (Aud, Karen) and Japan (Yukiko, Ochiyo, Kin, Saeko Hiroyuki) who are worth the money and can put on decent to good matches. I guess the design intention is that many of the promotions will share workers and deal with each others' schedules.

OH! And I always, always, always, ALWAYS change that product.

A treasure trove of useful information.

So far, I've been using the user character, Kristabel Plum, and April Appleseed as my main eventers. The problem with April is that her match ratings never seem to be worth her price, and she always demands to be in the title picture anyway. Plum's been great, but expensive. And Lauren Easter shot straight to ME on her debut, which isn't bad given her talent, but I'm loathe to really get behind a rookie given the trouble I've had with Jay Chord in alternate games.

The major problem is one of cash flow. North American workers are more expensive then they are talented. Japanese workers tend to be more talented, and cheaper given their lack of American overness, but then you have to pay for travel, which artifically beefs up their price. And then women like Nene Ebina are expensive, demand travel expensive, and aren't popular backstage.

It also saddens me that, outside of Etsuko, Amber, and Lauren, the best prospects are women like Agent 69. She's not horrible, but she hardly speaks "destiny" to me. Maybe the fact that I normally play men's promotions where I have Seiji and Gino, and the Guages debutting has spoiled me.

Also, what product do you change it to for a women's promotion? Most of them tend to be cruiserweights and super juniors, with a few technical skills and the scattered brawler, so something with high modern, lucha, and daredevil, maybe a little pure?

Products: this one and this one. (The latter one is a bit better overall)

You might want to head over to the alternate pictures thread and get a new render for Agent 69. She's easily one of the best young workers on the women's side. Sure, she's not Lauren or Alicia but she doesn't need to be. She's YOUNG. Upside is what counts.

And if you compare Lauren to freakin' Jay Chord again, I'll send you a poop present in the mail. :p Not the same thing. Lauren isn't a cancer and would take quite some Jesus pushing to make her into one.

I never hire Nene as anything but a short term jobber at high Regional or Cult. She's not worth anything more. April Appleseed (and Candy Floss) are similar in that their price far outstrips their ability. Lauren shot to main event because QAW's default product is heavily performance based and unless your main event is filled with Alicia Strong/Sensational Ogiwara/Thunder Hike types, she's a main eventer in skill.

Hiring foreign workers only tends to double their price. Remember, travel costs are tied to respect and will never exceed their appearance fee. So if you're getting a Ginko Kuroda for 100 per appearance, her travel, at worst, will be $100. Ginko can go. But here's a good one for you. Build a promotion around Roz Larren and Amber Allen. Those two can go (Roz is a bit better than Amber in performance skills, if I remember right) and they should be cheap. I've found (at least in the next game) that skewing to popularity (or making it equal to performance) might have serious value for the women. It's fairly easy to generate popularity (especially from zero or near zero) but much harder and more time consuming than generating skill. It's also more expensive (overness tends to inflate a worker's price) which is the major downside.

You can't judge a talent by the outliers. I fell into that trap when Alicia Strong was first introduced. Gino, the Gauges, Seiji, Lauren, Fuyuko Higa, they're all outliers, not the average. The thing that makes them memorable is the fact that they are so far ahead of the field. Take a look at some of the future workers for more of an accurate view of things. I love Yu Hashimoto to death. Same with Eri Sato and Sae Akutagawa. These are workers who are good but still need a good amount of work to get them to that 'destiny' level you mention. Sandra Shine, Hoshiko Tagawa, Velvet Suarez, all have the potential to be real good but not great, unless you invest in them. Sara Marie York is a great example amongst the existing workers. You look at her and she screams 'future star' but it's not a given. Look at how she's kept down in the midcard in AAA when she could be putting on great matches against Wanda and Cat Quine, from day one. Stephanie Wade vs Sara Marie York with three shows worth of build, can tear the house down for a Regional fed (chemistry permitting). Within a year, with decent build/planning, Sara Marie York vs Agent 69 can do the same thing.

But don't judge your Agent 69s and Sara Marie Yorks and Amber Allens on the Lauren Easter/Alicia Strong/Gino Montero scale. Why? Because

I might have to do something about the render, then, because I can't take Agent 69 as a serious wrestler with that combination of name and gimmick. I think she has an alt picture in the default database. Pushing under her real name may work better for me psychologically.

Also, do you have a link to that Goodlooks alt, because I have the same problem with her, with the added complication that her existing gimmick comes with a less useful partner.

Also, now that I've decided to start over with the restrictions off, Dragon Assassin is worth more as a singles star, right? Because Dragon Power doesn't look all that great.
