Thanks Tweek, for always puttin your faith in me brotha. And thanks to everyone else who made their picks and began reading.

Comments: The crowd wasnt happy, as they expected more angles and interview segments.

Well, its kinda hard to get it right in just a half hour. Thought I did a relatively good job though progress-wise, with Zeus accepting the challenge laid out by Hogan and initiating the Martel / Santana feud. Oh, and I was quite impressed with the Young Stallions / Brain Busters dark match rating. Perhaps now is the time to push Jim Powers :D

The Wrestling Hotline w/ 'Mean' Gene Okerlund

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/TheWho87EWR/Wrestlers/KyKy/G%20Images/th_Gene_Okerlund.jpg

September 1989 - Week 1

- Earlier this week, in a shock move - The WCCW (World Class Championship Wrestling) gave the axe to what many consider one of the brightest young stars in the industry today. He goes by the name of 'Stunning' Steve Austin, and believe me. . . . this man has all the credentials necessary to go a long, long way, and my sources have informed me that both the World Wrestling Federation and the National Wrestling Alliance are interested in his services.

- The WWF and the USWA have worked out a deal, where-as the USWA will be working for the WWF as a developmental territory. And with the recent talks of the World Wrestling Federation looking to bring in a few new faces, this move seems highly appropriate.

- Word on the street has it that earlier this week, there was a heated backstage argument between two WWF superstars, which almost came to blows. The two superstars slated to have been involved are Barry Horowitz, and current WWF World Tag Team Champion, Tully Blanchard. Horowitz is the one rumored to have been the guilty party, and furthermore didnt take to kindly to the light warning which was laid out to him.

- Its being rumored that at this years Survivor Series (along with of course, the handful of traditional four-on-four survival matchups), we will see all three WWF Titles on the line! As far as who will be facing who at this point, its still un-clear. However, my sources have informed me that none other than The 'Macho Man' himself, Randy Savage is the leading candidate to challenge the WWF Champion at this years Thanksgiving Night Spectacular in St. Louis. Of course that would mean if Zeus were to win the title at Saturday Nights Main Event, that it could require a face turn. Other names reportedly being thrown around are 'Ravishing' Rick Rude, Ted DiBiase and The Ultimate Warrior.

- The World Wrestling Federation is heavily rumored to be in major contract negotiations with USWA powerhouse, The Master Of Pain. Now, for those of you who arent familiar with this man, his real name is Mark Calloway. He has a menacing look and The WWF Executive Committee feel he would play a great monster-like heel, who could pose a major threat to either Hulk Hogan's WWF Title or The Ultimate Warrior's Intercontinental Title upon arrival. He's also extremely agile, especially for a man his size and my sources tell me that he could very well be Number One on the Priority List. Will he sign? Will he live up to all the hype? Only time will tell.

- There has been a lot of talk recently about what a 'No Holds Barred' Match actually is. Nobody at this point really knows for sure. Though some are speculating that it could be somewhat in relevance to what we saw in the 'No Holds Barred' Movie. Be that as it may, many of us must wonder. . . does 'The Immortal' Hulk Hogan actually have more guts than brains?

- And finally, there have been some minor talks lately of introducing a Brand New Singles Title into The World Wrestling Federation, that would stature the value of say. . . The NWA's Television Title, focusing on pure in-ring technicians. There is also talks that should this happen, the title would be defended on a weekly basis.

Ok folks, until next time I'm 'Mean' Gene Okerlund and thanks for calling.

I'm looking forward to this... As much as I'm a WCW man, WWF was the shizzle around this time period. So many great characters to use. There are literally zillions of ways to plot this out.

My favourites from this period, Savage, Mr Perfect undoubtedly, but one I really liked as a young dude back in the day, The Big Boss Man. I loved him wailing on folks with his knight stick. Great stuff. I must say I had a soft spot for the Twin Towers thing altogether, Akeem the African Dream, funny stuff.

WWF Tag Team Title Contenders Tournament:

The Rockers vs The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers - At this stage, the Rockers are still really coming through the ranks. I had a lot of time for the Rougeau Brothers, I remember some good matches with the Hart Foundation.

Mr. Perfect vs The Red Rooster - Legend

WWF World Tag Team Title Match:

The Young Stallions vs The Brain Busters © - Wow, that's right, the Brain Busters, who of course left the Horsemen and the NWA to come here. Tully Blanchard was a great wrestler, but boy... Arn Anderson is just a marvel. He is Mr "Psychology", because everything is so basic but makes so much sense to his character.

'The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase vs Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake - I liked Brutus back int he day, before I knew of the Hogan sponging and all that. Funny story, in the Hulkamania event down here he wrestled Orlando Jordan. Ordinary, ordinary, ordinary match. The highlight... the tights that Beefcake wears split, right in the epicenter of his universe if you know what I mean. He didn't realise till Jimmy Hart told him after the match, and he basically plucked up the buns, got on his high heels and got the hell out of there covering his wu-zu chow-do hole. Talk about breaking character, where's the snip snip, dude? :D

Yeah dude, you can literally go a zillion different ways here. I actually have everything loosely panned out till 'Mania or so . . . but 'loosely' of course, is the key word there. And YES, how great were The Twin Towers! Maybe I'll put the strap on Akeem 'The African Dream' at WrestleMania VI.

lol thats a GREAT story about Brutus! I was always a big fan of his during this era as well. His theme song was way cool. :D

Thanks guys for your support and all the props. Superstars should be up tomorrow . . . and I got a HUGE Prime Time planned for next week. So stay tuned.

Oh, and being Akeem IS the future of the WWF and all. . . you might wanna hit the streets, and pick up this brand new action figure!

Consider it done! I could easily get on this Akeem bandwagon!

Seeing this has really given me an urge to do a 1989 game on TEW. The tag team scene was unreal at this point. Brainbusters (who had a whole bunch of incredible tag matches around this point), the Rockers, Hart Foundation, Rougeau's... love it.
