Worst Finishers Ever?

Wrestling Century

Recommended Posts

To concide with my best finishers ever thread, here's a worst finishers ever thread. In your opinion, what are some of the worst finishers ever? Some of the ones that I think are the worst are:

Hulk Hogan's Legdrop: Seriously? A legdrop? I will pretty much believe anything in the world of pro wrestling, but why would a standard move suddenly become more powerful due to who is doing it?

Remember, this thread is all about opinions. So no arguments!

I really dislike the 619. Just doesn't look like it hurts. Not saying it is the worst, I just dont like it. Maybe the FU/Attitude Adjustment. I am not a hater of John Cena, but how much more would it hurt than a body slam?

The 619 is a kick to the face, are you telling me that wouldn't hurt ? :D

In defense of the Hogan Legdrop and the Brain Chop, they're supposed to be more devastating than the 'usual' version because of the size of the guy doing the move. Khali's a huge guy, as is Hogan. Logically, being hit by one of Khali's hands, full force, should hurt you a lot more than being hit full force by Rey Mysterio, for example; much like Hogan dropping a leg on you would hurt more than, again, Rey Mysterio, doing the same.

I hate the 619 just because of the setup; it's ironic that pretty much the only time a wrestler ever conveniently falls into that position is when they're wrestling Rey Mysterio.

Yeah I forgot about that one, and I agree 100% with you. Everytime I see the 619 it annoys me because like you said the only time you ever see wrestlers in that position is when they are facing Rey.

What The Punt is getting no love? Its a running kick to the face!? So what? You see more devastating moves in every match plus he could do it anytime he wants to on his opponent when he is on the floor.

Also agree with the Chop and Big Show's Punch. Sure because they so big it would hurt more but then wouldn't any move by them finish you off? It just has nothing special.

The worst finisher of all time is the powerbomb imho

If you were to ever try to powerbomb someone in a real fight, you'd lose, badly.

The only powerbomb that makes the slightest sense is the gutwrench powerbomb.

The main problem with the powerbomb is you get a face full of nuts.

I think the worse move is either the people's elbow or the worm. The worm just looks plain stupid though. Both moves take a long time to pull off.

619 position happens a lot - I'd say on WWE programming probably once a week outside of Mysterio matches. Watch out for it in diva matches especially when Beth Phoenix is wrestling, as she does a wicked double kneedrop onto the opponent's back.

However, it's now such a big part of Mysterio's repertoire - to the point that it's threatened two or three times in a big match before it's hit - that few other wrestlers would include the spot in a match, like no-one uses a knee smash, top rope elbow or rope-hung DDT as these are moves associated with HHH, HBK and Orton. Gimmick infringement and all that.

And this thread making page 2 with no mention of Cena's STF is a shock. How he's used the move for so long with no-one apparently telling him how to do it properly is ridiculous. It just looks like he's lying on the other guy's back, giving him a hug.

MVP's 'Playmaker'. Dumb, dumb move. Also, Yoshi Tatsu's kick. A kick to the face can be a cool finish, but Yoshi doesn't get the snap. Apparently not all asians are great at kicking.

I agree with this. Everytime MVP lands this move it doesn't look like it even connects IMO! It looks like a botched move IMO.

Hate this as well. His Drive By Kick/Shining Wizard sort of thing looked great, but he barely uses it and the playmaker/overdrive is just a really plain, useless looking, multiply-recycled move.

Personally...I love it. I love all the different ways he can get people into it and the hilarious ways some people sell it. Makes for a nice little buildup at the end of all of his matches. Plus the jump itself both varies in execution and ways it can be countered. Always exciting.

The Punt is great because of how it's been sold ever since it's debut, and when it hits properly it looks pretty damn good. Suits orton's character perfectly. His expressions make the move amazing alone.

Yeah but they are not really finishers imho more show moves then anything like the five knuckle shuffle which is a poor man's people's elbow. I don't think they ever got a win by using those moves except if it was an uber jobber.

He beat Hulk Hogan with the People's Elbow.

I will go with The Canadian Destroyer. Most the time it just looks way to convoluted.

Totally.

... and how can anyone complain the The Powerbomb is unrealistic? I mean, it is, but there are far less plausible moves. The Jackhammer, for example. Powerbombs were cool when Vader did them. He was a huge, scary guy and it was pretty plausible that he could lift you up and toss you around in any way he wanted. These days, with every Tom, Dick and Jamie Noble powerbombing folks, no wonder it's become less believable.
