Info about Skins / Screens

Recommended Posts

Here is the compiled list of new / modified screens of TEW2010. All the other screens that used to be in the 'Backgrounds' folder in TEW2008 can be directly imported (not exported? :D) to TEW2010 without any errors or malfunctions such as missing buttons except for these, most of which have new buttons or are completely new to the game:

I'm actually going to for an ambitious thingy first as I'm going to do all the screens without the backgrounds and then release the pack. Meaning that the only thing that are in the screens are the boxes and buttons and all the rest is erased, meaning that every skin maker can download my started set and just simply paste their background images of their liking into those and thus make their own set within no time :) + The ability to create their borders if they so wish.

E: So it would look something like this, here's the announcers screen:

Now one can just click the white/transparent part of the image and just simply copy/paste their background image of choice into it. The borders are crisp clean and there shouldn't be any problems for example using magic wand to select the area :) Also adding your own borders of liking is as easy! Hopefully this will help a lot of people.

There's 144 images in the Backgrounds folder and while this is going to be huge amount of work, I'm willing to sacrifice myself to this for the day as this will help a lot of people in so many ways. I'm actually polishing every single image by hand after the erasing of the background so that there wont be any blue pixels of the background in the sides of the buttons or the boxes, or at the edges of the image. :)

If you are now making a skin yourself and editing the background stuff etc, I'd say STOP and wait for this pack to be released. It'll save you 500% of the time that you'd be using doing the same stuff that I'm doing now. :p

TUTORIAL HELP OF HOW USING THE STARTER PACK

Here's a quick guide to those who know little of image editing / aren't used to it but want to make their own Skin pack using this starter set that I'll be doing. Here's an explanation of what to do, step by step.

0.) Download the pack (When it's finished). Then extract the contents to a folder and start editing the images.

1.)

Here is the 'Advance Booking' screen. This is how it's going to look when you open it in whatever program you're going to use. As you can see I haven't polished some of the button edges but I'll do that for the final version.

2.)

Choose 'Magic Wand' and click on the white part of the image, the background (It shows as transparent on my screen as I had been editing the image, it'll show to you as white). So now the background is selected. If you are experiensing weird borders try modifying the 'Tolerance' level of the Magic Wand -tool.

3.) Copy the background image of your choosing that you have open in the program aswell (I'm using an image from my earlier pack) and paste / paste it into the selection.

When I do that straight to this help -file that I hadn't polished yet it shows to me like this. Lots of rugged edges around the black part and the boxes but when you do the copy/paste to the released final images it should have no weird borders! So now you are done! Just save the image with the same name and continue to the next image. All the editing done in two clicks! :D

In short: just select the background part and paste your background image of choosing into the selected area :)

( 4.))

If however there are rugged edges, here's a simple way to get rid off them: If you notice that there's problems with the lines and/or the edges of the buttons etc, just go step back with Undo (CTRL+Y) and you'll be back in the selection part (Help image #2). Now go Select -> Modify -> Expand (by 1 pixel (If the error is still there after this and you need to do it again, always go with 1 pixel) and then paste your background image into the selected area. You should see that any errors within the borders are now gone as the selection area grow one pixel bigger.

Here's how it should look after this treatment:

E: 42/144 done :D

105/144 DONE

I'll release the pack soon and create another thread for my 'Starter's pack'. Can't wait to show you guys how easy the skin editing can be with this stuff. I'll provide 10 different Skin choices and prob. make a poll about which one I should do, etc. :)

Seriously, people can do their own skins in just .. 10 minutes. Imagine that. Compared to that 7-12hrs normally :D

.jpg as it's the same format that the game uses. :) But I'll release the pack as .rar. Almost done altough I'm so exhausted from all the clicking.. I've been doing this for the last.. 6 hours? Altough I've been doing some other stuff at the same time but still.. Thousands and thousands of clicks.
