Ninja Turtle
I am a former computer science major and am well-versed in C# and VB. I have been waiting to put that to good use lately:p. Would anyone be interested in an offline BBCode WYSIWYG editor? I've searched around online and haven't found anything really. If it's already out there then I won't do it. However, I would imagine that it would be nice to be able to type up shows in a Word type document well in advance and save it to your hard drive, and then just copy and paste the automatically generated BBCode to the forums when ready to post. Does this already exist? And if not, is there any interest in it? It really would only take about a week or two to get a nice little program out there. And it would be free of course! Jaded
I'd be VERY interested, and I'd imagine it would be hugely popular.
praguepride
This could potentially save me a lot of time as formatting my RIPW diary took about 30 minutes by the end, what with the colors and the graphics and the watcha ma haves its
LoNdOn
I would certainly be interested. i think the reason a lot of people stop diaries, or don't attempt them at all is because of the time it takes to write them up.
Stennick
I think this would be a good move.
Ninja Turtle
Okay then, I like the interest! I will definitely get started on that over the weekend. It should only take a week or so based on my idea behind it. It's really kind of cheating, but as long as it gets the job done then that's all that counts. For those who are confused about this, I've gotten a couple PMs already: Essentially I will design a Word-type program in which you can type out your forum posts exactly how you would want them to appear on the forums. There will then be a 'copy BBCode to clipboard' type of button that will automatically copy the BBCode behind what you are seeing on your screen. All you would have to do then is go into your forum post and hit paste. This will help alleviate staring at a bunch of BBCode for long and complicated posts and should hopefully help speed the process of posting dynasties. This will also be nice because you can essentially save posts to your computer for future use.

Ninja Turtle
Yes, that one is a BBCode editor. What I am currently working on is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. I believe my vision will be more clear to some when I release the editor. Progress has already begun.

There is a WYSIWIG editor as part of the site... when you quote a post the icon in the top right corner will switch between the regular and WYSIWIG options. It's not perfect but it's very good for those who want to use it. Though if anyone can do better I'd be happy.

Well there you go, I have never noticed the WYSIWYG aspect of these forums (or any other forums)! In fact, you can use it at any time, not just limited to when you quote someone. I just went in and tried messing with it as a new post and it worked there too. Check this out too: This was typed in Microsoft Word, and copied into the WYSIWYG forums. This is really cool. Can you tell by my redish font? How about my blueish? So, there you go everyone. Who needs my program? Just type your dynasties up in Word, and when you post, click on the little icon on the top right of the 'message' box with the two different looking A's on it, copy your Word work and paste it directly in and it will show up precisely as in Word (or any other word processor, I'm assuming). Stennick
Well A for effort man and without you coming up with the idea some of us may not have done it.
Derek B
The forum's WSYIWYG editor isn't great though... when I was sending out the initial roles for my mafia game (check out the bottom of the forums! ) I was using it and had a lot of problems with it adding tons of useless text. Any way to get a cleaner port over would be nice, so even though the forums have the capability, I'd still appreciate anything that makes things even better. It's all good.
