Remianen
Unfolding the Lore Timeline February 2008 - Wrestling dirtsheets start speculating as reports from the locker rooms of several smaller promotions of unusually loose spending patterns begin to surface. March 2008 - Permission is requested (and granted!) by several prominent promotions for a documentary on the world's growing population of women's wrestlers. The project, produced by Surefall Films, is reported to have the largest budget for a documentary ever, at $65 million. Sam Strong, perhaps the most recognizable pro wrestler in the world and owner of United States Pro Wrestling, jumps on the chance to raise the profile of his new women's division (as well as that of his daughter Alicia, the centerpiece of the division) and negotiates a larger segment for his promotion, much of which finds itself on the cutting room floor (though it reappears in its entirety in the director's cut DVD version). Also in March, a largely ignored article from an American financial daily in November 2007 in which a prominent investor cites women's wrestling as 'the next great growth industry in entertainment' is brought to the fore when investigative reports link said investor to the ownership of Surefall Films. April 2008 - Laura McKenna, the wrestler more commonly known as Miss Information, is spotted in Munich, Germany at the rooftop terrace of the Hotel Rafael, largely recognized as the most ritzy property in the city, having dinner with a person of interest. They are later joined by an immaculately dressed, muscular man with flowing blond hair and a striking woman, later identified as Byron, the owner of European Wrestling All-Stars and Elle, a regular on the independent circuit. The rumor mill begins churning with reports that Byron had sold his promotion, but no confirming announcements are made. It is interesting to note that in the following months, EWA expands its roster, adding Elle and indy regular Karen Bilous. May 2008 - Leading up to the release of the documentary, several high profile cards and their dream matches are produced which send tape traders into a frenzy and produce an unprecedented spike in DVD sales for the sponsoring promotions. The remaining members of 5SSW's Magic Three rack up the frequent flyer miles as they are widely exposed to a large American and Canadian audiences. In an attempt to show their absolute skill levels, many of women's wrestling's best lock horns with some of the best men's workers in the world. In particular, Sensational Thunder versus The Stone Siblings and Sean McFly versus Alicia Strong at NOTBPW Grappling Glory are lauded by some as strong contenders for Match of the Year. For her swan song, Dan Stone's baby girl came out of retirement for one night only to wrestle a 30 minute draw with her former colleague, Sensational Ogiwara at NOTBPW Jeopardy in June. Unfortunately, the Byron & Miss Information vs James Justice & Belle Bryden match at the USPW Apple Pie and Wrestling event months later wasn't nearly as well received (though, all things considered, the Emma Bitch-Cherry Bomb match on the same card went down remarkably well). June 2008 - After a marketing blitz befitting a big budget action movie, wrestling fans of all stripes flood theaters for 'The Total Package - Women of Wrestling', to the tune of $77 million in its opening weekend. The film goes on to gross $206 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing documentary ever and igniting interest in a largely ignored segment of an often disparaged industry. On the heels of the film's release, Dan Stone, owner of North of the Border Pro Wrestling and patriarch of what is referred to in the film as 'The Stone Dynasty', stands agape inside the Newfoundland Rugby Grounds as news reporters outside the arena report rampant ticket scalping for the Jeopardy in June show being held. Pay per view provider Canada-1 Choice reports record call volume leading up to the event as people unable to get tickets crowd into their local watering holes to watch. July 2008 - Public tryouts and enrollments at the reputable wrestling schools reach a boiling point and several new wrestling schools sprout up around the world. The first public tryout in July held by the legendary House of Stone has to be done in the parking lot as the sheer number of aspirants overwhelms the spartan facility. For the first time in the school's history, the presence of a Stone draws media attention. The surprising part is which Stone it turns out to be as Victoria drops in to check on the newest class and is greeted by a camera crew from a local TV station eager to get a comment from her, not her brothers or her husband or father. The most prominent of new schools opening their doors is the House of Tradition, the formerly private school run by DaVE legend Eric Tyler. August 2008 - After an appearance on the acclaimed public television show 'The Creative Outlet', a platform usually restricted to writers, directors, and actors of various stripes, interview requests for Victoria Stone begin to flood the offices of NOTBPW. The downside of fame also begins to make itself apparent as photos and videos of Victoria with her husband Sean and their 5 year old daughter Lucy, begin to make the rounds of the various gossip and celebrity dish shows and magazines. Video of little Lucy falling during a skiing lesson in British Columbia becomes the 'awwwww' moment of the year and leads to modeling offers. September 2008 - Appearances abound for several prominent women's workers. Alicia Strong shows up as the love interest in the video for Rotorblade's 'Strong Enough' single, fueling its popularity. Laura McKenna competes in the British version of 'Celebrity Understudy', finishing a respectable third place. A segment on Canadian television 'The Women of North of the Border' airs, highlighting the promotion's women's division (including new arrival Kristabel Plum). October 2008 - Several industry giants downplay the recent surge in interest for women wrestlers. Richard Eisen, owner of the world's largest and most recognizable wrestling company, the Supreme Wrestling Federation, when reached for comment states flatly, "It's a fad, just like hardcore was. This time next year, no one will care about women in the ring". Somewhere, a mischievous smirk crosses an unlined face. Days later, Sam Strong rebuts Eisen's comment with, "Someday Richard will realize that an entire world exists outside of SWF. Maybe one day. Until then, we can leave him to his dreams of what SWF might be like today had he not fired Tommy Cornell." January 2009 - Tragedy strikes, raising the common concerns about the industry and showing how similar the two genders can be, as NOTBPW women's champion Emma Bitch reportedly tests positive for an undisclosed drug, leading to her dismissal after the first show of the new year. This is soon followed by an announcement in Birmingham, England by Laura "Miss Information" McKenna announcing the opening of a new women's wrestling promotion. Named Catch Wrestling Society (or CWS), the promotion begins running shows weekly around the Midlands area, prompting industry insiders to question where the funding for the venture is coming from. "Backyard feds holding shows in their driveways can barely break even with no talent fees. There's no way this outfit can be making money", one unnamed promoter says. These questions reach a fever pitch when CWS announces the acquisition of a local card parlor they intend to renovate and use as their primary home. More to come....... Remianen
Timeline (cont.) February 2009 - Capitalizing on their popularity in their respective countries, the producers of Crime Lab, the top rated show in North America, offer roles to both Victoria Stone and Alicia Strong in their season ending cliffhanger storyline. The roles, of suburban mothers who conspire to kill the teacher accused of molesting their children, evoke powerful emotions and cast the women in a unique light, bolstering (and increasing) their mainstream popularity. March 2009 - Massive upheaval amongst the venerable women's promotions. First, sources report the strained relationship between AAA owner Anne Stardust and longtime booker Catherine Quine reaches a boiling point as immediately following the close of AAA's Girl on Girl Action event, a shouting match erupts between the two women and they have to be separated before the situation escalates. As the locker room settles, the unthinkable happens: Anne Stardust's history is revisited as she fires Catherine Quine on the spot. In 5SSW, an era comes to a close as a press conference is held in Japan and, mere weeks prior to the start of another tour, Sensational Ogiwara, the greatest women's performer in history, announces her retirement from active competition. A career retrospective is planned and run involving the entire 'Magic Three', attended by a whos who of wrestling, of both genders. The event raises millions for the Children's Hospital of Tokyo, leading to funding for the construction of the 'Magic Three Pediatric Intensive Care Annex'. April 2009 - AAA runs a 'Not Just A Pretty Face' event that bombs, proving that not everyone can capitalize on the surge in interest. May 2009 - National TV newsmagazine 'The Scoop' does a co-op piece with the 'Wrestling Heat' industry dirt sheet in which the mounting troubles of AAA are fully brought to light. Catherine Quine features prominently as she reveals the reasons behind the rift that formed between her and Anne Stardust. She states flatly that Stardust was offered $2 million for a 35% stake in AAA ("The entire promotion isn't worth that much," Quine states flatly), which she turned down while the promotion struggled to make progress. The kicker, according to Quine, was when Stardust ordered her to pare the roster down and cut costs even further, something Quine felt would prevent the promotion from putting on decent shows. In the closing segment, Quine states "I have some exciting things in the works so fans shouldn't get the idea that I won't be back. I'll have an announcement to make in the next few months". Soon after the show airs, AAA is hit with a wave of talent resignations, leaving Anne Stardust scrambling to find replacements. June 2009 - TV show 'I Love Gossip' airs footage of a calendar photo shoot held in South Beach. Notables present include Alicia Strong, Victoria Stone (with hubby Sean McFly and daughter Lucy), Tracy Brendon (and fiancé and TCW star Joshua Taylor) and big sister Michelle, Sara Marie York, Honey Golightly, Tamara McFly, and.....Catherine Quine with boyfriend Damian "The Natural" Carvill. One segment shown had Tamara putting little Lucy into a Boston Crab on the beach, only to have the little girl roll under and turn it into a playful pinfall attempt as her father played ref. The look of joy on the little girl's face turns into another 'awwww' moment and leads to even more modeling offers. July 2009 - AAA begins its rebuilding effort when it is announced that former TWL star Leo Davis is given the book. Davis immediately begins hiring young workers graduating from the nation's wrestling schools to fill gaps in the roster. He promises to "restore AAA to its rightful place as the world's foremost purveyor of women's wrestling entertainment". Also in women's news, Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling announces the signing of former BSC worker Charlize Angelle to a managerial contract. The news of its biggest star's departure comes as a heavy blow on backstage morale. August 2009 - Honey Golightly, owner of the Babes of Sin City promotion, announces an agreement in principle to sell a 48% stake in her promotion. While omitting who she sold it to, she also announces that changes will be made to the promotion in order to introduce more traditional in-ring work to the product. Two weeks later, a press conference held at the Piper Casino's primary conference room is used to introduce Canadian women's star Tamara McFly as the promotion's newest acquisition. September 2009 - The floodgates begin to open as independent shows across the globe showcase a new generation of women's workers. At the same time, cryptic commercials begin airing on TV stations across the world with a 'Hail to the Queens' tagline, sending the blogosphere into a fevered frenzy. Catherine Quine resurfaces to announce the formation of a new wrestling promotion. Named Ladies Fighting Championship and based in Miami, Florida, the promotion aims to feature the very best young workers and give them the stage to show their talent. The surprise mounts further as she announces she will be the promotion's 'managing director' but will not be booking it. Instead, she has chosen her protegé, young rising talent (and former AAA worker) Sara Marie York to handle booking duties. Investigative reporters begin digging into the promotion's legal filings trying to ascertain who is behind it. Next: The money shot

Remianen
Timeline (cont.) October 1st, 2009 - Halifax, Nova Scotia A family meeting is called, the day after a TV show that broke previous ratings records. An older gentleman walks into what is usually called the family room and looks over the assembled people. The father of Canadian wrestling surveys his legacy. With monikers like 'the Canadian Wrestling Machine' and 'Submission Demon' and worldwide recognition as the best at their chosen vocation, he had a lot to be proud of. Conspicuously in attendance, and visibly uncomfortable, was the eldest son of his biggest competitor and friendly rival, a fairly recent addition to the "family" in Steve DeColt. "Steve, relax", he says. "You're as much a part of this as anyone else." As he takes a seat in his favorite La-Z-Boy chair, the silence in the room is shattered by a high-pitched voice. "Granpa, granpa!" is heard before a red blur enters the room and stops on a dime. Staring warily at Steve DeColt with an intense glare he quickly returns, she says through clenched teeth, "You're going DOWN, DeColt!". The tense moment is broken by a peal of laughter and a playful chop on the arm as she hops into her grandfather's lap. "That was really good, Lucille. Where did you learn that?", Dan Sr asks. "Here and there", she says, blushing when DeColt gives her a thumbs up. "Daddy does promos in the mirror.", as restrained laughter fills the room and the unshakable Sean McFly goes red-faced. "Right, so I brought you all here to announce I'm just about done. I think it's time I took a step back and handed the reins over to someone else. I've spoken to you all over the last few months and it's helped me to make a decision on who it is I plan to turn over control of the promotion to...."October 2009 - The month starts off with a bang as a press release is made by NOTBPW that Dan Stone Sr., the highly regarded father of Canadian wrestling, will be retiring. In his place, the new owner of the promotion is revealed to be....Victoria Stone. The Canadian legend's only daughter promises to make subtle changes to make the product more appealing to multiple generations of fans. AAA suffers yet another setback as midcarders Michelle & Tracy Brendon and Missy Masterson and veteran tag team Wild Times, Devil's Daughter and Vixxen, join the list of workers who have walked out on the promotion, citing creative differences with management. Several weeks after the cryptic commercials began airing, a press conference is held at a hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. Conspicuously present, aside from newly named NOTBPW owner Victoria Stone, are reporters from three major wire services as well as reporters from Mexico, Japan, Europe, and the United Kingdom. An investor known for foresight and trendspotting announces the imminent formation of a women's wrestling promotion named 'Queens of American Wrestling'. It is also revealed that the investor holds a controlling interest in the previously announced CWS and LFC promotions as well as being part owner of Honey Golightly's Babes of Sin City operation. Also announced were the openings of several new promotions, also owned and financed by the investor. Canadian Women's Wrestling Federation (CWWF) based out of Calgary run by former Malloy Development executive Veronica Bedford and booked by Demi Award winning television and film writer and producer Marcy Stuyvesant. WINNOW: Japanese Women's Wrestling based out of Osaka run by joshi trailblazer Lioness Mushashibo and booked by former AAA and 5SSW worker Tsuki Kawamata. Women of Texas Wrestling based out of Austin and run by Maria Martinez (daughter of Victor Hidalgo Martinez, the Mexican immigrant real estate developer whose rise to prominence was detailed in the biopic "My Name Is Victor") and booked by none other than DaVE legend Nemesis. And finally, Lucha Libre Extreme, owned and run by Mayer and Demi nominated director Alexis Buffett (granddaughter of "The Sage of Des Moines", billionaire Walter Buffett) who managed to score (or steal, depending on who you ask) arguably the most popular personality in lucha libre in veteran manager Cuervo to book the promotion. Seeming to set the industry aflame, a revelation is made regarding the workers hired to staff these promotions. According to an anonymous insider, many of the workers formerly associated with AAA were signed to lucrative exclusive contracts as far back as June. In addition, since January, a team of scouts and talent evaluators have been "beating the bushes" so to speak, actively seeking new and emerging talent. It has also become apparent that a relative marketing blitz has been scheduled, with many of the promotion's workers booked on a variety of appearances planned for the talent. Their first show has been announced to be scheduled for the second Sunday in November. On the flip side of things, not everything was positive. The press explodes when, immediately following 'Let the Games Begin', young managers Hannah Potter and BJ O'Neill walk out on SWF, alleging sexual harassment and assault at the hands of one Scott Sinclair (known in wrestling circles as Big Smack Scott). Days after the event, the two young ladies file a lawsuit seeking release from their contracts plus unspecified damages. SWF releases a statement calling the suit 'frivolous' and 'completely without merit'. The bad gets worse as the ladies make the rounds of the talk show circuit and anonymous SWF employees feed the dirtsheets information and U-Tube ignites with several videos of Scott backstage during and after TV tapings, exposing himself to backstage staff. The heat intensifies until a settlement is announced days before Halloween. While the press and women's advocacy groups villify him in the press and convict him in the court of public opinion, SWF writers take advantage of the situation and use it to create the single most genuinely and universally hated, reviled, and despised wrestler in recent memory. A world title run seems likely. November 2009 - Jamie Curie scores an exclusive interview with the group of women central to the surge in interest in women's wrestling. Victoria Stone details how the investor pitched the idea of a more robust women's scene worldwide in late 2007. Catherine Quine fills in the financial and behind the scenes troubles that occurred within the most venerable women's promotion in North America as well as explaining the circumstances of the investor's offer to Anne Stardust ("I don't think she even considered the offer. Just dismissed it offhand, insulting the investor at the same time"). Alicia Strong adds what she knows as the heir to USPW. Honey Golightly goes into why she sold a large portion of her business to the investor ("When someone offers you far more than fair market value for less than a controlling interest in your business, you take it. That sale increased the value of Babes exponentially. I now have real investors, in addition to the regular creeps and pervs, beating down my door trying to get a piece of what I have." Stifled giggles go 'round the room as Honey smirks). Maria Martinez explains the process by which DaVE legend Nemesis was coaxed out of his self-imposed exile to book a women's promotion ("If you look throughout his career, John has always been about making an impact. I think this was an opportunity for him to do that in an area and on a scale he hadn't even considered before."). A week prior to their inaugural Showcase event, QAW confirms the signing of Hannah Potter and BJ ONeill in a press release. In it, they take several veiled shots at SWF ("We are proud to be able to provide these talented performers a safe and respectful place to showcase their impressive talents") as well as Richard Eisen himself ("Our ownership does not and will not allow or condone harassment and/or sexual assault of any kind in our organization. And we surely would not seek to profit from such deplorable actions"). When reached for comment on the QAW statement, a representative at SWF said, "Who?". Minor shakeup at BSC. "As a result of a shuffling of responsibility tiers, Marilyn Stardust will no longer oversee the company's creative direction. In her place, Jennifer 'Jen' Neptune has been chosen.A two-time holder of both the Girl Power tag title (with sister Kathy) and the Queen of the Ring title, Jen brings years of experience as an in-ring competitor and a unique point of view to the position. We at Babes of Sin City sincerely thank Marilyn for her patience and perseverance in leading us this far and look forward to the new horizons Jen has planned for our fans." The inaugural QAW Showcase is held. Easily the biggest budget event ever held for women's wrestling, the star-studded three and a half hour extravaganza was truly a showcase event for all promotions who participated. In addition to showcase matches for the development territories, the show is capped off by a 'Clash of the Champions' as USPW Women's champion Raven Robinson, EWA Women's champion Anna Ki, 5SSW World champion DEVIL Karube, NOTBPW Women's champion Kristabel Plum, and newly crowned QAW World champion Saving Grace square off for promotional supremacy. This was preceded by an amazing four way match that threatened to steal the show that featured Lauren Easter (of NOTBPW), Alicia Strong (of USPW), Joanne Rodriguez (of QAW), and Megumi Nakajima (of 5SSW). In all, the show has turned into a must-see event for fans of wrestling in general and women's wrestling in particular. The final two matches have broken the 14 and 11 million hits marks respectively, on U-Tube. There is talk that the event could become an annual one but that has not been confirmed. Conspicuous in their absence was AAA who insiders say weren't even extended an invitation to participate. December 2009 - A feature article in Sports Business magazine with the investor finally hits newsstands. In it, the investor goes into detail about several moves made that have come into question. For example, building custom venues for the development promotions ("With the exception of LFC and WINNOW who tour regularly, we felt it best for our long term prospects to secure a site where our shows could be held. It helps with fan retention when they know there is ONE place they can go in their area to see the highest quality wrestling shows as well as see the stars of tomorrow "before they were stars". There is also a lot of value to be found in building each brand independent of the parent and having a state of the art venue to point at reflects well on the primary resident of said venue.") and signing workers to exclusive contracts ("It's for the protection of all involved parties. We know how high the quality of our facilities are, medical and otherwise. We know all about the safety of our product. We know how our workers are packaged and promoted and we spend a great deal marketing them. Under those circumstances, we feel it best to ensure that the investments we make in our workers will bear fruit to us, and not to other companies. In addition, our workers know they'll be taken care of should they get injured and be unable to perform for any amount of time. Ask Jeri Behr about that.") as well as the abundance of talent they've found in just a year ("We have scouts everywhere. We have contacts at many of the world's foremost wrestling academies. We invest heavily in beating the bushes, so to speak, to uncover the hidden gems that other promotions might ignore. We have a development system in place to help these women reach their full potential. We have working agreements in place with likeminded promotions so our workers are exposed to the widest variety of styles, in order to create well rounded performers. In short, you have to spend money to make money and rather than rely on others to develop talent in haphazard fashion, we choose to reinvest our profits into the business to ensure its growth in perpetuity."). Also revealed in the article is that the promotion is sifting through offers from pay per view carriers and television networks to "find the right fit" and that the company expects to announce its events schedule at the beginning of the year. Remianen
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Kension/Misc/LFC%20Diary/EWR_net3.jpg Wrestling industry broadsided This revolution WILL be televised Following yesterday's announcement of the Queens of American Wrestling's chosen broadcasting partners, our sources have given us insight into the behind the scenes operations of the new company. From all accounts, an unfathomable amount of money has been spent over the last two years on everything ranging from worker training, packaging, and development to the always vague "future considerations". An example of one such project is the worker known as Olivia Diamond. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Kension/Misc/LFC%20Diary/OliviaDiamond.jpg Olivia Diamond is a youngster from Tennessee, who had some rudimentary in-ring ability, but was far more likely to be hired based on her looks. Although she classes herself as an active wrestler, she also occasionally does managerial work too. Rumour has it that she had a try out for the Babes Of Sin City promotion in 2006, but was not hired as the promotion couldn't afford to add anybody else to the roster at that point in time. Insiders have revealed that she was signed in the latter half of 2007 and assigned a position as a community relations rep for Surefall Films while she underwent extensive training under the watchful eye of Victoria Corbett, better known in wrestling circles as April Appleseed. By all accounts, she fell off the wrestling radar until she took up residence in a suite at the Magic Castle hotel in Hollywood, California. From there, records show her spending significant amounts of time in the company of some of the city's foremost image consultants. Sources indicate she had visited the office of Dr. Sidney Howard's dental & orthodontics practice as well as Melinda Williams' salon. Wrestling Heat, your #1 source for wrestling news, has acquired a promo picture of Olivia Diamond. The change in look is dramatic and a credit to all the work spent on repackaging a worker many had thought a lost cause and "useless" as a performer. Take a gander at Olivia Diamond now: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Kension/Misc/QAW%20diary/OliviaDiamond_alt1.jpg Render by jtlant Soon we will see just how complete the transformation is, as the first edition of QAW's Impact! show takes place on the first Monday of 2010. But something to keep in mind is a rumor we've heard from several sources. Many of the workers on QAW's expected opening roster, were considered similarly to Diamond. In addition to several well regarded rookies (including a pair produced by Scout and Guide, TCW's World Tag Team champions the New Wave), there are several similar reclamation projects. If they debut with similar image changes, there would appear to be no ending to the veritable geyser of talent available to the new startup. Given the Cult following they've developed in a very short time and the resources at their disposal, could we be in for a changing of the gender guard? Remianen
Shooting for next weekend but I'm still waiting to hear back from collaborators with things they've done. The number of promotions isn't really important (there are about 6-8 promotions set to debut at some point) since it's a scenario. So the player won't be able to play EVERY promotion (several of them are child/development promotions) but each existing promotion has its own focused challenge and goals. That tends to happen when you have an owner who has a history of being an egotistical fop who likes firing people who are making her far more money than she can make on her own (see: Brooks, Heidi, Stardust, Marilyn, and now Quine, Catherine). She's cheap, stodgy, and set in her ways. Bad things tend to happen to owners like that (just like in real life - they get steamrolled by people with vision). All that said, AAA is a challenge (and a stiff one) but it's not the biggest challenge in the mod. The biggest challenge of the mod is going to be taking a promotion very similar (financially) to WCW and making it viable without cutting any talent. But I'll explain it all in the release thread. I'm a bit antsy to give a couple of characters (you know who they are ) the push they warrant. You never know, they might already have the push you think they warrant. No matter how bad or how far AAA has fallen it will be the 1st promotion i use. So Remianen how many new workers(female) are you going to be adding. Added workers is around 130ish (I think). If you're starting with AAA, you might qualify for sainthood. BANANAS is that promotion. Sorry for the delay. It's tax season and I've got way more than I expected in the way of clients. But I'm working on the injury file primarily and getting that taken care of. Then I'll add the existing storylines and some additional narratives and be ready for release. How many new womens only feds will we be seen. I bet the womens seen in Japan is rocking also. AAA or die,AAA or die is ma motto.
fusionfreak
You never know, they might already have the push you think they warrant. Added workers is around 130ish (I think). Awesome, thanks for the update. Don't work yourself to death though Remi. We can wait. Just take care of business first, then go on vacation, then finish the mod. (Well, that's my advice anyway.) Remianen
Right now, I'm waiting for ReapeR to open up for requests and once I get the titles I have in mind done by him, I'll be ready for release. I may add a few more workers as future debuts but that'll be spur of the moment, I think.
