Zroka
Hi guy, So for a while now I want to do something special in TEW. Something like UFC. I know it's a wrestling game, and it's not coded for MMA. But there a two products type there in game and I'm curious if someone have tried to do something with it (Realism and Ultra Realism). if yes what are you shows about ? I mean, It is possible to make real MMA show with it ? Other question, but more about matches. If I build a MMA style Fed, one of the KEY, will be the result of the match...So to book the match I will not declare a winner of course, but how is the winner declared then ? Randomly ? Road Agent ? Or on some specific skills ? By the way, I saw that in the product screen, there a two new things, a column Minimum Level and Maximum Level... I admit that I don't understand what it is. Sorry for my english (I'm French) Zroka
Infernalmiko
You'd be better off with WMMA2 to run a real MMA promotion. In TEW2010 it'll just be like Rings, which was MMA style but all matches are still booked. Left on random, the computer will typically pick whoever is ranked higher or has more overness, if I recall correctly.
Capelli King
i tried this many times, the problem is that the random result always picks the most over worker, so that does not work well. Besides that, this type of product is not very popular outside Japan. I think that Adam took away the MMA aspect from the game with Inspire going bankrupt, many of the top MMA fighters going out of business and with almost no new talent in the genre. Even the other Japanese promotions which had a very Pure or hard hitting product are getting their products toned down. The other problem is getting talent for them, due to the need to have talented workers, most new guys are pretty useless, you cannot get the promotion developed quickly unless you have wrestlers which can really work I think that with the creation of WMMA, TEW has become more of a traditional\Mainstream booking game (not that it was not that way in the past)
Infernalmiko
Pure/hard hitting really have nothing to do with being MMA though. PGHW was not remotely MMA, it reminded me more of Kings Road era AJPW. INSPIRE was the MMA/Rings styled promotion and that had to do with high/Key Hyper-realism. Capelli King
with Inspire dead and most the MMA versed talent out of business, basically all that died with it

praguepride
To specifically address questions... Download the TEW 2008 demo and use the data converter (or just look at it manually) and check out INSPIRE. It's exactly what you are looking for, an MMA organization run like a wrestling company. You can check out their product settings and the workers they used. Other question, but more about matches. If I build a MMA style Fed, one of the KEY, will be the result of the match...So to book the match I will not declare a winner of course, but how is the winner declared then ? Randomly ? Road Agent ? Or on some specific skills ? As noted, unless you pick a winner, the person with more popularity will always win. Even if it's .01 difference, they'll win. In an absolute tie, it goes down to worker personality (i.e. driven & bold would go over humble and naive)...I BELIEVE. Not sure as I haven't tested it. I don't think it will ever be based on skills or randomness though. If you want an actual talent-based fed where winners are picked because they really won the match, play WMMA or WMMA2. They're both by the same guy that did TEW so it's a similar experience, but the workers actually duke it out. By the way, I saw that in the product screen, there a two new things, a column Minimum Level and Maximum Level... I admit that I don't understand what it is. New to TEW 2010 is the ability for promotions to alter their product over time. I believe this is mainly for the AI but it allows product settings to "shift". Thus you can set the ABSOLUTE minimum and maximum settings and the AI will drift around between those two. Sorry for my english (I'm French) Zroka It's ok. You speak (type?) better then quite a few native english speakers on the board
Blackman
Pff. Staged MMA matches are so lame, just because you know it's scripted. What you CAN do however is soms MMA influences (perhaps set it to medium at most). TNA had some matches with MMA finishes. I remember watching Angle vs McGuiness (I think) which ended with a triangle choke out of nowhere. Very MMA-esque. MMA on key or high is just doomed to fail really. INSPIRE didn't just die, right. SteamOdin
I agree with staged MMA matches being lame, thats why I can't watch UFC *zing!*
brashleyholland
This is living proof of why nothing good comes of an MMA bout with a fixed finnish. Former UFC and Pride GP tournement champion Mark 'The Hammer' Coleman (fighting Randy Couture in the main event of the next UFC), seen here giving Pride figurehead and former pro wrestle Nobuhiko Takada the worlds easyest heel-hook. In return he got a sizable cheque and what was essentially a free pass to the 2000 GP finals. http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_Mark_Coleman_vs_Nobuhiko_Takada_Pride_5?vid=10000418 Skip to 15 mins in order to waste as little of your life as possible. Infernalmiko
Or if you want to watch worked MMA, do a youtube search for Volk Han, Kiyoshi Tamura or Akira Maeda. 95% of Rings matches were worked, up until probably 1999. Rings closed in 2002, the new Rings that opened in the last couple of years is a different animal. There is nothing wrong with worked MMA fights, some of them are pretty awesome matches. I love Volk Han's stuff. So it's doable but sadly it is true the really good MMA guys are either on written contracts or out of the business. But we can always hope Buddy Garner makes a comeback!
