Hey,

My little brother tuck our hardrive to his friends, put it in his xbox and played on it. He come back and now our Xbox is banned from live, he says his mates Xbox is chipped, is there anyone to get ours unblocked now?

As far as im aware, it didn't effect harddrives but banned the serial numbers of chipped xboxes so that they couldn't be played on live

You ready for this:

From what i've read, the only way to get your banned XBOX 360 , unbanned is too... BUY A NEW XBOX 360. Then you have to switch (something i can't remmber, exactly) and put it into your banned system. You then have to make sure that the new system NEVER goes online nor has it EVER been online in the past. (which is why it is recommended in buying a brand new one, not just a new to you) In the event that NEW system ever goes online whether its at the same time as the modded system or not, both systems will be banned from LIVE permanently.

I don't recall the website I found the info at but I bought a used 360 and haven't been able to get my 360 to connect through my laptop (despite the tutorials I follow step by step) so wasn't sure if it was banned or not. So I google searched a way to see if i could get in unbanned that was the only thing that came up. Long story short if you get banned the only thing to do is just buy a new one and just use that one for live, save all the switching and modding.

Your 360 was modified.

If it's banned it will TELL you it is banned.

Got an update from him.....

- Tuck to friends house, tuck there hardrive out and put his in.

- Tuck it home, put it in MY Xbox.

- Had 10/11 profile, now only got five [the one with Xbox live has gone?]

- Made new account, signed up for trial and when I went to go on multiplayer on MW2 it stated ‘THE CURRENT PROFILE IS NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY ON XBOX LIVE’

Any help is appreciated, i am about to murder this kid :p

The only way yours would be banned is if it was modded or attempted to be modified. It has nothing to do with hard drives so your not getting the whole story.l

I have to say: Punching him.

It really is the only way. I don't advocate violence as a general rule, but I'm assuming he doesn't have the cash to front up for a new 360 (I guess you can just get a core version for around £125 now or something, but even so). Really the only alternative is grievous bodily harm.

The only possible way around this is if it's a new machine (under one month, I'd guess) then you might be able to take it back to the shop and say that it's stopped going online etc. Still, it'd be the shop taking on a busted XBox because of your brother's actions, so...

Just a few nudges, here and there. Something he'll remember for years to come, and that'll make it difficult to walk for the next few days. Nothing more dangerous than a baseball bat... :D

In all seriousness, I think your brother and his friend owe you a new console. How you get that out of them is up to you, but he's screwed up your console, so you need to get him to sort it out - whatever it takes. At least it's not so knackered you can't play offline - but as a MW2 junkie myself, I know that's not much consolation.

Let's face it. Someone tried to mod the system. Either through flashing the drive or some other method, someone tried to modify that 360. The hard drive had nothing to do with it at all.

The missing profiles are likely missing because they realized what they'd done and tried to delete all evidence of doing so. You should be able to get by with a core 360 and your old HD. The store won't take the one you have now back though. That one's as good as junk. You MIGHT be able to find someone on craigslist who'll buy it for parts. I buy them off of people around here and sell them for parts myself.

I agree with JC. Anything equal to or less than a baseball bat whipping seems about fair.

Arrows is right on the money.

Someone tried (or did) mod YOUR X-Box. As other have said, the harddrive has nothing to do about it.

A good beating would probably suffice... or if your parents are cool, having them buy YOU a new X-Box this year rather than buy your brother any birthday gifts.

But he needs to learn a harsh lesson about respecting other's property. You just don't cost someone, your own brother no less, $200 because you were stupid enough to believe you could mod an XBOX and get away with it.
