DreamGoddessLindsey
Simple situation. My promotion has 80.0 (well, now 79.7 after a bad show where I got hit with awful chemistry in the main event), and I have put on shows rated up to 88 without gaining even a 0.1. I even get told after every show that I have gained popularity, yet those gains show up nowhere. Meanwhile, a promotion with 85 is putting on shows that are under 80 routinely and not losing any popularity from it at all. What's going on? How do I gain popularity? It seems impossible. No matter how good my show is, I don't even get a 0.1 increase.
jbergey_2005
Again like Adam has explained there is much more to it than A+B=C The networks matter, the popularity in the region of the show matter, the industry in the region you are working matter. If its the end of a certain time frame there are National/Regional Battles going on that could effect popularity. These questions arent able to be answered with the info you give. Just keep running good shows and it will take care of itself in the long run.
FlameSnoopy
You can't just pick one or two shows and cry how you didn't gain popularity from those. It's the big picture.
DreamGoddessLindsey
You can't just pick one or two shows and cry how you didn't gain popularity from those. It's the big picture. I'm not crying about anything, so don't insult me. I'm asking a legitimate question. If I post a 80 or below show (only happened once or twice) I automatically lose 0.1, yet when I post excellent shows at 84+, I still see no gain. So I'm asking a valid question: how do you gain popularity? All but three of my shows have been rated above my popularity, with an 84 and an 88 to boot, yet I get nothing. It's just a little frustrating because I post excellent shows and still gain nothing. I'm booking everything the way it should be booked and yet nothing happens. So it's not crying, it's asking for help. I didn't know that became a crime.

DreamGoddessLindsey
Are you in war? Are the national battles? Were there any notes after the show? Popularity in the region? Etc. To know what is up, you need to tell every little detail basically I have battles turned off. I already said my popularity was 80. The note after the show said I gained popularity, but I didn't. And now another weird thing happened. A show scored a 78 after I have the last two matches score 80 and 87, with few other segments on the entire show scoring below 80 except for a couple of undercard matches, which still scored decent. This game is frustrating the heck out of me. The exact scores were as follows for the ones that actually had an impact (discounted the 1 minute match announcement angles in other words): 1. 78 2. 82 3. 84 4. 87 5. 76 6. 68 7. 76 8. 76 9. 82 10. 83 11. 83 12. 88 13. (Semi-Main Event) 80 14. (Main Event) 87 Could someone explain how this got a final score of 78? I understood that the last two matches were considered about 60% of the overall grade, and my dirt sheet is only giving me good props for my booking. With all those mid-80s segments, this show should have scored much higher.
FlameSnoopy
The game is complicated. There are dozen different factors that effect the show, so I am definitely not the best guy to think why your shows act that way. Better to wait for Adam to post. DreamGoddessLindsey
Well I don't want these posts to sound the wrong way. I know my posting usually comes off as slightly bitchy, but I never intend it. I'm just easily frustrated. I'm trying to learn how to better play the game basically. I can't figure it out. According to the stuff in-game, I'm doing things the right away, so it's confusing that I'm not succeeding.
Historian
Things take a lot of time. The game isn't, in my experience, built for your popularity to drastically increase. I have had games where I constantly put on shows that 'should have increased your popularity', but it took awhile for the popularity affects to actually happen. Give it time, and keep plucking away, you'll see results.
Guest KingOfKings
I feel your pain. It seems the A.I. controlled promotions always have a slight edge when it comes to booking. But FlameSnoopy is right, so many things factor into a good show and gaining popularity. There could be something hidden right under your nose thats holding you back and you may never know about it. FINisher
If you are at D+, you gain popularity by putting a C rated show or a high C-, depending on how low/high your original D+ pop is. If you are at B-, you gain popularity by putting a B+ rated show or a high B, depending on how low/high your original B- pop is. I think Adam mentioned about introducing a new element into this as you couldn't really rise to A - A* popularity in TEW08 so I'm guessing that the cap gets lower the higher you get in popularity, meaning that by putting A -rated show can increase your popularity if you are at B+ and so on. 1. 78 2. 82 3. 84 4. 87 5. 76 6. 68 7. 76 8. 76 9. 82 10. 83 11. 83 12. 88 13. (Semi-Main Event) 80 14. (Main Event) 87 Could someone explain how this got a final score of 78? The Shape
Am I right in thinking sometimes you can get the pop increased note but it can still go down overall? i.e. in TEW, B- can say that in a B- area, but in 08 this would hurt you elsewhere where you were B/B+? FINisher
Depends if the show was on TV/PPV, then the whole area where it's shown would be taken into account. If it was just a normal, non-TV/PPV show, then it takes only the region it was held into the account.
Adam Ryland
Am I right in thinking sometimes you can get the pop increased note but it can still go down overall? i.e. in TEW, B- can say that in a B- area, but in 08 this would hurt you elsewhere where you were B/B+? You get the "the show has increased your popularity" note if the number of regions where you gained popularity via the show's rating is higher than the number of regions where you lost popularity via the show's rating. It does not mean, and never has meant, that if you go straight to your promotion's popularity screen after the show that you are guaranteed to see an increase. This is because it does not take into account all the changes that are not related to the show's rating. For example, if your show was not on TV or pay-per-view (and therefore only affects one region) and the overall rating meant that you gained 0.3% popularity in that region, you would get the "increased popularity message". However, if the industry level in that country was extremely low you might lose 0.4% popularity in every region. And if the current trends meant that your promotion's product was very unpopular, you might lose another 0.3%. That would be one situation where you would get a message telling you that you have increased your popularity but find that you've actually lost some (quite a lot of it) when you view your promotion after the show. It is because your popularity losses were not specific to the quality of the event you ran, but did outweigh the increases that you got.
