I'm one of the people that liked '08's graphics for the game. After looking at the game over and over, and checking out everything I can think of, I had to bring this up.

 

The graphics are AMAZING to me. I know that we get lost in the fact we can change just about everything in this game, and people are going to request as well as change things as they see fit. Other's will like other graphics mods better and such, but the graphics for this game is top notch. It's hard to believe it's an Indie game anymore. Very professional looking. Just the opening screen is so familiar, yet so appealing. I guess I was thinking someone was going to try and add to much to it, or try to change it from 2008's mold too much. I had a pleasant surprise.

 

Thanks to whomever did this, I really like it better then '08, and as I said, I was one that liked the 2008 graphics.

I agree with a lot of what you say, 90% of the graphics are amazing, oustanding, superb.

 

The layout is well thought out and convenient, and the ability to be able to make new skins has been taken into account very well.

 

For me it's just the grey & blue marble backgrounds. Apart form those two things this years skins have by far been the best.

 

I would argue that it still looks like an indie game (except for promotions, workers ect.), only because you don't need a flashy design for a text based game.

 

I once played Democracy 2 (???) and they tried to do all this clever 3D layout with graphics that would appear for every action you did, not only was it pointless, but it raised loading times, downloading times and they never worked properly.

 

TEW2010 has the (very)near-perfect mix.
