**TEW 2010 Scenario: By Geoff Clark**

*************************************

Version 3.1 / *Release : February 3, 2010*

*Credits*

The data on this scenario is based from the "T-Zone 2007" original data by John Marley and the DOWWE-2008 data from TEW 2007 converted to TEW 2008 format. The base data is being used by permission from John Marley and all of the help to build that mod.

The original concept for this scenario was designed for TEW 2005 by me in the "Death of WWE" that was released in the Grey Dog Software forums. This is a modified version of the scenario, based from an alternate reality of the Benoit tragedy of 2007.

This scenario, no way, is meant to disrespect the Benoit, Dauss, or Guerrero families, nor is it meant to disrespect any of the personalities that may have alternate paths of reality in this scenario. This scenario is also, in no way, meant to used to gain profit or any type of revenue, as it is just for recreational purposes.

This scenario is a conversion from the TEW 2008 version with modifications for the new features of TEW 2010.

Any questions or comments, e-mail me at info@allenverse.com. Thanks and enjoy!

With all that said, on to the backstory...

*Backstory*

June 23, 2007 - Chris Benoit no-shows a WWE live event in Beaumont, Texas.

June 24, 2007 - WWE Vengenance takes place, with Chris Benoit also no-showing his scheduled ECW Title match against CM Punk. Johnny Nitro is slotted in to fill his place, which he does and wins the ECW Title. During the event, several WWE officials and friends of Benoit in WWE receive strange text messages.

June 25, 2007 - Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit are found deceased at their Georgia home. The scheduled three-hour RAW airs a Chris Benoit tribute, titled "RAW is CHRIS".

July/August 2007 - Thoughout the next month, it is revealed that Benoit murdered his wife and son before ending his own life. Several bitter former WWE personalities appear on national news channels, lobbying for the federal government to get involved and regulate the business. During this time, former ECW wrestler John Kronus and former WWE/WCW wrestler Bryan Adams both pass away, giving the media more reason to run wild with the topic.

September 2007 - The wrestling industry as a whole begins to suffer as many fans begin to alienate themselves from the business. WWE is hit with popularity drop after a series of doctors that are busted for steroid distribution, naming several of WWE's top names. Due to the inability to produce the proper paperwork and inconsistancies with the Wellness Policy, the federal government hits WWE with a multi-million dollar fine that is widely publicized. WWE is forced to make some massive cutbacks, including pulling its developmental deals with OVW and FCW. FCW closes while OVW owner Danny Davis is able to keep OVW alive. Antonio Inoki moves to the United States to meet with the remaining NWA board members about merging into one touring promotion.

October 2007 - While WWE begins a dark era of the business, TNA's popularity seems to be growing, as many of the now-anti-WWE fans have turned to TNA. Spike! TV announces that TNA has a two-hour slot on Monday night, in an attempt to capture disgruntaled WWE fans, and is successful, with a series of 2.5 ratings. There are rumors that WWE will go out of business by the end of 2007, but Linda McMahon reassures the public that these rumors are false. Meanwhile, ROH is gaining momentum with their quarterly Pay-Per-Views. In other entertainment news, Paul Heyman hits a gold mine when his screenplay of "Zodiac Zombies" is picked up and is set to star, ironically, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

November 2007 - WWE, in an attempt to cut away loses, puts the WCW, ECW, and AWA trademarks up for sell. WWE Survivor Series 2007 saw the main event of WWE Heavyweight Champion Triple H defeat WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista and ECW Heavyweight Champion CM Punk in a unificiation match for all of the titles. WWE then drops the World Heavyweight, United States, Cruiserweight, and Smackdown! Tag Team titles, due to possible copyright issues with the WCW name down the line. The ECW brand is dropped as a whole. Wrestling purist go wild of the idea that Triple H is the last ECW Champion.

December 2007 - Despite the cutbacks, WWE is still bleeding money and cuts even more of their roster. WWE also drops the Smackdown! brand as UPN announces that they have killed the timeslot. WWE also drops the women's division. Down to pretty much the main draws of the company, WWE struggles as they are continously buried by the media.

Meanwhile, Eric Bischoff purchases the WCW rights and trademarks with two wealthly investors, Hulk Hogan and Paul Wight. Bischoff also announces that he has hired Booker T and Jody Hamilton to head up a development territory called Georgia Championship Wrestling in Georgia. Paul Heyman uses the revenue from his successful screenplay to purchase the ECW rights and trademarks with some help from Tommy Dreamer and Rob Van Dam. The AWA is purchased by Greg Gagne and two unlikely business partners in Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Hart. Antonio Inoki closes the deal with the NWA, along with Dusty Rhodes and his family, open the NWA promotion that will tour across the country. Steve Austin announces that he, along with Michael Hayes and Tully Blanchard have purchased the WCCW rights and trademarks and will start promoting tours of Texas soon. Jerry Jarrett and Tom Pritchard successfully purchase the USWA name and trademarks.

January 2008 - It seems that the Death of WWE is intiment. TNA announces that Jim Cornette will be in charge of the first developmental territory for TNA, the revived Smoky Mountain Wrestling. The revival of ECW, WCW, NWA, AWA, and WCCW has sparked some interest amongst alienated fans from the Attitude Era, but is it possible to bring the business back out of the decline?

*Objectives*

WWE - This is obviously one of the harder routes. You have one TV show, RAW, that is on the brink of extinction, as the USA network is not happy with the massive decline in ratings. You have talent that is over but the audience is not there. You start at International status with C+ prestige. Also, your funds are in the negative and you have six months to bring it out of the red before the banks close on you. Your mission, bring WWE back and reclaim the title of being the "World's Leader in Sports Entertainment".

TNA - Growing in popularity, playing as TNA is fairly easy. You have the talent, you have a great timeslot, and you have the momentum. All you have to do is take that number one spot and once you have gained International popularity, it should be pretty easy to maintain it. You have B prestige. You also have a developmental territory in SMW.

WCW - You start with two of the world's most popular wrestlers, Hulk Hogan and Paul Wight as your base roster, both under 6 year deals, as well as Eric Bischoff. You have Global status, B+ prestige, PPV deals, and a developmental territory in GCW.

ECW - You start with Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer under 6 year deals with Paul Heyman, with PPV deals. You have Cult status and C- prestige. Bring back the real ECW to help fans forget about the abomination that was WWECW.

Anyone else - enjoy! :)

Current Scenario Status: Release Version 3.1

[2010.02.01 01.21] I basically converted this scenario from the TEW 2008 version, adjusted the game world and trends, and started on media groups and modifying the TV networks. I will be going through each worker, checking stats, and adjusting the conservative/liberal slider. Beyond that I will be adding narratives to make this scenario more interesting. Feedback is welcome. Enjoy.

[2010.02.01 09.27] Did a lot of sim test last night. I think the data holds up pretty well. Booking seems pretty close. WWE has kept the WWE title on Triple H, Vince retired @ WM 26 after... defeating Batista (LOL), Edge/Orton are tag champs. The cards seem realistic to what WWE would book, IMO. TNA is growing. Angle is still the World & Tag champs (w/Sting). Angle lost the X Division title to AJ. Gail Kim is still the champ (in TEW 2008 I remembered that the Women's division would always shut down within months of the game. WCW has (surprise, surprise) the Hulkster as the WCW Champ. I think I may make Hulk the owner and Eric the booker. Seems more realistic as Hogan would have had the money at that time, right? ECW crowned RVD as their new champ and he has defended it since. I will need to go through and adjust hair/mask settings, contract lengths/wages, and the conservative/liberal stat on workers. If you come across any typos or obvious errors, let me know.

[2010.02.03 01.54] Completed Media Groups/TV Networks. Testing those now.

[2010.02.03 10.37] Testing continues. I will say that I am pleased with the data thus far.

In the several test I have ran, WWE seems to make very 'WWE-like' decisions. One scenario had Triple H has the champ for about 2 years then Cena, then gave HBK a short 3 months reign before putting the belt back on Shane McMahon for about a week, then Triple H, and then Randy Orton. Another scenario had Triple H lose the belt to Great Khali at WM24 then Khali lose it to Cena, after a year, Cena lose it to Orton, then Orton lose it a few weeks in to Edge, just for Triple H to get it back a few weeks later. One of the scenarios had Vinny Mac pass away and Steph took over the company with Trips as booker. I would say that would be accurate.

WCW (I can't say this is strange) seems to always put the WCW title on Hulk Hogan (he's the booker with creative control... I'm not surprised) and it all the test I have ran, he KEEPS THE BELT UNTIL HE RETIRES. The US title gets built up in prestige, kinda like how it was worth something in the early 90s. Lots of former WWE upper midcard guys hold the belt. They seem to bounce between Cult/International yet hold the #2 spot.

TNA holds #1 spot throughout all scenarios. Vince Russo is the booker so I wasn't surprised to see Junior Fatu (aka Rikishi) hold the X Division title for 6 months. The TNA seems to shift between Kurt, Jericho, Sting, Lesnar, and in one scenario 'Adam Copeland' (who jumped from WWE after a 3 weeks title reign to TNA. Angle/Sting seem to hold the Tag belts for quite a while. I would guess the creative control that Angle/Sting have has something to do with this.

ROH starts high and seems to always dip into Cult status. Dean Malenko seems to hold the ROH title at one point before his retirement in all scenarios I have run.

NWA had a strange twist when Antonio Inoki (the owner) left the business and (of all people)... MARK MADDEN took over the NWA as owner and booker. Oddly enough, NWA made it to national status after Madden took over. (Strange?). That was just one scenario though. All others have then kind of remain stagnate where they are with the Rhodes brothers at the top of the card.

I will start on the hair/mask and conservative/liberal stats and contracts for all the workers today. Stay tuned...

Awesome to see this out for 2010. Had lots of fun with this mod for 08. My only real problems with it are game mechanics which are out of anyones hands and the long loading times due to the HUGGGEEEEE number of wrestlers/promotions in the game.

So, while im going on about it. Did you have WWE start with more money? To be more specific about the game mechanic problem I was having with 08, it was more of an issue to do with "fairness". Playing as the WWE you start with ZERO dollars. And for whatever reason, no matter the attendance you could pull, you could still only choose the smallest size venue. On the flip side of that, when playing as WCW, WWE, controlled by the AI, was constantly selling out 10K seaters. Frustrating, frustrating.

I hope this post doesnt deter anyone from downloading and trying the mod, its still lots of fun, I just dont play as WWE anymore. :p

I downloaded and installed. I started a game as the WWE and got to looking around. I looked at Bobby Lashley (sp -mind is blank), and I noticed for his brawling skill, you have it set at D or D-. Isn't he a MMA fighter?

Just something I noticed. I guess that can be a opinion thing I guess.

Well, if you compare the TEW 2007 version to TEW 2008 and then to TEW 2010, you will see that the load times have went from about 3-10 minutes (07) to about 1-2 minutes (08/10)--I'm running a pretty powerful machine (quad-core, Windows 7, 4 GB RAM) so I may not see the 'long waits', but then again, I'm a patient guy. lol

Experimenting with this right now. I'm thinking ZERO dollars would be a good start. Narratives in TEW 2010 will definitely make this scenario much more interesting. I have a lot of ideas to make the road for recovery of WWE a very hard one. >:) In my test sims, WWE has been running shows of 5,000 initially and then go up from there. I do remember the problem with starting as WWE and having to run low level venues. BUT, with WWE starting in the negative, it pushes the AI to make prudent decisions to stay afloat. To resolve this, I may just add a note in the readme.txt that *IF* you start as WWE, go into the editor and set money to 0 (optional?). To be honest, in my tests, WWE bounces back to positive (from the -$5 million that was set in TEW 2008) within a month. So I'm thinking I need to set it further down. Then the ability to set wages prior to game start is a great thing as I can simulate money 'disappearing' via Vince McMahon having a $750,000/month contract (to simulate legal fees) or something of that nature.

As Phreak pointed out, this data was based on stats from 2007. I may add a narrative that points Lashley into MMA category, but let's be honest, if his WWE run wouldn't have ended the way it did in real life, he would probably still be there and not in MMA.

I wasn't thinking back to 2008, so you guys are right about Lashey. I will add though that I am really impressed with your ratings for all the wrestlers. Very realistic and honest.

If you do any further edits, maybe you could make it so that Brett Hart can come back someday like it appears he may be doing now, as a personality or manager. (Sorry, just a BIG Bret Hart fan.) :p

THIS HAS TOTALLY MADE MY DAY! I still play my DOWWE mod in TEW2008. I'm currently at 2014! I honestly think this is the best real world based mod out there. I can't wait to play this version for 2010. And I love the fact that you are keeping it in '08! The 2 extra years just increases the longevity of the game!

Gonna get started on this tonight!

Sounds amazing and thanks for your detailed testing of the data. Going to download this tonight.

Thank you for playing it! :)

Not to get off topic, but are you gonna update your Allenverse?

Yes. I'm waiting on Derek_B's release of the CV97 to base it from. This DOWWE-2008 was to occupy my time and look around the mod making mechanics of the game to prep myself for changes with TEW2010.

  • 4 weeks later...

great mod. only complaint is that there are way to many unneed companys. i would look to trim the promtions and unneed works in this mod as it takes awhile to get throught the first few days. i respect that effort and time went in to making it so large and detailed but i dont think all workers and companys but i would say some are unneed. the uk mainly, im english and dont even see the need for a mod to have that many seeing as most companys over here use basicly the same workers. just my view and im sure the will be others that disagree with me.

still im loving this mod tho

Im really enjoying this mod. Im with TNA, made several characters update cause I think thats even though the database is set 3 years ago, a good wrestlers always were at least a regular wrestler back then. So I boosted up a lot of young stars, like Kofi Kingston, Ted Dibiase, Eric Young, Motorcity Machineguns and others.

And I agree with Robtallica, there are too many promotions on the game.

Im now on june, rised TNA to Global and Im now second on the prom. wars. WCW dropped to cult, and I think that this hapenned cause they couldn't get a television show.

WWE is slowly regrouping, but I think that in a couple months Ill assume the 1st place.

And HBK just died :(
