Hive
Hi I was wondering whether someone would be interested in doing a dojo collaboration project to be used for multiple mods? It's an aspect of the game that has very little to do with enterpretation and should thus be a good fit for objective cooperation. Why should all modders individually spend time researching the graduates from eg. the New Japan Dojo when a joint effort could relieve us of a lot of work? What I'd like to suggest is a list of dojos, their owners/trainers and their graduates. So far, I only have the WCW Power Plant done (as I have had some trouble finding good info). Anyone interested in helping with this?
BurningHamster
I am somewhat interested in this. I've been putting some work together for my 1996 mod and so far have done .. WCW Power Plant Ultimo Dragon Gym Johnny Rodz School of Wrestling Killer Kowalski's Pro Wrestling School FMW Dojo APW Boot Camp Monster Factory Shawn Michaels Texas Wrestling Academy ECW House of Hardcore Wild Samoan Training Centre I am not sure how complete these are as like you said finding good information is tricky. Also lots of workers trained under a few guys or trainers claim to have trained every wrestler who did a 2 day seminar with them so I am leaning towards only recognizing what I would consider the earliest or main trainer of a wrestler. Also I am trying to think what other notable wrestling schools are around or have existed since then and now ... Can Am Wrestling School Steel Domain Iron Mike Sharpe's School of Pro Wrestling Combat Zone Wrestling School FWA Wrestling School The Hart Dungeon Chikara Wrestle Factory Rudos Dojo ROH School UPW Ultimate University Steve Keirn's School of Hard Knocks Jesse Hernandez School of Hard Knocks NJPW Dojo AJPW Dojo Animal Hamaguchi Dojo Big Japan Dojo Um any others spring to mind? Genadi
Would love to help, last year we did alot of research on dojos for the '02 mod. We haven't changed any of them for this year but it's on the list for next version. If I can help at all or if you need anything from my data let me know would be happy to help with this. Hive
Um any others spring to mind? That's a pretty impressive and extensive list you got there. Only one I can think of you missed seems to be the Funking Conservatory. I am not sure how complete these are as like you said finding good information is tricky. Also lots of workers trained under a few guys or trainers claim to have trained every wrestler who did a 2 day seminar with them so I am leaning towards only recognizing what I would consider the earliest or main trainer of a wrestler. Yeah, it can be a bit tricky like that, I agree.
BurningHamster
Ah yes, Funking Conservatory Also remembered Les Thatcher had a school which It think was attached to HWA. Not sure how to deal with Lucha Libre, I know Rey Misterio Sr. is a major trainer in Mexico but i am not really up on how training operates south of the border. Bill Parkman
I know in Ohio, Al Snow has/had a training school in Lima and then there's the Shark Tank which is Shark Boy's training school in Hamilton. Raven was thinking of having a school in Atlanta with himself and Johnny Swinger/Parisi as the head trainers. Not sure if Raven's got off the ground or not. Hive
I have been looking around some more, and found an additional dojo: the Harley Race Wrestling Academy. I don't know much about it, but it was created in 1999 and it's alumni includes Trevor Rhodes, Ted DiBiase Jr., Mike DiBiase Jr., Joe Hennig, Amy Hennig and Ricky Steamboat Jr. I also found a list of Can-Am Wrestling School (trainer Scott D'Amore) alumni: A-1 Chris Sabin Rhino Petey Williams Alex Shelley Tyson Dux Jaime D Joe Doering Phil Atlas Akira Raijin Brute Issei CK3 N8 Mattson Matt Duvall Jon Bolen Brad Martin Gutter
Phreak
Sounds like an interesting idea. A few others you might consider adding: Sullys Gym, Head Trainer Ron Hutchinson. Having trained Trish, Edge, Christian, Joe E Legend, among others. Squared Circle Training, Head Trainer Rob "El" Fuego. Having trained the vast majority of the BSE roster, and numerous other ontario indy workers. And of course, my personal favourite: WARRIOR UNIVERSITY!! Come on! This one is ALWAYS left out.... ~PhreaK

BurningHamster
Alright, doing a bit more work on this it looks like being a pretty big job. I've got around 24 dojos with 240 graduates at the moment. I am going to leave out any dojos that haven't produced at least 5 or so workers notable enough to get into my mod unless they are attached to a promotion. franticloser
just so you know spw bootcamp is part of supreme pro wrestling out of sacramento, and christina von eerie has done alot recently with pwg as recently as the wrestlerenuin show and her and timothy thatcher aswell as a few more guys from spw are getting tryouts at the ovw training camp this month
Hive
Right, I have personally given up on dojos; I can for the love of everything holy not find any sufficient lists of dojo graduates for anything but a couple of dojos... not even the dojos in NJPW and AJPW have I been able to find info on. I could, of course, go through every single wrestler in my mod's wikipedia page for info on how they arrived in the business, but I must admit I'm not up for that kind of work... not now at least. Anyone else have better luck?
