Any tips with this (outside of a lot of entertainment based angles focused around the DeColts)?

More specifically, my matches suck. Through January, I think I have had 3 matches crack the B- grade level, and one was a throwaway Shane Nelson vs. Ryan Powell match. Another was Ricky/Nelson vs. Shaffer/Shooter.

Combination of matches such as DaLay vs. Alex DeColt and Chandler/DeLay vs. Alex/Jack have bombed (between C- to C+).

Are these match grades to be expected out of this group? I assumed that since the fed was based on popularity that they would draw good ratings.

In TEW 08 I would play as NOTBPW and could throw any two guys into a main event and worst case scenario, the match would come out with a B grade. Hell, the MAW main events that I was running were drawing grades comparible to what I'm getting out of CGC. Thoughts? Road agent notes, etc.?

First things first, you aren't quite as big as NoTBPW so don't try to compare yourself to hard to them.

Second, I am through 4 months in my game and I just checked how CGC is doing, and their best matches so far have been rated B, which is great for Cult. I would say perhaps check your workers momentum and such and see if it needs boosted to help get fans interested. Booking top stars vs top stars in and out on every show isn't going to help you establish good momentum. You need to pick two guys to make a major feud out of and build them up a bit and then have them feud and carry your large events for a few months.

Hell, as long as you are gaining popularity on your shows I wouldn't be concerned too much with the ratings.

Why have the matches bombed? Are you checking the Dirt Sheet to see what the feedback is? That can be a huge help in seeing where things are going wrong and how to fix them.

I do agree that comparing yourself to NOTBPW is tough, because they doing something different.

NOTBPW is performance based with EXCELLENT workers. Stones, McFly, and Bloodstone is a combo that can poop out A matches all day long.

CGC is a popularity based fed (with nobody with A pop...maybe the decolts, can't remember) and a much weaker main event. DeLay isn't that great of a worker, Chandler is decent but not over enough to carry a match, and the decolts are great but they all start off on the same side of things.

You're a popularity based fed, so angles & entertainment is always going to be your bread and butter. Don't worry about your match ratings, worry about your show ratings.

Haven't played them, but from a quick look at the roster and thoughts from 08:

1. Menace angles, menace angles, menace angles. Grease Hogg and Lead Belly should be beating up the lower midcarders, Brett Fraser should be attacking jobbers, and Gargantuan should be Elite's enforcer, taking on the DeColts.

2. Squash matches. All of the above four should be dominating guys, the DeColts should be taking on any vaguely skilled heel jobbers - maybe bring some short term guys in for three appearances, and get them to job to all three DeColts.

3. Hotstuff Marie is REALLY underrated by many people. Design an angle with her as victim (Sex Appeal), attacker (Menace), rescuer (Overness) and have Gargantuan stalk her with Jack or other faces saving her.

4. Train some guys up on mic skills. Pre-show, have Alex and Jack cut promos with/against some of your lower card guys - should raise skills considerably.

5. Keep the heels competitive - Deeley and Chandler, if their momentum protected slightly, are both capable of great matches. Book them in open matches against Alex and Jack and you should get really good results, I'd think.

6. DeColts, DeColts, DECOLTS. Alex's pvermess in Canada is 82. Jack's is 86. Ricky's is 79. Even Marie is 70. Next best face is Whippy at 52. You NEED to keep the three brothers strong, since you're popularity based. There's often a temptation to elevate loads of people - don't, you haven't got enough TV time with only an hour a week. I'd concentrate strongly on DeColts vs Elite, give a couple of others solid pushes (Gargantuan and DWBs would be my choices, as mentioned above), and not worry about the rest too much.

I make this angle in all my games, but I use 4 people. I have one person rated on entertainment backed up by the huge menacing guy.
