EWBSDM Posted February 5, 2010 Share Posted February 5, 2010 Okay, so I have a TEW file that I've been simming with my user character unemployed. It's now 2015. I've tried to apply for jobs as they've come up, but everytime I do, it goes to a worker in the database and not me. I've tried editting Senor Jack Avatar with the editor but no matter how absurd I boost his stats, he still gets no love as a potential booker. What(or who) do I need to do to get a job!? The user character's job chances are based on your user reputation, visible via the Control Room - this can't be altered via the editor, I think you're changing the Booking stat, which only applies to AI-controlled characters. If you intend to start the game unemployed you need to have some reputation to work with, which can be assigned in the User Character section in the editor before you start a game. Most people start withi a job, so don't need to worry about reputation... or plan to start their own promotion which means that they need to have a High reputation to start with and most of those players are also creative enough to make their own user character. But at least you'll get to play as a user character with some personality this time. If you plan to start unemployed again, I'd gow with a minimum reputation of Low. That should be able to get you on the lowest rungs of the ladder but you won't be jumping straight to the top, which I guess was part of the reason for being unemployed in the first place. This is almost certainly not true; even with the lowest reputation, you will always be in the running for a job with a smaller promotion. What I think you might be overlooking is that you're just one of potentially many applicants - if 25 people are all applying for the job, your odds are pretty steep regardless. Nobody hired me until I believe it was domino hired me to that japanese garbage fed and I was at the lowest reputation. I can't remember their name right now though. It had the xxv at the end. He had some obsurd goals lol so I sabotaged the fed by creating a venue for all of his money and resigning. Being a good booker is about taking whatever opportunity you can and trying to make something out of it! And, it's not overly hard to make money. So, in 22 months I would have to make 2.7 mil and with the math I would have to make around 120k a month? That is the math I am doing right now, in my head earlier I thought it was more lol. I guess I could have done it, the correct phrase should have been "I am unwilling to that". I am considering lowering the reputation of every single person in the gameworld to ensure that the new job is mine and mine alone. Is this an example of that new feature mentioned in the develpment journal whereby it would be made easier for the user to find employment? I've always hated starting unemployed in TEW because, while not impossible, it's a damn long wait. I think the job application should be weighted in the user's favour - about 60%-40%. I was responding to the comment that the came she be altered to make it easier for you to get what ever booking job you want. If you want to look at it from a business position, if three years in the game have passed and you haven't booked one show, why would a company take a risk? I was merely suggesting you might find it more suitable. There's only so much Adam can weight in the user's favor before the game becomes broken for the user. After all, if it's 60-40 in the user's favor, that could means users who are continually getting fired from companies for poor performances are going to keep getting jobs. The game is meant to be fun, but it's also meant to provide a level of consistency in that people aren't going to make out-of-the-blue business decisions, like hire someone who has been unemployed for three years to suddenly take over the reigns of their company.
