Snes!

Let's see...

Mortal Kombat II

Beavis And Butt-Head (The video game!)

Super Mario World

Super Mario Kart (UT666 nailed those those)

And you know what?

Screw it...

SimAnt

I can't count how many hours I wasted playing the SNES versions of SimAnt and SimEarth when I was little. All you can find these days are the PC versions, both of which are far inferior to the SNES.

Oh, and dont forget... there were Tecmo football games for the SNES as well, and they rocked just as much as the original!

Oh, and that Mario Super Pack thing (game which had all three of the original Mario games on it, including the "Lost Levels" of the original) rocked.

Last, a special shout out to "Star Trek The Next Generation: Future's Past", for being a fun little adventure in Star Trek.

i was more into genesis, but the super star wars trilogy was/is money and chrono trigger....1 of 4 rpgs ive ever been able to play and enjoy.

If the other three aren't Bioware products, you're doing it wrong.

KOTOR

Mass Effect 2

Dragon Age Origins

Three of the best RPGs I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

Well, those and Fallout 3...

im shocked that no ones metioned ultimate mortal kombat 3, its one of a kind and imo the best ever fighting game ever. snes games in general r a lot more funner then these games today. most games now lack storylines and usually very short games compared to snes which there is so many games thats hard to beat...

I only don't, since MK Trilogy came out around the same time for the 64, and it was doubly awesome.

never played it, but heard GREAT things

You need to play Secret of Mana man. Awesome game, one of my favourites. Good story, good battle system, good graphics (for the day of course, but I tend to like the 2D graphics of the SNES better than some modern games!). You have got to play it haha.

As for the games I loved, and still play on my SNES (remarkable that it still works!)

  • Chrono Trigger - the game I've played through more than any other (dozens of times), and I still haven't gotten every ending.
  • Final Fantasy II
  • Final Fantasy III
  • Megaman X (1-3)
  • Various other RPGs, which I think is my favourite genre.
  • Super Mario World
  • Some more platformers, but I can't recall them right now. (I'll have to go digging through my SNES games again haha.)

I stand by my opinion that the SNES is second only to the NES in terms of awesomeness per cartridge.

Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy II/IV, Final Fantasy III/VI, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World, Super Mario All Stars, some great Street Fighter ports, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighter (arguably better than Street Fighter II Turbo!), Star Fox, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (at worst, the second best Zelda game ever made)... I could do this all day.

I was really excited when I got on the internet for the first time in the late nineties and found out about all the great stuff I wasn't supposed to play: In Japan, the SNES got a sequel to one of my favorite strategy RPGs (Warsong) called Der Langrisser, Final Fantasy V, and even though you can't legally play it, there's a near-complete Star Fox 2 floating around out there. I can't think of any other system that had such a great unreleased game.
